Soul Mates – How to Recognise One

A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge.
Thomas Carlyle

You might wonder what a Soul Mate relationship feels like, what it looks like, and how you’ll know…

Let’s start by looking at what a Soul Mate relationship is not.

Image from perpetualkid.com

A Soul Mate will not share every view, feel as you do about everything in the Universe, or be your clone.

A Soul Mate relationship will not be about never arguing.

It will not be about perfection.

Image from geekologie.com

A Soul Mate is not some strange sort of parasitic or unhealthy dependency where you simply can’t survive without them in your life, or where they love you all up and suck you dry, before discarding you to move onto someone fresh.

A Soul Mate relationship won’t be categorised by fear, relentless pain, uncertainty, a feeling of being trapped, or a sense of impending doom.

It won’t be an abusive relationship.

It won’t be a relationship that belittles you, puts you down, discredits or dishonours you. It won’t be a relationship that puts doubts in your head until you begin to question your own judgement, and where your confidence and esteem erode, little by little, until you are weak and frail – a shell of who you were before. You won’t need to keep earning the other person’s love, or proving yourself.

So what does a Soul Mate relationship look like?

First and foremost, it is always categorised by love.  Not vain love or showy love – but the sort of enduring and deepening love that allows you to grow, together, into something stronger, better and wiser than you were before.

Soul Mate relationships endure – they allow us to suffer the pain, and find a way, together, to move forward. In the presence of love we learn forgiveness, acceptance, compassion.

They bring out the best in us.  They give us comfort, friendship, support, and (often at the most unexpected times) fireworks in our bellies. They help us know laughter, and tears, they help us find the strength in ourselves and in each other.

With a Soul Mate we feel safe, and that safety gives us courage to wander far from home, creating and exploring and enacting our dreams.

Soul Mates believe in us, they’ll fight for us, and they’ll call us on it when we’re mistaken, or heading in the wrong direction. They love us when we have done nothing to deserve it, and when we feel totally unworthy of love, and they remind us to take care of ourselves, while caring for us when we can’t.

And at times, they’ll annoy us or frustrate us so much that we’ll wonder why we didn’t choose the other person. We’ll wish they’d just take a hike and leave us well alone. But in the next breathe we’ll know how miserable we’d be without them in our lives.

The relationship, like yourself, will always be a work in progress, ever changing, ever evolving, at times difficult, sometimes even strained to the point where you momentarily  find it hard to recognise yourself or each other. But it will also have the familiarity and comfort of home. And in the arms of this relationship you’ll know two things – love and safety. More importantly, you’ll get to know your true self.

A Soul Mate will spilt your heart open and you won’t even mind the pain because of all the love and joy you find there.

Can they really be your Soul Mate if you argue?

I grew up in a house where I never heard my parents fight. Sadly, their marriage didn’t last, but it made me certain that arguing was not a part of anything to do with love.

After I had my very first major and quite vocal disagreement (yep, some people would call that a fight…) with my husband, just weeks after we’d been married, I sat on the internal staircase of our house and cried, while my husband went outside to wash the car.

My beautiful Guide, Rollo, spoke to me, and asked, ‘Do you know what a Soul Mate relationship is?’

‘Obviously not!’ I snivelled, feeling totally pathetic and like I’d just made the biggest mistake of my life in getting married. I was sure Rollo was going to confirm that for me too.

Instead he showed me a picture of an oyster. ‘Do you know what happens when a tiny grain of sand gets into that oyster?’ he asked.

‘No,’ I sniffed.

‘It irritates the hell out of the oyster’ my Guide boomed, laughter in his voice.

Exactly, I thought. Irritates the hell out of it.

‘And in the presence of love, the oyster wraps that irritation in a special substance and after a while the pain goes away.’

I felt my Guide smiling at me. ‘Then the tide turns, and that annoying grain of sand moves somewhere else in the oyster, and do you know what happens?’

‘No,’ I replied, slow on the uptake.

‘That grain of sand causes more irritation in a different spot. But if love is present, love keeps wrapping itself around the irritation. The oyster grows, and over time the oyster transforms that grain of sand, in the presence of love, into something of great value and lasting beauty.  That oyster grows a pearl.  Without the irritation and the need to grow, nothing extraordinary would have ever happened.  But when love is present, magical transformation is possible.’

I could have hugged Rollo. My wise Guide was absolutely right.  I stopped crying and went into the kitchen to make my husband a cup of tea.

It’s true.  Love transforms.  It helps us weather many storms.  It grows us.  It improves us. It comforts us and delights us. And at some stage it causes us pain (usually BECAUSE we love), and love helps us bear that pain. The pain doesn’t weaken us – it strengthens us.  And from that pain we grow into something beautiful.

Seven Pictures to Re-Energise You and your Chakras

Chakras are energetic gateways or portals. Each has its own colour, and governs different areas and emotions within the body. I have meditated on each of the following images, and programmed each picture to energise, open, balance and heal your chakras.

How to use today’s blog:

  1. Slowly scroll down the page, gazing at each picture in turn.
  2. Notice which picture (or pictures) is more vibrant and attractive to you.
  3. Go back to that image (images) and spend a little longer.  Draw that colour deep into your body.  See if any words, impressions, emotions or images come up for you. You might even want to use that as the beginning of a journalling activity. These colours will feed and energise your chakras and are great indicators of what chakras are already flowing and working well or in the process of opening and healing.
  4. Also pay attention to any pictures that seem very flat and energetically unappealing. Note what chakra that picture relates to.  Once again see if any words, impressions, emotions or images come up for you. This flat energy will correspond to chakras that are blocked, stagnant or stuck.  Send them some white light and a little extra love.
  5. Run your eyes over the images again.  See if there is any change.  Eventually you’ll find that all of the pictures have an equal brightness as you come back into balance.

Opening your Heart to Give and Receive

The Heart Chakra is both a receiver and a transmitter for love and wisdom. The more we open our heart by giving, the more we can connect into receiving.  This positive vibration of flow allows us to live from our hearts as intuitive, clear and compassionate beings.

Every heart is capable of hearing the whisperings of another...

Activity:  Our hearts love to love. Here are some suggestions for expressing that energy in the world this week:

  • Play with your pets, or go feed ducks in the local park. Animals are wonderfully intuitive, loving and giving.  Make a connection that expands your own heart.
  • Read to a child, or even to an adult.
  • Catch up with friends for a coffee, a meal or a movie.
  • Play tennis with a friend, or go to a yoga class together. Do anything athletic that involves someone else, some encouragement, some sharing and some laughing.
  • Visit or call an elderly relative or a family member who’ll be glad to see you!
  • Spend an hour giving random but sincere compliments to strangers. Tell the waitress you like her earings, or the supermarket boy that you’re grateful for the skilful way he packs your bag so your bread doesn’t get squashed. Smile. Leave a kind and supportive message on a pillow, tucked into a pocket, or posted on a blog.
  • Volunteer, and care for others in some way. Humans love to give, and to help, and to be united in the energy of that caring.
  • Plan a party or a special event to bring together people that you love, even if that event doesn’t take happen straight away.
  • Join a retreat, workshop or holiday tour and meet new friends.  Be open to connecting with others.

Journalling:

Meet your heart on the page. Take a minute or two to calm yourself, by closing your eyes and breathing deeply. Focus on your heart, and build that energy within you.  Visualise the colour green.  (If you wish, work with the energy of the meditation below before you begin!)  When you are ready start writing, starting with the words, “The thing my wise heart really needs my conscious mind to know is…”

Meditation:

This six minute meditation will help you tap into your heart’s own intuition and wise guidance, opening you up to deeper and deeper levels of spiritual connection.

A Joyful Heart is Magnetic to Love

“Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy.”

There is nothing as radiant and attractive as a joyful heart. Joy is heart centred, and is the spiritual expression of happiness. It is centred in deep gratitude and awareness, even though it can be generated by the most simple of things.  It is all about smiling from the inside, breaking open with infectious enthusiasm and zest for life, love and gratitude and rainbow sparks shooting from your eyes, laughter and kindness and feeling abundant and benevolent towards the world…

Activity:

This is a gorgeous activity, and one of my favourites.  I call it “Bliss Bombing”.  Take yourself to a public place, like a mall, coffee shop, or a bench in a park near where people are walking by.  Sit somewhere unobtrusive.  When someone walks past, shoot a radiant shower of sparks from your heart to theirs and silently bless them with love.  You can even send joy and love from your heart to trees, animals, plants, bus-loads of commuters and overhead planes.  You might  want to say to yourself, “I bless you with love.  Know joy today.”  If anyone catches your eye, just smile.

Feel your open heart begin to tingle with energy and joy.  In that place of energetic connection look around you at the world and you will see that it IS brighter and more beautiful.  YOU contributed to that shift. It’s okay to let your face crack open from smiling!  Expect an outpouring of feel-good emotion. ♥

Journalling:

Embark on a rampage of appreciation.  Take yourself somewhere that pleases you: propped in bed on comfy pillows, a local coffee house with a hot beverage at your elbow, a park, an art gallery – anywhere that soothes and feeds your soul.  Take a moment and breathe in that comfort, and allow yourself to feel connected to your heart. Feel grateful for each breath, for where you are right now, for the time of day, and the weather, for the goings-on around you. Let the worries of the day fade away.  Say to yourself, “I choose to recommit to myself.  I choose to see the joy in life.”

In this place of connection open your journal and begin with the words, “I am aware of small miracles and wonders around me everywhere.  In fact right now there is…  ”

Meditation:

Sit quietly and close your eyes.  Feel your heart beating.  Feel the blood whizzing around your body in your veins.  Feel your breathe coming into your lungs, and out again.  Notice how this is automatic.  Your body is healing and breathing, heart pumping, ears listening, skin feeling, mind noticing.  You are a living breathing miracle.  Feel how amazing you are.   Let gratitude, wonder and peace flood your heart.

Attracting Love – Part 2 *Soul Mates and Life Partners

There is something wonderful about sharing life’s journey with someone you love.  I can say that from experience, having happily celebrated my twelfth wedding anniversary yesterday. A life partner, a soul mate, a companion, lover, friend – for many of us it is one of life’s greatest gifts and pleasures.

But what do you do when you haven’t found them yet?  When you are lonely and looking and wondering if there’s anyone out there who can truly  love you for who you are, and whom you can love deeply in return…

The following formula has worked for me, and many of my friends and clients.  I trust that it can also work for you.  So read on!

Knowing what you want

The Universe works like a giant restaurant.  It will only deliver you what you order.  If you keep changing your mind, it makes it hard for those hard-working kitchen angels to create the right ‘dish’ and deliver it speedily to you.  Mixed messages are confusing for everyone, and will ultimately frustrate you in your attempts to find true love.

Most people spend more time choosing a car than they do choosing a life partner.  How often do people fall into a relationship and then try and make it over into the one they want?  We throw so much time and energy and money into trying to make square pegs fit into round holes.  Often years of our lives are spent fighting battles we were never meant to win.  Sound familiar?

Discernment is the key to successful relationships, and discernment must ALWAYS start with awareness.  Are you aware of what you want in a relationship?  For many people, their clearest opinions and decisions start out being based around what they DON’T want.  This is as good a place to start as any, as long as you are able to then turn each negative into a positive.  “I don’t want a partner who will cheat on me” becomes, “I deserve a partner who will be faithful and loyal to our relationship.”  Look to the good and unsuccessful relationships around you to guide you in making your love choices.

Journalling:  Take time to really think about the sort of partner and the type of relationship you are looking for.  As you become clearer about what you want, begin by writing the qualities and characteristics of this relationship down.  Create a “Love Shopping List”, and add to it as your awareness increases.  Take your time with this.  Do you rush into buying a house, or choosing an expensive once-in-a-lifetime holiday?  Make your list comfortable, accurate and reflective of your innermost desires.

If you meet someone who clearly does not fit what you ordered, then wait!  Maybe the Universal Chef is still cooking your meal.  (And of course they may wonderfully surpass all of your expectations!)

Activity:

I have used this method myself, and so have many of my friends and clients.  This activity involves letting the Universe know exactly what you are wanting in a love relationship so that it can deliver this to you.  In every single case that I am aware of it has been successful!  I also know of people who have refreshed and revived existing relationships using the same technique.

When you have compiled your list of characteristics and qualities for your desired partner (from the journalling activity before this one), review them until you are satisfied with your choices.

Take a clean white sheet of paper and then write the following:

“I, (Insert your name), now chose the following in my life partner:”

Now write down your list.  Finish the work by writing, “I now accept this or better in my life”.  Sign the work and set it to one side.

Take a second piece of paper.  On this piece write down all of the qualities and characteristics within YOU that you can offer a loving partner.  Be honest and humble.  Sign it with, “I offer this and better to my life partner”.  This part is important because the Universe is governed by laws of energetic exchange – you don’t get anything for nothing!

Now fold both pieces of paper and seal them in an envelope.  In your mind’s eye, imagine these pieces of paper and surround them with a pink bubble of Light.  Send them to Spirit, and whenever you think to in the future, send more pink Light to them.

Put the envelope somewhere safe, and place your expectations to one side.  Be open to what comes to you.  Spirit always surprises us with more good than we could ever imagine for ourselves.

Meditation:

This five minute meditation will help you to consciously connect into the energy of your Soul Mate.  It works on opening your heart chakra, allowing you to radiate love into the world.

This is lovely, and describes this process perfectly.  It will also help YOU get into that wonderful ‘attracting’ vibration of joy and anticipation…

Attracting Love – Part 1

There is only one happiness in life—to love and be loved. ~ George Sands

Love is one of the essential things that all humans need to sustain us, and to make life worthwhile. What is the heart chakra for, if not to give and receive love? We need to make ourselves magnetic to love.

Did you know that we attract what we energetically put out to the Universe, and we also receive love in direct correlation to the amount we feel that we deserve?

Today’s blog post is about getting ready to love – outlining the practical steps that you can take to attract or improve and keep real love within your life. Love for yourself, love for and from others.  Tomorrow we will look at how to attract new love relationships, soul mates and life partners.

Start with yourself

The World mirrors back to us what we energetically put out.  It is impossible for people to love you, help you or nurture you more than you will allow them to.  As you treat yourself, so will others treat you.  The most fundamental action that you can take to improve your love life is to love yourself first.

Self care.

Take time to really take care of yourself.  Look after your health, your fitness and your appearance.   This sends a message to the Universe, and all those within it, that you value yourself, and that you are worth taking care of, and pride in.  Self care also sends a strong message to others about how to treat you.  Self care is not about the ‘Cult of Youth’ portrayed by the media – all artificial appearances, cosmetic surgery and being something or someone you are not.  Self care is all about maintaining and caretaking your physical and emotional body, in the way that a good tenant takes care of their home and land.

Self nurture.

To nurture something is to shower it with love and care, to protect it from negative influences, and to give it the things that will help it to grow strong and healthy.  In some cases, self nurture is also about allowing yourself the time, space and resources to heal.  Self nurture keeps us interesting to ourselves and others, and is what makes our lives rich and fulfilled.  Following and developing our interests forges a strong sense of self, and that then acts like an internal compass which guides our direction and decisions.  Some tips on self nurture here.

Self worth.

What you believe you are worth is what you will attract into your life.  If you constantly attract relationships that are not fulfilling, you need to go further in examining your own beliefs and motivations.  If you are in a relationship that started off well, but has since deteriorated in the quality of loving, look to how you behave – your input into the relationship, your level of self nurture and care, and your beliefs and actions.  Have you ended up putting yourself last, or settling for second best?  To improve your sense of self worth, practice self care and self nurture!

Sometimes when we move into a new relationship we move our own needs aside to focus our attention on the other person.  This sets a dangerous precedent for future action, where you are in a trap of constantly putting yourself last.  Even when you’re in a great relationship, maintaining self care and self nurture are what will help the great relationship remain great, without paying the ultimate price of sacrificing yourself and your identity in the process.

By practicing a higher level of self care and self nurture you can often rejuvenate an existing relationship and put it back on track.  As you change and raise your own vibration, you will also raise the vibrational level of those around you.

Remember that you cannot look to one relationship to satisfy every need in your life.  You need to take responsibility for choosing work, interests and friends that fulfill you too.  As your life broadens and you become more actively involved in pursuing joy, you may find that your relationship is the one you wanted all along!

Meditation:

Journalling:

Today, create a list of positive words and phrases that describe you.  Start with the words “I am”  and finish with the words “I am love, loving, and lovable.  All is well.”

When things are going wrong….

When you’re at the bottom of the relationship barrel of life, the only way is up!

Remove yourself from harm:  If you’re in a dangerous or damaging relationship emotionally or physically, then find a safe space where you can regroup.  This does not mean having to leave the relationship, (although it ultimately may), but it does mean being adult in your thinking, and honestly examining where you are at.  If this is too hard to do at home, then take yourself off on your own for a walk or a coffee, or go away a few days.  You need to be truthful with yourself.  Parent yourself and ask, “If I were my child, would I be satisfied with this relationship for them?”  If not, think carefully about what to do next.  Perhaps it is something that is broken beyond repair, or that you have outgrown, but quite possibly it may be something you can work at.  Seek help if you find you cannot cope, don’t have the tools to fix the problems yourself, or are not in a space for making sound and safe decisions for yourself.  If the person you are with is involved in activities such as drug and alcohol abuse, or is violent, you must look realistically at the fact that no matter how much you try or how much you love that person, only THEY can change, and only if they want to.  Always put your personal safety and the safety of any children first.

Limit exposure to negative influences:  Clean up your act.  Let go of damaging friendships and demanding situations for which there is no positive trade-off.  Feel your pain rather than numbing it with food, sex, alcohol, drugs or negative company.  It is better to be lonely and with a loving attitude to yourself, than with people who say or do things that have a negative impact upon you and those around you.  Look at your past relationship patterns – do you use language such as “I always choose x,y,z” or “I’m just like my (mother, father, etc) I can never (keep a relationship, pick a good one etc).”  Do you subconsciously choose people who will fail to love or respect you in the way that you deserve, or that mirror damaging relationships from your past, such as other family, friends or parents?

Find positive support:  Seek out the company of positive and supportive relatives or friends.  Try new social circles and activities.  Use tools that uplift you, such as reading positive magazines and books, meditating, working with your Guides, and communicating often with Spirit, Angels and your Guides.  Find or make a spiritual space that is a refuge for you, even if it is a corner of a room or garden.  Bring beauty into your life so that the space around you reflects the changes you want to make within you.

Practice extreme self care:  You know what to do.  Look after yourself and treat yourself kindly and with patience.

♥  Sending YOU Love and Light, from my heart to yours, Nicole xx

Healing the Heart Chakra

“Tears are words the heart can’t express” ~ Anon

“The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears”
Native American Saying

Often we look outside ourselves to find comfort, and to release and heal emotional and energetic blockages and traumas.  While there are many loving and qualified people available to help us, sometimes the most simple and intense healings we can have are ones that we conduct on our own behalf.  Today’s blog explores some simple techniques you can use to heal your own heart.

Activity:  Ritual for Healing The Heart Chakra

The most important ingredient here is Right Intent.  The purpose of Ritual is to focus your energy and concentration, and to put your Ego, conscious and unconscious Self on notice that this is important!

Read the ritual thoroughly to be clear about what you need to do, and what tools you may require so that you begin in an organised and calm state.  If you find the ritual helpful, please write and let me know.  I love and appreciate your feedback!

Purpose:  This simple healing ritual is for people who are blocked by fear, loneliness, grief and pain, and who have low self-worth and self-love.  The ritual gradually peels away layers of trapped and negative vibration, and allows a flood of healing light to rebalance and cleanse this chakra.  The treatment is gentle, and can be used over time to allow deeper and deeper levels of trauma to be easily released.  It can also be used for linear (this lifetime) and past life issues clouding your present direction and happiness.

Tools:  An unused white candle, a rose quartz and an amethyst crystal, some carrier oil (such as sweet almond oil) in a china or glass bowl, and a few drops of bergamot oil.

Method:  Leave yourself at least half an hour, and some quiet time afterwards for integration.  Place your candle and the bowl of oil with the two crystals on either side.  Quieten yourself, then light the candle and say the following,  “I release all fear.  I release all pain.  I am Joy.  I am Love.  I now embrace my Sacred Self.”  Sit quietly in front of the candle and close your eyes.  Visualise white Light surrounding your body and streaming into your heart. Feel the presence of a Higher Energy, God, Guides or Angels around you.  You may also want to offer up a Prayer for healing at this time.

When you are ready, take the oil, and rub it into the skin around your heart chakra in a circular anti-clockwise motion.  As you do this, breathe slowly and calmly and recite the following “I invite Love into my Heart.  I invite Love into my Life.  I am worthy and deserving of this Love.  Love is my nature.”  Say this as many times as feels right for you.  Feel your heart chakra gently softening, opening, and releasing the trapped energy.  Visualise Golden Light pouring into your Heart.  When you are finished, say a simple prayer of Thanks.  Sit or lie quietly and allow your body to become accustomed to its new, clearer vibration.

Journalling:

Write a ‘goodbye’ letter to someone from your past, or to a younger you. Say all the things you never said.  Pour your heart out onto the page.  Sign off with love.  Mean it. Let it be a good ending.

Write a ‘welcome’ letter to the love you wish to invite into your life, or the you that you wish to become.  Pour your dreams and desires out onto the page.  Sign off with love and a sense of happy expectation.  Let it be a new beginning.

Meditation:

This is a short (3 minute) meditation using sound, colour and sacred geometry to open and balance your heart chakra, bringing much healing. For those of you who are energetically sensitive or interested in psychic development, pay attention to any energetic sensations around your heart.  You may feel tingling, pulsing, buzzing or opening.  It may also open you to dreams and messages.  Enjoy.  ♥

Working with the energy of forgiveness

“Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.”
Suzanne Somers

Negative emotions can disrupt the flow of your heart chakra just as easily as boulders in a stream. How many boulders have piled up in your heart over time? Each boulder represents a major hurt, a major resentment, a major betrayal or disappointment, a deep wounding, shame or grief.

When the flow is disturbed or slowed, stagnation happens. Stagnant heart flow breeds anger and resentment, depression and self-loathing.  It muddies the clear waters of the heart, and that dirty water spills over into everything you do.

So how do we get those boulders out?

Forgiveness.

Forgiveness of others.  Forgiveness of self.

Forgiveness is the gift that sets us free. It’s not about condoning or approving what has been done, it’s about releasing yourself from the pain and the hurt of the past, and allowing yourself to move from stuckness back into flow.

Meditation on forgiveness:

Here’s a link to a simple guided meditation on forgiveness that can help open and clear your heart chakra:

Nicole Cody’s Guided Meditation on Forgiveness

Journalling:

Allow yourself to feel sorry for yourself for a bit.  Just a little bit.

Or a big bit if that’s what you need.  In that space of reconnecting into misery, start writing, beginning with the words, “If only that had never happened I would have been able to…”

Get it out.  There’s no point keeping it all bottled up.  All this stuff is doing you damage, all these half-truths and misconceptions and limiting beliefs.  Clear your heart stream of these sticks and stones. When you’re done, take a breath. Give yourself a ‘mental’ hug.  Good work. Feel the space you’ve just created in your life.

Activity:

Today, when you feel yourself move into an energy of impatience, resentment, frustration, anger, say in your mind “I forgive you and myself. I wish you well. I send you love. I bless you and I set you free”

Another useful blessing is “All is well in my world. I am love. Love is what I am attracting.”

Here’s a very short, powerful prayer for forgiveness.  Have a peaceful and blessed day. Love and Light, Nicole xx

Feeding the Heart Chakra

Energy of the Heart Chakra

The heart chakra, an energy centre located at our heart, is an open doorway, the anchor for our soul, and the seat of love. Its colour is a magnificent shade of rich emerald green.

When your heart chakra is open and balanced you will be in a space of self-love, self-nurture, generosity, kindness, humour, empathy, non-judgement, happiness, tolerance, expansion, optimism and FLOW.  You’ll see beauty everywhere!

When the chakra is unbalanced you may experience too much empathy, and hypersensitivity to the moods and emotions of others – where you will process these emotions as your own or feel responsible for them.  This is draining emotionally, physically and spiritually.

When the chakra is closed down you may experience loneliness, depression and anxiety, a sense of not belonging, shy away from intimacy and commitment, be overtly critical of self and others, be defensive and even paranoid. This lack of flow can create addiction, including workaholism, because addictions mask and numb PAIN.

In all instances, what the heart chakra needs is LOVE, and to feel good. Treat yourself and others with kindness, and spend time listening to your heart.  Your heart holds all the wisdom of your soul, it truly knows what is best for you and what direction best serves you.  All you need to do is tune in to that wisdom. That’s what we’re going to explore this week!

Activity: Feeding Your Heart Chakra:

Food contains energy, trapped sunlight, known as Bio-photonic Energy.  It also contains a myriad of chemicals, vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fats and all sorts of amazing properties, many of which are not yet known or understood by us. Consciously incorporate some of these heart-chakra friendly foods in your diet, and begin to FEEL the difference.

For the Heart Chakra think green!  Salads, steamed vegetables, green oils, juices and smoothies.  These foods are full of calcium, magnesium, iodine, selenium, sulphur, essential fatty acids, B group vitamins and Vitamin C – all great for heart health, cleansing of the  blood, and general circulation.

Spinach, silverbeet, artichokes, asparagus, broccolini, celery, cucumbers, green capsicums (peppers), leeks, lettuce, all edible green leaves, winter melon, bitter melon, okra, watercress, green beans, broccoli, zucchinis, snow peas, green peas, kale, rocket, chard, asian greens such as bok choi and choi sum, parsley, coriander, shallots, basil, green pesto, sage, thyme, brussel sprouts, avocado, spirulina, seaweeds, cabbage, limes, honeydew melons, kiwi fruit, green grapes, green apples, green pears,  fennel, olives, extra virgin olive oil – cold pressed, hemp oil, green tea, barley greens, pepitas, pistachio nuts, capers, rosemary, green lentils, chlorella, aloe vera, oregano, green lipped mussels, wheatgrass, all forms of sprouts.

One of my favourite recipes for a green smoothie is one cup of coconut milk (or coconut water and flesh from young coconut) and a few handfuls of young spinach leaves, a frozen banana, dash of organic vanilla and a spoonful of spirulina.

And for a beginners green juice you can’t go past apple, cucumber, zucchini (trust me – it makes it so creamy and delish!), parsley, celery and a hint of ginger.

Journalling:

One of the most powerful ways to work with the energy of the Heart Chakra is to recognise what makes you happy.  Today, write a list of things you enjoy, are grateful for, and that make you smile and feel good.

If you have time, and feel so inclined, create a collaged double-page spread in your journal of pictures, images and words that uplift you and speak to your heart. If you like, go crazy and make a full-sized dreamboard.

Simple Meditation:

Picture your heart chakra as a rose bud, tightly furled and lusciously green, and then opening into a beautiful red rose with the most gorgeous fragrance. Do this once or daily.  And use some rose scent or a fresh rose to anchor this new energy!

This short clip has an excellent visual for you:

Above all, this week, choose to feel good.  Even if that means you don’t win the argument, or get the last word in, or be ‘right’.  Let this week be about flow, and ease and listening to your HEART.

Focus on you.  Focus on happiness, and on drawing into your world more of the energies and activities that nurture you, uplift you, make you smile, make you FEEL all of that incredible love that is within you and all around you.

The happier and better you feel, the higher your vibration.  The higher your vibration, the more good you attract into your life. Trust me on this – it really works.

I’ll be meditating all week on heart healing and helping you open up to the wisdom and love within you.  Know that you are much loved ♥ Nicole xx

A heart-centred week!

“This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”

- Dalai Lama

This week I’m going to focus on all things to do with the Heart Chakra. We’re going to have a heart-centred week. Starting tomorrow there will be activities, meditations and journalling techniques to help you to explore, heal and connect with your heart centre, and to attract more love into your life.  I’ll also be doing work for you in my own daily healing meditations

In this space of greater connection with our hearts we have increased self love and self worth.  We can attract loving relationships with others, and we move to a more positive emotional space.

Working with the energies of the heart also increases our intuition and psychic connection.

At the end of this week I shall also be giving away a beautiful Heart Chakra healing necklace, that uses crystals chosen specifically for their ability to work with the heart, including bloodstone, nephrite, jasper, green aventurine, prehnite, hematite and pearls.

To have a chance to win the necklace you just need to leave a comment after one of this week’s blog posts.

I hope you join me for this heart-centred week! Life is precious.  Live from the heart. Love and Light, Nicole xx

6 February update:  The winner of the necklace is Suzie Cheel.  Congratulations!
