How to become more intuitive…

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” ~ Albert Einstein

All of us are intuitive but many of us become dominated by our minds, and as I often tell my clients, over-thinking chokes off our natural intuitive wisdom.

For those of us who have become used to living in our minds, connecting into this natural wisdom, and the flow of energy and information all around us can seem like an impossible task. But I promise you, intuition is your birth right – and the ability to be intuitive resides within every living thing.

Simple steps for increasing intuition:

The most important thing we can do in our daily lives to foster the development of our intuition is to make time for connection.  For some people this will be the first step in opening up to psychic abilities as well. It is vital that we get out of our heads and back into our bodies.

  • Drink more water – being hydrated always enhances connection.
  • Turn off the computer and the television and sit in silence.  This can be further improved by taking time to sit in nature.
  • Practice tuning in – by bring your conscious focus to something and then relaxing and stilling your mind, allowing yourself to become open to any impressions or information you might receive. (I know this can be incredibly hard at first for head-dominated people but it will get easier.)
  • Meditate.
  • Eat a diet rich in natural, fresh foods, which are full of vibrant energy and that clean up our own vibration.
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Avoid substances that dull our sensitivity, or that ramp it up in unnatural ways – such as caffeine, sugar, alcohol, recreational drugs – all of these inhibit true intuitive connection.

Guided Meditation to increase your intuitive ability

I’ve recorded a simple guided meditation to help you to soften and open up to your own intuitive connection. All you need to do is set aside ten minutes where you won’t be disturbed, and then close your eyes and listen to my voice.

Nicole Cody’ Guided Meditation for Developing Psychic Connection

With practice, you will find that intuition will begin to inform you, and better connect you into life and everything around you. You may also find that your abilities begin to go beyond just intuition, and into the realms of the metaphysical. (And if they do, I have tools and teachings for that too.)  Trust. Know that you are a spiritual BEing, made of pure source energy, living within a human body. All you ever have to do is relax, open and allow.

Much love to you. ♥♥♥

Working with Crystal Grids – Day Four

Crystals have their own energetic field, just as humans do, and one of the great things about crystals is that you can also use them to create geometric shapes within which you can create an energetic room or field big enough to exert energy and influence over a wider space.  This technique is known as gridding.

Today I’m going to show you the basics of creating simple grids at home.

 How a Crystal Grid Works

Crystals each have their own particular vibration, and an electromagnetic or auric field around them.  All living things also have a unique vibration, and auric as well as etheric fields (This is just the energy field emitted by a living thing).  When a crystal is introduced to a human’s auric field, there is a shift of vibrational energy.  The crystal may be able to accept and transmute the lower or negative vibrations within that person’s auric field, allowing that person to move to a clearer or higher vibration.

Crystal energy can be used to restore order to a chaotic vibrational field, or to increase vibrational level, which helps to move you to a more positive and lighter energy.  Crystals may impart a vibration particular to that type of stone which can help, heal or impart particular vibrational qualities and strengths. Gridding with crystals involves amplifying the vibration of a crystal by using it in conjunction with others.  This is a bit like turning up the volume on your radio, while adding additional radio towers to strengthen the frequency.

Gridding Basics

Gridding involves using a number of similar or complimentary crystals, placed in a configuration.  The most common shape is a square or oblong, but triangles and circles are also common.  Circles are fun to make, and I often make one during equinoxes or full moons. It recharges my stones and when I sit in it, it recharges me!

The grid below, which was made in my backyard for an eclipse, was big enough for several people to lie within.  It was a great place for a nap and I couldn’t keep my dogs out of it!

More intricate grid shapes involve using a larger number of crystals.  A generator crystal can be used in the center of the configuration to amplify the energy of the outer crystals, and to strengthen the vibration.

I have made grids to go in the foundations of houses, and one of my favourite configurations is a Fibonacci Spiral. But that is a fairly complex process, and today I promised I would keep things simple.

A grid of crystals can be placed near you in a room where you work or rest.  However, for maximum effect it is best if you can actually sit or lie within the grid itself.  Common ways to place a grid are to lay the stones out around a chair, bed, meditation space or desk.  You can also grid a room by placing crystals in the room corners, or grid your house by placing crystals at the extreme corners of that house.  (You may need more than four to cover every corner).

Another effective technique is to grid the perimeter of your house, placing the crystals along your fence line.  Larger, more robust crystals are often best for this, and they will be self cleansing and generating.  However, do not judge the energy level of the crystal by size alone!  Some of the most powerful stones can often be no bigger than a pebble.

Additional Gridding Uses

Grids can be used to aid sleep, healing and mental alertness.  They can be used to help with Meditation and for connecting with Higher Self, Guides, and Past Lives.  Grids can assist with creativity, abundance and manifesting and maximizing your natural talents.  They can provide protection and wisdom.

You can use grids to help your garden grow, to vitalize herbs, fruits and vegetables.  Pets often benefit from a grid placed in their sleeping area.  Grids can be discretely placed to encourage harmony, healing or honesty within a situation.  They can also be used to absorb the negativity of others without this energy being passed to you.  People who have experienced problems with psychic attack can often be greatly assisted in this way.  In fact, whatever the natural vibrational properties of the crystal, they will be passed to you.

A Rose Quartz Grid has greatly enhanced my strawberries and tomatoes!

To Build Your Own Crystal Grid:

We are going to work with the most basic shape – a square whose corners are anchored by a crystal. So you will need four crystals to build your grid, and you may like to select a fifth one to hold as you sit in the centre. Use this grid to raise your vibration, and enhance your own energy field. (This is also great done around your bed for helping heal you while you sleep!)

This exercise is based on the principles of sacred geometry.  It will facilitate health, healing, clarity and connection.Set your intent by offering up a prayer or energetic intention that this exercise be for your Highest Good.Set up your Crystal Grid, using the four  crystals, by laying them out in a square.Visualise a pyramid of White Light extending up from the crystals, and one extending down into the floor, creating an energetic three dimensional diamond shape. It should look like this:

Sit, lie or stand inside this Light Grid.

Bring Light in through your Crown Chakra.  Use your intuition as to what colour Light to use.

Flood your body with Light.  On every inhale, draw Light into your body. On every exhale, see wispy grey energy leaving your body via your lungs or Base Chakra, and being drained through the bottom of the Pyramid.

Continue until your body feels light and calm.

Enhance this meditation by holding crystals whose characteristics or properties you wish to assimilate into your energetic field.  Women hold the crystal with hands cupped left on the bottom and right on top, palm upwards.  Men reverse this position, so that the left hand is on top and right underneath.

Recharging your Grid

Crystals need to be cleaned and re-energised from time to time, unless they are outside, planted in or on the earth, where they will be self charging.  With practice you will know when your crystals need attention because you will feel their energy decreasing.  There are many ways to cleanse and recharge your crystals.  If you are using your crystals regularly, take care of them and cleanse them often.

Using Crystals to Access Information – Day Three

Using crystals is a great way to begin accessing information for yourself and others, and can gently open you up to greater levels of spiritual and psychic gifts and awakening.

Although quartz crystals are the most common stone for this sort of connection, I believe that you need to work with the crystal you are drawn to.  My very first working stone was an aventurine shaped roughly like a heart that fit nicely in the palm of my hand. (For more information on how to choose a crystal click here.)

Crystals are great teachers.  They can hold much wisdom, and allow us to tap into information stored within us, within our Higher Selves, within the Akashic Records, and within Guides and other energetic Beings.

When I was young I never, ever thought I would be able to channel or do work at the level I am at now. I was such a skeptic even though my own natural abilities had been evident much of my life. I was okay with receiving information as it came to me, but felt very uncertain about attempting to make it happen deliberately.  I was uncomfortable with even trying this sort of activity, but I found as my resistance decreased and I became more open, things flowed much more easily.

So it doesn’t matter if you feel awkward or uncomfortable with today’s activity – just enter with a sense of innocence and childlike curiosity and you might be amazed at what comes to Light. ♥

Meditation for Accessing Guidance and Information from a Crystal:

Choose a stone you feel drawn to work with, clease it and then sit somewhere comfortable so that you can follow this meditation.  You may like to burn incense or light a candle to further enhance your experience.

Nicole Cody’s Guided Meditation for Connecting with Crystal Wisdoms – Day 3

It is useful to keep a journal to record any impressions, information or names from your meditation sessions. You might even feel inspired to draw or paint!

(PS – The stone I used today during this meditation was a Canadian Labradorite – that’s it in the picture below.)

Storing and handling crystals

If possible, wrap crystals you are not using, or that you are transporting, in a natural fabric such as silk, cotton, wool, linen or hemp.  Use your intuition when selecting fabrics – maybe a patterned scarf, a scrap of velvet, a bag you found at the markets, or even a pretty handkerchief could be used.

You may also wish to place crystals on a window ledge, in a potplant, or in a positive energy place within your home.

Once you have cleansed your crystals, be selective about who you allow to touch them because stones will absorb the energies of the people who handle them.  You may find that there are some stones you need to keep just for you, while others may invite handling from anyone!  After working with a stone for a long time, and investing a lot of your own energy into it, you may find that just holding that stone will take you to a positive, calmer, more meditative or healing state.

Dealing with Psychic Anxiety

Over the years I have come to recognise a certain set of feelings, to which I have given the name ‘Psychic Anxiety’. It’s a very unpleasant sensation that can last from an hour to a couple of days, and it is one of the least fantastic aspects of being spiritually and energetically sensitive.

Oh, don’t get me wrong.  It’s not unbearable, and in fact I have worse feelings related to psychic work at times, especially if it involves violent crimes and dead people.

The biggest problem with psychic anxiety is this unshakable feeling of dread and unease, that sensation of icy chills and ‘something crawling over your grave’ as my Nana calls it.

People who are psychic, or sensitive, generally feel the highs and lows of life more acutely. I like this diagram below, because for me it represents the differences between me and someone who is less sensitive.

Image from http://www.acoustics.salford.ac.uk

Most people live in the middle of the red and green lines, and can go to the high or low of those fields, but may seldom do so. They also usually have a greater physical resilience, a robustness to them.

Energetically sensitive people are represented by the blue line.  We feel and react to energies both above and below those regular red and green bands, although we may also live somewhere in the middle of our band of felt frequencies most of the time. Sensitive people are just that – sensitive – and without the robustness of some other folk. We may act with great robustness for a while, while we are needed or need to get things done, but that sort of energetic output is always at a price.  And sometimes that price is high.

The blessing of sensitivity is that we can feel, see, connect with and know some wonderful and amazing things. It is easy for us to tap into creative flow, to feel love and gratitude, to notice things around us and with the emotions of people around us, and to get high on life…

The difficulty is that sometimes it connects us into those low energies, and this is a painful experience on a soul level, tough emotionally and sometimes physically hard as well.

Usually if I get a psychic message or connection out of the blue (in other words I’m not consciously inviting or controlling it) it feels like this – a big bang on an otherwise normal day:

Uniform sine wave excitation graphic from opensees.berkeley.edu

I get a sudden flood of images, sounds, sensations, feelings, knowledge – all flooding me with a great intensity.  It’s momentary, it passes; although the information will remain, the emotions and energetic kick dissipate quickly.

Psychic anxiety is different.  It’s like an unseen hand rachets up the control knob.  I can’t turn the emotions and energetic kick down or off, but I am also given no information. All I have is the feeling, sometimes so strong that it wipes me out in the same way a severe migraine might. Like an old TV with no image on the screen, cranking out a discordant sound that makes you want to cover your ears or run away screaming.

I know that certain things affect me.  When there are polar shifts I end up flat and exhausted, a little depressed, and often with big hormonal swings.  When there are solar flares I feel restless, unable to sleep, irritable and wound up tight.

But this, this is different.  And I’m grateful it doesn’t happen too often. It’s always tied into great disaster, injustice, cruelty, suffering, death. It’s either building up to happen, or happening as I feel it.

In the days to come the news may let me know what it was all about.  That’s how it was for September 11, the Bali bombing, the tsanamis in 2004 and again last year in Japan.

Sometimes I find out years later – a massacre in Kosovo, in Iraq, in Rwanda…

Sometimes I never find out at all.

So I ride it out.  I keep myself away from crowds.  I swim in the ocean.  I sit under trees, walk in the rain, spend time in the gracious and calming company of my cows.

When I feel stronger I meditate.  I pray.  I light candles. I flood the world with love.  It’s all that I can do. A tiny flicker of light in what can seem like a sea of darkness. But I do it anyway and hope that somehow it helps.

Living as a Sensitive Soul

As most of you know, I’m psychic, and have been this way to varying degrees all my life. All of us are intuitive – that’s our birthright, and it’s hardwired into us. Even the most disconnected or ‘non-believing’ of us will still have gut feelings or hunches strong enough that we can acknowledge and act upon them.

But some of us have a much greater sensitivity than that. If you have experienced any of the following (not as a result of mental illness, or a drug or illness induced state!) then this post is written for you:

  • lucid dreaming
  • deja vu
  • precognitive dreams or visions
  • awareness about people, places, objects or events that has no rational cause nor explanation
  • an ability to know information about people
  • sensing the energy field around people or places, and having that affect your body or emotions
  • seeing energy, faces, or other images either in your mind’s eye or through your own eyes
  • hearing voices or knowledge not your own – either as a physical sound, or as a voice, knowing or thought that arises inside you that you somehow understand is not your own
  • having remembrance or recognition of past lives
  • being drawn to psychic activities and tools, such as cards, books, courses, modalities and crystals – where you feel compelled to have or work with these, even when your rational mind protests or doesn’t understand
  • sudden recognition of things previously not known to you – such as knowing the names or uses for things outside your profession or fields of study, or knowing your way around a place you have not ever visited
  • sensing, seeing or hearing Guides, Angels, those who have crossed over, and other energetic beings
  • connection with star people, recurring dreams about or remembered incidences of UFO or alien encounters – these are often not threatening or unpleasant
  • recurring dreams for which you have no explanation
  • a strong sense that you are here to do something, to contribute something, to help in some way – this feeling becomes stronger over time until, if you haven’t worked out what it is yet, it becomes almost a sense of despair or desperation
  • saying or writing things without knowing where the information is coming from
  • performing healing, art, writing, music and other creative acts where you suddenly ‘know’ what to do, even if you have never been shown before
  • understanding animals, children or others with no voice to communicate
  • sudden strong emotions flooding over you that are totally unrelated to what is happening right now

I’m sure there’s more that I could add to that list, but that’s a start…

If you’re sensitive energetically then you are bound to be sensitive in other areas of your life.  This is especially true if you are going through a process of spiritual or psychic awakening. At a time of awakening, energies and abilities that have been dormant within you begin to assert themselves in your life.  This can be quite a turbulent and confusing time.

From long experience, these are my suggestions about how to live as a Sensitive Soul as you begin to Awaken.

  • Rest.  When we’re growing and changing, rest is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves.
  • Avoid crowded places such as shopping centres and football games when you are feeling particularly sensitive or energetically vulnerable.
  • Avoid difficult relationships and people who drain, upset or unbalance you.  Limit contact with the crazy-makers in your life.
  • Eat well.  Favour organic foods, with an emphasis on fresh, local produce, with plenty of leafy green vegetables and root vegetables, rice, pulses and yoghurt. Avoid processed food and sugar. Some people may need to avoid meat at this time.  Others may need meat to ground them.  Listen to your body.  If you’re especially sensitive avoid wheat as well.
  • Avoid alcohol, drugs and stimulants.
  • Take a good powdered magnesium supplement.  Your muscles and nervous system use magnesium to relax and it we also burn it like rocket fuel when we are engaging in energy work and psychic activity.
  • Drink plenty of fresh, clean water.
  • Use yoga, qi gung or tai chi to ground you and move energy through your body.
  • Spend time in nature.
  • Spend time on your own, exploring the things that interest you.
  • Avoid chemicals in your cleaning and personal care products. Avoid places that have a strong artificial or chemical energy.
  • Use natural and alternate therapies to help clear and support your body.
  • Meditate.
  • Pray, and talk with God.
  • Explore vibrational therapies such as bush or bach flower essences, crystals, music, colour and aromatherapy.
  • Trust, look for support and know that things do get easier over time.

I’ve created a very simple six minute guided meditation to help you open to your spiritual gifts in an energy of safety and protection. Once you know the basics you can easily guide yourself through the process on your own.  Love and Light, Nicole xx

Journal for Spiritual Clarity and Connection 4 – All about my Soul

You don’t have a soul.  You are a Soul.  You have a body.  ~C.S. Lewis

Week 4:  All About My Soul

We are all Spiritual Beings.  We cannot separate ourselves from our Spirituality, just as we cannot separate ourselves from our Physicality.  However, just as we can become physically unfit and unhealthy, we can also become disconnected from our awareness of and trust in our Inner Connectedness.

This week we are going to work on connecting into our own Soul Wisdom. So often we let our minds guide and inform us, or the thoughts and opinions of others. But there is a source of great truth and inspiration within us – and by looking within ourselves we can find answers to things we’ve wondered on forever.  We’re going to start this week with a pledge to ourselves.  It’s a daily thing, so if your choose, recommit to it daily.  But the pledge lasts only 24 hours, so it is entirely do-able.

Just for today I will be gentle and generous with myself.  I will allow myself the freedom to think, feel, experience and express the emotions, creativity and soul wisdom I have locked inside me.  Just for today I will put self criticism and self judgement aside and just BE.

Just for today I will support and encourage those around me.  I will refrain from criticisms, gossip and unkind words or actions towards myself and others.  Just for today I will be a friend to myself, and to the people I meet.

Journal Exercise:

Spend time journaling to explore your gifts, talents and passions this week.  Work out what you value, and what your personal and professional priorities are.

Try to remember what you were good at as a younger person, and what you enjoyed doing back then. Those things are often clues to a Self we have forgotten or left behind…

Go through old photos, letters and books.  Recapture some lost aspects of yourself. Use all of this, and the following starters to write:

  • I was sure, when I was small, that I wanted to…
  • An area I have always felt passionate about is…
  • A hobby that allows me to express myself well is…
  • Environments I feel really at home in are…
  • Places that always make me uncomfortable are…
  • If I could identify a past life for myself it would surely be…
  • One thing I stand for is…
  • I feel alive when I am…
  • It kills me a little inside every time I have to…
  • When I was at school the thing I really excelled at was…
  • I’ve never been much good at…
  • The things that came naturally to me as a child were…
  • I know it’s not necessarily valued, but I am really good at…
  • When I look at old photographs of myself I realise…
  • When I look into my future I would like to see…
  • I’d forgotten I was so interested in…
  • If I could turn back time and study anything it would be…
  • The strengths in me are…
  • I have always felt a spiritual connection or feeling when…
  • If I was tuned in better to my gut feelings I would…
  • My intuition is telling me…
  • Places that uplift me are…
  • Places that comfort me are…
  • My ideal life would look like this…
  • Realistic changes I can make are…

Activity:

Be kind to yourself and others. Reconnect with people you care about, and who care about you.

Visit a meditation group, church, temple, beach or some place that holds spiritual and replenishing energy for you. Go on your own or with friends, but go!

Make a commitment to yourself to live authentically. Stand up and give voice to what you believe in. Let your values guide you. Live by your principles.  You can do this in a quiet way, by voting with your shopping dollar or writing letters, or in a bigger way.  It’s up to you!

Plan some longer term changes in your career or personal life to better reflect your talents, gifts and values.  Invest in yourself, your education, and your interests. Live your best life!

Opening your Heart to Give and Receive

The Heart Chakra is both a receiver and a transmitter for love and wisdom. The more we open our heart by giving, the more we can connect into receiving.  This positive vibration of flow allows us to live from our hearts as intuitive, clear and compassionate beings.

Every heart is capable of hearing the whisperings of another...

Activity:  Our hearts love to love. Here are some suggestions for expressing that energy in the world this week:

  • Play with your pets, or go feed ducks in the local park. Animals are wonderfully intuitive, loving and giving.  Make a connection that expands your own heart.
  • Read to a child, or even to an adult.
  • Catch up with friends for a coffee, a meal or a movie.
  • Play tennis with a friend, or go to a yoga class together. Do anything athletic that involves someone else, some encouragement, some sharing and some laughing.
  • Visit or call an elderly relative or a family member who’ll be glad to see you!
  • Spend an hour giving random but sincere compliments to strangers. Tell the waitress you like her earings, or the supermarket boy that you’re grateful for the skilful way he packs your bag so your bread doesn’t get squashed. Smile. Leave a kind and supportive message on a pillow, tucked into a pocket, or posted on a blog.
  • Volunteer, and care for others in some way. Humans love to give, and to help, and to be united in the energy of that caring.
  • Plan a party or a special event to bring together people that you love, even if that event doesn’t take happen straight away.
  • Join a retreat, workshop or holiday tour and meet new friends.  Be open to connecting with others.

Journalling:

Meet your heart on the page. Take a minute or two to calm yourself, by closing your eyes and breathing deeply. Focus on your heart, and build that energy within you.  Visualise the colour green.  (If you wish, work with the energy of the meditation below before you begin!)  When you are ready start writing, starting with the words, “The thing my wise heart really needs my conscious mind to know is…”

Meditation:

This six minute meditation will help you tap into your heart’s own intuition and wise guidance, opening you up to deeper and deeper levels of spiritual connection.

How to nurture your Spiritual Connection

“Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”  Joseph Cambell

We are spiritual BEings, and when we begin to understand this, and to discover and honour this connection to Soul and to Source, miracles begin to happen.  There are many ways to nurture our Soul, and to develop our Spiritual and Psychic gifts. ( I’ll list a few of them here, but I’ll also explore this theme in future blog posts.)

Have you seen the bumper sticker that says “We are all Spiritual Beings having a Human Experience”.  If you’re reading this, chances are that you are awakening to your own Spiritual Self.  I remember when I first began to be aware of my own Spirituality.  It was an exciting and difficult time in my life.  It was also confusing, because I had little direction and did not know where to begin.

We don’t become Spiritual, because we already are.  Acknowledging our spiritual aspect is actually just a step towards balance and wholeness in our lives.  But how do we do this?

If you want to get fit and healthy, you change your lifestyle and start to exercise.  As your body becomes accustomed to these changes it responds by being able to do more, by replacing fat with muscle and energising you.  There’s not much difference with developing spiritual “fitness”.  It involves lifestyle choices and committing to exercises that help you to find and strengthen your spiritual and psychic self.  Here’s some to get you started:

  1. Wake up happy.  If you are not happy keep working on feeling good.  Don’t get out of bed until you are in a better head-space!!!  Stretch in bed, feel good, and surround yourself with white light, drawing it deep into your body.  Then  seal your aura with a layer of colour, like putting a shell around an egg.  Choose the colour you are most drawn to, and know that this will have a benefit for you.
  2. Meditate – meditation is the act of mindful awareness, and it can take many forms.  Here is a simple meditation to try:
  3. Time in nature – Stand with your bare feet on the ground, and feel the energy of the Earth anchoring and grounding your body.  Feel the sun, sky or moon and stars above you, radiating cosmic energy that enters from the top of your head.  Sit leaning against a tree and feel its wise energy nurture you.  Watch birds or animals and seek wisdom and messages from them.
  4. Journal – Daily writing helps to create a space for self-knowledge, healing and contemplation. More tips on that here.
  5. Daily card or rune – Choose some runes or a deck of spiritual or inspirational cards such as Angel Cards or Osho Zen Tarot. Each day close your eyes, offer up a prayer for guidance and then choose one card and let its wisdom enrich your understanding by giving you new perspectives.
  6. Eat to lift your vibration – The fresher the food, the higher its vibration.  Favour organic, seasonal, minimally processed and cruelty-free.  Drink lots of water too!
  7. Get plenty of rest – When we are rested we are calmer, and more able to hear our inner wisdom.
  8. Say no to drugs, and limit consumption of alcohol, caffeine, sugar and any form of chemical additive. Things that alter your consciousness or hype you up also disconnect you from clarity, reality, soul wisdom and Spirit.
  9.  Be discerning about your choice of sexual partners.  Sexual intimacy opens up the energy fields of the parties involved, and there is great transference of energy between you.  People who lead a lifestyle of lack of regard for their physical and emotional well-being, who take drugs, consume lots of alcohol, and indulge in promiscuity, negative and violent thinking will have unbalanced energy, or worse. When you have sex you open yourself up to all of this. Is this what you want to knowingly expose yourself, your home and loved ones to?
  10. Call on God, your Angels and Guides.  None of us is ever alone.  There is love and wisdom all around us, and all we ever have to do is ask, and then stay open to that guidance.
  11. Trust your intuition – it’s like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it gets!
  12. Live in the moment – Here is where your power is.  Not in the past.  Not in the future. Be present in the here and now.
  13. Be brave – love deeply.
  14. Ask for teachers to come into your life – this might be in the form of books, friends, workshops, mentors.  Go with what you are drawn to and discard the rest.
  15. Love and approve of Yourself as you are NOW!

January 1, 2012 – Contemplation, dreaming and divination

Happy New Year, and welcome to the energies of 2012!  New Year’s Day is always a special time for me. I like to welcome the day with meditation, and then spend some time over the course of the day contemplating my year ahead, asking for spiritual guidance, and writing in my journal.  For me it is a day of planning and dreaming, and spending time with people and activities that matter to me.  (See my post on how you can work out what matters to you here)

I have one tarot deck that I use only for the first day of the new year.  I have done this for over 20 years, and it is something I look forward to as a touchstone to set the themes of my year and to live with greater awareness and understanding.  I don’t use it as a predictive tool – rather I use it for reflection, and to seek guidance about qualities, actions and perspectives that might benefit me over the next twelve months.

This morning I asked for one card for you – to give YOU guidance over the year ahead.  This is my personal interpretation of that card for you.  Take what resonates as truth for you, and discard the rest.

The CHARIOT – Guiding you into 2012

See 2012 as a year of great potential, as a year of great change.  Change will happen anyway, for that is the nature of this Universe, and of our lives, but to actively drive that change will bring better results for you this year, and give you the satisfaction of personal empowerment, rather than being in an energy of just letting things ‘happen’ to you.  Make sure that you are the driver of your own chariot – it is unwise to give away your power, especially in charting the direction of your life.

Equally, you will benefit from finding a rhythm between action/doing and periods of contemplation and quiet time that nurtures and replenishes you.  This is a year full of opportunity, but not all opportunities will be aligned with your skills, desires and purpose, no matter how attractive they may seem, so always take time to tune into your inner knowing, and ask yourself that most important of questions: ‘Will this choice or action honour me and serve my goals?

Give attention to the depth of your nature. You are a soul, having a human experience, and that experience is felt through the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Make time for each of these aspects, for when one is ignored it throws the others into imbalance, and the ramifications may cause the wheels to fall off your chariot, or at least slow you down as the tyres go flat.  This year can bring such momentum for you, so it is wise to ensure the stability of your ‘vehicle’ by acknowledging and honouring your complex nature so that you can keep pace with this momentum without breaking or causing peril to yourself or others. Be mindful to make your life, relationships and practices sustainable.  Be wary of over-committing and the propensity for this level of activity and stress to cause illness, depression and burnout. One again I want to emphasise seek balance between activity and quiet times.

Some of what you have sown in the past (and had feared would never come to pass) will finally be available for harvest this year, but keep sowing seeds for tomorrow, and the days and years to come.  Crops (of ideas, actions, thoughts etc) sown over 2012, and nurtured with enthusiasm, dedication and discipline will  bring encouraging yields for you in the times ahead.  Even if others are facing lean times, or talking of failure and doom, work diligently on your own dreams and trust in good outcomes.

Allow home to be your anchor this year – devote energy to your dwelling space and how it supports you, and spend time on the relationships that matter.  From that place of safe anchor then, dare to roam.  Plan travel, seek out events and places that broaden your horizons and increase your education, knowledge and awareness. (This could even be done through books and the arts too.)  Travel unfamiliar roads with an open heart and mind, but always hold the image of that safe anchor of home so that you stay oriented to who you truly are, and what truly matters in your life.

This is a time of great soul growth, bringing with it the potential for deeper spiritual connection and inner peace.  It is also a time for awakening to your innate talents, your psychic and metaphysical gifts, and the One-ness and inter-connection of all.  Meditation and regular practice of such things as walking, yoga, qi gung and other forms of mindful movement will help to centre you in truth and awareness and to create stability between the physical and non-physical aspects of yourself.  Seek teachers and activities that help you to grow in your chosen field; be that healing, writing, gardening, art or rocket science.

If you want to make over yourself, your relationships, your career or the world in some way, 2012 gives you an exceptional vehicle for making this positive change a reality.  But 2012 is merely a vehicle – you need to provide the fuel (through passion, health and energy), the direction (through clear goals and purpose) and the driver (you, rested and clear, and ready to take responsibility for your life).

Set clear boundaries, stand up for yourself and step into your power.  This truly can be your best year yet!  Love and Light, Nicole ♥ xx

Simple 2012 Guided Meditation for you

I’ve recorded a very homespun meditation for you, to help you connect with the energies of this new year.  All you need to do is sit comfortably, close your eyes, and listen to my voice guiding you through the process.  You’ll find it easy, even if you’ve never really meditated before.

It also uses the technique of centering which I discussed in yesterday’s post. The most important thing is to relax, and be easy in your body, and have an intention of being open in heart and mind.

(Thanks to Evgeni Dinev for this beautiful image!)

2012 brings us so many opportunities for healing, growth, love and increased awareness.  My intent for you is that you are able to connect with this energy and experience positive transformation, happiness and contentment in the year ahead.

The following meditation takes approximately fifteen minutes, although you may stay in that space longer, if you wish. Just click on the link below. Sending you Blessings, Love and Light, Nicole xx
