Update from Lyme Land

“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.”
~ Winston Churchill

It’s been eighteen months since my Lyme diagnosis, and fourteen months since I began treatment with an intensive regime of antibiotics and specifically targeted herbs.

On top of all of the other good things I was already doing that had sustained my life, but not healed me.

For those of you who’ve been following my journey, you’ll know it’s been a long and tough road. And I still have a long way to go. Perhaps another two years of treatment yet. Maybe more.

But truly, I can FEEL the progress I’m making now. Little by little I am beginning to reclaim my life. I am having, on balance, more good days than bad. The bad days are bad, but not nightmarishly so. I can cope with them.

I am still suffering pain, and insomnia. I still suffer from periods of intense fatigue. I have days where I can barely lift my head from the pillow and the night brings only more pain and no relief. But on a good day I have a sense of returning strength. My brain works – almost all the time. I have the energy to do a little housework, to do a little gardening – and not be completely wrecked afterwards.

I’m writing. And writing. And writing.

I am beginning to think in possibilities. There is once again room in my life for dreams.

Above all, I want to say thank you. For sticking with me. For sending me messages of support. For helping me hang in there when I truly didn’t think I could go another step.

I have no idea what ‘well’ will ultimately look like for me, but I’m excited to have the chance to find out.

Much love to you, Nicole xoxo

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. Hi Nicole,
I have been frantically trawling the net for information on a Lyme literate GP or specialist close to the Sunshine Coast. I have read through all of your blogs and comments on this website. Would you be so kind to contact me by email and let me know who you see. Thank you in advance- Vanessa 🙂

  2. That is such wonderful news, Nicole. You may still be in the tunnel…but the light at the end of it is getting brighter and brighter. I continue to pray for your massive healing. — Lucinda xo

  3. so glad the healing is continuing and that the good days more than balance out the awful ones. thank you for the beautiful quote at the end of this post. sometimes we have to start over from scratch to make our life better….yes indeed! love, pamela

  4. Dearest, dearest Nicole! A very busy semester (busier than I have had on a long time) has kept me away from commenting for a few months, but I have been following your journey to health and wellness and have been cheering on your progress even though my words have been absent. Now that the semester is over and all grades are submitted, I am so happy to be able to send a quick note to say how glad I am to hear that you are feeling an improvement and looking forward to the future.

I know in my heart that NYC is somewhere in that future! Will be waiting!!!! Much love, Daisy

  5. Nicole, I cannot ever thank you enough. Your experience, strength and hope, courage and insight have expressed exactly what was needed time and time again. I, along with all of your cyber and real world community, am so grateful that you are finally receiving the blessings of feeling changes for the good. Or at least less awful 🙂
    Thank you for fighting on.

  6. Nicole,
Sending you prayers and healing energy for continued recovery. You must continue on this path and know your body…when you need rest simply REST…if you push yourself to much you will only step back in your recovery. I know it’s a long journey for you but you have a great team of cheerleaders routing for you. Have a great weekend. Love , light and blessings to you today and always.
    Bridget

  7. Nicole, we are all so lucky that you are healing and on your way to wellness.
Thank you for your tenacity and fierceness of spirit.
Your words and being are truly inspirational.
Good luck and keep on keeping on.

  8. Nicole, what a wonderful quote. I had come to that realisation some time ago but had not put the words together quite so well so that I could pass them on to someone in need.
You are an amazing woman and your courage is one of the things that draws others to you. It is also one of the things that will get you through this and any other trial. Léa

  9. Dear Nicole, I had met you through your skills and your workshops for a while before you were diagnosed. Little did I know when we first met that my daughter who had been not diagnosed for 10 years was going to tread this same path. You also read for my daughter and in fact told her that she had been bitten by a vector that had caused an infection. So correct. Your telling of your own journey also helps others who are in their own whirlopool of fight, pain, nausea and lethargy. This is one horrid condition to fight. It is hard to know what you will build back to, but back you will all be, and dewfinitely in a healthier place. I bless you for sharing your story, and know that this exchange has made many of us pray and send love light and rainbows to heal you and all others who are suffering from Lyme. It is horrifying that it is not recognised or diagnosed in Australia. A fight for another day. For know it is love hrealing and light to you and to all those with Lyme. Love and rsinbows always. Jocelyn

  15. I pray for you everyday, my daughter has been suffering with the lyme disease for over five years before being diagnosed. Since then she has been looking for a cure. Your post mean so much to all of us knowing how debilitating it can be. You have some very positive thoughts.

  16. Dearest Nicole
Recalling something I read last evening “Miracles reawaken the awareness that the spirit, not the body, is the altar of truth”. Thankyou for continuing to share with us your healing journey, and the many ways you actively polish your perceptions to restore and invigorate your state of miracle-readiness. You are an inspiration. Namaste & Nameh.
