“And this mess is so big
And so deep and so tall,
We cannot pick it up.
There is no way at all!”
~ Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat

“Perpetual devotion to what a man calls his business, is only to be sustained by perpetual neglect of many other things.”
~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Hello, Lovelies 🙂

Today (in Australia anyway!) we welcome April. I promised that I would support you in making the most of this year’s opportunities, so here’s my Heads Up about the month ahead, as well as a few suggestions for embracing all that April has to offer.

Card for the Month:

I’ve chosen two cards for April for you: one from the Osho Zen Tarot Deck, and one from Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Hidden Realms. Remember that I don’t use these cards in the conventional way, but rather as a stimulus for channelled information.

Here is what I have received from each card:

The message of the first card is all about getting your house in order. You’re being asked to identify your most important projects and priorities. To simplify. To get rid of the clutter of unnecessary projects, tasks, equipment, relationships, obligations, stuff. Pare things back. Delegate. Free up some time. You’re also being reminded that slow and steady wins the race –  keep moving forward toward your goals, even if your progress seems agonisingly slowRemember and take heart from the fable about the tortoise and the hare…

The beginning of April is a great time for reviewing our goals for the year, for reprioritising, and for dedicating ourselves to a simplified focus.

If your goals are really big, and time critical, it’s fine to live ‘out of balance’ for a while. Pick one thing, and make that your absolute focus. April is a month where you can accomplish an enormous amount if you’re prepared to let go of housework or other things that can be let slide for now.

For some of us, April is about going ‘mobile’. All kinds of trips are warranted. Trips to the library. Picnics, festivals, cafes, beaches, holidays. Not all goals need to be work oriented. Some people will find that April is best spent in contemplation, while others will need time out to recharge and unwind so that they come back to the race refreshed and ready to go.

Even if you’re bunkered down working on that big project, get yourself out and about every so often. Just to clear your mind. Just to give yourself a refreshing break.

April is also reminding us that this year is all about repositioning ourselves, and moving ourselves closer to our dreams. If we’ve gotten off track now is the time for a course correction. No judgement, no self-criticism. Just gentle realignment to our soul’s calling. This is a month for taking care of our physical bodies, and nourishing them with wholesome foods, gentle movement and moments of quiet contemplation and connection, even as we live with imbalance.

The second card I’ve chosen is all about your heart! The High Lady of Love and Compassion reminds you to live from your heart – and to choose life paths, hobbies, relationships and directions because they align with your innermost yearnings.

You are encouraged to choose what makes you happy without justification or explanation to others. This is your life, and only you get to live it, so live it with kindness and compassion for yourself first. From that place of emotional contentment you will easily be able to support and encourage others. If you can’t put your own needs front and centre, you will eventually struggle with resentment and exhaustion even if you love serving others and supporting your loved ones, students or clients.

Your heart has its own wisdom, so this month tune in to that wisdom and let your heart lead you, rather than your head. Trust your intuition. Trust those flashes of insight and understanding. Be brave enough to truly listen to what your heart is telling you, and value that above external guidance, advice or judgement.

Work hard or rest hard this month – whatever is most needed. But remember to have time out, to have fun, and to recharge your spirit and body. Even if the housework never gets done! There will be time for that next month. 🙂

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  4. “Embrace April, and its possibilities ……………” Thank you for your insights today Nicole. April always feels solid to me, as though the year has finally become anchored in its own identity and will support whatever dreams and aspirations we ask of the ensuing 8-months. 🙂 xx
