Taking Time To Tune In

2016-12-18-11-08-06-1

“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”
~ Gautama Buddha

I’m late to blogging this morning.

Why?

As I do every morning, when I woke up I tuned in to myself – to see how I felt, to feel what I needed.

And what I needed was more sleep. So, ignoring my brain, which was telling me ‘hurry up, get up, meditate, blog, write…’ I listened to my body, and I rolled over and went back to sleep.

This year my Power Word is HEAL. So, this practice of being aware of my body has become even more important. I can’t just blunder through the day ignoring how I truly feel, or what I might need in order to bring myself back to balance.

So, I tune in to myself regularly – at least three or four times a day starting with when I first wake. I take a few calming breaths, and bring my mindfulness to myself. How am I feeling? What’s happening for me? Is there anything I need? Is there anything I need to know?

This self-mindfulness has been such a useful tool for me over the years, as I work to get to truly know, understand and care for myself. It promotes intuition and self-love. It helps you to truly know yourself.

How about you? Do you take time to tune in to yourself? Do you take time to give your body and your soul what they need?

Maybe it’s time.

Sending oodles of love your way,

Nicole <3 xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. What an amazing way to start the day. So I hope you don’t mind I’m going to start my day like this as you do, please consider this the highest form of flattery. Me doing your morning ritual and checking what my body needs throughout the day, as I too am on a mission to HEAL my body from its many aches and pains due to Rheumatiod Arthritis. Thank you Nicole for a great way to assist myself in this process. Wishing you healing, abundance, and happiness always.

P.S. Happy Anniversary to you both.

  2. This is such a new practice to me and is becoming so very important. The process of getting to know this mindfulness has been so beautiful; not without challenge, but beautiful. I love this post. Sending you love <3

  3. Thank you for reminding me to be mindful of myself. In the great rush to meet deadlines and madly scramble to places… I will remember to check in. Thank you, Miss Nicole. Now… I need to figure out my power word… I love yours! Sending you heaps of love and hugs from Sydney xoxoxoo

  4. I do, but not first thing in the morning. For me (on a workday at least) we get up at about six as we need to get out to the horses before getting ready for work. Most mornings my ‘me’ time, which is when I take stock, is after the horses are cared for and turned out, and partner has left for work. I sit down with a cup of coffee and breakfast of some sort, read some blog posts that have been posted overnight, and take stock. Not like you have tho, I think I will start doing this.
