How To Escape The Virtue Trap – Monday Oracle 26 June 2017

“So full of artless jealousy is guilt,
It spills itself in fearing to be spilt.”

~ William Shakespeare

Hello, Lovelies!

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen this Monday, and my take on the energetic outlook for the week ahead. I use any oracle or tarot cards shown as a prompt for channelled messages and my own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book. ‘Guilt’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for June, you’ll remember that June is a gentle month of revitalisation, redirection and emotional and physical nourishment.

Now, lets look at the gifts Guilt brings.

This powerful card asks us to dig deep this week in addressing our patterns of addiction and avoidance.

Sometimes we create a life of ‘virtue’ where we knock ourselves out to make our homes, our jobs, our bodies, our relationships ‘perfect’. We place more importance on how others may judge us than on our own satisfaction with the life we have created. We get stuck on that treadmill of perfection, while simultaneously our self-esteem and ‘sense of self’ evaporate. We lose ourselves.

Often without meaning to we also craft lives that are about serving others at our own expense. It starts out innocently enough where we give happily because we love the person or want them to think well of us.

We cook dinner every night. And clean up.

We do the extra chores. We take the extra job. We go the extra mile at home or at work.

Problem is, after a while, that gift usually becomes a task that is taken for granted by whomever we are serving. And why wouldn’t they, when we started out being such willing givers? They expect that we continue to be happy to offer whatever we have previously given.

We become resentful – trapped in a pattern of our own making and unsure how to get out. This can then lead to the kind of avoidance and addiction patterns that help us to cope with a situation that no longer works for us. We have an extra coffee or treat to get us through the day. We have an extra glass of wine at night. We pop a pill, or overeat, or use other unhelpful numbing mechanisms to mask our boredom, exhaustion, lack of fulfillment or outright anger.

This week Guilt encourages us to live mindfully, and to honour ourselves and what is healthy and satisfying for us.

It’s a great week for getting help for any kind of addiction or self-sabotaging behaviours. It’s a week for setting clear boundaries and asking others to do their fair share.

It’s a week for us to let go of what doesn’t work for us – be that behaviours, mindsets, jobs, relationships or social situations.

It’s not about putting yourself above others. You simply need to make yourself and your needs equal. You may be surprised to find that other people will accept your choice to step back from an over-giving situation.

Be brave this week. Make those changes. Have those conversations. Stand up for yourself. Get the help you need. It will be worth it!

Supportive crystals this week?

Blue Quartz helps us to trust and believe in ourselves and our dreams, and to connect to what we truly feel and think. Green Chrysoprase opens our heart and helps us to find the courage to live the life that calls us. Black Tourmaline is great for helping us to see where we need to set boundaries.  Rose Quartz provides nurture and a deep sense of love and connection – great if you feel socially or emotionally isolated.

Helpful essential oils?

Young Living’s Awaken essential oil blend, or a combination (or singly!) of any of Geranium, Cedarwood, Lavender and Bergamot. Awaken essential oil blend smells sweet and woody and can be worn as a perfume (Place on wrists, over heart and on back of neck) or used in a diffuser. A few drops in the bath are heavenly too. It’s a great oil to get you out of your head and into your heartspace. It promotes spiritual connection and intuition and is deeply calming. I love this oil, and it’s my oil of choice in my diffuser this week. You can find all the oils here.

Holding you, as always, in my thoughts, prayers and meditations, and intending for a you a life of abundance and joy, where you are no longer limited by your doubts.

All my love,

Nicole ❤ xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  3. You were right about this month. Have never had to sleep as much as the last couple of weeks. Totally exhausted and falling asleep at the drop of a hat. Please let next month be more energetic. I’m getting nothing done here. 🙁 Hope you are getting better.

    1. Me too! But it’s my last week of complete bed rest and quiet and it has actually done me a power of good to slow down. No, lets rephrase that. It has done me a power of good to STOP! Who would have thought? 🙂 Big love and hugs to you, and yes, July has much more available energy for us. Hooray xx
