It’s Okay To Be Yourself!

If you end up with a boring miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest, or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.

Frank Zappa

Hello, Lovelies.

We’re all sensitive souls here in my community. I know, you’re intuitive. I know you think differently to many of the people around you, and I also know you have often felt like a misfit. Today, I want to celebrate the things that make you uniquely YOU, and I want you to embrace those unique parts of you.

But…

I know this might be hard to do.

I know it, because I’m just like you.

As sensitive and empathic souls we’re really dialled in to what other people think and feel. So when someone we love and/or respect tells us that we laugh too loud, or that red doesn’t suit us, or that we should do something about our crooked teeth, or our wobbly tummy, we often take that advice to heart – and either seek to change ourselves, or to become ‘less offensive’ to the people around us. We do it to please them, or to manage the energies around us, to keep the peace, to be respectful, or to smooth out potential conflict.

Or, we do it because we have lost our way, lost our confidence, lost our self-trust, lost our sovereignty. So we let other people’s opinion become more important than our own.

All that does, my darlings, is dim our light. It makes us awkward. It gives us something to worry about.

People have happily succeeded in life, love and business with the exact same ‘problems’ you have. They just didn’t fret about them. Those ‘problems’ were part of their identity, or perhaps not even something they thought about at all.

So, in this current energy of thinking about what we want to change, what we want to end, and what we want to embrace, I am asking you to ask yourself if the ‘problem’ really matters to you, or is it simply something that someone else has a problem with?

If it IS something you want to change, great, go do it!

But if it’s a low priority, if it’s something you can live with, if it’s something you actually LIKE about yourself (even if someone else doesn’t) then just do YOU. Be YOU. Embrace YOU.

Your life is your art.

Don’t be afraid to be original.

Don’t be afraid to be yourself.

All my love, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. Beautiful Nicole! Thank you for your beautiful thoughts, beautiful words, and for beautiful you, who is always spot on with exactly what is in my heart and soul! ❤️

  2. I wondered where this came from and see from your reply to Satisha *facepalm*. In saying that, seems to be you were peeking in my dreamspace as woke with something similar (about physical appearance and the whole ‘being loud”/be quiet shoved down my throat until even recently by those nearest ….dammit, just wrote throat…….), which, when I *do* be quiet (as you know my natural state) everyone carries on with what’s wrong *facepalm*. Love and big hugs to you <3 <3 <3

  3. This sounds exactly like me but I keep thinking maybe at this late stage in my life should I keep persevering to be myself and to be the person I want or would it be easier to just go along with ‘the crowd’?

    1. Darling, it’s never too late, and I already love you just the way you are. Be you! No apologies! Big hugs xx

  4. Perfect on this dark moon day, to sit, do nothing and let it all go, well let go that which is not empowering me or bringing peace to my life..but hey, do nothing…plenty of time for that when your dead! I also just so LOVE this pic of you, whenever you post it, it reminds me just how bloomin’ gorgeous you are on the outside too…XOXO

    1. Thanks, lovely Satisha. It’s wild and it’s honest and I’ve had some negative feedback over this image for being too wild and grey and witchy but I DON’T CARE!!!! Love you xx
