Frosty The Calf Teaches Us About Life

And suddenly you know: It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.

Meister Eckhart

There’s a new little calf at our farm.

She came into the world so quietly. She just slipped in without a sound.

Ben named her Frosty, because once her coat dried and fluffed out it was bleached on the very tops like a fine coating of frost.

Frosty is gentle and friendly, and totters around on her unsteady new legs saying hello to everyone. Cows, dogs, people, butterflies, lizards – all of them feel her soft nose as she bumps right up to them to say hi.

The first day I met her I sat in the grass so she would not be afraid of me. Her muzzle, pressed up against my arm, felt like velvet. Her breath was sweet with milk. I delighted as Frosty danced when she saw her shadow for the first time, when a dandelion swung back and hit her in the face when she tapped it with her nose and she kicked up her heels in surprise.

Frosty showed me the true beauty of wonder – that trusting space where you are curious about everything and unafraid. When you live from wonder everything is magical, everything is a miracle.

When I looked at the world with those same eyes of love I saw it was true. Everything IS a miracle. We just stop looking at the world that way.

Today, if you get a chance, close your eyes and breathe into your heart. Fill it with love and gratitude, and then open your eyes again. See how the world is more luminous? See the wonder around you. Trust in the magic and flow that connects everything.

All my love, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.
