Almost Home

“Home wasn’t a set house, or a single town on a map. It was wherever the people who loved you were, whenever you were together. Not a place, but a moment, and then another, building on each other like bricks to create a solid shelter that you take with you for your entire life, wherever you may go.”

Sarah Dessen

So, today my journey home begins.

A plane, and then an airport hotel, and then another plane, a strange ‘lost’ day as I fly into the future, and then I will be home.

My suitcase is full of rocks. And books.

My carry-on is full of rocks. And books.

And my heart is so full.

What an adventure it has been.

But I am homesick and ready to be with my beloved, our dogs, and our funny little farm.

I am ready for my favourite teacup, and toast with avocado, and herbs from the garden with my breakfast egg.

I am longing for the comfort of the familiar, so that I have space to unpack everything that has been so very remarkable and strange.

Do you ever feel like that, at the end of a long trip away?

I have so much to share with you, dear friends, once I find my feet again.

All my love, from amid overstuffed suitcases, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

    1. Oh, I’m not sure yet (still bravely adding all the things I had thought to hold back…) but I promise I’ll keep you posted, and thank you so much for your support xx

  1. Safe travels
I have just started mine. I love the sentiment by Sarah Dessen. I take my home with me wherever I settle, but I admit, I do have a couple of very special p l aces. They may not be”home” to me now, but will forever be home in my heart
