“Home wasn’t a set house, or a single town on a map. It was wherever the people who loved you were, whenever you were together. Not a place, but a moment, and then another, building on each other like bricks to create a solid shelter that you take with you for your entire life, wherever you may go.”
Sarah Dessen
So, today my journey home begins.
A plane, and then an airport hotel, and then another plane, a strange ‘lost’ day as I fly into the future, and then I will be home.
My suitcase is full of rocks. And books.
My carry-on is full of rocks. And books.
And my heart is so full.
What an adventure it has been.
But I am homesick and ready to be with my beloved, our dogs, and our funny little farm.
I am ready for my favourite teacup, and toast with avocado, and herbs from the garden with my breakfast egg.
I am longing for the comfort of the familiar, so that I have space to unpack everything that has been so very remarkable and strange.
Do you ever feel like that, at the end of a long trip away?
I have so much to share with you, dear friends, once I find my feet again.
All my love, from amid overstuffed suitcases, Nicole xx
Have a safe trip home, Nicole and I cant’t wait to read you. Do you already have a launch day for your book?
Oh, I’m not sure yet (still bravely adding all the things I had thought to hold back…) but I promise I’ll keep you posted, and thank you so much for your support xx
Safe travels
Home is the best place to be
Nicole,as Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz” said,There’s no place like home.”
Safe travels
I have just started mine. I love the sentiment by Sarah Dessen. I take my home with me wherever I settle, but I admit, I do have a couple of very special p l aces. They may not be”home” to me now, but will forever be home in my heart
Travel lightly and swiftly, much love Paul xx
