Self-Care Looks Like This Right Now

“Self-care is never a selfish act – it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer others. Anytime we can listen to true self and give the care it requires, we do it not only for ourselves, but for the many others whose lives we touch.”

Parker Palmer

Hey, Lovelies.

Right now I’m needing a little extra top-up of the self-care tank.

My clients and community live all over the world. Many of them have needed me to be there for them late in my nights, early in my mornings, or in the breaks I have had between scheduled clients.

It’s a time where I am happy to be there. But to do that I also need to be extra-aware of my own energy levels and health needs.

So my self-care (last night and this morning) looks like this:

Easy home-cooked pasta dinner at 5pm because so tired.

Meditation at 6pm because I need that connection to God.

Sleep by seven because I am exhausted and I need to be truly present for everyone. Only sleep can restore me at that level. Meditation is no longer enough.

Morning meditation followed by a cuppa and a book and some quiet moments to myself before my day starts again.

If necessary in the days ahead it will be rinse and repeat, with lots of extra deep rest, hugs, vegetables, fresh juices and easy healthy meals thrown into the mix.

Plus little bits of sneaky writing and journal work grabbed whenever I can. Because I am not living if I am not writing.

How are YOU taking care of yourself right now?
Big hugs and gentle encouragement for you to rest, recharge and attend to your own needs at least as much as you are looking after others, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. Yesterday I walked over to my neighbor and we talked 1,5 hours (outside, with 2 meters distance). We humans need social interaction and for me the internet is not an adequate substitute for that.

  2. First, thank you for my reading yesterday , Nicole. I was also strongly feeling the need for some self- care.
I am grateful to have found, and followed you for many years now. Your words have given me comfort..
Thank you for your own self-care, and for being the light for so many.
