Read This If You Feel Like You Don’t Have A Dream For Your Life

“If you feel lost, disappointed, hesitant, or weak, return to yourself, to who you are, here and now and when you get there, you will discover yourself, like a lotus flower in full bloom, even in a muddy pond, beautiful and strong.”

Masaru Emoto

Hey, Lovelies!

In our members Book Club right now we are working through Glennon Doyle’s Untamed. It’s a memoir about losing yourself as you do what you can to fit in, please people and live a life defined by others so that you might be loved and accepted.

One of Glennon’s chapters starts with a powerful sentence, ‘I was never completely gone.’ I wanted to share that with you today, if you find yourself in a place where you don’t know what you want, don’t know what will make you happy, where you don’t have a dream and you don’t feel passionate about ANYTHING.

Feel this truth as a whisper in your heart. I am still here. I was never completely gone.

There is a wise part of you that has always known who you are, why you are here, what lights you up, and what your next step might be.

How do you connect into that?

Get quiet.

As you get quiet, expect that all kinds of thoughts and trash talk will come up. It’s just like learning to meditate. You have to let those thoughts float by, without catching on to any of them. Eventually, they will clear.

What’s on the other side of all that noise?

Knowing.

Knowing usually doesn’t look like a complete map with a clear destination – especially if you’ve been stuck or shut down for a long time. Instead it will be a crumb of an idea. Maybe you feel like tidying the house, or cooking dinner, or digging out your paints. Great. Start there. Any movement that comes in response to an inner direction will create more movement and direction. That’s how this process works. Then, get quiet again. Wait. The knowing will show up and give you the next step.

Maybe it won’t be a crumb – maybe it will be a full technicolour movie, a wild imagining that seems unattainable because it is so far from where you are right now. These are the kinds of ideas that are often dismissed as ‘unrealistic’. But humour your wise self. Flesh out that glorious wild imagining. Fall in love with it. Expect that you will find ways to start living that life, or working towards it, right now, where you are, and with what is already to hand. Who knows where it will lead you? If nothing else, it will get you unstuck and bring colour back into your life again.

There is always a dream, or a direction for your life. You just need to get quiet enough to hear the wise voice inside you, and to trust it. Know that if you’ve been in a deep dark hole for a long time the first things you might receive will be first aid for your soul, or your physical self. The inspiration will come later, as you move back into flow.

Getting quiet and going within, and letting the noise clear, that’s how you find yourself again. Journal it. Paint it. Collage it. Trust it.

It’s never too late to start again, to reinvent yourself, to find a new dream or to make that dream a reality.

I have faith in you, and I’m sending you all my love, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. I believe Dreams are just that Dreams. They go poof when you wake up or dreams are meant to be broken. As many of mine have been for years. I fell for the dream big. Dream it will happen. It should be GOALS. Make GOALS and tiny step by step to your Goal and then it will happen. If only someone had taught me about Goals and not Dreams.
