It was nearly 5pm on Friday afternoon…

May today be the Fridayest Friday that ever Fridayed.

Hello, Lovelies!

It was late on Friday afternoon. I was sitting in my new office in our treehouse, surrounded by work, boxes that needed unpacking, and a massive to-do list that has been neglected this week while I have supported clients through emergencies and held their hands through life’s tough bits.

We still haven’t got our TV connected, or set up our stereo, but I was missing music, and I have so much work to get done, so I tuned in to the local FM radio station on my laptop and had it playing softly in the background while I hammered through a pile of emails and uploads.

Suddenly Australia’s unofficial national anthem, Daryl Braithwaite’s song The Horses came on.

The Horses!

Mix Fm Plays it EVERY FRIDAY just after 5pm to mark the end of the week and the beginning of the weekend.

And I realised… IT WAS FRIDAY. Like, I REALLY got it.

Friday.

The start of the weekend!

Friday hasn’t been a big deal in our house for years. I don’t work a 9 to 5 job. I’ve been unwell for decades. Until recently I’ve lived on a farm. Every day has felt the same, pretty much. But here in our treehouse things are different. I feel more connected back into the flow of life.

So, when The Horses came on the radio, something in me paid attention. A little voice inside me said, ‘Enough, Nicole. It’s Friday!’

Not only was it Friday…

I live in a house that has a bar, and a wine cellar.

Really.

A bar.

Hilarious. You know, we took one look before we moved in and decided it would go. But now we’re living here, and it feels like a good plan to have a bar. Especially on a Friday afternoon.

So, I closed down my laptop, made a snack platter, cranked up our portable speaker and Ben’s playlist, and I made us knock-off drinks. In the bar we weren’t keeping.

Fri-yay!

So good.

Me, my boy, and a proper Friday end-of week celebration.

This living thing really is as brilliant as it was cracked up to be.

I’m so glad I didn’t croak it yet.

And yes, those drinks were great. So was the cheese platter. A truly legitimate form of Friday night dinner.
Happy weekend, everyone!
Love, music, tasty snacks and relaxing vibes, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.
