Beaming Out Love In The Dark

Ring the bells that still can ring

Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack in everything

That’s how the light gets in.

Leonard Cohen

Hey, Lovelies.

My heart is full and heavy right now.

A dear friend is coming to the end of her life. Her family are precious to me too. I am far from them right now, and unable to provide comfort and care.

Another dear friend is faced with the end of life of one of her animal companions – a dog who has been so much to her, and who has been with her through the best and worst of times. My friend will be shattered by this loss. She is in lockdown, and far from other family and friends. I cannot be there for her in person, although I wish I could.

But I am with them still.

I feel their emotions. I feel their individual journeys. I feel it all. It’s magnificent and devastating.

This is what love does. It cleaves us open, so that we are filled with love and also with heartbreak at the same time.

I cannot be with these dear people, but I can do something.

Last night, this morning, tonight, and tomorrow and every day, for as long as I am needed, I will sit in meditation.

I will perform Tonglen for them – the Tibetan Buddhist practice of giving and receiving, that allows us to ease the burdens of another, and to transmute some of their suffering.

It’s a beautiful practice. One of my favourite ways to support others. (If you’d like to learn more about it I wrote a post here.)

I’m also including you in my meditation. May you know love. May you know peace. Know that I am here for you, and that I care deeply for you.

All my love, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.
