The Curious Box

Usually if you pray from the heart, you get an answer—the phone rings or the mail comes, and light gets in through the cracks, so you can see the next right thing to do. That’s all you need.

Hey, Lovelies.

I received a curious package this week.

It was delivered to my home some time during the day, and Ben signed for it and brought it inside, and then promptly forgot to tell me about it.

The package came on one of those crappy days – you know the ones, where everything breaks, and every phone call is bad news, and every email needs you to address a problem, and all you can do is hold on and keep breathing and wait for the day to be over.

So, it was the end of the crappy day, and as I am sitting in my favourite armchair looking out over the night sky, ready to finally exhale, my husband goes, ‘Oh yeah, this box thing came for you today.’

Yes, a box thing.

A largish box, actually. Addressed to me but with no other defining markings and no return address.

I opened it, and inside was another box. A beautiful blue box with gold designs on it.

Inside that box was a tin of tea, a measure and an infuser.

A dear friend who is as immunocompromised as me had sent me a tin of her favourite blend of tea, so I could drink it and we could pretend to be drinking it together, seeing as we have been unable to catch up in person.

The timing could not have been better. I brewed myself a mug, sat down and nurtured myself with a ‘Japanese Lime’ green tea.

I’m going to pack her a little care parcel of one of my favourite teas and return the favour. It makes me happy to think of this, each of us with a tin of the other’s favourite blend so we can drink it and be connected through the comfort of a cuppa.

Small gestures can mean so much!

Hugs, love and a fragrant brew, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. Love, Love, Love. A dear friend in Japan and I in the United States did something similar and shared our tea time via pictures on Facebook.
I am intrigued by the Japanese Lime green tea.
    Healthy, Happy Day to you.

  2. What a really lovely gesture. Perfectly timed. You’ll enjoy that tea and the cup every single time you use it. That’s keeping someone lovingly connected in a very real way. xxx
