Hey, Lovelies.
I experienced two unexpected gifts yesterday.
The first one was from nature. I started work very early, and ended late in the day, but in the middle I had a gap of a couple of hours. Ben convinced me to take a break away from my desk and we went down to the beach for a walk, and then an impromptu fish and chips picnic in the park.
The ocean was calm, it was dazzlingly sunny, and we had the place to ourselves. To get out of the house after so many months of rain and to experience that sunshine and salt water was amazingly good. I was back at my desk ninety minutes later, refreshed and happy.
As afternoon lengthened into the beginnings of a wintery evening, there was a knock at my door.
A dear friend had sent Ben and I the most thoughtful hamper of cheese, crackers, wine and chocolate – with a heartfelt message of love and support.
It made me cry, and I felt so grateful and thankful for this act of kindness.
In the middle of some tough days as we support others in crisis, yesterday shone bright.
