Laughing, and eating sugar!

If you don’t laugh you’ll cry.

~ everyone’s Nana, Pop or wise mentor at some stage

Hey, Lovelies.

I had one of those work days yesterday. I started really early. I finished really late, and we managed to jam a number of emergencies into the small gaps in my day – because so many people are in melt-down, burn-out or trauma just now.

It got so crazy that in the late afternoon, when I was being updated on my ever-changing schedule, I said to my sister (who is also my personal assistant), “Okay, I’d better go eat some sugar!”

We couldn’t stop laughing, because it really was one of those days where if you don’t laugh, you cry.

Sugar is not one of the usual things on my diet, but sometimes that boost of energy is needed, and yesterday it was the only thing that got me through. Me stating that I needed sugar was indeed an admission of just how big a day it had become!

I went and made myself a sweet hot tea, grabbed electrolytes and extra snacks, then organised take-out for dinner because I knew I would be wiped and only capable of making toast by day’s end.

It’s okay.

We all get days like that and when we do, we just have to do what we need to do to keep showing up and to get through. I was grateful to be able to be there for people who needed me.

I was grateful that sugar got me through!

Sending you encouragement and the means to get through too,

Hugs, love and lollipops, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. I had a I need sugar day too 🌝 but I had a great day. But it did end with a teaspoon of Nutella because I didn’t have any chocolate 🍫
