Ocean Immersion

“I have been feeling very clearheaded lately and what I want to write about today is the sea. It contains so many colors. Silver at dawn, green at noon, dark blue in the evening. Sometimes it looks almost red. Or it will turn the color of old coins. Right now the shadows of clouds are dragging across it, and patches of sunlight are touching down everywhere. White strings of gulls drag over it like beads.

It is my favorite thing, I think, that I have ever seen. Sometimes I catch myself staring at it and forget my duties. It seems big enough to contain everything anyone could ever feel.”
~ Anthony Doerr

Hey, Lovelies.

Right now I have this insatiable need to immerse myself in the ocean.

Each day at dawn I find myself at the beach.

I walk out into the water until I am up to my neck.

I stay there until something shifts in me and I feel ‘done’.

Then I wrap myself in a warm towel, come home, drink coffee and write before my work day begins.

This simple act has brought me more comfort than anything I have done in the longest time.

Whatever your own heart is calling you to do, I encourage you to try it.

There is a wisdom inside you that knows what you need.

Love, salt-kissed skin, and sandy feet, Nicole xx
