Owning Our HeART Space

…and then, I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?
~ Vincent Willem van Gogh

Hey, Lovelies.

Yesterday, art happened.

Ever since we moved to the treehouse, our walls have been mostly bare. We own art, but it was not on the walls. We wanted to live here for a while before we decided what we wanted to keep or release. Ben and I wanted to get a feel for the space we now call home.

Finally, we were ready. We engaged professional picture hangers, recommended by a local gallery. In preparation for their arrival Ben and I went through every single painting and print, every etching and sketch, wiping and cleaning and choosing – stay or go?

When the picture-hanging team turned up we had all of our artworks propped against the bare walls and furniture. We wanted their fresh eyes on our many old friends. Pretend it’s a gallery, we said. Group them together and then put them where you think they’ll look best. We had only minimal input as they asked for our feedback. They suggested things we would have never thought to do. Then we left them to it.

After they had gone, and our art was on the walls, the change was profound.

We moved quietly from room to room, a new appreciation for the works we have collected over the years.

The treehouse was suddenly, irrefutably, OUR home.

And I have to tell you, it feels goooooood.

Love, and an eclectic collection of artifacts, Nicole xx
