I think the most important quality in a birdwatcher is a willingness to stand quietly and see what comes. Our everyday lives obscure a truth about existence – that at the heart of everything there lies a stillness and a light.

Hey, Lovelies.
One of the best things about living in the treehouse is that my bedroom is all wide windows that look out over the forest. I’ve been spending a lot of time in bed, or in a chair looking out over the trees, and so I have begun to know my other neighbours rather well.
Of course, I am talking about the birds.
They have their favourite branches, their favourite routines, and I can now tell the residents from the visitors.
I spend endless hours watching them, and it gives me untold pleasure.
The trees are another wonderful group of companions, as I watch them change with the light, the weather, the seasons.
So much wonder, right in my backyard.
