Finances and Money Opportunities

Having enough money, creating financial flow, and enjoying a position of financial security – these are the things that help us to live our best life. It is impossible to be our best self or to share our talents and gifts in the way our soul had intended if our life is a constant struggle, and if security eludes us.

Here’s what you need to do:

Take your crystal, and complete this short guided meditation.

Hold your stone in your cupped hands, close your eyes, and slow your breathing. Bring white light into your body until you feel peaceful and calm. Then bring white light into the crystal too. Allow yourself to connect to the stone. You may feel it tingle, or visualise a colour in your mind’s eye. When you are ready, open your eyes. Keep your stone near you, and hold it when you write.

Now shuffle your cards, while silently asking the question to yourself ‘What do I most need to know about my finances and money opportunities?’

When you have shuffled the cards and they feel ‘done’, select three cards using the method that feels right for you.

Place the cards face down in front of you.

Clear your mind by closing your eyes and taking one deep breath in and then out. Open your eyes again. Turn over the first card and look at the picture.

The first card is your current situation.

What stands out for you today? Is it an image or a colour? Is it a number or a word? What are your first impressions? What thoughts come into your mind?

Write these down in your journal.

Now let’s go a little deeper. What feelings or words does this card evoke in your mind when you think about the card and its images in relation to the question ‘What do I most need to know about my finances and money opportunities?’ Write some stream-of-consciousness thoughts down. Don’t censor or judge them. Trust the process. Draw a second card for clarification if you need to.

Now turn over the second card. The second card is your area of action – the place where you need to make conscious choices or changes. It shows you either problems to be overcome or opportunities to be explored. Repeat your examination of the second card and journal any insights.

Turn over the third card. This card shows you your potential outcomes, based on the action you take arising from the first and second card. OR it can show you what will happen if no action is taken. You’ll know what you are being shown based on what information and emotions come up for you. Journal your results.

Finally, read back over what you have written.

*Note – this simple three card spread technique can be very useful for looking at situations in some depth.

Day 7 – Gratitude Challenge

“When you are grateful fear disappears and abundance appears.” ~ Anthony Robbins

While money can’t buy you happiness, a lack of money in your life can create great stress and upset, and is the cause of much worry and fear for many.

Whenever we concentrate on lack, we get more of that.  The clearer the thought and the stronger the emotion, the more quickly the Universe fills our order. So if we think or shout “Oh no – not another bill!” and we attach a strong emotion of anger or frustration or fear to that thought, we are only magnetising ourselves to more of the same…

In order to create financial flow we need to feel abundant. We have to develop positive feelings and thoughts about money.

How can you tell if you are in resistance to money?

Image from militarymoneymight.com

If there is mild resistance, or a belief that you don’t deserve more (we’ll be dealing with this in a later blog!) you might find that there’s enough money, but never any over, and that you can live day to day but never quite get ahead.

If you are deeper in resistance you will resent or feel envious of people who have more money than you.  You resent the bills, and are frustrated by your inability or constant effort to pay them. You feel uncomfortable thinking or talking about money. Your biggest awareness of money is that there isn’t enough, or as much as you would like. You pay bills and other expenses grudgingly, even if it’s for things you want. You don’t pay attention to your cash account and credit card balances, mail from the banks and bills go unopened, or get left around the house.  You worry about money.

And those thoughts and emotions are the surest way to make you feel impoverished.

The best way to start feeling wealthy is by counting our many Blessings.

My Daily Gratitude Practice:

If you need a detailed reminder of the process, you can review it here in Day 1 of the Gratitude Challenge.

  1. List five Blessings in your journal, explaining why you are grateful for each one.
  2. Count your Blessings off on your fingers, summoning positive emotion and saying Thank You from your heart for each one.
  3. This morning, take your money from underneath your Gratitude Rock and affirm “I am grateful for financial abundance.  My money is multiplying and blessing me and others daily.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
  4. Place your Gratitude Money in your wallet, so that you won’t spend it, but that you know it is there. (I put a heart sticker on mine, folded it up, and poked it in with my drivers licence!) Affirm “This Gratitude Money is magnetic to good. It multiplies and brings money to me in so many wonderful ways.  Thank you!” Spend a moment and visualise this money as a little magnet, pulling other money to it.  Imagine tiny showers of golden light sprinkling out from this Gratitude Money, blessing all the other money and cards in your wallet. Let yourself feel wealthy and grateful.
  5. Tonight before you go to sleep hold your Gratitude Rock and affirm I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life. Visualise one thing you have been grateful for today. Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe, then imagine a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.
  6. Still holding your Gratitude Rock, bless your fellow travellers on this Gratitude Journey by sending them golden light, and saying Thank you.  I Bless You.  I intend for you Love, Miracles and Abundance. Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Then snuggle back down into bed and drift off to sleep, cocooned in this wonderful energy of love and gratitude.

If you only follow these steps today, that is enough, but if you’d like a further gratitude challenge about creating financial flow, read on…

Thank You for the Money!

Remember, right at the beginning of our 30 Day Gratitude Challenge we said that Gratitude is a powerful tool in any Lightworker’s kit. When we say thank you to the Universe, in effect we are placing an order where we are saying more please of all this good stuff, or other things equally as wonderful, or even better!

This is equally true whether we are thankful for a hug, a friend, a good meal, or money in our wallet.

Today, at every opportunity, give thanks for the money in your life.  This actually can be a lot of fun as you realise just how much money has already flowed into your existence.

The money may have come as a gift, or a loan.  It may have been earned by you or someone in your family, you could have sold something or won something, received a discount or been given a bonus.

If you are given a second-hand sofa, that’s money! The clothes you’re wearing were purchased using money. The mug you drink your morning coffee out of was also part of the money flow.  See what I mean?

Today, hold that awareness of how much money is already in your life.

As you lie in your bed think or say “Thank you for the money that has provided this home for me.”

When you get into your car, think or say “Thank you for the money that provided me with this car.”

When you pay for your breakfast, or the bus ticket, or the newspaper or the groceries, say “Thank you for the money that flows to and through me.”

There is so much evidence of the money that has already shown up in your life.

If you write a cheque or pay a bill, draw a little heart on the bill or the cheque stub and write “Thank you for the money that pays this bill.”

As you hold cash in your hand to pay for something, think or say “Thank you for the gift of money in my life.”

Give some money away with a Blessing for the Abundance in your life. Charitable acts come from an abundant heart. It might be a coin to a busker, or a coin in a donation tin, or the purchase of a packet of Girl Guide biscuits, or a ticket in the local charity raffle. Feel how abundant you are, that you have wealth to share. Say “I am Blessed with Abundance. Thank You for the Money I can flow to others.” Really feel that swell of gratitude in your heart.

I was sent this quote by the lovely Silvana Nagyl.  It’s from the Mediation Society of Australia, on the topic of gratitude. It’s a great thought to hold for today…

“I have no one to criticise and no thing, not even me.

For criticism blocks the flow of love,

it is gratitude that pours through me like a flood.”

Day 6 – Gratitude Challenge

If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness.  It will change your life mightily.  ~Gerald Good

You are provided for. And you have been since you got here.

When we were children we took so much for granted – a bed to sleep in and food on the table, electricity and water.  We had clothes, and books, and education. We had company, and toys and access to so many things…

Money is neither a positive or negative force – it’s neutral.  It is our thoughts and behaviours that give the concept of money a charge. And once we have those thoughts, and think them often, or behave in a certain way, the Universe responds by matching our financial outcomes to our thoughts and actions.  That’s how the Law of Attraction works.

Image from chicagotribune.com

Now we are grown. No matter what our current financial situation, by having gratitude for what we do have, and for appreciating money and what it can provide for us, we begin to increase prosperity and abundance in our lives.

It doesn’t matter if all you have is a handful of coins.  That’s a start.  When we begin to feel grateful about the money that has already flowed through our lives, when we can feel thankful for the handful of coins in our wallet, money begins to show up. Anything we are grateful for is multiplied in our lives…

For today’s Gratitude Challenge we’ll start by Counting our Blessings:

If you need a detailed reminder of the process, you can review it here in Day 1 of the Gratitude Challenge.

  1. List five Blessings in your journal, explaining why you are grateful for each one.
  2. Count your Blessings off on your fingers, summoning positive emotion and saying Thank You from your heart for each one.
  3. Tonight before you go to sleep, find a low value note like a one dollar bill, or a fiver.
  4. Now hold your Gratitude Rock and affirm I am richly Blessed.
  6. Place your rock back beside your bed, on top of the money.  See the Gratitude Rock charging up that money with magnetic and positive energy. Say “I am Grateful for Financial Abundance.  Money is magnetised towards me, and it just keeps showing up in my life.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.”  Then snuggle back down into bed and drift off to sleep, while your Gratitude Rock works its magic!

A Gratitude Rock charging up some money. We’ll talk more about this in tomorrow’s blog!

If you like, you can do just these first six steps. That’s more than enough.

But if you’d like to participate in an activity that continues to build the energy of gratitude around financial abundance read on…

The Blessing Game:

As you go through your day, affirm often I am Blessed with Abundance – Thank you!

Affirm this as you put on your clothes and eat your breakfast.  Affirm this as you pay for your morning coffee or a ticket for the bus.  Affirm this every time you realise that money has been spent, or is being spent, to provide the many Blessings in your life.

Every time you pull money from your pocket, or your wallet, give thanks.

And it’s not just your money and your spending that you can show gratitude for.  If you live in a city, and there are pavements and gardens, give thanks for them.  Give thanks for the facilities at your workplace.

Feel gratitude for the people and businesses spending money that support your community and economy. If you pass a building site, be grateful for that industry, if you pass a cafe, give thanks for the patrons who allow that business to exist. Give thanks for the Abundance you see everywhere that supports your current life.

The more we are grateful for what we have, the more we are given. This works for everything, including money. Our gratitude creates positive energy for our own prosperity and that of our economy. Isn’t that wonderful!

Wishing you a day of Abundance Thinking.  Bless ♥ xx

How much do you really need?

Image from babylonsistersshakeit.blogspot.com

I was one of those people who put too much emphasis on work and career and material possessions, and it took its toll on all my relationships, on my physical health, my emotional and mental health.
~ Tony Shalhoub

We don’t ever really need much to be comfortable in life. Yet if you look at the barrage of advertising around us, you’ll be uncertain if that’s true. There are so many products and services competing for our attention, and shopping has become a national pastime.

Much of our stress is created by consumerism, and the debt we often incur to fuel that steady stream of purchases. The media constantly reinforces the idea that ‘stuff’ makes us happy, and that success is having a gigantic house, filled with gadgets, appliances, expensive furniture and toys.

But is that really true?

How much do you really need? And how much of what you already have do you actually use?

Haven’t you ever known happiness with just the barest of possessions?

Image from encorechurch.com.au

A few years ago I joined my husband in Palau, a small island nation in Micronesia. I took one suitcase with me, and I lived out of a hotel room for six months. The room was comfortable, but by no means palatial. There was a tiny bar fridge and an electric jug, a simple bathroom, a bed, television, cupboard, desk and two chairs. The big luxury was air conditioning!

I got used to having one bowl, one plate, one cup. I had a place for my computer, a few books, some simple toiletries, and  a small assortment of clothes. But it wasn’t a hardship. In fact, there was something very liberating about having so few possessions, and an uncluttered schedule.

When I finally came home to Australia, I wandered around my home for months afterwards, wondering how I’d managed to accumulate so much stuff. In fact, I’m still influenced by that period in my life.  Anywhere I can simplify now, I do.

I’m not advocating that you get rid of all your belongings. I’m advocating simplicity. And I’m suggesting that it is better to have one thing that you love, than twenty things to which you are indifferent. It’s better to be happy living an authentic life that gives you gratification, where you’re following a path that makes your heart sing, than to do something purely for the money, and then using that money to buy stuff you hope might make you happy.

Work out what your priorities are. (This post can help you do that.)

Declutter. Not just your house, your life! Unsubscribe, free up some time, let go of some responsibilities or get help to complete things you haven’t done and need to. Getting rid of clutter frees up our creative and emotional energy. (More ideas on that here)

Simplify.  Use the Rule of Three.  If you haven’t used it, worn it or remembered you even own it in the last three years, get rid of it. Some people are more ruthless than that, and use a Rule of Two or even One! Of course you need to exercise some common sense here, but almost everyone I know has accumulated things they know longer want or need. You can give it away, throw it out or sell it to make some spare cash.

Reconnect.  With family, friends, your lover, yourself. On your deathbed it’s never the giant plasma screen tv or the ferrari you’re wanting, it’s a loved one to hold your hand.

The one thing most of us complain we don’t have enough of is time. By simplifying our lives, we can usually reduce stress and free up time to gift back to ourselves. Love, time, freedom, pursuing things important to us, reducing financial pressure – all of these are good for your soul, and they’ll give you a sense of fulfilment that material things never can.

Attracting Inspiration and Opening to Abundance

This image by imagerymajestic

“Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it.” – Buddha

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” – Confucius

I truly believe that for each of us there is an idea, matched perfectly to our talents and gifts, that can help us to shine our Light in the world, and from which we can manifest abundance for ourselves. Today’s blog is really a response to reader questions that have arisen from a previous post:  When the Muse Whispers in My Ear.

Each of us usually has a glimmer of what our heart’s desire is – that thing we want to be, do or have. ( And when we have achieved or satisfied that, there will come another desire, for that is the nature of humanity…)

It can be anything, but let’s work with just one example. Trust that this information will work as easily and effectively for you in manifesting that inspiration that leads to abundance, as for the person for whom I’m creating the example.

My friend Kathy had this to say about the Muse Whispering in your Ear blog post:

ohhhh….I would so like to hear that whispering in my ear….I’m open hearted and waiting for an idea or suggestion that might be matched with my talents, purpose and dreams…….I’m ready and I’m waiting….with a hope-filled heart

I really don’t know how to open to this sense…I tend to put forth effort and try, but sense that right now, that’s not the way to go….and I can’t seem to access “trying” anyway….I’m sensing that a more intuitive path is opening, but don’t have experience with it ….any suggestions or ideas?…

Sound familiar to any of you?

Kathy thought on this some more and then added:

I’m sensing that maybe I’d like to combine teaching, which I love, (I’m retiring from the official job of teaching in June, after 40 years ) with creating pages or something like that..but I don’t know quite what, where, who…etc…but I love teaching and I really really love creating the pages that I share on my blog…and helping people who are having a hard time…helping them out of the struggle, in whatever small ways I can…

So what can Kathy do?  What can YOU do to get into that place of flow, where things begin to come together for you, and a path becomes illuminated for you to follow?

Light Path image by dan

To start with, don’t force it! Come at it from a different angle, rather than from ‘trying’. Find that *glimmer* within.  Perhaps it’s teaching, or healing or helping in some way.  Maybe you are passionate about art or music or writing. It could be food or fabric or french provincial furniture.

How do you recognise it?  It will light you up on the inside, and you’ll feel your resistance melt away as you contemplate and appreciate that thing.

For Kathy, she knows that she loves teaching, writing, creating resources, helping people. That’s a great start. And when we find what we love doing, we can usually find a way to make money from that thing too.

But no big idea yet?  No clarity?

That’s okay.  The *glimmer* gives us something to work with.

Image from ohbytheway.blogspot

Begin by BEing happy. Live with gratitude and appreciation for the things in your life that you enjoy, especially when they relate to that *glimmer*.  For example, if you want to be a writer, open to the joy of the wonderful books you have read and how they made you feel. Explore book stores, not to be overwhelmed by how many people are already in print, but because you LOVE books and stories, and shops full of delicious reading adventures.

Find more of what excites you and be grateful for that. Involve yourself with thoughts and activities that align you with the things you love and can happily spend time doing.

Kathy can start by appreciating and reflecting on what she has loved about teaching. That will also give her clarity about what she doesn’t want (no nine to five for me anymore! – or similar). She can get excited about pages and resources she loves, and the people who create them.

All of this positive energy begins to make you magnetic to more energy just like it!

Kathy can appreciate blogs, and use that to begin clarifying what she likes and wants more of, and what she doesn’t like. Whose blogs are helpful to her? What does she like about them? What is she drawn to?

The more we honour, appreciate and are grateful for things, and the more we deposit positive energy into the Universal Bank Account, the more attractive and magnetic we become to aligned thoughts, ideas and opportunities.

If the Muse hasn’t whispered in your ear yet, it doesn’t mean she won’t! It just means that you’re not charged up enough yet. You are responsible for building that energy and enthusiasm.  Stay open.  Expect ideas to start coming but don’t be anxious about it. Don’t force it, or push yourself into feelings of panic or lack.

Understand that ideas will come from left field, and may not be what you had originally expected. A friend of mine who loves to quilt now teaches quilting classes and is about to open a shop dedicated to quilting and fabrics. She’d planned to make quilts for a living but this new business suits her skills much better and gives her that vital people contact she so enjoys. Another friend who enjoyed computers and programming, and has a natural gift for explaining complicated things in simple ways, has now been inspired to create an IT business where people come to your home to give you tuition in software and hardware, tailored to meet your needs.

I’ve created a simple five-minute guided meditation to help you open up to your own inspiration, flow and abundance.  All you need to do is listen with an open heart, and an open mind, expecting and allowing all good things to come your way.
