“Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.”

~ John Lennon

Have you noticed it?  Maybe it’s you, maybe it’s the people around you, being a bit scratchy, reactive or less than loving? Don’t worry, it’s the last of 2012 going out with a bang.

2012 marked the end of an Age for mankind and our planet. 2013 is the beginning of a whole new energy.  And right now we’re feeling the last tetchy remnants of that old energy sliding away. You might even be grieving for it a little right now. Even when it’s right to move on, we still sometimes mourn what was, or grieve for those lost opportunities.

Sure, some of you will be already in a place of clarity. Some of you will already be in your heart. It might just be everyone else around you bringing you down.

But for some of you, well, your life might look messy.  The shit might be hitting the fan. Or you might be questioning things that a week ago looked solid and good.

It’s okay. It will pass, and when it does you’ll move into a much better space of clarity and flow.

But don’t feel powerless right now. You can help. How? Live from your heart, even as you speak your truth. Make a conscious effort to come from a place of kindness, wisdom and grace. Be the calming balm that soothes the itch, and the still waters that quench the raging fire. That’s what it is to be a Lightworker. You bring light and love to dark places.

I’ve recorded a short meditation for you, to help you deal with these unsettling energies. Even if you’ve been unaffected, the meditation will still be useful, as you anchor positive energy for others as well as yourself.  All you need to do is click on the link below.

Nicole Cody’s Guided Meditation – River of Love

Thank you for all you are doing in the world.  Thank you for living from your heart.  If that’s all you ever contribute to the world, be assured, that is more than enough.

2013 – Guidance for the Year Ahead

Happy New Year and welcome to the energies of 2013!  New Year’s Day is always a special time for me. I like to welcome the day with meditation,  a walk at the beach, and a swim in the ocean (one of the benefits of it being summer in Australia right now). Then over the course of the day I contemplate my year ahead, asking for spiritual guidance, and writing in my journal.

I have one tarot deck that I use only for the first day of the new year.  I have done this for over 20 years, and it is something I look forward to as a touchstone to set the themes of my year so that I might live with greater awareness and understanding.  I don’t use it as a predictive tool – rather I use it for reflection, and to seek guidance about qualities, actions and perspectives that might benefit me over the next twelve months.

This morning I asked for one card for you – to give YOU guidance over the year ahead.  This is my personal interpretation of that card for you.  Take what resonates as truth for you, and discard the rest.

The EMPEROR – Insights for 2013

trump_04_theemperor

In 2012 our focus was on huge change and growth, but that change and growth was within us, and our immediate surrounds and relationships. We weathered many challenges and always the emphasis came back to the personal and internal.

2013 is a foundation year of growth and positive change, where we are reflecting these energies out from ourselves as we inhabit a place of stronger authenticity, awareness and connection. This year, as we sit in our personal power, we will feel a desire to contribute, to explore, to dream up new ways of being, and to action those dreams in the world.  It is a time for visionaries, leaders and the building of lasting change.

Take time to reflect on what you have learned from the crucible of 2012.  What are your strengths, your weaknesses, your passions and desires?  What do you want more of? Less of? Use this information as a map for your future.

This next year will see opportunities for you to set or rebuild the foundations for stability and financial security again – for yourself and family, and within your community, business or country. As you begin to feel secure, it will feel natural to extend a helping hand to others, and so the cycle of growth and kindness will spiral outwards in many manifestations.

2013 is a year for inspired vision – the vision we hold for ourselves, and the vision we hold for the world around us.  Many leaders and positive movements will be born from this energy, and those with a yearning to serve and to shape will have ample opportunity to do so.

It will no longer work for us to be engaged in activities ‘just for the money’.  We will only find satisfaction as our hearts, our intellects, our values are integrated into how we live and the way we operate in the world. We will feel compelled to make decisions and to take actions that reflect our vision, and we will have a strong need to make the world a better place – at home, and then further afield.

2013 is a year for developing our skills and our craft – be it a creative, personal or spiritual path. You’ll discover a strength within you, and it will no longer serve you to live a life that is categorised by fear, doubt and limitation.  Forge partnerships, find your tribe, align yourself with mentors and courses and resources that encourage and support your growth, or be that supportive teacher for others!

Creating a sense of richness and inspiration through the arts, culture, nature, time, relationships, travel, and your own creative endeavours can make this a landmark year for you. Let go of relationships and pursuits that are empty and meaningless and focus your precious time on what lights you up.

Allow yourself to be a bold explorer of life this year.  Blaze a trail. Think outside the square.  Lend your voice and your energy to the things you are passionate about.  Be part of this powerful force of change.

Cultivate a sense of personal responsibility, make a plan and be open to new opportunities that come your way. This year you are being empowered to make your life work, and for it to look more like the life you dream for yourself.  This will take courage and action, but with these two qualities so much is possible.

2013 is the beginning of a new age – so get ready to make the most of this transformative energy and be part of this global vibration of change.

It’s time to remember…

Hey Sister, You Okay?

Image from holmsteen.dk

I was looking forward to Saturday. In the last few weeks I’ve supported a friend through the end stages of terminal cancer, holding her hand til she passed, ridden the roller coaster of supporting an addict in recovery, and juggled my daily work and writing. Saturday was this wonderful window of calm in front of me like a soft pillow to lay my weary head.

Nothing went to plan for me. My do-nothing day of leisure and self-replenishment which I had so looked forward to became about helping others through various crises and melt-downs.  It’s okay.  The Universe obviously cleared my calender so I’d be available for the people who needed me most.  But it was an emotionally draining day, capping a difficult few weeks, and it left me wrung out.

I was driving through the inner city late yesterday when the traffic suddenly slowed.  Cars tooted their horns.  People yelled and gestured. I though there must have been a dog on the road.

The traffic slowed to a stop.  I couldn’t see what was happening, so I said a quiet prayer, asking that the animal be okay and be guided back to safety.  Finally the cars began moving again, swerving around something in the middle of the road.  Some stopped to hurl abuse as they drove past. I craned my neck, trying to see what was obstructing our way.

Imagine my horror and disbelief when I saw an elderly aboriginal woman in the middle of the road.  She was just sitting there, a shopping bag beside her on the ground, one shoe off, grazed knees.  I pulled my car over to the side as soon as I could find a park and raced back to check on her.

“Hey, Sister,” she croaked at me as I got closer. “Can you see me? All the rest of your mob think I’m invisible.”

“Hey, Sister,” I called to her.  “I see you. You okay?”

She swung her head towards me, squinting in the sun, but said nothing.  I waited for a car to pass and crossed over to her.

“Hi, I’m Nicole.  Are you okay?  Do you need some help?”

She nodded her head yes.

I helped her up, and over to the footpath. She was unsteady on her feet and I wondered if I should call an ambulance.

“Sorry, love. I’m real sorry.”  She leaned heavily on my arm.  “I just live along here. Too late eating lunch and my strength’s gone. I came over all dizzy. I’ve got sugar,” she said weakly.

“You’re diabetic?” I asked as we walked up some steps to a small flat.

“Yes.”

I got her inside, and she asked me to make her a sandwich, while she ate some jellybeans.  Then her neighbour popped in and said she would make her friend a cup of tea and stay with her until she came ‘right’ again.

Before I left I asked if there was anyone I could call, or if she wanted me to take her to the doctor.

The old aboriginal lady patted my hand. “I’m alright now I’m home. You know, you’re a true nice girl,” she said.  “Brought up proper. Your mother and grandmother, you do them proud. Here….”  Reaching over to a box she pulled something out. “This is for you.”

She opened a small drawstring bag and put the contents in my hand, one by one.

A bag full of treasures

“This shell, it’s from up my country.”

She placed it on my palm, and tiny grains of sand stuck to my fingers.  I wanted to hold it to my nose and smell the sea.  Suddenly I was homesick for my little farm at Byron Bay with a physical ache.

“Got this stone from the river.  See how nice and smooth it is.” It was a piece of clear quartz, tumbled milky, and still luminous. I felt such comfort, and thought of Angels.

This one,” she held up a twisted grey rock, “I got this one off the beach. It reminds me of a baby wrapped up tight in his blanket, trying to talk to you. Feels real nice in your hand.”

“This one – it’s coral.  Looks like an alien head with them two eyes.” She chuckled. “Friendly fella for watching over you.”

“And this last one, he’s a fossil crab, real old from the old times.  Good for protecting your soft heart.”

I left with brimming eyes, embarrassed by her kindness.

And I never asked her name.

Today I’m holding these precious treasures in my hands and feeling humbled and awed. I wonder if she knew how much these things would mean to me, or what they symbolise after so hard a day, so hard a week.

Hey Sister, you okay?

I feel like it was HER watching out for ME.

Old Souls in New Bodies

Ever wondered why many children being born now seem so sensitive, or a little ‘different’?  Notice that today many more children have some form of  ADD, Autism, Aspergers, allergies and intolerances?  Have you realised that many of today’s children have a much greater awareness of the environment, social justice and world events?  These children are old souls in new bodies.  Perhaps you are the parents of one of these children, or perhaps you are one of them yourself!

Many of the children who have been born since the 1970s (and a few trailblazers before that time) are old and wise souls who have deliberately chosen this lifetime in order to bring about change upon this planet.  A soul is not ‘old’ just because of the number of lifetimes they have had!  A soul is considered ‘old’ when they have reached a certain level of knowledge, clarity and self awareness.  Some souls take their learning from the place ‘between’ lives, as well as from actual incarnations.  Many of today’s children are souls who have not been incarnate on this earth for a very long time, or perhaps not at all.  They can find the transition from spiritual to third dimensional reality a difficult and confusing time.

Our world is now a crazy, fast paced, polluted and energetically frenetic place, packed with a cacophony of souls.  Most of today’s children knew an Earth that was quieter, and slower, with more natural environment, far fewer people, and much deeper social and personal connection.  It can take some time for them to adjust to their new environment.

Most people have heard of Indigo, Rainbow,Crystal and Star children.  I’m not going to use those labels. Labels usually end up limiting a child, or a parent’s perception of a child.  Instead, let’s look at some of the many energies these children are bringing to our planet.

Some of our children have incarnated on the earth to contribute to massive change in our society, environment, education system and economy.  These children may not fit the mould.  They may have advanced verbal and emotional skills, and be confident and mature from early childhood.  They will gravitate to leadership roles and hate being treated like children. These children need responsibility, accountability (strong, clear rules and consequences that are fair), boundaries and encouragement.

Or they may be the reverse – shy with poor social skills. They may be obsessed with electronics, technology, and sciences.  NASA is full of kids like these!  They won’t usually care what other people think of them.  Some of these children can be labeled with Autism and Aspergers.  Not all of them will want or need relationships outside their immediate family, but many will grow up to settle into relationships and families of their own after they have their feet firmly on their path.  They often have excellent senses of humour, although a little off-beat.  These children may need help to learn how to socialise and interact. They usually understand systems, so teaching social etiquette will give them a framework to handle most situations with good manners, helping them to build friendships and to fit in with others. Don’t speak down to these children, and practice patience.

Some children coming to earth right now have the intention of helping to raise the world’s vibration.  They seek to develop our interconnectedness, psychic and intuitive abilities, and to help us to stop fighting and start loving each other.  They are full of joy, love, laughter, playfulness and understanding.  These souls love healing and helping.  They have a deep affinity with vibrational energies – hence their love of crystals, nature, music, reiki and so on.  With this heightened emotional sensitivity they can often be upset, or have their feelings hurt, and they worry about upsetting others too.  There is a sense of magical wonder about them, and they have may have impressive telepathic abilities.  Even before they are born they may start communicating with you. These children need to be encouraged to have personal space and boundaries, and will benefit from pets and gardening, and non-competitive things like music and team-based service.

All of these beautiful children are often labelled and judged, both positively and negatively.  That’s really not much use, to us, or to them.  Instead these children need what we ALL need: love, reassurance, acceptance and the opportunity to develop their own personalities, talents and ideas.

If you are thinking about having a child, then detoxify.  This goes for Mum and Dad.  These old souls have a high vibration, so raise yours as much as you can with good preconception care.  Also try crystal healings, acupuncture/acupressure, reiki, a healthy diet, meditation and other energetic and natural therapies to make your body clear, healthy and balanced.

Reassure and encourage these children, and then keep doing that, no matter how old they are!  Feed them healthy food, free of chemicals and additives, and get them out into nature often.  Help them manage stress, and reduce stress in your own life.  Remind them often how much they are loved.  Support your child to choose their own path, and nurture and encourage their talents.  Celebrate the diversity that these children bring to our world, and reach out to include them in the wider family to which we all belong – humanity!
