Pirates, Sailing Ships and Sanditon

A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction.
Virginia Woolf
Hey, Lovelies.
I have gifted myself April as a month for rest, quiet reflection, writing, and life redesign.
In full accountability I though I’d share a little of what my day looked like yesterday.
I started with meditation, and then went back to bed.
Later, Ben and I went for an early breakfast.
When we came home I had a nap, after which I did some deep stretching and yoga. Goodness, I am still tired down to my bones, and I think this will take a long time to heal.
I worked on the 2024 Journeymaker’s Planner, which is almost finished. How wonderful it is to see it all coming together. I chatted with my Inner Circle Members and answered a few messages.
Then, over lunch, I watched a couple of informative YouTube videos on pirates, Vikings, sailing ships of the 1500s to 1800s, rigging of galleons and square-sail caravels, and topped that off with the first episode of a regency-era drama called Sanditon – all in the name of research (for my current manuscript and my Pirates and Fairies series).
I played with my cards, and wrote in my journal.
I sat and watched the birds and sipped tea.
I meditated again after a simple dinner, and then called it a night.
I can feel the vaguest of shapes forming about what may come next in my life.
But my stories? Ooomph, they have come back to me with a flourish. They must have been waiting just out of sight, for that moment where I had an easing in my schedule.
I hope you can find a few comforting moments in your week for self-care and reflection too.
Love, sea shanties, nautical terms and chai, Nicole xx
