Crying Over Sushi

Me, driving!

“There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask “What if I fall?”
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?”
~  Erin Hanson

Yesterday was quite a remarkable day for me. In the morning I drove to the other side of town for a meeting with an illustrator who’s joining my team. We’ll be working on a few projects together, including a tarot deck, oracle cards and a fairy book. Squeeeeeeee!!!

From there I drove to a supplier to pick up a few things. Then I was STARVING and also quite urgently needing to pee, so I drove a little further to a shopping mall at Carindale where I was able to use the rest rooms and then eat some lunch.

Lunch was slightly delayed though. As I wandered the huge mall, trying to orient myself and find a lunch spot I saw a woman coming towards me, crying and in obvious distress. She stopped me to ask me where the bathrooms were, and as I touched her arm to ask if she was okay information and images flooded through me. She had just been told that her Nana had died. A lady who had brought her up, and been a steadying influence for a dysfunctional family.

“I’m so sorry about your Nana,” I said to her without thinking. “She loved you very much.”

The woman lifted her head in panic and stared at me. “How do you know that?”

“I’m psychic,” I said. “Sometimes I just know things.”

The woman began crying harder so I led her over to a bench and we sat down together.

I sat and waited as she cried. She needed someone with her, and I knew it was wrong to try and comfort her; she needed to feel her feelings.

Finally she calmed and asked me about a necklace I was wearing. It’s my meditation mala I made for my recent Temple of Light retreat. I explained that each crystal represented a student, and that the final few crystals represented my family, my community and the world. I then took my mala off and showed her how I used it to meditate and pray for them all twice a day.

“Could you pray for my Nana?” she asked me.

So I held her hands and we sat in the middle of Carindale with our heads bowed and our eyes closed and I prayed aloud for her grandmother, and for this woman and her family, and I asked for her Ancestors and Angels to gather around them and watch over them all.

After which we talked about death and souls and love, and how souls and love are eternal. Finally comforted and okay the woman thanked me. We hugged and then went our own ways. I’d never even learned her name or given mine.

A few minutes later I was sitting in a little corner of a sushi restaurant, watching the plates come towards me in an endless stream of yumminess. Now I began to cry. Not over the events with the distressed woman – anyone who knows me will tell you that my daily life inevitably looks like that. I’m here to be of service. My door is always open and my light is always on. Somehow, people find me when they need me. No, I wasn’t crying about that. I was crying about freedom.

I was sitting on my own in a sushi restaurant. I had driven myself from one side of town to the other, I’d merged with other cars on the freeway, I’d negotiated traffic, I’d parked the car, done hill-starts in a manual car on a steep road, visited places of business, enjoyed a fruitful design meeting about projects I had shelved several times due to poor health, and now I was in a fancy shopping mall buying myself lunch. After which I would drive myself home. ALL ON MY OWN after ten years of relying on Ben to drive me almost everywhere, and for the past five years of having been almost a complete prisoner to illness that had stopped me driving.

I was free. And it felt like a miracle.

After lunch I drove myself home and immediately rang my sister to share the adventures of my morning. Later that afternoon I drove to my elderly mother-in-law’s to drop off some groceries, make her dinner and keep her company. It was a very full day indeed.

Wow.

That’s all I have for yesterday… Wow. I got my life back. After years of suffering all kinds of horrors due to Lyme disease I am finally well enough to reclaim my independence.

Wow.

Thanks for sticking by me as I’ve walked this long road. I’m not done yet, but I’m well on my way. I think that deserves a few tears at a sushi train!

Sending the biggest love and hugs your way, Nicole  xoxo

PS –  if you want to join me for the last retreat of the year you can find out more here: Soul Sanctuary – Working With Crystals. But it’s almost full, so please act quickly. I won’t be running this particular retreat again any time soon, so this is your one chance for this one, and it’s going to be AMAZING!

Meditation mala and a happy driver!

Create A Foundation Of Spiritual Habits – Workshop

2012-09-01 10.32.54

“You can’t make yourself feel positive, but you can choose how to act, and if you choose right, it builds your confidence.”
~ Julien Smith, The Flinch

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

One of the things that has been most useful in developing my psychic and intuitive abilities has been my daily spiritual practice. Each morning when I wake up I take my Medicine Bag – a bag filled with the tools I use in my morning meditations and rituals – and I sit myself somewhere to quietly greet the day.

I light a candle and some incense, I choose a crystal, I sit in meditation, after which I use a deck of oracle or tarot cards to pull one card for the day and reflect on its meaning for me. Then I write any insights in my journal. This might take me five minutes on the busiest of days, or up to an hour when I have time to go deeply into my practice.

Because all my tools are in a small bag I can take that bag everywhere with me, and I do. I have visited friends, taken business trips, gone on holidays and still carried out my daily routine. My Medicine Bag has travelled Australia, crossed the oceans, and been my companion as I have roamed the world.

No matter where I am, I am anchored by ritual and daily practice. And when the world feels particularly crazy and hard to navigate, this daily practice becomes a place for essential grounding and centering as I find my way back to my heart and to that place of love that is deep connection with spirit.

Talisman beginnings

Make Your Own Talisman and Healing Beads – Morning Workshop – Saturday 26 November from 10am to 12pm  Just a few places left!

A Talisman is a small spiritual object which has been made with love and infused with specific energies to help attract or achieve a certain outcome. I was taught variously how to make Talismans by one of my Aboriginal Aunties, by a Native American Medicine Woman and also by a friend’s grandmother, who came from a long line of traditional healers in her culture (which is also the culture of my own ancestors).

In this workshop I will show you how to make a Talisman so that it is infused with energy, purpose and intent. I will show you how to ‘sing’ your beads into harmony with an energy or outcome.

Talisman making is a sacred act of focus and devotion for yourself or someone you care about. There will be many materials for you to choose from, but I also encourage you to bring something of your own – such as a charm, small image, feather, crystal or shell, if it has a special significance.

Healing Beads are beads that can be held or worn and which hold energies specific to your well-being. They can be used to focus on any issue or area of health and well-being for yourself or a loved one.

You will make and take home a hand-crafted Talisman and a set of Healing Beads. All materials and information will be provided. Morning tea will also be served. Suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners. This workshop is open to adults and children aged 15 and up.

Cost: $120  – Please RSVP to Dana at nicolecodyinfo@gmail.com

Can’t get to Brisbane? Contact Dana and ask to be put on our online workshops mailing list – as both of these courses will go online in early 2017.

Whales, Bird Fairies and Magic

sunrise

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
~ Roald Dahl

Yesterday when I finished my morning meditation I stood on the deck outside my bedroom and watched whales breaching and blowing out in Byron Bay, greeting the sunrise with exuberance and enthusiasm. It was a magical beginning to my day.

Here at Retreat we are surrounded by nature, and serenaded by the chorus of birdsong and the distant roar of surf.

It helps us to go deep in our spiritual work, in such a peaceful environment.

My students were practicing their first verbal trance channelling yesterday, so they paired up and scattered themselves through the grounds to find some space and privacy for their work. I was left in the big hall on my own.

Just off that hall is a small room, and two of my group settled themselves there.  There was finally time for a break for me so I made myself a cuppa and went and stood at the door to the hall.

A bird joined me. He flew onto the ground six feet in front of me and hopped towards me.

bird

Hello, I said to the bird.

Excuse me, he seemed to say, and then he cocked his head as if he was listening. His eyes brightened as he heard the sound of one of my students laughing . Then he hopped past me, up the stairs and into the hall.

Curious, I followed him.

Hop, hop, hop, he went across the foyer. Hop, hop, up the stairs. Hop hop into the big hall.  Then he flew up onto the back of the first chain in the row, and hopped his way, chair to chair, right across the hall until he was outside the small room.

I held my breath, wondering what he would do. Wondering if I should stop him. I didn’t want my channelling students to be startled.

Before I could make a decision he flew into the small room where two women were working. One had her eyes closed, and was in the channelling state. The other was taking notes and assisting.

The bird jumped onto a pillow near the student whose eyes were open, then flew around the room and landed opposite her. He stared at her with his steely gaze. When he was satisfied he simply flew back the way he had come and up into the trees. It was such a strange thing to witness.

I stood at the door to check on my students.

Bird Fairy, my student said to me. When I did your Fairy Oracle last week I chose the Bird Fairy. I’ve been seeing birds ever since. They follow me. I feel like it’s giving me conformation that I’m on the right path. She smiled broadly, and then they went on with their work.

It certainly was a magical day. 🙂

There’s A New Oracle Coming!

“Never forget that anticipation is an important part of life. Work’s important, family’s important, but without excitement, you have nothing. You’re cheating yourself if you refuse to enjoy what’s coming.”
~ Nicholas Sparks, Three Weeks With My Brother

For the love of Fairies, and with the help of a certain special Fairy, Sokli and I are creating a new Fairy Oracle.

In between getting ready for my Beginners Channelling retreat, which begins next weekend. (My entire house is piled high with pretty present bags, journals, crystals, singing bowls, essential oil potions, and other fabulous things.)

Stay tuned, I’ll be posting it tomorrow. This Oracle will be full of lovely things, like crystal and flower essence guidance, as well as some magical Fairy wisdom about how to find Fairies for yourself.

See you then!

Lots of love, Nicole and Sokli <3 xoxo
