A Week for Empowered Action – Monday Oracle 18 March 2019

Hello, Lovelies!

March is a month of creativity and inspiration that will propel us forward in new directions and where we can make major progress towards existing goals. Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts of inspiration which the card Acceptance brings us.

There are two big themes to the energies of this week: Self-Love and Ultimate Responsibility. Acceptance shows us the wisdom of truly honouring the truth of our current circumstances. We might not like where we are at in our lives, or how we are behaving, we might not be happy with our choices, we may feel far from our goals and dreams – but Acceptance teaches us that the starting point for all self-love and all self-acceptance is to be present with the truth of where we are at right now in this moment.

Sitting in that place of truth (even if we don’t like what we see!) is empowering. It gives us a starting point and a place from which we can measure any future progress. Acceptance is the powerful energy of owning where we are at, within the framework of all of the other circumstances and relationships that impact our life.

This week take a little time to do an audit of your life. Where are you are with your health, your relationships, your money, your career, your goals or anything else important to you? Don’t judge or blame yourself for being where you are – that’s never helpful. Allow yourself to connect to the truth of your situation without emotion. It is what it is. Self-love can only come when we begin at this place of honesty with ourselves, and are able to love and accept ourselves DESPITE things within our current reality we would rather were different.

Acceptance also empowers us to take Ultimate Responsibility for our life this week. Ultimate Responsibility means that we stop blaming others, we stop finding excuses, we stop justifying or validating. We stop running ourselves down and trash-talking ourselves. Instead, we choose to accept responsibility for every single thing in our lives, no matter how we got to that place.

When we take Ultimate Responsibility we stop waiting for other people to change or to fix things for us and we empower ourselves to either 1) stop complaining and accept things as they are, or 2) make the decision to change what we don’t like and then take action until we get an outcome that is better than our current reality.

In the spirit of the Acceptance card and the gifts she brings what one area of your life can you take Ultimate Responsibility for this week, empowering yourself to make changes to give you better outcomes?

August is here, bringing a delicious basket of delights. It’s a month for creativity in all forms and for getting back into the flow of life again. You’ll find a lift in your mood and a clear road ahead so get ready to make the most of the opportunities all around you.Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts of inspiration which the oracle card  Wishing Upon A Star brings us.

Wishing Upon A Star is a sign that a special wish or dream may soon be fulfilled. It’s a sign of favourable conditions and good outcomes. July’s energies have been so heart-full and supportive of love and togetherness. In these final few days of this month’s energies make sure you find time for the people and things you love. Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts of inspiration which the oracle card Aladdin and the Magic Lamp brings us.

This week Aladdin and the Magic Lamp remind us of the power of our dreams. And a dream is never more important than when we are in a hard place, a dark place, a place from which the attainment of that dream seems impossible.

The Week Ahead – Oracle for Monday 14 August 2017

Hello, Lovelies,

Here’s Monday’s oracle card, and my energetic forecast for the week ahead. I use any cards shown as a prompt for channelled messages and my own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book. ‘Dissipating’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for August, you’ll remember that August brings an emerging energy of creativity, emotional healing and an abiding need for more balance in our lives. 

Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts Dissipating brings us this week.

So last week was one of the finest weeks for creativity I’ve seen in a long time, and the energies of that creative and spiritual connection carry over this week until Tuesday evening. (Need a refresh on last week’s forecast? Click here.)

But what happens after that?

All that creative headwind starts to dissipate. Some of you might consider the dip in energies which begins on Wednesday to be a slump. Suddenly you’ll move from being bright and full of enthusiasm for your projects to that place of questioning your very ideas, or worse. (Maybe you know that space that is so familiar to creatives – the “I suck, my ideas suck, this all sucks” space.)

Don’t give in to the blahs and start looking for a new bright shiny dream or project to chase after this week. The lower, slower energies are actually well suited to rest, reflection and topping up your creative tank. All projects and ideas need to sit for a while after they are first made. This enables us to come back to them with fresh eyes so that we can review and edit them to shape them into something even better than our first efforts.

This week shows you how to stick with an existing idea or project until the energy begins to ramp up again. It encourages you to create sustainably and to ride the cycles of creativity that ebb and flow in your life.

Nephrite Jade (Greenstone) is a stone that supports heart-centred living and emotional expression in life and in art. Carnelian energises and grounds the physical body and aids all forms of healing and creativity – great for overcoming exhaustion and burnout. Turquoise encourages empathy, compassion and the ability to slow down and stay grounded. Amethyst helps us to tune in to all forms of spiritual guidance.

Helpful essential oils?

Young Living’s Abundance essential oil blend, or a combination (or singly!) of any of Orange, Geranium, Frankincense and Myrrh. Abundance opens us to the flow of life, helping us to act from a place of love, trust and benevolence. Just rub a drop together in the palms of your hands and then breathe in and wipe through your aura.  Dab a few drops on your wrists or over your heart – its warm, spicy aroma makes it a great perfume or cologne. A few drops in the bath are wonderful too. You may want to dilute with a drop or two of a base oil such a sweet almond or coconut before applying directly to the skin.  It’s my oil of choice in my diffuser this week.

Is Perfection Your Secret Disease? – Oracle for Monday 6 March 2017

The oracle card I have chosen to guide us this week is ‘Perfection’ from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for March, you’ll remember that March is all about creating systems and structures which make your everyday life more supported and sustainable.

So, what gifts does Perfection bring for you this week?

Perfection is a trap that steals time, momentum and positivity. It’s a sickness, a weakness that masquerades as something worthy.

We tell ourselves that we strive for perfection because we care so much. We want to do a good job. We want to get it right. We hold ourselves to a high standard.

In fact, sometimes we can’t even see that the reason we’re not moving forward is a perfection thing.

But so often it’s a perfection thing…

Perfection stops us from making decisions. Because what if there is a better one? What if we get it wrong? What if what we choose or decide fails us in some way?

Perfection stops us from even starting.

Instead we build entire worlds in our heads about how it could look, or even worse how it should have looked. (Yep, we spend time looking at the past, wishing we could have done things differently!) We use all our energy on thinking and worrying and comparing instead of simply DOING.

Perfection gets us into such a knot of not-good-enough that we procrastinate endlessly, and wear ourselves down into dust. We’re exhausted and spent before we even begin.

Perfection is an insidious disease that robs us of momentum, optimism and satisfaction.

This week the Perfection card reminds us to stop for a moment and examine our patterns of thought. And to look carefully at our patterns of action, or inaction.

What’s stopping you? What thoughts are going through your head? What’s worrying you? Why are you hesitating?

If necessary get it all down on paper. Just to get it out where you can see it clearly instead of having all those subversive joy-killing thoughts at the back of your head.

Then find a starting point and DO SOMETHING.

Not starting because of fear of failing is actually failing anyway. Had you ever realised that?

So – say yes. Or no. Start something. End something. Get some action happening and some choices made.

You may feel very wobbly as you start out, but action creates momentum and momentum creates stability and clarity. If you keep waiting, not doing anything, that clarity and momentum will continue to elude you. And you’ll stay a victim of the perfection disease.

Be a beginner, and then keep going. That’s how you get to mastery.

But above all, just be yourself!

A Note of Encouragement For You – Monday Oracle for 27 February 2017

Hello, Lovelies.

If you read my forecast for February, you’ll remember for these last few days of the month that February is all about turning inwards, and tuning in to our own wants and needs, staying true to ourselves and our goals despite our fears or what other people may tell us. Keep that in the back of your mind as you read through the rest of this post.

So, what gifts does Acceptance bring for you this week?

This week is a week for accepting that where we are at is where we are! We cannot run away from ourselves or the truth of our current situation, even if we want to be further along in our lives, and have a head full of plans and dreams to make it so.

We are also reminded that we are enough. If we have been given a dream, we are enough and there is enough within us for us to be able to realise that dream.

We are worthy of love. We are worthy of success. We are worthy of happiness. We are worthy of redemption. No matter what has gone before, what choices we may have made or failures we may have endured, there is always hope. Life is constantly changing, and so can we.

Sometimes the realisation of our hopes and dreams starts in the most humble of ways, with steps forward that are invisible to everyone else except us.

But we can see them. That matters!

Saving an extra $5 a week, walking around the block, writing 500 words a week, putting one less sugar in your coffee, devoting an hour every Sunday to your bigger plan – none of that is dramatic or sexy or immediately life-changing. But it all adds up. Slow steady change is more likely to become transformative and sustainable than one or two crazy efforts that exhaust you and can’t be easily replicated.

Acceptance encourages us to stay true to our course, even if we can’t see results yet. It reminds us not to compare ourselves to others. It tells us not to give up on ourselves and our dreams.

Why You Need Time for Yourself This Week! – Monday Oracle 20 February 2017

It’s a big week ahead for putting your own needs front and centre in your life!

Keep that in the back of your mind as you read through the rest of this post.

 

So, what gifts does Service bring for you this week?

It’s a big wake-up call!

Usually (especially for Lightworkers and sensitive souls) our first thought when we think of service is to serve others.

This week, we are on notice that service must begin with us – we must look after ourselves and our own needs and dreams. This isn’t selfish. You cannot give to others from an empty cup. It’s important to fill your own cup first!

If you’re coming into this week already exhausted, take action to get this sorted out before exhaustion becomes burnout. Stubbornness might carry you through in the short-term, but if it is employed as a daily coping mechanism to push past fatigue or misery, it will never end well. Cut back your schedule. Cancel or rearrange things. Rest. Retreat. Take a ‘mental health’ day, or at least a few extra hours for yourself.

This week is a good time to plan for or take action on personal maintenance issues too. You know, those things that are so easy to put off, and put off… Your yearly health check or pap smear, a dental check-up, a haircut or shopping for new clothes or shoes, fixing that broken thing that you never quite get around to, getting your tax sorted. Let yourself be a priority for a change. Go do those things you’ve been avoiding or making a low priority while you run around after everyone else.

Service also reminds us that the last day of our lives is not the time to realise that we never lived true to ourselves and our dreams.  Putting the hopes, needs and dreams of other people before our own is part of the problem. When we constantly put others first, we instruct the Universe that it’s okay for us to be second best, and for our own needs to go unaddressed.

But is that really true? Are we really okay with that?

I love Wayne Dyer’s quote at the top of this page, ‘Don’t die with your music still inside you.’  We don’t know how much time we have. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. So, if there’s something inside you that needs to be expressed or experienced don’t keep putting it off. Because we all run out of time. Make a start. Let go of grand plans and just begin.

‘Service’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.  I use any oracle or tarot cards shown as a prompt for channelled messages and my own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book or traditionally ascribed to a particular card.

Hello Lovelies,

I promised that during our Journal Challenge I would be having a weekly giveaway and a few little facebook parties.

So…

We’re going to start with some beautiful handmade runes, carved into carnelian. I love using runes for guidance. They give you new perspectives on existing issues, and insights into possible courses of action or patterns of thinking. I especially love these carnelian runes for two reasons: 1 – they are made from carnelian, a stone that was first given to me by my aboriginal aunties, and which is a powerful crystal for physical healing, clear thought and insights, energy and action, and 2 – I come from a strong Viking heritage, which is where runestones first originated. So to my mind this wonderful set combines the best of those energies.

Show me dem hands…

The next installment of my Kimberley Story

The night that I sat up by the campfire with Auntie I knew I was making choices. I knew I was making decisions that would affect the rest of my life. I just didn’t know what I was really getting into.  If I had, perhaps I may have chosen differently.

I’d endured a huge argument with my partner when I finally went back to our room. He couldn’t understand why I had spent so long sitting in the dirt with an old, barefoot aboriginal woman. I couldn’t explain it myself. It was the beginning of a distance between us that would eventually end the relationship.

Weeks went by, out in my remote corner of the Outback. After Auntie came to visit me I tried to shrug off the sense of foreboding and concentrate on my work, and on trying to be ‘normal’. I know she had asked me to come visit her up in her country, but I felt uncomfortable to go.

Soon though, she sent a delegation. One Saturday morning Little Auntie and Grandmother turned up at our Cattle Station; two old ladies chauffeured in the Aboriginal Stockman’s brother’s big old red truck.

The Stockman came and banged on my door. “Auntie send some women for you. She bin watching you. You come have tea with dem.” It was an order, rather than a request.

It was a quiet time – the weekend – and I had two days off. My partner was away, working. All I had been doing was lying on my bed, reading a book. I could hardly say no.

Little Aunty was one of the tiniest women I had ever seen. She was perhaps four feet tall, stooped and leathery, with fragile-looking wrists, impossibly thin legs and birdlike eyes. I can’t say how old she was.  Definitely in her seventies.  But she could have been in her eighties or even older.  It was hard to tell. And I was younger then, and not so observant of these things.

Grandmother was a stocky woman in her sixties, with a broad waist and hips, an ample bosum and a tremendous laugh. Her curly black hair was shot through with silver, and she spoke good English.  Little Aunty had no English at all.

I made a pot of strong tea, and at the Stockman’s request brought a tin of condensed milk and a plate of cake with me, and I met the women outside the dining room, where they had gathered some plastic chairs under a tree. It was just the three of us, sitting in the deep shade on a stinking hot day.

“Why are you here?” I asked.  “Did Auntie really send you?”

They both smiled and ignored me.

We ate some cake, and drank the tea, made thick and sweet with the condensed milk. Little Auntie smacked her lips together in appreciation, oblivious to the flies that crawled all over us. She hooked one finger and scooped a fly out of her tea and kept on drinking.

Finally Grandmother looked at me, all business. “Show me dem hands,” she said.

I held them out to her, and while Grandmother took my hands by the wrists Little Auntie scooped up some red dirt in her own hands and rubbed it vigorously into mine.

Then Little Auntie took my hands and held them loosely in her tiny ones.  She poured over them, pressing her thumb into the palm of my hand and the fleshy mound below my thumb. She turned them this way and that, tracing the lines with a grubby thumbnail. While she did this she made funny little clicking sounds with her tongue. The longer she held my hands the warmer they became.

“You feel dat?” Grandmother asked, coolly observing my every move.

“Yes,” I said. “My hands are hot.” But they weren’t simply hot, they were burning and tingling and it felt like ants were crawling all over them.

Grandmother just nodded. Then she made a small grass fire and placed some green gum leaves in it to make smoke.  The two old women passed my hands back and forth in the fragrant smoke. Little Auntie would sniff my hands and feel them, and then back they would go into the smoke. Finally she was satisfied.

Little Auntie’s eyes were glistening and happy with a kind of pure child-like joy. She said something that sounded like a curdled sigh. Grandmother laughed and then turned to me, smiling.

“You know dat ting in dem hands of yours?” Grandmother said. “It come from your grandmother, from your grandfather, from your people way way back. All dem ancestors. It in you now, dat power. In you forever. No give him back. Okay?”

I don’t know why, but my eyes filled up with tears. I felt the connection deep in my heart, and it made me feel so much less alone.

Behind us the station workers began to file in to the dining room for lunch. I flinched under their gaze, exposed and vulnerable. I didn’t want them to see what we had been doing. Even though it probably didn’t look like anything at all. But it was SOMETHING to me – something significant, something so unexpected and raw and wild and strong.

I longed to soar up into the sky. I craved to dive into the deepest ocean. But I sat on my chair in the shade, and asked if I could get these ladies some lunch or some more tea.

“No,” said Grandmother. “We walk a lil bit now. You come too.”

So I fetched my hat and my sunglasses and we went down to the river. Little Auntie found me a craggy raw agate, rimmed with bright carnelian, and pressed it into my hands, placing it between my palms and then squeezing my hands tight against the stone.

“Dat fella good for you. Good for dat magic,” said Grandmother.

It’s the first crystal I ever felt the energy of – and it remains one of my most treasured possessions.

That was the day my hands were activated. And Grandmother was right. I can’t turn the power off. I can’t give it back. And I don’t want to anymore, anyway…
