How Controversial Should I Be?

“But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.”
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

I was working with a client a few days ago, and the topic rolled around to suicide.

She had been suicidal once, at a truly difficult time in her life. With therapy and support her life has now moved beyond the worst of the pain and back to a place of balance. But there is no-one to talk with about what happened, she said, now that she no longer pays a therapist to listen. And she worries people will think she is still in that space if she tries to talk about it with friends or family.

‘I understand,’ I said to her.

‘How could you?’ she answered crossly. ‘Only people who’ve been there understand. I mean REALLY understand.’

‘I can feel into your body, and step inside you where you met that pain head-on. So yes, I can understand it from inside you – as a psychic,’ I said, ‘but I also understand. Me. I understand.’ I said those last words more slowly this time, weighting each one.

‘No way,’ she said. ‘You? I don’t believe it.’ She looked genuinely shocked.

‘It’s true.’ I looked her in the eye. ‘I have stood in that place twice, and both times it was unexpected. Each place was a different planet I hope never to go back to. Both times I found a solution that ultimately kept me here. And you’re right. No-one ever talks about this stuff.’

We were out of time, and this was about me now, not about her.

‘Maybe you could blog about it,’ she said to me as we finished up. ‘I would have found that useful, to have known someone like you could have had feelings like me. I mean, I was so f*cked up and broken and ashamed…’ She paused. ‘To have read that, to read that now, would still be helpful. So, could you?’

What do you think, dear Tribe? I’ve written about being psychic and being incontinent and all other manner of personal over-sharing. Should I break this taboo too?

I’ll be guided by you.

Much love, Nicole xx

I Have A Favour To Ask You

“When you have once seen the glow of happiness on the face of a beloved person, you know that a man can have no vocation but to awaken that light on the faces surrounding him. In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
~  Albert Camus

If you read my Welcome to March post you’ll remember that this month is all about relationships and being committed to what matters to us.

Energetically we’ve just gone through a few weeks with solar flares and planetary alignments creating situations where many of us have faced challenges or have needed to face or address problems in our lives.

I know you will have felt it, as all of you here in our Cauldrons and Cupcakes community are intuitive, empathic and sensitive, which is why we get along and understand each other so well.

So my friends, here’s my weekend challenge to you, based on how you’re feeling. Choose the option that suits you best. And yes, you can choose more than one.

  1. Phone a friend or relative to touch base, say hi and check on how they’re doing. This is especially important if they have ongoing issues or if something has happened recently or a while ago in their lives. The world has a short attention span and often only offers support and caring in the first five minutes of an event. Be that voice of kindness at the end of a phone line.
  2. Catch up with some loved ones or friends. Go for a coffee. Ask them around to your place and have them bring a plate to share. Go bowling or to a movie together. Hang out in each others company and catch up on each others news. Yes, this includes your partner and kids! And maybe your pet needs some attention too 🙂
  3. Spend some time on something that matters to you and that will refill your tanks. Alone or in a group – whatever it is that you most need right now.
  4. If you’re the one feeling wrung out or fragile reach out to someone. Phone a family member or friend, join a support group or make an appointment to get some help from a professional. You don’t have to do this alone.
  5. Do something that makes you feel alive. Dancing, travelling, laughing, gardening, surfing. Something new. An old favourite you don’t have enough time for anymore.
  6. Connect up. Use prayer, meditation or your favourite spiritual practices to connect into the comfort and wisdom of your Higher Self, Guides, Angels, God, Nature or whatever is your faith.

We’re all in this crazy life together, and it’s our togetherness that will get us through.
biggest hugs and love, Nicole xoxo

Opening your Heart to Give and Receive

The Heart Chakra is both a receiver and a transmitter for love and wisdom. The more we open our heart by giving, the more we can connect into receiving.  This positive vibration of flow allows us to live from our hearts as intuitive, clear and compassionate beings.

Every heart is capable of hearing the whisperings of another...

Activity:  Our hearts love to love. Here are some suggestions for expressing that energy in the world this week:

  • Play with your pets, or go feed ducks in the local park. Animals are wonderfully intuitive, loving and giving.  Make a connection that expands your own heart.
  • Read to a child, or even to an adult.
  • Catch up with friends for a coffee, a meal or a movie.
  • Play tennis with a friend, or go to a yoga class together. Do anything athletic that involves someone else, some encouragement, some sharing and some laughing.
  • Visit or call an elderly relative or a family member who’ll be glad to see you!
  • Spend an hour giving random but sincere compliments to strangers. Tell the waitress you like her earings, or the supermarket boy that you’re grateful for the skilful way he packs your bag so your bread doesn’t get squashed. Smile. Leave a kind and supportive message on a pillow, tucked into a pocket, or posted on a blog.
  • Volunteer, and care for others in some way. Humans love to give, and to help, and to be united in the energy of that caring.
  • Plan a party or a special event to bring together people that you love, even if that event doesn’t take happen straight away.
  • Join a retreat, workshop or holiday tour and meet new friends.  Be open to connecting with others.

Journalling:

Meet your heart on the page. Take a minute or two to calm yourself, by closing your eyes and breathing deeply. Focus on your heart, and build that energy within you.  Visualise the colour green.  (If you wish, work with the energy of the meditation below before you begin!)  When you are ready start writing, starting with the words, “The thing my wise heart really needs my conscious mind to know is…”

Meditation:

This six minute meditation will help you tap into your heart’s own intuition and wise guidance, opening you up to deeper and deeper levels of spiritual connection.
