Energies of June 2019

“An awake heart is like a sky that pours light.”
~ Hafiz

Hello, Lovelies!

At the beginning of every month, I discuss the energies and gifts of the month ahead and how we can best use them to make our lives satisfying, meaningful and productive. I also choose a card to support the energies of the month. The deck I am using this year is The Good Tarot by Colette Baron-Reid, and June’s card is 8 of Fire.

June brings energies of growth and transformation.

This month you can build on existing situations, foundations and opportunities, further transforming your life through work and self-belief. You’ll start to see results, and your progress will become visible to others too.

The power of teamwork and of focus can’t be overestimated this month. There are so many choices in front of you now, and you may feel like there are too many choices and that everything is moving past you too fast.

If you feel like that, look for some quiet time amid the bustle and haste. Use nature and meditation to bring you back to calm. Choose just a few things on which to focus.

Let the rest go for now, or delegate it to someone else. And get a team together – people who can help and support you. You’ll go so much further together than trying to get it all done on your own.

June puts an emphasis on your health, healing and wellbeing. Don’t let your health slide at the expense of your dreams and goals. Look at ways to work sustainably and get help wherever you can.

Make sure to get a health check, and to keep on top of all of the habits and choices that let you live your best life.

Leave a little time for celebration this month too. Don’t let everything be everyday ordinary.

You don’t need a reason to celebrate – being alive is enough!

Surround yourself with people who support and uplift you.

Do things that make you feel alive. Celebrate others too. Share the joy around.

Fill your life with colour, love and passion. Trust in the journey and believe in good outcomes.

Turquoise – A Great Stone For Healers and Empaths

“A turquoise given by a loving hand carries with it happiness and good fortune.” ~ Arabic proverb

Last week I made a simple turquoise and rose quartz necklace for a friend, and it has been charging up in one of my amethyst caves ever since. I’ll give it to her today – a gift to thank her for all her help as my acupuncturist’s assistant. Her caring and skill have helped me through some difficult days.

I chose turquoise because it is such a supportive stone for healers and empaths. I also added a small rose quartz for love and nurture – replenishing the energy that is so lovingly given out to others. Turquoise is a wonderful crystal. It shields the wearer energetically, and helps to process and let go of emotions that are generated or picked up during work with others. It is very protective of the heart chakra, and clears grief, guilt and trauma.

The emotions of grief, guilt and trauma can move deep into the body. They sit in our throats, our lungs, our hearts, our bellies. It can be our own feelings, or the energies we shift form other people and then take on as our own. Unexpressed, these trapped emotions weaken our immune function, and our digestion. They affect our physical organs, making them more prone to illness and, over time, dis-ease.

Holding grief, guilt and trauma within our bodies is a place that many intuitive, empathic and deeply caring people find ourselves. To love and to care is also to expose ourselves to hurt and to loss. Loving and caring deeply is risky, because when you live in that open-hearted state, love goes hand in hand with suffering. Still, I would advocate that you love anyway. That you care anyway.

One of your greatest gifts is that you care. One of your greatest gifts is that you can live heart-opened. Don’t change that. Just learn to manage it better.

Turquoise, worn on the centre line of the body, is a beautiful crystal for supporting healers in all modalities. Maybe you’d benefit from wearing one too!

Lots of love to you, Nicole xoxo

Guided Meditation For Clearing Guilt, Grief and Trauma

“But pain’s like water. It finds a way to push through any seal. There’s no way to stop it. Sometimes you have to let yourself sink inside of it before you can learn how to swim to the surface.”
~ Katie Kacvinsky

A good friend of mine is unwell right now. I’m not surprised. He is a caring practitioner who goes to great lengths for his patients. When one of them deteriorates or passes away, despite his best efforts, he always feels he could have done more, should have done more…

The emotions of grief, guilt and trauma can move deep into the body. They sit in our throats, our lungs, our hearts, our bellies.

Unexpressed, these trapped emotions weaken our immune function, and our digestion. They affect our physical organs, making them more prone to illness and, over time, dis-ease.

Grief sits in the lungs. It makes it hard for us to breathe. The words we cannot speak stay lodged in the back of our throat. Colds, flu, asthma, strep throat, allergies, sinus – all of these things can move into a body that is holding deep grief.

Guilt is inwardly-expressed judgement of the self. It slows our blood, and cools us. It stagnates our flow. Inadequacy, despair and over-thinking characterise guilt that is trapped and endlessly cycling within the body. Guilt can affect the heart, the lungs, the kidneys, liver and gall-bladder. It wrecks our digestion, and over time our hormone levels and function. Our bodies become unable to repair themselves efficiently.

Trauma is shock stuck within the body. In sensitive and empathic people this usually happens when they are working in a caring capacity, and their attention and efforts are directed at the well-being of someone else in a traumatic, high emotion or distressing situation. Your body fails to process any personal shock and trauma you may experience because you have diverted all of your energies outward in caring for others. It can also happen when you are sitting emotionally open and connected and you suffer a sudden fright or when you tune in deeply to the suffering of another. Fright, trauma and shock are then stored deep within your body, allowing you to continue to function in helping others. But its effect is cumulative. Trauma sits in our gut, eventually causing disruption to our digestion, immune function, sleep patterns and brain function. It leads to anxiety and depression.

This short guided meditation will help you to breathe into these stuck emotions, moving them out of the body and creating space that can be filled with peace, flow, love, light and hope.

The meditation is structured around the Tonglen meditation practice of breathing in pain and suffering, and breathing out peace and comfort.

It is simple but effective. It is something I do as part of my self-care routine every day.
