Making My Life Work for Me – Week 2

“Never tell a young person that anything cannot be done. God may have been waiting centuries for someone ignorant enough of the impossible to do that very thing.” ~ G. M. Trevelyan

“Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon.  A happiness weapon.  A beauty bomb.  And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one.  It would explode high in the air – explode softly – and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air.  Floating down to earth – boxes of Crayolas.  And we wouldn’t go cheap, either – not little boxes of eight.  Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in.  With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest.  And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination.”  ~ Robert Fulghum

Welcome to Week 2 of our six week Making My Life Work for Me Program. (If you’re just joining us now, pop back and read the very first post so that you can gather the materials we’ll be using today.) This week our focus is on being open to new ideas, new solutions and things that have been lurking in our subconscious that we have been too stressed, tired, wired or defeated to pay any real attention to.  There’s good stuff in that head of yours.  There’s treasure for sure!

treasures

Instructions:

We will be following the same format each week.  Read through this entire post before you get started. You can do the activities all on one day, or spread them put over the week – whatever works best for you.

Meditation:

We’re going to start with a meditation. But today it’s an active meditation. Find a song or piece of music you love and queue it ready to play.  Hold your crystal and drape your scarf or shawl around your shoulders.  Start your song and then close your eyes.  Lose yourself to the music.  Let the music get right inside you. When the song finishes sit for a minute, absorbing the energy, and be open to what comes next. The music will deliver a message to you.  Be open to it, and write it down in your journal. It could be lyrics, an image, an idea.  Trust whatever comes to you. This week, in quiet moments, expand on what this message means to you, and how you can begin to incorporate this energy in your life.

Visualisation:

Do this straight after your meditation, when you are ready and open for receiving! Close your eyes and use your imagination. See yourself the way you want yourself to be in the world.  Feel the emotions that come with this, and have gratitude and expectation of drawing these things into your life.  Really put some energy into this.  You can repeat this step again this week (even daily) if it feels right.  Thoughts are things, and this is how you manifest in the Universe!

Using Your Journal:

Go back and re-read your Pledge.  Think about your commitment to making this new life for yourself: one that fits you much better, one that gives you far better satisfaction and scope for joy. Hold this energy of possibility in your heart as you work with your journal this week.

Feel free to use your paints, coloured pens, glitter and stickers to make your journal visually attractive.  Get involved in the creation process and let your Inner Child rock your world, in the very best of ways!

Card of the Week:

2013-03-24 16.30.18Let’s get the ball rolling by selecting this week’s Guidance.  Take your deck of positive cards, or your rune bag.  Close you eyes and offer up a prayer for the Highest Good, and then quiet your mind.

Randomly select a card/rune, trusting that it will have a message to guide you this week.  Write down the name of the card/rune and the message.  Feel free to add any additional thoughts or insights you might have.

The card I’ve chosen this week is well aligned with our theme.

2013-03-31 18.20.53

2013-03-31 18.21.07
Trust that there is a wise and creative part of you that wants to help you redesign your life.  All the answers are within you – now we simply need to learn how to tune in and find them!

Week 2 Journal Activity:

On a clean page write a stream of consciousness around the question What can I do?  This is a big question, once you get started, so don’t limit yourself.  You may even want to come back to it over several days. Write as little or as much as you need to. Simply ask yourself the question and then answer it, letting the words pour out of you. If you feel blocked get up and go for a walk.  Play your song again, and then write! Draw pictures or mind map if you feel like it. If you cry or have some other emotional release understand that this is a good thing.

And now for some fun…

Collage – Things that inspire me.  Take your pile of old magazines and place them in front of you.  Holding your crystal close your eyes and say out loud “Universe, I am open to all Guidance and my own Higher Wisdom to show me the things inspire me, and show me beneficial direction in my life.”  Take a moment and sit in that energy, really feeling yourself connecting into and opening to that wisdom.

Then when you’re ready, open your eyes and start flicking through the magazines.  If any pictures or words appeal to you, cut or rip them out and place them beside you. When you have enough images cut them up neatly, and then spend some time arranging them on a page or double page of your journal.  If your journal isn’t big enough, feel free to use a sheet of cardboard. Glue your images to the page and leave it open to dry.  Now you have a strong visual reminder of your inspirations, how can you incorporate more of these energies in your daily life?

Were there any surprises?  Did you notice any particular themes?

Gratitude:

What’s already working in your life?  List five things in your journal each day that you are grateful for in your life.

Nightly Healing :

Get into bed and spend five minutes lying quietly in meditation with your eyes closed.  Call on God, Universal Energy, your Angels, your Guides, your Ancestors, whomever you feel comfortable and safe with.  Ask for their help.  Fill your body with white light, and then draw coloured light (just allow a colour to come to you) through your crown chakra (an energy point on the top of your head) and send it anywhere in your body that needs healing.  Feel the warmth as the energy radiates through your body, uplifting and healing you.  Know that answers will come while you are sleeping.

Give thanks, send this same healing gift from you to anyone or anywhere else if it feels right, and then sleep.  Expect dreams that inspire, heal and inform. Wishing you a wonderful week.

Much love to you, Nicole ♥ xx

Day 5 – Gratitude Challenge

Image from revroher.blogspot.com

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.

~ Buddha

So here we are at Day 5 of our 30 Day Gratitude Challenge.  Pull up a seat.  Let me give you a hug and make you a cup of tea. I just want to encourage you, and to remind you that you’re doing so well.

Have you encountered any resistance yet?  Have there been any moments where it’s been hard to muster your enthusiasm, or when finding five things to be grateful for, and really feeling that gratitude in your heart, has been an effort?

If you’re answer is no, then hooray for you – being in flow is a wonderful thing! But don’t be discouraged if you have already encountered some of this energy. And don’t be despondent if it visits you in the next days of our challenge.  Not every day will be sunshine, puppies and lollipops. And it’s precisely on those harder days, and flatter days, that we need gratitude the most.

Image from cakalusa.xanga.com

When you wake to find that an attitude of gratitude isn’t coming easily, or where you’re struggling to rouse any positive emotions, then I suggest you start with counting much smaller Blessings.

Start with safe Blessings that don’t lead you back to where you’ve been. Don’t look to areas in your life that are charged with negative associations.  Do all you can to be in this very moment – do all you can to be here right now.  For example, be grateful for the taste of a cup of tea, the smell of your favourite soap, or the sound of birdsong at your window in the morning.

When gratitude is difficult, understand that you are seeing your BRAIN conforming to its habitual patterns that create depressive or negative thinking, and that is why you need to keep going with this – so that you can retrain it to know how to feel good naturally and to look for more of those feel-good emotions and thought patterns.

Really work to live in the moment, with things you can be grateful for right now, and don’t overthink it. Don’t worry if you don’t get a raging ball of happiness in your heart every day. Just surrender and trust the process. I promise that it works.

So now let’s start our day with the activities that form the foundation of our 30 Day Gratitude Challenge:

Part One – Count Our Blessings and Use our Gratitude Rock

If you need a detailed reminder of the process, you can review it here in Day 1 of the Gratitude Challenge.

  1. List five Blessings in your journal, explaining why you are grateful for each one.
  2. Count your Blessings off on your fingers, summoning positive emotion and saying Thank You from your heart for each one.
  3. Tonight before you go to sleep, hold your Gratitude Rock and affirm I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life. Visualise one thing you have been grateful for today. Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe, then imagine a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.
  4. Still holding your Gratitude Rock, bless your fellow travellers on this Gratitude Journey by sending them golden light, and saying Thank you.  I Bless You.  I intend for you Love, Miracles and Abundance. Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Place your rock back beside your bed, and go to sleep, cocooned in this good energy.

If all you do each day is these first four steps, know that is enough.

If you feel especially flat, then carry your Gratitude Rock with you, or lie/sit in bed at the start or end of the day, and hold it over your heart so that its energy can recharge you.

If you have an abundance of gratitude and feel-good energy, send some extra to your fellow travellers on this journey, with the intent to uplift those who need it.

Your Gratitude Rock can recharge your heart, and fill you with energy.

Are you ready for more of a challenge?  Today we are going to practice gratitude for the simple things.

It’s the simple things in life…

When I have talked to loved ones at the end of their lives, when I have held their hands and waited with them in those final days, it has always been the simple things that they have summoned forth in their memories – the little things that have given happiness or comfort or meaning somehow.

Image from annmichelesworld.blogpsot.com

A husband who always got the toothbrush ready with just the right amount of toothpaste for his wife whose eyesight had failed her.

A mother’s mashed potatoes – no one else’s ever tasted as good.

The smell of clean sheets.

The lovable way a dog’s teeth always snaggled its bottom lip into a toothy grin.

Coffee from your favourite cafe.

The exquisite perfume of a fresh gardenia or jonquil.

Sunshine.

Diving into the ocean, or surfing the perfect wave.

Hearing your favourite song on the radio.

The joy of paint on a brush, or a completed crossword.

Today, spend a minute or two and really savour one of life’s simple pleasures. When you are done, build up that energy in your heart and say Thank You to the Universe, which provides you with an abundance of little things that make your journey more memorable, more comfortable, more colourful.

If you remember a simple pleasure from your past that you haven’t included in your life for a while, then maybe make the effort to reconnect with that thing, or treat yourself to a whole new positive memory.

Life is for living, and happiness is in the moment.  Bless ♥

Releasing Limitations through Journalling

Image from foodinthenude.com.au

Can it really be that simple?

Can you really write, and in that act of writing, let go of what is holding you back?

Yes.

The beauty of this exercise is that often we don’t KNOW what is holding us back – all we know is we’re not getting there…

By writing about what comes up for you around the following images, you’ll begin to tap into those subconscious and unconscious blocks and programs that no longer serve you. Once we know what they are, we can begin to work on changing them!

Choose an area where you would like to have greater results or flow, and then just pick a journal starter and allow yourself to write whatever comes to mind…

A Magical Way to Attract More of What You Want!

Fairy Godmother by Ingvard The Terrible

Last week I shared a simple but powerful journal exercise with you, designed to help you get clarity about what you REALLY want in life. If you didn’t read it, or need to refresh your memory, here’s the link:  Getting to the Heart of things

All you needed to do was to write an answer to a simple question, and then do this again over a period of days.  That simple question was What do I want?

Today I’m going to show you how to begin attracting what you want, through another simple technique can change your whole world.

Isn’t this gorgeous! Heart Shaped Map, 1536, by Oronce – 1494-1555

This week I want you to use your answers to last week’s million dollar question, and rephrase your words so that you are affirming that you now have these things.

If you wrote five days of What do I want? you will now have five days of I now have… to write.

Affirming these things as already being a part of your life creates a magical and magnetic attraction.

Does it work?

You bet it does!

In the spirit of sharing, I’ll show you an example chosen at random from my 2008 diary.  You’ll see that it is focused on the petty day-to-day stuff of my life at that time. That’s how it should be! Back then I was very ill, bedridden most of the time, unable to travel due to poor health, and unable to even walk up stairs without getting breathless.  I had a partially finished manuscript but I really didn’t know if I would ever finish a book, or if it would be any good.  Money was tight.  I had no clothes that fit me, but luckily I was infrequently invited anywhere, so the limited wardrobe wasn’t an issue. The neighbours had a dog that was driving me mad with his incessant yapping.  It’s fair to say life was challenging, and I couldn’t see a way to change it.

What do I want?  Monday April 21 2008 Brisbane

What do I want? I want to be really fit and to be able to walk endlessly even if it is up or downhill or in difficult terrain.  I want to have a life that is full of travel and adventure.  To achieve this I need to have good health.  I want to be able to easily make good choices about what I eat, how I exercise, and what sort of lifestyle I choose.  I choose health.

What do I want? I want a life of passive income that gives me time to be a part-time writer and psychic, and a part-time adventurer of other lands and cultures and even of my lands and cultures.  I want another dog who is well behaved like his brother Charlie and who does not bark needlessly.  I want to have good friends who invite me places and I want to be able to be a good friend to them.

I want to be able to write wonderful books that mean something to people and that are well written.  Really good books, not just successful books.  I want to have a wardrobe of adventure clothes and outdoor clothes and ball-gowns and town clothes and things for every occasion.

I want to pay off my credit cards in full each month and each month be investing in houses or shares or other interests that pay dividends and create capital growth.  I want to keep giving to charity and helping others.  I want to have good posture.

Here’s what I wrote as my What I now Have…  You write this by using your initial answers and affirming, with joy and gratitude that you now have these things in your life. If you feel uncomfortable as you write any of this, pay attention to those feelings and them bless them and release them – you no longer need to be in resistance to attracting good into your life. And don’t worry about HOW you’re going to attract these. That’s the Universe’s job!

What I now have  Monday April 28, 2008, The Farm

I am so happy and grateful that I am now really fit and able to walk endlessly up or downhill or in difficult terrain.  I have a life that is full of travel and adventure.  I enjoy good health.  I easily make good choices about what I eat, how I exercise, and what sort of lifestyle I choose.  I choose health.

I have a wonderful life of passive income.  I am a part-time writer and psychic, and a part-time adventurer of other lands and cultures and even of my lands and cultures.  I have a beautiful new dog who is well behaved like his brother Charlie and is quiet and obedient.  My good friends invite me places and I am a good friend to them.

I write wonderful books that mean something to people and that are well written.  Really good books, not just successful books. I have a wardrobe of adventure clothes and outdoor clothes and ball-gowns and town clothes and things for every occasion.

I happily pay off my credit cards in full each month and each month I now invest in houses or shares or other interests that pay dividends and create capital growth.  I enjoy giving to charity and helping others.  I have excellent posture.

This was an interesting exercise for me this morning, as I almost never go back and review my old journals.  So now it’s July 9, 2012.  What has really changed for me?

Here’s the view from my hotel in Gubbio, Italy, 2010!

I have vastly improved health, and can walk miles.  I have had two overseas trips, and have two more planned and booked. I’m choosing health and have things in place that support this choice.

I have the beginnings of passive income streams, and more strands to come. I pay my credit cards off each month, and have investments. I only work part-time, at writing and at psychic work, and I have a beautiful dog Bert who is a brother to Charlie.

I have three completed manuscripts, one currently under review with a publisher after being accepted for the QWC Hachette Manuscript Development Program in 2011, and two more new manuscripts underway. My wardrobe has a range of new clothes and I plan to get some made when I am in Thailand later this year.

I had a fund-raising high tea only yesterday, and I can happily say that I have some wonderful friends, and can contribute to charities in ways that are very meaningful to me.

Did I do any of this with a conscious plan, carefully thought out and enacted?

No.

I just did this exercise.

Works pretty well, don’t you think?

Here’s a photo one of my beautiful friends took from our High Tea yesterday, where we raised money to support a young man’s education and to feed and house his family while he is at University.

Writing Ourselves into Awareness

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
― C.G. Jung

Sometimes we get so confused.  We run this way and that way – searching for the thing, the answer, the lover, the teacher…

We forget to trust ourselves.  We forget to ask ourselves. We are so busy running and searching that we don’t stand still long enough to catch our breath and look inside.

Today, we are going to take that time. We are going to gift ourselves twenty minutes of  self-exploration, in the form of journalling. If possible, take a ten minute walk before you begin. (If you are unwell, or unable to go outside, take ten minutes and watch the video at the bottom of this page. It will help put you in that same energetic space of relaxation and connection.)

Then make yourself a nice cup of tea, or take yourself out to a coffee shop. (Maybe you could walk there!) With a beverage at your elbow, and a notebook and pen in hand, work through the following activity. You might surprise yourself at what you discover.

Journal Exercise:

Start by writing this passage at the top of your page.

Dear Universe,

I trust that there is a part of me that already knows what I want most in this lifetime. I also trust that there is a Universal Wisdom that recognises my gifts and talents, and that understands what outcomes and adventures are best for my Highest good.

I am ready to embrace the possibility of a better life for myself.  I am ready to move from struggle into flow.  I am ready to embrace abundance, in all its forms. I want you to know that I’m ready for whatever wonderful experiences and opportunities you send my way. I am ready for my Soul to show me my heart’s true desire…

Now choose any of the following journal starters, and use it to begin writing.  Don’t judge what comes next, and don’t over-think it.  Just trust that what you write will begin to create a greater sense of personal and spiritual awareness in your life.

NB: If you feel that you are walking a path of spiritual awakening right now, and you’d like to explore that further, I suggest you do this exercise while holding one of the following crystals:

  • Clear Quartz – for connecting with Guides and Higher Wisdom
  • Fluorite – for understanding your creative path, and for clear guidance with writing
  • Sodalite – for answers about relationships and knowing your own truth
  • Amethyst – for connecting into your spiritual gifts
  • Rhyolite – for channelled wisdoms – showing you that inner truth you find difficult to access on your own

  • When I am relaxed, and feeling good about life, it becomes clear to me that the most meaningful direction for me right now is
  • If I was to remove myself from the things that cause anxiety in my life, and then sit quietly and listen to my body, I’d become aware that
  • I take a few calming breaths and close my eyes. Then I sit in the silent presence of my wise inner being. When I open my eyes again I understand that
  • If I could do anything, go anywhere, be anyone, then my heart is leading me to
  • When I am calm, and I take time to reconnect, I feel that
  • If my wise self could tell my weary and confused brain one thing, it would be this:
  • If God, my Angels or my Guides had a message for me, and I could finally hear it, it would be
The path to Awareness requires that we make the time to know ourselves.  And journalling creates a sacred space where we can do that, opening the way for a meaningful dialogue with our inner being. These questions can be used once, or you can return to them again and again to discover more about yourself.
Bless ♥ xx

Seven Gifts from Your Wise Self to You

Image from keithabraham.com

Who doesn’t love a gift?  One of my favourite realisations around journalling was that your wise self can present your conscious (and sometimes very confused or narrow-thinking) mind with all manner of gifts – through the form of realisations, guidance and new ideas.

Today we’re going to explore some of the treasure that is locked away inside you.  You might be helped by your subconscious, your inner child, your higher self, or divine guidance.  But no matter where that help comes from, trust that sometimes, with just a simple pen and paper, you really can map out a new future for yourself; one with clearer direction, that is more fulfilling and that better uses your talents and gifts.

Journal Exercise:

Start by writing this at the beginning of your page:

I trust that within me are the answers I need.  Within my heart lies a map to guide me along life’s many roads.  I am open to answers.  I expect to find solutions.  I am ready to change. Miracles happen every day. New ideas can come to anyone. I am open to receiving my truth. I am excited by the possibilities within my reach.

Now use any of the prompts below, to begin unwrapping these gifts from yourself to you.  Pick any one journal prompt that appeals to you (or repels your) from beside each image of a gift.  That way you’ll get seven answers.  Don’t expect to ‘know’ these answers.  Just start writing and see what happens…

Gift One:

  • One of the best ways for me to feel grounded is to
  • The easiest change I can make around my financial situation is
  • One person I really need to say to no to is
  • A tiny, achievable little business idea I could do part-time from home, and that would really suit me well is

Gift Two:

  • Music that always makes me feel good includes
  • The most satisfying way for me to spend spare time in a creative way right now would be
  • What my body most needs right now to feel healthy and energised is
  • If I was to work with one creative idea right now. the one most suited to my own talents and abilities, I would
  • I’d forgotten, but one of the things that best expresses me, and that I don’t do any more is
Gift Three:

  • The area I need to pay attention to, so I can get my stress under control would have to be
  • Some of the best chores and responsibilities for me to delegate include
  • If there is one thing I want to achieve, it is
  • The thing that would make me feel better about myself within the next six months would be
Gift Four:

  • Deep in my heart, I know that
  • Given a chance, I could shine at
  • If I was to put my energy towards one thing it needs to be
  • I am happiest when
  • If I was to leave a legacy, I would like it to be
Gift Five:

  • A terrific hobby for me would be
  • It’s a huge project, but if I start in this small corner over here, I could definitely
  • The things that most nurture and fill me up are
  • My deepest ambition is to
  • If I let go of
  • The thing I most want to share with the world is

Gift Six:

  • Once, I was shown
  • My inner guidance is pointing towards
  • This keeps coming up for me, that I need to
  • Every time I do this, I could keep doing it forever. I feel so positive and excited every time I begin to

Gift Seven:

  • In ten years time, when I look back, I want to be able to say
  • I keep forgetting how much I love to
  • In a perfect world I would be
  • My deepest, most carefully held wish is that
  • I try to hide from myself the fact that
  • If I had some good advice for me right now, that would help me get back on track, it is

And for a final piece of believe-in-yourself-and-your-dreams wisdom, watch this…

Get yourself an ugly journal…

I have a special journalling quest for you today.  Are you up to the challenge?

Get yourself an ugly journal. A cheap one. One you can never feel fond of.

Trust me, you do not want to get a pretty journal for what we are about to do…

Today we are going to create a ‘Sh*t Book’, a ‘Poo Book’, a Craptastic Account of all that is truly suckful, petty and awful in our lives.

We are going to make a journal that will act like a giant word-thought-and-emotion toilet: a dumping ground for all the toxic waste that we need to get out, in order to start feeling better.

I love journalling. And most of what I write is positive, creative and exploratory. It’s the sort of writing I actually want to go back and read over when I’m done. (See examples of how to do that here!)  Even years later I can go back to those finished books and take inspiration and guidance from their pages.  Rainbows, butterflies, and all that wonderful stuff that dreams are made of…

But sometimes… you know how it is.  Life makes you mad.  You wake up with a great knot of pain or resentment or frustration. Or you get that mean pettiness, where everything is going to come out as a whine or a complaint.

That sort of thinking is no good to anyone. It’s like garbage. It just needs to be dumped before it pollutes the rest of you and spills over into your day.

Sometimes the toxic waste in your mind pollutes what would otherwise be a charming place to be – Photograph by Peter Cade, Getty Images

But we don’t want to go dumping that stinking thinking in the middle of our rainbows and butterflies! We need to dump responsibly.

That’s why we are going to create a special book just for rubbish thinking. We can happily write away in our ‘Sh*t Book’, recording every last detail of the sheer crappiness and horror, the drudgery and outrage, the blow by blow accounts of the things that depress us, upset us, tick us off, push us into ugliness.

You can even paint, sketch, collage and otherwise create. The thing that matters is finding a way to express the pain, hurt or other negativity within you.

Journal Activity:

Find your ugly journal. You can even make an ugly cover for it if you want. Use all those awful toilet colours – browns and blacks and nasty greens. Make it a worthy dumping ground for your terrible thoughts.

Then use any of the following prompts to get you started. Don’t worry about sentence construction, spelling or even what you say.  This is a dump, remember? So just follow the prompts and let it flow. Mind you, if you’ve already in that cranky space you might not need any prompting at all to get it off your chest…

  • I couldn’t be more angry about…
  • It is totally miserable that…
  • I can’t believe that he/she could…
  • The feeling eating a hole in me right now is because of…
  • If I’d had my way I would have told __________ that…
  • It’s Dumb! It’s so dumb that…
  • I hate…
  • Just the thought of ________ right now makes me…
  • Grrrrrr! The thing about all of this is that….
  • Hey! Let me tell you what I REALLY think…
  • I have never felt more __________  since…
  • It’s just not fair that…
  • I could scream right now because…
  • All I want to do is cry. I’m at the end of my rope and…
  • Here is a list of EVERYTHING that is pissing me off right now…
  • This is totally (insert favourite expletive or explanatory term). I had wanted to…
  • And yet again, cue drumroll, I am…
  • I feel like I’m never going to be able to…
  • It’s the same old thing –

There is only one rule with your ‘Sh*t Book’.  Don’t read back over it, and don’t share it with anyone. Ever. No-one can play in toxic wastegrounds safely.  You just get in, dump and get back out of there again as fast as you can.

You can choose to handle your ‘Sh*t Book’ in one of two ways. At the end of each writing session, rip out the used pages and burn them, shred them or in other happy ways destroy them. OR wait until you have filled the entire book and then destroy it.  Bury, burn, slash, mutilate, flush, dump, explode… Whatever works for you. You may also like the symbolism of binding your book with a cord or big bulldog clips to help keep everything safe until you can dispose of it responsibly.

Art Journal Techniques:

Sometimes it’s easier to draw or paint, to rip and glue rather than to risk words.  Sometimes when you can’t even find the words, art can help you make a new language for healing.

I love this next clip! I was looking for something to explain art journalling to you, and this started out so well, because it’s about making messy art – ugly art even. Perfect for your ‘Sh*t Book’!

But you know how the Universe works.  There is something redemptive about clearing out the trash.  It always makes room for something new and brighter.

I was laughing by the end of this youtube how-to, because after the ugly start, she ended up painting…

Yep, you guessed it…

rainbows and butterflies…

Sending you lots and lots of love for the journey. Enjoy that ugly journal! ♥♥♥ xx
