Energies of May 2019

“ Girls you’ve gotta know when it’s time to turn the page. ” ~ Tori Amos

Hello, Lovelies!

At the beginning of every month, I discuss the energies and gifts of the month ahead and how we can best use them to make our lives satisfying, meaningful and productive. I also choose a card to support the energies of the month. The deck I am using this year is The Good Tarot by Colette Baron-Reid, and May’s card is Chariot.

May is such a breakthrough month – it’s a time for positive progress, big leaps forward and fine-tuning of your self-awareness. Use experts and wise people to help you move past stuckness and overwhelm, and find your balance between sustainability and momentum. Expect your own wisdom to grow too this month!

May is a month where you can begin to find that balance between sustainability and momentum. It’s a month for positive progress and big leaps forward. It’s a month for successes and sweet victories.

This month you are in a position to help yourself and help others too.  You have the power to keep creating change, so use your position wisely.

Even as you progress forward this month keep asking yourself what’s not working, where are you still unhappy, what are you missing? You are fine-tuning your awareness this month and developing a much deeper understanding of what matters to you. Your wisdom and compassion are growing.

May is a terrific energy for making deals, for positive outcomes, for all forms of negotiation, for progress and offers.  It’s also a good time for buying and selling well.

Your hard work is starting to pay off.  When you purchase anything favour quality over cheap. You’re better off to have one beautiful expensive item than many cheap things you’re not so fond of.

This month see everything as necessary for your growth. You’ll gain deeper insights into relationships and work situations and develop emotional maturity around dealing with difficult situations and people.

May supports you to get help with the big issues – think doctors,  lawyers, tax accountants, business advisors, and anyone else who brings wisdom and experience to your problems.  In areas where you’ve been stuck or overwhelmed this will be your best way forward.

On a more global level, you’ll see that united voices and the power of the people have the capacity to bring about real change.

Best crystals this month?

Pyrite and Dalmation Jasper

Pyrite provides passion, power and protection. It builds determination and self-belief.

Dalmatian Jasper helps you move forward, living in mindfulness. It releases stress and amplifies joy.

Essential oils to support your journey?

Grapefruit essential oil will promote optimism this month, helping you to be both decisive and positive. It’s a super choice if you’re feeling a bit flat or blue. It’s a great blend for your diffuser if you combine it with Frankincense, Geranium and Palmarosa. Use 2 to 3 drops of each oil in your blend.

Frankincense amplifies your true nature, connects your heart and mind and brings intuitive awareness. It also centres you in your personal power.

Palmarosa stabilises your emotions and rejuvenates you when you are feeling tired or emotionally battered and bruised. It’s gentle nature will help recenter you when you’ve lost your way.

Geranium is brilliant for helping you relax, unwind and get connected to your creative and intuitive essence. It will uplift you and stimulate creativity, self-confidence and emotional flow – all energies that are great for shifting you into a more positive space. If you’re an over-giver and your tank is dry, Geranium oil will fill you back up again. Apply it to your pulse points at wrist, neck and over heart like a perfume. Place a few drops in your bath water. Diffuse it. One of my favourite uses is as a centering and inspiring pick-me-up. Put a drop in the palm of your hand, rub hands together and then inhale the aroma.

I’m passionate about essential oils and their capacity to support our wellness journey and our spiritual and emotional wellbeing. If you’d like to know more or want to source the oils I recommend and trust visit this site or contact me at channelnc@gmail.com

Crazy, Beautiful, Sustainable Madness

“There is no such thing as work-life balance. Everything worth fighting for unbalances your life.”
~ Alain de Botton

It’s a crazy time of year for me. As the end of year/beginning of the new year always is, in my line of work.

I have a retreat coming up in less than two weeks. Followed by workshops in Brisbane, my Christmas Pop-Up Shop, and the launch of my brilliant new secret project.

I have a calendar filled with client appointments for psychic readings.

My inboxes are groaning with messages and requests from people in crisis. I have family members ill, and friends.

I’ve been up in the middle of the night skyping and facebooking with international clients who have been affected by recent world events. Or by big life things. There are a lot of big life things going on just now, haven’t you noticed?

My desk (ahem, kitchen table at farm…) looks like this. (See photo above of crystals and mugs of tea, and oracle cards and magnesium powder and diarised magic into the next year.) That’s the tidiest side. The other is filled with groaning paper and book towers as I research and finish my project.

And Christmas is just around the corner.

Sounds insane, huh?

But I don’t do insane anymore. I do sustainable madness.

Sustainable madness looks like this:

2015-11-18 06.41.51

And this:

2015-11-05 18.39.55

And this:

2014-06-06 09.04.03

And this:

2015-11-04 07.57.44

It means that in the middle of the crazy I have acupuncture treatments and farmers markets and nutritious meals and cafe mornings and walks on the beach and stupidly early nights where I am in bed by 7pm.

I burn incense and aromatherapy essential oils. I play mood music. I drink good tea, and have lots of stretch breaks. I eat tasty healthy snacks. I let myself enjoy the buzz of crazy, and this push to get all the things done. It’s exciting. It makes me feel alive.

When you live a life doing what you love, when you’re following your passions, sometimes that means you’ll need to put extra hours in. Or you’ll need to say no to some stuff, momentarily, while you meet a crazy deadline, or chew madly on that impossibly big mouthful of life you bit off.

But that’s okay. If you also leave a little room for the important things that fill you up. The things that stop you burning out. The things that nurture and support you.

I am taking nearly a month off early next year, so there’s that big delicious rest to look forward to as well.

How about you? Are you doing crazy now too? And is your crazy sustainable, and even kind of fun?

I’m really looking forward to sharing my formula for crazy, beautiful, sustainable madness, and helping you to find your own recipe for this inspirational, get-things-done space. Don’t let people tell you that you need work-life balance and for every day to look the same. Sometimes our balance is chunks of happy madness, followed by chunks of rest. That works just fine for me and I bet it will help you too!

Lots of love, Nicole <3 xoxo

Sometimes you get there faster by going slow

“If you’re having difficulty coming up with new ideas, then slow down. For me, slowing down has been a tremendous source of creativity. It has allowed me to open up — to know that there’s life under the earth and that I have to let it come through me in a new way. Creativity exists in the present moment. You can’t find it anywhere else.” ~ Natalie Goldberg

One of the worst diseases I suffer from is impatience. Especially in regard to my health. I’ve had so many years of being sub-optimal that any time I have the smallest amount of extra energy I want to race around like a mad thing so I don’t miss out on making the most of feeling good. But experience has taught me something very valuable. You get there faster by going slow. Not only that, but you arrive with more juice left in the tank.

Slow is good for ideas.  Slow is all about stopping, unwinding, relaxing, getting back into flow. All of these make more sense for connecting into inspiration and inner wisdom than that rush-rush energy we tell ourselves will get things done.

Slow is good for health.  When we go slow we de-stress, we can catch up on sleep, sunshine and seasons. Slow makes better sense for weight loss, for healing, for any kind of transformation. Yes it takes longer, but the results are usually much more lasting.

Slow is good for relationships too.  Slow allows us to have time together, to create depth in relationships. Slow helps us to be ok with the spaces as we lose the need to fill every moment with busy-ness. It’s in the spaces that the magic often happens.

Slow is good for the soul; for spiritual connection, reflection, for listening and receiving. We finally get to hear our own heartbeat, and the heartbeat of the earth. We get to hear the stardust and the windsong of the heavens.

Slow can be a choice. Slow can be forced upon us. However we arrive at it, once we stop fighting it, slowness is a gift that allows us to live in the moment.

There’s nothing wrong with speed. Who doesn’t love the wind in their hair, that sudden rush of adrenalin, the crazy thrill of momentum?

But we weren’t built to go that fast all the time. When we convince ourselves that this furious never-have-enough-time, squeeze something productive into every last moment, lifestyle is sustainable, we always end up as Broken Robots.

How can you make a pocket of slow in your current bubble of craziness? I know slow won’t feel natural if you’ve been racing through life like some sort of human targeted-missile. And sometimes we need to respond to life with speed. But if all you’re doing is busy, you know it’s going to catch up with you in the end, and then the Universe might just tip you into slow by a mechanism not of your own choosing.

When you first allow the energy of slow into your life, a couple of things can happen.  You might panic. The weight of overwhelm that we avoided by running to stay ahead of things might come crashing down. Yes, that sucks.  But ultimately its also good to recognise how insane life has become and how much you need to simplify and let go of this level of complexity and constant demand.

tired

You might grind to a halt altogether.  So many of my students, when I take them away on retreats to learn to meditate or channel, fall asleep, or zone out and can’t remember what I was talking about when we go into those quiet, reflective or meditative spaces. Their bodies need rest first – before anything else can happen.  Rest and sleep are critical functions that we’ve somehow told ourselves are okay to short-cut. When we slow down, usually one of the first things we need to do is top the sleep tank back up.

Something else kind of weird happens when we give ourselves permission to slow down.  As our batteries charge back up, as we get to a place of equilibrium, we find we have MORE energy, and we get more done, better, in less time.  Going slow actually restores productivity – in a lasting and sustainable way.

So, if going fast isn’t working for you, try slow. It’ll get you there in the end. In one piece and able to enjoy the journey as well as the destination. Bless xx
