Energies of August – 2018

“Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all is a form of planning.”
~ Gloria Steinem

Hello, Lovelies :)

August is here, bringing a delicious basket of delights. It’s a month for creativity in all forms and for getting back into the flow of life again. You’ll find a lift in your mood and a clear road ahead so get ready to make the most of the opportunities all around you.

Cards for the Month:

I’ve chosen two cards for August for you: one from Colette Baron-Reid’s Enchanted Map and one from Steven Farmer’s Earth Magic Oracle. Please note I don’t use these cards in a conventional way, but rather as a stimulus for channeled information.

Here is what I have received from each card:

“You are essentially who you create yourself to be and all that occurs in your life is the result of your own making.”
~  Stephen Richards

Could there be a bigger month for creative energies in 2018? I don’t think so! In August
we step into a virtual river of inspiration and ideas. Opportunities and synchronicities
appear out of thin air. Stuckness dissolves and we are able to take huge leaps forward
with ease and grace.

We’re empowered to make decisions and to instigate great change this month.

We feel comfortable to be in a position of authority in our own lives, and our intuition shows us solutions to problems that have puzzled us for months or even years.

Suddenly the answers are obvious and the timing is right.

The second card I’ve chosen is Spring Equinox.

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
~Maya Angelou

It’s a wonderful month for taking lessons in anything to do with the arts, languages or
practical creativity – such as cooking or pottery.

We’ll find talents we weren’t even aware of and our intuition will guide us towards satisfying new hobbies and interests.

For some people they will find the creative, social or business idea that will be their
legacy. For others it will be time to step into the role of wizard, teacher or mentor within
their community, or to create a community where none exists.

It’s a month for creativity, spirituality, mysticism, shamanism, profound thinking and
revelation, gifted and channelled wisdom and insights and all kinds of deeper psychic
connection and inner journeying work.

Best crystals this month?

Carnelian and Ruby Zoisite

Carnelian improves physical energy, detoxifies the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies, and helps to boost and rebalance hormones and digestion. It also dispels self-doubt and negativity, strengthening self-esteem, confidence and creativity.

Ruby Zoisite is a stone of transformation, helping you to be empowered in your life. It elevates your confidence and authority and improves fertility, imagination and innovation.

Essential oils to support your journey?

Young Living’s Believe blend is my choice for August. Containing Ylang-Ylang, Idaho Blasalm Fir, Frankincense, Geranium, Idaho Blue Spruce, Coriander, and Bergamot it has a fresh, uplifting aroma and I find it very grounding and centering. I love this oil for helping me get into a space of self-belief, empowerment and flow. And gee it gets the creative juices flowing! When I am planning my life, visualising my future or working on a project that is important to me Believe is my go-to oil. Usage: A drop over your heart and on your wrists as a perfume and/or on crown of head, back of neck and behind ears work well. So does diffusing the oil. It’s instantly grounding and connecting, and it brings a sense of peace, certainty and confidence.

Want to make your own blend? Each of the following oils will work beautifully on their own but they’ll also make a great combination for diffusing. Bergamot is uplifting, busts stress and helps us overcome self-doubt. Frankincense elevates our mood and promotes spiritual connection and intuition, Ylang-Ylang opens our hearts and minds,  and it helps us to feel deserving and open to abundance, Spruce is a deeply spiritual oil – holding the wisdom of the forest it links our lefts and right brain bringing balance, calm and centering.  To diffuse add 2 or three drops of each oil to your room or personal diffuser. You can find the oils here.

Wishing you a love-filled, satisfying and wonder-full August.

A Reminder About The Energies of 2018

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I was talking to one of my students yesterday, who told me she was giving up on a project. ‘I’ve pushed and pushed and pushed’ she said, ‘and it’s going nowhere. I’m killing myself for this project, and I’d rather be home digging in the garden or looking after my kids. I’ll wait for the next idea, but right now I’m too tired to even think.’

After which she told me that she felt like a failure.

I reminded her that her actions were absolutely aligned with 2018’s energies, and that she was making the right choice. I thought you might need a reminder about these energies too.

The Sun is our guiding card for 2018. It’s a heart-centred year. A year for connection and inclusion. It’s a fine year for all forms of creativity, fertility and innovation. A great year for healing old hurts, mending fences and rebuilding relationships. It’s also a year where you’ll clearly see where to walk away and put your energies to situations and relationships that are more suitable for you, and where to end situations and relationships that are no longer working.

The Sun shows us that this year we’re supported to spend time in acts of creativity and innovation. Ideas will flow. Things will come together. Making money, making art, connecting in love, original ideas and projects – all of these things will become easier – but we can’t push to make them happen. Better to get the framework down or explore the ideas this year, better to get things set up so 2019 won’t be a standing start. This isn’t a year for making huge forward progress in business – it’s a year for opening and closing doors, for innovating and exploring, for healing and for recovery.

2018 is also a year for socialising, for celebrating and for connecting with family and friends. Relationships – with yourself, with others, with your work – that’s what matters this year.

The energies of 2018 are strong and flow to us as vitality, vision and enthusiasm. We will gravitate towards teamwork, mutual decisions and being part of something bigger. There will be an urge within us to heal rifts and to co-operate in solving problems. It’s also a fabulous year for physical and emotional healing.

If there are problems to address or healing to be done this will take priority over everything else. Go back and read that again. In fact, let me repeat it: If there are problems to address or healing to be done this will take priority over everything else.

This is a year for groundwork, repair and restoration, for beginnings and foundations. In 2018 we’re encouraged to live with a bigger vision for ourselves and the planet. This year supports all kinds of innovative and creative work, and is a time where many useful new ideas and projects will be birthed into the world.

The Sun’s energy is strongly aligned with our Solar Plexus Chakra – our centre of Self. Our solar plexus is the beautiful bright yellow chakra that sits around the navel, and this chakra is all about our identity and sense of self, our individuality and self-sovereignty. It’s time to be more true to ourselves. We need to shine our Light in the world by being who we came here to be.

After years on a path of struggle and feeling alone in the world, 2018 opens out onto a kinder energy where we can finally begin to feel like we belong or create a world where we can. But we might have work to do here in knowing ourselves and finding our voice and direction.

Don’t waste your year on hard work and striving unless that is absolutely the thing that lights you up, and even then make sure there is ample time to smell the roses.

Most importantly, rest when you can. 2019 will be one of those years that rockets us along. So rest, repair, relax and get ready in 2018 – this is a quieter, more relationship-focused year for a reason. Don’t beat yourself up if your life has been more about people than ‘progress’. That’s what this year encompasses.

Biggest supportive hugs to you, Nicole ❤ xx

It’s The Weekend. I Have A Project For You!

“I live to enjoy life by the littlest things, feeling the grass between my toes, breathing fresh air, watching the wind sway the trees, enjoying the company of loved ones, a deep conversation, getting lost in a good book, going for a walk in nature, watching my kids grow up. Just the feeling itself of being alive, the absolute amazing fact that we are here right now, breathing, thinking, doing.”
Marigold Wellington

2018 is a year that supports spending time on what matters – family, friendship, fun, and the priorities and projects dear to our hearts. It’s year to be creative, to kick back and enjoy ourselves, to slow down a little.

But all of this behaviour can be so very hard to embrace when we have been used to work, work, work, stress, stress, stress, busy, busy, busy.

So this weekend I have a project for you, even if you do have work scheduled! See how many of these you can tick off your list by Sunday night:

  1. Sitting with a cuppa or your favourite beverage and taking ten minutes to enjoy every sip and the peacefulness that comes with stopping for a while.
  2. Time in nature – a walk outside to look at the sky counts too!
  3. A relaxing shower or soak in the bath where you take time to enjoy the experience of the water and how it soothes you.
  4. Time with a beloved person or pet where you put everything else aside and just be there for them and with them. Phone calls and video calls count too!
  5. A fragrant treat – scent is a fast-track to happy memories, and to a place that is innovative and creative and upbeat within us. How can you connect to that? Maybe it’s a few drops of essential oil, or your favourite perfume or cologne, a fragrant soap or body lotion, a bunch of flowers, the scent of baking or a good coffee, the ocean or clean clothes fresh from the line still smelling of sunshine.
  6. A nourishing meal, eaten slowly and savoured, as you feel how it is doing you and your body good.
  7. A nap, a rest, or some quiet time to refresh you and recharge your batteries. I find books to be a wonderful downtime tool when I can’t get my mind quiet. Music is good for that too.
  8. Social time – this could be a drink or meal with friends or family, time at the movies or a shopping mall or anywhere you like to hang out with other people. Don’t know anyone? Smile or say hello to people anyway.
  9. Time on a project that is important to you. Even ten minutes counts. Just make them quality minutes by putting away your phone and other distractions.
  10. Some time where you do nothing at all, or anything you want and don’t feel guilty about that being wasted time.

Life is precious, sweet and over all too soon – especially if we have lived our entire lives busy and distracted. Slow down this weekend and make some little pockets of time for you and time for what truly matters.

Biggest love and hugs, Nicole xoxo

Monday Oracle – 22 January 2018

“One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. – Friedrich Nietzsche

Hello, Lovelies!

January is a month for easing ourselves into the energies of 2018, for resting and recharging, for planning and dreaming and for tuning in to what can support us in the year ahead. Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts of awareness which the oracle card 4 of Hearts brings us.

Hot on the heels of the New Moon in Capricorn, which encouraged and inspired us to look to our future and what we are willing to commit to in order to make those dreams manifest, 4 of Hearts brings the awareness this week that some of our cherished dreams need to be let go, because in our hearts we are not committed to making them happen. We’re not ever going to put in the work required, or we are no longer in synch with this old dream or ideal. Hanging on to the old dream stops us from being able to evolve and grow towards something more suited to our highest good.

4 of Hearts reminds us that when we let go of the old we make room for something new to come our way. It’s okay to grieve broken and lost dreams this week, but once your tears are dry and you’ve felt and acknowledged your emotions expect a new surge of inspiration and direction to find you in the days and weeks ahead.

This week you may also feel exhausted and like you can’t possibly go on – that things will never change, and you will never get the outcome you desire. In the old energy of years past we struggled on our own. In this new 2018 energy of connection and community know that there will be help from outside your own efforts. Friends will turn up. Helpful people will appear. New information will become available. Expect a turnaround, a breakthrough, a renewal of hope this week. And know that for some you, this week is about you becoming that hope and guidance for others!

Supportive crystals this week?

Any double-terminated crystal or cluster of crystals from the quartz family (think clear quartz, smoky, amethyst or citrine) placed in the room where you spend most of your time will amplify your ability to connect to your inner wisdom and to become inspired through new thoughts, imagination and divine guidance.  Selenite (pictured) helps you to be kind to yourself and is fantastic for gently guiding you inwards. Red Jasper is a stone for mental, physical and emotional rejuvenation. Deeply grounding, it helps you connect to your heart and your truth and encourages a sense of safety. Green Chrysoprase opens your heart and helps you find the courage to live the life that calls you.

Helpful essential oils?

This week I’m using Young Living’s Inspiration blend. Inspiration helps me to release negative thoughts and emotions, beat procrastination and enhance my spiritual connection. Its fragrance is grounding and uplifting, and I also find that instills me with a quiet optimism. Dab a drop on your Third Eye, back of neck, over your heart, wrists and the soles of your feet, inhale directly or add to your diffuser. It’s also a gorgeous addition to your bath water.

Want to make your own blend? Each of the following oils will work beautifully on their own for you this week, but they’ll also make a great combination for diffusing. Cedarwood is calming, gives a sense of security and helps us overcome self doubt. Ylang Ylang opens our hearts and is supportive when we feel anxious or overwhelmed, Frankincense calms and connects us, promoting emotional balance and Bergamot brings joy, gratitude and optimism.  To diffuse add 2 or three drops of each oil to your room or personal diffuser. You can find the oils here.

PS: Monday’s oracle card, ‘4 of Hearts’, is from the Inner Child Cards – A Fairy-Tale Tarot. I use any cards shown as a prompt for channeled messages and my own own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book.

15 Tips to Fuel Your Creativity

Image from thoibau.today

“Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up.”
~  Pablo Picasso

2018 is a fabulous year for all forms of creativity.

Creativity. NOT productivity.

Go back and read that sentence again if you have to!

Productivity is the act of producing something. The dictionary defines productivity as ‘the effectiveness of productive effort, especially in industry, as measured in terms of the rate of output per unit of input’. Think widgets, or burning through your to-do list. It is often not a joyful task, or one that requires your best work or your best self to turn up. Yes, you can still be productive this year, but that’s not what the energies of 2018 are all about.

Image from hdwall.us

2018 is a fabulous year for all forms of creativity. Creativity is defined as the use of imagination or original ideas to create something. Creativity is a wild beast. It’s a tender young seedling that will grow into a blooming bush or an incredible tree. Creativity is the act of making something that is fuelled by your own life force and shaped by your imagination and heartsong.

After so many years of sitting in ‘productive’ energy, getting back to that wild space of creativity can feel uncomfortable and odd. It can make us anxious if we don’t get an instant result, a perfect first creation or a super-productive outcome. And worse, trying to be ‘productive’ with our creativity makes that flow of imagination and inventiveness slow to a trickle or stop altogether. Remember: once you have your creative outcome you can work from a place of productivity, but not before.

Here are my top ten suggestions for reconnecting to and feeding your creative energy this year:

  1. Listen to music. Range widely and try new styles and genres.
  2. Read books. Libraries and bookshops have a world of inspiration just waiting for you to explore.
  3. Watch movies. Change it up and look at things that are not your usual choices.
  4. Go for long walks in nature. Camping can also be good. Use this as unplugged time and leave your phone and laptop at home or turned off.
  5. Sit in a cafe with a hot or cold beverage. People watch, or write in your journal. Sit in a space of awareness. Use your whole self as an antenna.
  6. Move your body. Dancing is good. Or a yoga class. Surfing or playing with your dog or your kids (or borrow the dog or kids of a friend!). Movement gets you into flow!
  7. Watch a live performance. Or give one.
  8. Visit the local art gallery or museum.
  9. Take a road trip. Go around the corner or around the world. Travel has direct links to the imagination switch in your brain.
  10. Sign up to some kind of creative hands-on course. Try ceramics or drum making, decorative cookies or welding. It doesn’t need to be in the field where you want to shine. Anything that gets you making something with your hands will do. Can’t access a course? Bake something or go dig in the garden and grow things.
  11. Got a project idea? Just start. Work it out as you go. Don’t need it to be perfect or all planned out in advance.
  12. Dedicate some regular time and space for your creative projects. No, this won’t kill creativity. Turning up and creating a routine supports sustainable creative flow.
  13. Let yourself be a beginner.
  14. Try collaborating with others and sharing knowledge and skills.
  15. Enjoy regular down-time. Working and needing to be productive every waking moment leaves no space for new ideas to form or bubble to the surface. Rest and play are your friends this year!

I can’t wait to see what magic you create in 2018, or how living more creatively and playfully helps you heal and re-energise in all kinds of places in your life. Drop me a line and keep me posted!

Much love, Nicole  xx

Monday Oracle – 15 January 2018

“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind. – Henry James

Hello, Lovelies!

January is a month for easing ourselves into the energies of 2018, for resting and recharging, for planning and dreaming and for tuning in to what can support us in the year ahead.

Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts of awareness which the oracle card Little Red Cap brings us.

This week (from January 17) the energies of 2018 finally kick in. Little Red Cap reminds us that we get to choose where we put our focus this year, and that this is a great week for all forms of planning and committing to your goals and dreams.

Did you start this new year full of hope and ready for change, and then it all started to come unstuck in the past few days? As 2017 comes to an end we are getting ripples of old patterns of thought and behaviour coming up for us to recognise so that we can choose differently as we step into 2018.

If you’ve started a new diet for 2018 and already sabotaged it, found yourself back in old patterns of distressing behaviour with family members, negative self-talk or limiting thinking stop and take a deep breath. Recognise old patterns and then choose differently! Forgive yourself and move on without dwelling on mistakes and failures. Think about what it is that you want this year. Think about what you want to create or manifest or share. Choose where to put your focus – choose what lights you up or feels good to you. Put your attention on what you want, rather than on what you don’t want. Deal with issues as they arise but don’t make problems your main priority. Face yourself into the sunshine, hold onto the vision for your journey and keep moving forward. Treat yourself kindly, and treat others with that same kindness too.

Let me give you an example. Imagine you want to make a road trip, but your car has a flat tyre (yes, this is a metaphor for life!).

The old way (pre 2012) was to dwell endlessly on the need to ‘fix yourself’, finding more and more to work on as the first ‘problem’ became healed. We wouldn’t just change the tyre, we’d think about why we created the flat tyre, and what else in our past or our thoughts could have contributed to the flat tyre. We’d also look at all of the flat tyres we’d ever had before. Then we’d look at everything else that was possibly wrong and might need fixing. It was an endless cycle of ‘self-improvement’, and the road trip may well have been entirely forgotten as we worked earnestly on our ‘broken self’.

The new way (this new post-2012 era) is to think about your journey, effect any repairs quickly or get help to do so, and then get on your way. The emphasis is on where you want to go! What do you want to experience, create, manifest or share on this road trip of yours? It’s about the journey, not about the flat tyres. Little Red Cap invites you to hold a spirit of adventure and possibility in your heart this week as you look to your year ahead.

Supportive crystals this week?

Selenite helps you to be kind to yourself. It will also connect you into your guides, angels and psychic ability. Fantastic for gently guiding you inwards. Red Jasper is a stone for mental, physical and emotional rejuvenation. Deeply grounding, it helps you connect to your heart and your truth and encourages clear boundaries. Lapis Lazuli is a super stone for boldly moving in new directions with insight and wisdom. If you are stressed or anxious about the past or about habits or thoughts that keep you stuck in the past Black Tourmaline is the best stone for you this week.

Helpful essential oils?

I’m still loving Young Living’s Envision this week. It’s an oil blend I often use in my workshops and retreats to help my students connect to inner wisdom and intuition. It helps us to see a greater possibility for ourselves. Use Envision for spiritual connection, inspiration and breakthroughs. Dab a drop on your Crown Chakra, back of neck, over your heart, wrists and the soles of your feet, inhale directly or add to your diffuser.

Want to make your own blend? Each of the following oils will work beautifully on their own for you this week, but they’ll also make a delicious combination for diffusing. Vetiver will calm and ground us, promoting emotional balance, Lavender keeps us in flow and relaxed, Ylang Ylang opens our hearts and is supportive when we feel anxious or overwhelmed, and Bergamot brings joy, gratitude and optimism.  To diffuse add 2 or three drops of each oil to your room or personal diffuser. You can find the oils here.

Holding you, as always, in my thoughts, prayers and meditations, and intending for you a life of abundance and joy, where you are no longer limited by your doubts.

All my love,

Nicole ❤ xx

2018 – Guidance for the Year Ahead

“Be the celebrators, celebrate! Already there is too much—the flowers have bloomed, the birds are singing, the sun is there in the sky—celebrate it! You are breathing and you are alive and you have consciousness, celebrate it!”
~  Osho

Happy New Year, Lovelies, and welcome to 2018!

New Year’s Day is always a special time for me. I like to welcome the day with meditation, and then spend some time over the course of the day contemplating my year ahead, asking for spiritual guidance, and writing in my journal and my Year of ME Planner.  For me it is a day of planning and dreaming, and spending time with people and activities that matter to me.

I have one tarot deck that I use only for the first day of the new year.  For over 25 years I have worked with this deck as a touchstone to set the themes of my year ahead so that I might live with greater awareness and understanding.  I don’t use the cards as a predictive tool – rather I use them for reflection, and to seek guidance about qualities, actions and perspectives that might benefit me over the next twelve months.

I also ask for one card for you – to give YOU guidance over the year ahead.  This is my personal interpretation of that card for you, and the energies of 2018 as they unfold in front of us.

Please note: The energies of 2018 don’t actually kick in until January 14-16. (Before that we are still in The Lull) From mid-January onwards we’ll move into a year that is much more about simple living, and about relationships and love and family and friendship.

THE SUN – Insights for 2018

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive.” ~ Howard Thurman

The Sun is a brilliant guiding card for the year ahead, no pun intended! 2018 is a heart-centered year. It’s about connection and inclusion. It’s a fine year for all forms of creativity, fertility and innovation. It’s a great year for healing old hurts, mending fences and rebuilding relationships. It’s also a year where you’re clearly see where to walk away and put your energies to situations and relationships that are more suitable for you.

The Sun shows us that this year we’re supported to spend time in acts of creativity and innovation. Ideas will flow. Things will come together. Making money, making art, connecting in love, original ideas and projects – all of these things will be easier. It’s also a year for socialising, for celebrating and for connecting with family and friends.

Relationships – with yourself, with others, with your work – that’s what matters this year.

After years on a path of struggle and feeling alone in the world, 2018 opens out onto a kinder energy where we can finally begin to feel like we belong.

Don’t waste your year on hard work and striving unless that is absolutely the thing that lights you up, and even then make sure there is ample time to smell the roses.

2018 is a heart-centred and abundant year. It holds a very fresh, nurturing and inspiring energy. It’s a year of possibility, creativity, connectedness, communication, collaboration and community. It’s a time where love can blossom, and relationships will thrive. The families we are born into or create for ourselves, our friendships, our work and community connections – all of these will have a greater importance for us this year.

It’s a time for making things and creating art. For finding a life path that fills us with gratitude, for celebration and for strong growth in our families and businesses. It’s about belonging to or creating a tribe of our own. A time for enjoying ourselves and this gift that is our lives. A time for moving forward together.

In 2018 we’re encouraged to live with a bigger vision for ourselves and the planet. This year supports all kinds of innovative and creative work, and is a time where many useful new ideas and projects will be birthed into the world.

How will you connect, or help others to be included this year? What will you craft for yourself, your family, your community or the wider world?

I’m wishing you a year rich with meaning, and filled with love, support, kindness, well-being and flow. Go be the change. Go be yourself. We need you more than ever.

Bless ♥ Nicole xx
