A Message for Empaths and Sensitive Souls

Lovely friends, I just wanted to write you a little message of hope and reassurance this morning, because I know many of you have been feeling as I do. And this past month or so has certainly given us a buffeting.

As we near the end of 2016 many of us have felt completely drained. Not only that, the usual fixes haven’t worked. More sleep, better diet, extra supplements, caffeine, yoga – all the things we’d generally use to perk ourselves back up or keep ourselves going – none of them have restored us to and then kept us at a place of feeling energised and vibrant.

Dear ones, it isn’t just you.

And there isn’t something seriously wrong with you. Although it might feel that way…

 

There are a few things at play here that are affecting you:

1. Positive Ions and Changes in the Planet’s Energies

There is major shift within the Earth’s crust. This creates phenomena such as earthquakes and active volcanoes, but it also releases  a massive amount of positive ions into the atmosphere. Positive ions impact our capacity to ground, as they change the electrical charge of the earth beneath our feet from a negative one to a positive one. Being unable to ground is a serious issue for emotionally and energetically sensitive people. It renders us unable to discharge the energies we pick up from other people and places.

Positive ions also increase inflammation, disturb sleep patterns, impair brain function, suppress the immune system, cause anxiety and depression, generate huge fatigue, provoke asthma and breathing difficulties, and impair digestive and hormonal function.

Positive ions affect everyone negatively, but for energetically sensitive people the problem is magnified.

 

2. Massive Energetic Clearing

Many of us have come to this lifetime to be pattern-breakers within our family tree. These last months of 2016 are gifting us opportunities to break patterns within us, and within our family, that have been handed down through generations.

Ancestral healing, healing of relationships, healing of patterns within us – all of this takes huge work. First we need to become aware of the patterns. Then we must generate the will to change. Then we must make the change. It often takes a supreme effort to do so. The energetic cost is high.

Of course, when we break patterns there is often resistance in those around us. Situations and relationships can become tense and difficult. Lots of stress generation adds an additional load to the already overburdened empath or intuitive.

 

3. Ending of Old Cycles

We are in the last vestiges of that old energetic era which started before the birth of Christ, and which began its phase out in 2012.

That era was one of masculine energy, power, authority, domination and technology.

Often something that is on the way out kicks and shoves and makes its weight felt one last time.

Sensitive and intuitive souls feel that kick more than most.

As this cycle ends we are also letting go of those unbalanced aspects of ourselves. Lots of work is done as we sleep. Lots of work happens in our psyche and energetic fields. We might be consciously aware of it. All we’ll feel is exhaustion. And rightly so – because we’re working really hard to get this old cycle closed off for good. We’re levelling up. Shift is happening!

 

4. Holding Space at a Soul Level

Empaths, intuitives, highly sensitive people, lightworkers – all of us who are sitting in a place of higher awareness and connection to humanity and the planet – all of us are holding space for a more positive unfolding of Earth’s evolution.

We are hurting as we feel injustices and cycles of damage.

We are holding a vision of a world that is kinder, calmer, greener and more evolved.

That kind of space-holding is vital to the conscious unfolding of mankind. And it takes a lot of energy.

So, my friends, if you are weary to the bone, if you can’t work out what’s wrong, if you think it’s only you, think again.

We’re closing off the old. We’re birthing the new.

It’s a lot of work.

Right at a time when we can’t ground or gain the energetic support from the Earth that would more easily sustain us.

It will pass.

Until the earth’s energy stabilises again, there are things we can do to help ourselves become re-grounded:

  1. Drink water with 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda and 1 teaspoon lemon juice or apple cider vinegar  – this will neutralise the static electricity in you. Don’t have more than 2 doses of this in a day.
  2. Hold or carry a red jasper or a black tourmaline – or both if you have them
  3. Make a grid of 4 stones for your bed – use hematite, carnelian or any jasper. No quartz! Activate with red light. Don’t know how? Go here – How to Build a Crystal Grid
  4. Rub Sesame Oil onto the soles of your feet
  5. Use Lavender oil for calming your limbic system – inhale or rub on soles of feet.

Keep doing the work! Plan, reflect, journal, meditate, take long walks, practice self-care and be aware of your own thoughts and behaviours. Now is the time for actioning these last big changes from the old energies. Now is your time to change the world, by first changing yourself.

Just a little bit tired…

Harry and I are a little bit tired today, so we’ll keep this post short. We both had medical appointments in the city yesterday. Harry for an anaesthetic and an x-ray for his mouth to make sure it was healing well and me for bloods, brain and heart scans to see how my Lyme treatments are progressing.

Harry’s vet is very happy with his progress, and I’ll get my own results in a couple of days. Compared to this time last year I’m travelling well, so fingers crossed for good news.

This morning we’re finally heading home to the farm. Hooray. The ute is nearly packed, and all we have to do is climb aboard. Our plan is to nap while Ben drives and Bert barks at everything. We’re tired enough that we should sleep through all the excitement just fine! We’ll have much more interesting things to write about tomorrow, I’m sure. 🙂

Gifts from the Road…

I’m home.  I slept in my own bed last night. Today I have work in front of me – a long, intense stretch of it, in fact.  But it doesn’t matter.  I feel renewed, and something in me has been mended.

Maybe it was all that good roadhouse and bakery food.  We started with a breakfast at Kibbles Bakery in Casino at barely 7 in the morning on Day One of our trip.  They stumped up toasted sangers, bacon and eggs and an enormous pot of excellent strong tea, and then charged us so little money I queried them twice.

Maybe it was all the wide open spaces, and the smell of sunshine and dust and gumleaves. Our trip took us well and truly off the beaten track, and delivered us more than a few amazing vistas.  It was a pleasure just to stop and sit for a while, enjoying the solitude and the sounds of nature. And of course, we got to pick up my birthday windmill!

There were moments of whimsy, like the artist and potter friends we visited, whose farm was littered with little sculptural surprises…

More than once we came to a new town and discovered something wonderful, like the milkbar at Bingara that is straight out of the 1920s, and which deserves a blog post all its own.

Of course I still took life with me.  I have a Channelling Intensive Retreat in a few weeks, and my students were worn round my neck, worked through my fingers twice daily or more so, as I prayed my mala. Maybe they needed the nurture of the Outback energies too…

We covered vast distances on this trip, and I had the odd sensation of moving through life in a blur, and being simultaneously cocooned safely in the arms of the land, quiet and still.

Life reminded me of the things I loved.  I found a second-hand bookshop in Glen Innes, and spent way too long perusing the shelves. Of course I came away with a few, some of which were devoured before we even made it home. I was reconnected to a story of my own that I’d put down a few years ago, unsure how to proceed.  On this trip I was gifted clarity and inspiration. I made notes that will help me complete the project I have struggled with so long.  Once again I see the wisdom of Universal Timing.

Book shops – I love them so!

I said goodbye to my friend who died last week, in a way that felt right and that allowed her past suffering to become a bright blaze of light and love. I held my husband’s hand. I said hello to myself again. And in the shortest of times really, something shifted and all my burdens eased or fell away.

Eight Ingredients for Better Health

To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.  Buddha

Our bodies are the vehicle for our Souls. By honouring and looking after our physical vehicle we are then much better able to access and work with our mental and spiritual gifts.

There are eight practical, proven and simple things that we can do or include in our lives each day in order to help build up energy within our bodies, and to maintain our physical health and vitality.  This is not rocket science – it is fundamental and basic information.  Yes, what I am about to share sounds like what your Nana might have told you (in fact, my Nana told me).  Yes, it works!!!

These ‘miracle’ ingredients for a long and healthy life are:

  1. Water
  2. Sleep
  3. Fresh Air
  4. Clean and Nourishing Food
  5. Movement
  6. Spiritual Health
  7. Love
  8. Self Control

Let’s explore each of these eight vital ingredients in more detail.


1.  Water

Drink plenty of fresh, clean water.

Suggestions:  For best results take your water at room temperature to minimise pressure on your internal organs which would otherwise have to heat the water up before using it.  Keep a bottle of water with you at all times, even beside your bed.  Often residual low level fatigue is the result of chronic dehydration.  For even better results, write positive words and affirmations on your water bottle.  If you suffer from dizziness or low blood pressure, add a small pinch of celtic salt to your water bottle.  This will help restore the electrolyte balance within your body and assist with the uptake of water and oxygen by your body’s cells.

2.  Sleep

Get adequate (what your body really needs, not what you let it have!) sleep.

Suggestions:  Most of us need a minimum of eight hours, and sometimes more if we are fighting off an infection, healing, growing or changing.   Did you know that most of the western world’s adult population is sleep deprived?  Since the introduction of the electric light bulb, and then television, adults have been slowly eroding their hours of quiet time and sleep during the evening hours.  Where we once had a few hours of quiet talk, or reading, or other gentle and relaxing activities to wind down before sleep, we now have over-stimulation from television.  We sleep from one to four hours less per night on average than our physical body requires.  The artificial light we are exposed to during the day in offices and shopping centres, and at night in our own homes reduces chemical and hormonal input from our bodies that would ordinarily prepare us for sleep.  We lose our natural sleep rhythms.  This sort of prolonged sleep deprivation, where you get substandard sleep or inadequate sleep takes some months to recover from, and prevents the body from healing, solving problems and spiritual connection during the sleeping hours.

To improve sleep, get some exposure to natural full-spectrum sunlight every day.  (Don’t wear sunglasses as this changes the spectrum of the sun’s rays.) Twenty minutes would be a minimum.  Don’t go to bed immediately after a big meal.  Let the digestion process have around two hours first to get started so that your sleep is not compromised.  If this is hard to do, eat earlier, or make your main meal lunch so that you are only digesting light food at night time.  Keep your bedroom quiet, dark and well ventilated.  Take at least half an hour before sleep to wind down.  Don’t do this in front of the television!  Take a shower, read a book, listen to music, meditate, make love.  You may also want to remove electro-magnetic radiation from the bedroom, or at least get rid of electrical appliances beside, behind or under the bed.  Lavender essential oil aids relaxation and sleep.  In winter keep your feet warm, or have a warm shower just before going to be so that you don’t get into bed cold.

3.  Fresh Air

Oxygen and clean air is vital to our well being on every level.

Suggestions:  Get out into the fresh air and sunshine each day.  Oxygen is vital for our well being.  Sunshine is important for providing vitamin D. Use good posture to enable you to breathe deeply and to avoid shallow breathing.  Take several slow, deliberate deep breaths a few times a day to recharge and re-oxygenate your blood.  Make sure that your home, office and bedroom are well ventilated, with a good flow of natural air.  Don’t spend all of your time in air-conditioning, and if you do use an air-conditioner keep it well maintained.  Minimise dust and mould in your environment.  Avoid exposure to chemicals, especially within your home.  Don’t exercise on busy roads.

4.  Clean and Nourishing Food

Food is both fuel and medicine for our bodies.  Our bodies are the direct result of the quality of nutrition that we put into them.  Eat regularly to maintain a good supply of fuel to your brain and body.

Suggestions:  Food is best when it is freshly prepared, chemical free, and made with love.  Blessing your food, and eating in a relaxed environment really does make a difference.  Favour a plant-based diet, with the inclusion of good quality fats and proteins. Choose organic meats and free range chickens, and wild caught seafoods.  Grass fed beef has the same essential fatty acid ratio as fish – grain fed beef does not, and is not nearly as good for you.  Make sure you get a good range of fresh vegetables each day – these can also be eaten as juice.  Fruit is better taken as a whole food than as a juice so that you can minimise your concentrated sugar intake.  Eat fruit and vegetables in season.  Out of season food has often had to travel a long way to get to you, and will have lost a lot of its vital energy and goodness.  Nuts and seeds are good, and so are whole grains.  Naturally fermented foods such as yoghurt, keffir and so on are also good for your gut health.  If a food has a prolonged shelf life, it will also have little life force.

Reduce and avoid food that is mass produced, fast food, or high in sugars, salts, stimulants (such as caffeine) fats and flour.  Avoid artificial colours and additives.  Eat when you’re hungry, and pay attention to when and why you eat so that you can identify and manage emotional eating – where we eat for comfort or entertainment rather than because our body needs fuel.  Sharing a meal with a friend or family member is always a good way to reduce stress.  Don’t eat in front of television, and don’t eat when you are upset.  Always calm down before eating.  Different bodies prefer different diet variations – if necessary find a good natural therapist or dietician to help you with your food choices.  Listen to your body – it will soon tell you what it does and doesn’t like.  In times of stress or illness, it may be necessary to take additional supplements of vitamins, minerals and/or herbs.  Seek help if you need it.

5.  Movement

Our bodies were designed to move.  They must be moved, nurtured and stretched on a daily basis.  Movement allows the internal organs to function well, it keeps joints lubricated, circulates blood, oxygen and lymph within our bodies, and helps us to stay supple, strong and mobile.

Suggestion:  Movement helps decrease obesity, depression and a host of other ills.  The longer we go without movement, the more difficult movement becomes.  Find some exercises that you enjoy, and try to become active at work and home.  Learn some basic stretching, and if you want to understand and nourish the physical body on an even higher level, learn yoga, tai chi or qi gong.  Movement was never just about going to a gym, although you might enjoy this.  Movement is also about walking, surfing, lawn bowls, stretching, swimming on a hot day, skiing in winter, dancing anytime, gardening, housework, fencing, playing with children or animals, chasing your lover around the bedroom, building, creating, self expression and pure joy.  It can also be about the discipline of a martial art or practice such as yoga, or about the fun of teamwork playing footie, cricket, tennis doubles, or tug-of-war.  Not so bad after all, is it?

6.  Spiritual Health

Those people who have an active faith, and who practice regular connection with that faith have better physical health and longevity, lower stress levels, faster healing, greater rates of ‘unusual and unexpected’ recoveries and greater levels of personal acceptance and satisfaction.

Suggestion:  Spirituality isn’t about going to church, although for some people that can be an important focus of their faith.  It means taking time to talk with God and your Guides, Angels and Loved Ones who’ve passed over.  It’s about having a connection to the earth and all living things.  Some people do this through listening to music, some people do this through creating art, and some people do this through going for a walk in nature.  How you find your Soul, and talk with your God is up to you.  Spiritual Health is about making time to go within, through prayer, meditation and self reflection.  And doing these things as a normal part of your daily routine.  Take time to learn about your spirituality, to read and share and grow your faith.  Take time to practice your connection.  Use spiritual tools, and give and receive spiritual energy.  Pray for yourself and others on a regular basis.  It is also powerful to meet with like-minded people to share the experience.  This can be through worship, group meditations, sharing healings and readings, attending festivals and workshops, or even just holding hands together before a meal.

7.  Love

Love is fundamental to the human spirit.  We need to learn to give and to receive love, and to do this daily!  Love is the most powerful energy in the Universe.

Suggestion:  Self love and self care top this list.  This includes treating ourselves well, and surrounding ourselves with energies that uplift and support us.  We all need someone to love.  Family, friends, partners, even animals.  We need to be able to actively demonstrate love through our thoughts, actions and intentions.  It is also important that we open ourselves up to receive love as well.  This is often much harder to do, than to love others.  Become involved in helping others.  Use your spiritual faith to help you find ways to express Love in the World.

8.  Self Control

Self control is a conscious development of our will.  It is the voice of our wise self, and it becomes stronger and easier to identify the more we use it.  Self control allows us to stay true to who we are, and to what we know is good for us.

Suggestions:  Self control requires self trust, and self love.  If we come home from work feeling tired, it is easy to eat junk food and forgo exercise.  Self control is the wise and caring voice within us that urges us to eat something healthy, to take the dog for a walk, or to say ‘no’ to a second helping of dessert.  It is often difficult to exert any self control if we have not worked with this part of us for a long time.  When self control is not exercised, our inner critic – the ego, can make us feel very unhappy and inadequate.  This fuels low self esteem and can make the lack of self control even worse.  Our wise self whispers, “eat a salad and some fish” and we then need to exercise our self control to enable this to happen.  If instead we eat toast with jam, and a bowl of ice-cream, the ego will chastise us.  Your self talk might then sound like this: “Oh, you are so fat and weak.  You might as well eat another bowl of ice-cream.”  And so you do, and end up feeling worse about yourself, and believing that you have no will power.  If your self control is weak, start with small promises that you make and then keep with yourself.  As you fulfil each promise, this will strengthen your self control by building your sense of worth and self confidence.  If you slip back, be kind with yourself and just start again.

Journal Activity: Revisit each of the eight ingredients of good health.  For each ingredient, write down one small step that you could take in the next few days to strengthen that area within your own life.  Make sure the actions you want to take are small, measurable and achievable so that you can continue to strengthen your wellbeing, self belief and self control!

Knowing When to Walk Away

You know the old saying I am sure.  The definition of madness (some actually say stupidity) is to do the same thing over and over, and yet keep expecting a different result.

Walking away is not an admission of defeat.  Walking away is about recognising our own boundaries, our own limits, and our own needs.

So how do you know if it’s time to walk away?  (And I’m not just talking relationships – I’m talking jobs, business deals, addictions, habits, workloads, friendships, situations… )

Look for these signs, and ask yourself honestly if any of these describe you:

If it’s just not adding up, no matter which way you crunch the numbers…

Life is short. For you. For them. If it’s not working, and you’ve done all you can do, or all you’re willing to do, walk away. Do it in your own time – there’s no need to make life harder for yourself. But do it. Do it because if you don’t value yourself, no-one else will.

The Magic of an Epsom Salts Bath

One of my favourite things is soaking in an Epsom Salts bath after a long day of psychic work. It works to soothe me on all levels – body, mind and spirit.

Because the magnesium from the Epsom Salts is absorbed directly through your skin it allows even people who find it hard taking magnesium orally to be able to top themselves up with this magical mineral.

Magnesium is an important element within our body.  It is used by our nervous system, and also by our muscles.  When we do psychic or metaphysical work we also burn up lots of magnesium. Magnesium is a co-factor in over 300 enzymatic actions in the human body, such as co-factoring with calcium to build and sustain healthy bones. It gives us energy, prevents muscle cramps and pains, calms us and helps us sleep.

How do you know if you might be magnesium deficient?  There’s a list of common symptoms here.

How to make your own Epsom Salts Bath:

Firstly, you’ll need a bathtub!  If you don’t have one then a big bucket to soak your feet in is the next best thing. The ingredients I list are for a bathtub, so reduce them accordingly if you are using a bucket.

Fill your bath with water that is tolerably hot (it needs to be able to flush your skin slightly pink) without burning you.  You need the water hot so that your pores open and because it aids osmosis.

Now add two heaped cups of Epsom Salts to your bath and stir to dissolve. Spend at least ten minutes having a good soak!

Extras – for that Deluxe Bath Experience

You can also add some essential oils to your bath to enhance the experience.  Use a few drops of Lavender at the end of the day if you want to relax – this is a great sleep enhancer.

3 drops of Rose Geranium, 3 drops of Bergamot and one drop of Vetiver will reduce stress and help rebalance hormones.

2 drops Rosemary, 3 drops Basil and 3 drops of Lemon will perk you up, enhance your mental clarity and memory, and boost your immune system.

Epsom Salts baths also detoxify the body, and work wonders on your aura – that energetic bubble our physical bodies reside within.  Epsom Salt baths clear our auras and strengthen them.

I often put a few tumbled crystals in my bath too – favourites are smoky quartz for clearing negativity and low vibrations from my aura, rose quartz for love and nurture, and amethyst for enhancing spiritual connection.  I often throw in a carnelian too, as it is a great physical healer and energy booster.

The Broken Robot Repair Shop

There is an alarming trend I’m seeing, of broken people wanting to be fixed so that they can keep doing the things that broke them.

I call it Broken Robot Syndrome – people so busy, so stretched, so weighed down by debt and responsibility and complexity that they are deep in fatigue, immersed in exhaustion, and no longer capable of recognising that they have become robots.

Does any of the following definition apply to you?

Definition of ROBOT (from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

  1. a : a machine that looks like a human being and performs various complex acts (as walking or talking) of a human being; also : a similar but fictional machine whose lack of capacity for human emotions is often emphasized    b : an efficient insensitive person who functions automatically
  2. : a device that automatically performs complicated often repetitive tasks
  3. : a mechanism guided by automatic controls

Lack of sleep exhausts us. Having a too-busy schedule with no down time, play time or rest time fatigues us. The combination of the two breaks us.

There are warning signs of being in that robotic place:

  • Lack of libido.  Libido is about joy of life, not just sexual drive. But the two go hand in hand.
  • Creative and original thought dries up. We struggle to be innovative and to come up with fresh ideas.  At worst we think through a fog.
  • Health decline. Vague symptoms of weariness, sleep issues, digestive issues, aches and pains that gradually build into definable illnesses and burnout.
  • Inability to make even simple decisions. Suddenly a menu with 50 choices and a need to pick something satisfying becomes an event capable of reducing you to tears because you no longer recognise what you want, let alone what you need.
  • Everything is scheduled. Everything.
  • Tired all the time, and doing the usual things – coffee, sugar, pick-me-ups, naturopath, gym, diet, counselling – make not a jot of difference.
  • Overwhelm, depression and negativity are regular companions.

So, what to do?

First of all, understand that fixing a broken robot so that they can keep functioning as a robot is really not a suitable solution for a human.

Here are some tools from the Robot Repair First Aid Kit that might work for you:

  1. Get more sleep.  Go to bed earlier.  Create days where you can have sleep-in catch ups, or lie in bed all day reading, resting and relaxing.
  2. Simplify. Cut back on your activities, responsibilities and involvements, and make sure that the kids don’t get caught up in the vicious cycle of over-achievement and over-commitment either.
  3. Get help for the things that are stressing you. When we go to bed worried and wake up worried, and are kept up nights by worry then something has to give. If your worries involve money see what you can do to cut down the debt mountain – speak to your lending organisations or the places you owe and get an easier ‘hardship’ repayment scheme. Sell something. Downsize. Simplify. Put your hand up and ask for help. Make sure that your household are all committed to the same plan.
  4. If your worries involve relationships, get some time on your own, even if this is just a cup of coffee at the local cafe. Use that time to think about where you are, how you got there, and what your next move is. Staying in a relationship that is unloving, unsupportive, or where there are serious issues can be enough to bring any sane person to their knees. Find a good counsellor to help you work through your options. If you’re a carer, find a support group.  If you already know what you need to do, then act.  Staying and not doing or saying anything, hoping for change, has seldom proved to be a winning strategy. Only action brings change.
  5. Ask yourself the big question, “Does this relationship/job/choice/decision honour me?” Maybe it’s time to change jobs, move house, stop studying, start studying, have the conversation…
  6. Know that wherever you’ve ended up, it can change.  There is a road ahead of you to lead you back to yourself and to a place of content and security.

Here are some things to help Robots turn back into humans:

  • Time with friends
  • Time alone
  • Time in nature – walking, surfing, cloud busting, playing with pets in the backyard, gardening
  • Time for yourself and your own interests
  • Sleep
  • Relaxation time with NO expectations, goals or objectives
  • Music
  • Making art
  • Good food and good company
  • Emotional connection
  • Hugs
  • Spiritual connection, meditation, prayer or other practices that help you connect to your inner wisdom and to a Higher power.
  • Movement – not going to the gym because you have to – walking in the rain because it’s fun, dancing in the lounge room in your pyjamas because you love the music, playing with the kids or the dogs in some silly run-around game that makes everybody laugh

Life is short.  Life is precious.  When you become a Robot you miss everything good. Don’t fix yourself up to keep doing the thing that broke you. Allow 2012 to be the year where you create real, lasting and positive change.  Bless xx
