Valentine Chocolate Oracle for Manifesting Love!

You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.
~ Dr. Seuss

Valentine’s Day has a wonderful sentiment – that we should celebrate love and lovers, that we should name the emotions that often sit silent in our heart.

But why have just one day for the celebration of love?  Why not live with that sense of appreciation and joy every day! And of course it’s not just for the young, for couples, and for romantic love.  Love is an emotion that is available to us all.

Today’s blog gives you a mini-reading about love, in many different forms. It’s not a fortune-telling exercise for finding a soul mate, instead it’s about letting more love into your life. All you need to do is scroll through the pictures of my Valentine Chocolates, and choose the one that appeals to you most. Then go further down the page to read the meaning for the chocolate treat you have chosen.

Each Valentine Chocolate has a message for you. I have also selected a crystal to best support the message and energies of your chocolate choice.  You could wear or hold this crystal, pop it in your pocket, under your pillow or beside your bed. The Power Word is a word to remind yourself of the quality you most need and that you are strongly attracting right now.  You can turn it into your own personal mantra by saying “I choose ___________ ” (insert your Power Word). Your Magical Healing Environment is a place or activity you’ll find supportive and healing.

♥ 1. Kaleidoscope of Colour – Celebrating the joys of life! Life is about living – not just existing! It’s time to enjoy life’s everyday offerings a little more. Take yourself out to a movie or an art exhibition. Meet a friend for coffee. Go to a concert. Visit someplace near home that you haven’t been before. Go shopping somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit and just appreciate all the choices available to you. Pack a picnic and go visit a favourite outdoor place or picnic on the lounge-room floor of a loved one’s space!  *If you’re in a relationship, or happy on your own, spend your time exploring the world outside your front door. Change up your routines. Find the pleasure in life again! If you’re single think of joining an interest or dinner group – it’s time to put yourself out into the world.  ♥ Best Crystal – Green Aventurine  ♥ Power Word – Enjoyment  ♥ Magical Healing Environment – Anywhere that reminds you of the blessings and opportunities in your life.  Wandering through the city or your favourite mall, an art gallery or favourite cafe, a florist shop or a beautiful garden.

♥ 2. Sprinkle of Magic – Treating yourself well and living your best life. It’s time to value yourself more. You might need a mini-make-over – a new hairstyle, a manicure, a new perfume or cologne, some new clothes that truly suit you and make you look and feel good. It might be time to sort your health out, join that yoga group, and throw out all the junk food. Or maybe it’s time to enrol in that study you’ve always dreamed about. This is your one beautiful life – not some dress rehearsal. You won’t get a chance to do this life over, so make every moment count. *If you’re in a relationship, refresh the energies with some together time and appreciation. Maybe plan a holiday together, or take yourselves out for a special dinner. If you’re happily single, think about your dreams and goals and make one of them a priority. Make sure your life is rich with meaning and satisfaction. If you’re looking for love, aim high. No renovators delights for you. If love doesn’t elevate you and make you feel safe, warm and cherished it’s not worth settling for. ♥ Best Crystal – Citrine  ♥ Power Word – Self-worth ♥ Magical Healing Environment – Anywhere that makes you feel good about yourself. This could be a day spa, a session with a personal stylist, time with your wise and loving Nana, a yoga class or a bookshop. It might be sitting in a lecture theatre or kayaking around the bay.

♥ 3. Everything’s Rosy – Adventures in Sensuality.  It’s time to bring pleasure and sensuality back into your life. Explore tastes and textures, indulge all of your senses, make time for massages, lovemaking, dancing and beautiful food. Buy yourself some gorgeous underwear, perfume or body lotion. Let yourself come alive again. *For couples, find ways to bring magic and pleasure back into your relationship. For happily singles, nurture and nourish your senses.  If you’re looking for love, embrace your sensual side. Think about what pleasure means to you, and get comfortable with it!  ♥ Best Crystal – Garnet  ♥ Power Word –Feel  ♥ Magical Healing Environment – anything that reconnects you to your senses.  Bubble baths, clean sheets, music, dancing, lying in dappled sunlight on soft green grass, ocean swims, perfume and cologne, warm embraces, patisseries and chocolate shops.

♥ 4. Elegant Luxury – Levelling Up In Love and Life. Life is too short to settle for second best. In your job, in your relationships, in your living environment. It’s time to let your life level up. Don’t stay in situations or relationships where you are not happy and fulfilled. Don’t stay friends with people (or family!) who put you down or treat you badly. Value yourself!  *For couples, talk about your future and where your life is headed. Get help if your relationship is in trouble – whether that is counselling to stay together or to exit the relationship. Happily singles – be discerning about your life and reward yourself with things that matter deeply to you.  For those of you seeking love, set your sights high and know that this is the year you can make your romantic dreams come true. ♥ Best Crystal – Tiger Eye  ♥ Power Word – My Highest Potential  ♥ Magical Healing Environment – Change.  Change can be a force for good. Plan out your future, a future that you’ll love. Spend time thinking about what positive changes you can make in your life and know that the Universe is supporting you to do so.

♥ 5. Set The Mood – Love of Knowledge.  Knowledge and learning can be a beautiful thing. Getting to know yourself, getting to know each other, learning about something new, or taking existing knowledge deeper. Classes, courses, books, travel, study – or you out in the world teaching and sharing your own wisdom. This isn’t superficial learning. This is knowledge that transforms and enriches you. *Couples, go travelling together or learn something as a team. Happily singles, indulge in whatever learning takes your fancy, or spend time in conversation with someone you’d like to know better. If you’re single, follow your interests and be brave enough to go deeper with them. Don’t be surprised if love aligns itself to this new you. ♥ Best Crystal – Fluorite ♥ Power Word – Wisdom ♥ Magical Healing Environment – Time for yourself and your interests. Read books, join a course, attend a lecture, go travelling, make space to think deeply and to soak up knowledge.

♥ 6. Wholesome Simplicity – Choose Creativity and Playfulness.  Love expresses itself often through creativity. What do you love to do? Or a better question, what did you ‘used to love to do’? Re-acquaint yourself with lost loves, be that art, craft, music, foods, hobbies, places or activities. Make room for a creative project in your life, or at least rub shoulders with creative spaces for a while. *For couples, find a common creative interest and go do that thing together. For happily singles make room in your life for something that gives you creative joy. For those of you looking for love, join a group or class that supports a creative interest. And watch out for pregnancies – the ultimate form of creativity! ♥ Best Crystal – Any form of Jasper  ♥ Power Word – Explore  ♥ Magical Healing Environment – Anywhere that gets you in that creative mood. Hardware stores, book stores, craft supply shops, kitchen stores, the library, or wherever you can make, create and play.

♥ 7. Pure Soulfood – True Heart Connection.  It’s time to feed your Soul. Who makes your heart sing? Open your heart and connect with them. Spend time with the important people in your life.  It might be your partner, a best friend, a family member or a pet. We sometimes take the love of others for granted.  What can you do to let another know that you value and appreciate them? Don’t forget quality time for yourself too! *If you’re in a relationship, honour and celebrate your togetherness. If you’re happily single, dwell on the things you like about yourself. If you’re looking for love, get clear about what your values are, and what you’re looking for in a partner. Know that you deserve someone who will love you well and just as you are. ♥ Best Crystal – Rose Quartz  ♥ Power Word –Relating ♥ Magical Healing Environment – Togetherness, wherever that works best for you.  Cuddles, time together over a meal or a coffee, phone calls, a movie, spending time doing something you used to do together but don’t get time for anymore. Time communing with a favourite place or hobby.

♥ 8. My Sweet Treat – Stand Up For What You Believe In.  When we sit in our hearts we know what matters. It’s time to stand up for what matters. Maybe you need to start sharing your message or your work. Perhaps it’s time to become an activist or to join a local community group who are working to make one corner of the world a better place. If you chose this oracle the Universe wants you to know that what you care about matters, and that it’s time to give that thing your energy and care. *For couples, have the conversation about what matters to you. Support each other to pursue that thing. For happily singles, go make a stand or start towards that dream of yours. For those of you looking for love, you may well find it on the front line of a protest or at that charity dinner. Go follow your heart and the universe will take care of the rest! ♥ Best Crystal – Carnelian  ♥ Power Word – Empowerment  ♥ Magical Healing Environment – Anywhere that fires your passion and lets you know that your presence matters. Political groups, activist groups, protest groups, organisations or movements for social good, environmental groups, writers groups, support groups, or you on your own, toiling away at your dream!

Guided Meditation and Activities to connect you to your Heart Wisdom

“Don’t love to be loved in return. Love for the sake of loving.”

~ Connor Chalfant

Our heart, and Heart Chakra, is both a receiver and a transmitter for love and wisdom. The more we open our heart by giving, the more we can connect into receiving. This positive flow of loving energy allows us to live from our hearts as intuitive, connected and compassionate human beings.

Activity:

Our hearts love to love. Here are some suggestions for expressing that energy in the world this week:

  • Play with your pets, or go feed ducks in the local park. Animals are wonderfully intuitive, loving and giving.

  • Make a connection that expands your own heart. Read to a child, or even to an adult.

  • Catch up with friends for a coffee, a meal or a movie.

  • Play tennis with a friend, or go to a yoga class together. Do anything athletic that involves someone else, some encouragement, some sharing and some laughing.

  • Visit or call an elderly relative or a family member who’ll be glad to see you!

  • Spend an hour giving random but sincere compliments to strangers. Tell the waitress you like her earrings or the supermarket attendant that you’re grateful for the skilful way he packs your bag so your bread doesn’t get squashed. Smile.

  • Leave a kind and supportive message on a pillow, tucked into a pocket, or posted on a blog.

  • Volunteer, and care for others in some way. Humans love to give, and to help, and to be united in the energy of that caring.

  • Plan a party or a special event to bring together people that you love, even if that event doesn’t take happen straight away.

  • Join a retreat, workshop or holiday tour and meet new friends. Be open to connecting with others.

Journalling:

Meet your heart on the page. Take a minute or two to calm yourself, by closing your eyes and breathing deeply. Focus on your heart, and build that energy within you. Visualise the colour green. (If you wish, work with the energy of the meditation below before you begin!) When you are ready start writing, starting with the words,

“The thing my wise heart really needs my conscious mind to know is…”

Meditation:

This six-minute meditation will help you tap into your heart’s own intuition and wise guidance, opening you up to deeper and deeper levels of spiritual connection.

Sending love from my heart to yours,

Nicole  xx

The Hidden Secrets of my Grandfather’s Heart

My Grandfather's worn leather wallet, with its hidden treasures.

My Grandfather’s worn leather wallet, with its hidden treasures.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
~ Roald Dahl

My maternal Grandfather, Cedric Beresford Nurcombe, better known as Ceddie to those he loved, died two days before Christmas in 2005. He was a wonderful man; hard working, honest, with a great sense of humour and true old-fashioned values.

His marriage to my grandmother, Margaret ( we all called her Marga) remains one of the defining love stories of my life. They met when they were both so young, and were devoted to each other their entire lives.

2013-10-05 16.15.46

Recently my mum shared with me something very dear that she’d found when getting the old family home ready for sale after my grandmother’s death – Ceddie’s old, worn leather wallet, with his initials embossed on a gold button on the front.

2013-10-05 16.13.18

I held that soft leather in my hands and remembered all the times Ceddie had brought that wallet out to buy us kids an ice-cream, or to put petrol in the car, or diesel in the boat. It was as much a part of him as my grandmother’s beaded coin purse was of her.

What was still inside that wallet after his death is what I find most moving, and most revealing about my grandfather.

Ceddie was born in Longreach, the son of a drover, and his early life (which he rarely talked about) was hard. He qualified to become a wool classer, and eventually moved to to the city, marrying my grandmother and setting up the Apex Wool Scour in Brisbane. Still, my grandfather was a country boy who never lost his love for the land, or the memory of where he’d come from.

Here in his wallet was evidence of that. A tiny clipping from a 1950s newspaper with prices for wool sales. Saved as a precious relic for all that time.

Another newspaper clipping from the 1960s – the funeral notice for his sister, Florence.

There are two faded tickets for a Jazz Recital at the Concert Hall in Brisbane back in 1988. My grandparents loved their music. It must have been a memorable occasion for him to have kept those stubs.

But the most touching thing of all is a much-folded and worn piece of paper, on which is written a recipe for Baked Custard. The recipe is painstakingly numbered into steps by a man who was more used to welding, building, power tools and outdoors work than being helpful in the kitchen.

2013-10-05 16.12.59

The kitchen was always my grandmother’s realm. Marga was Queen of the Kitchen and we all acknowledged her skill. She was the one whose love of cooking sparked my own. Marga reigned supreme in the house, and in her garden. My grandfather took care of driving, business and everything else.

But as she aged, my grandmother suffered from poor health. She was diabetic, her eyesight began to fail, and she was hospitalised for a series of infections which had started in her jaw and then nearly killed her.

Marga couldn’t eat the hospital food. She was losing weight, losing strength and losing hope. So my grandfather took careful notes, and made her a baked custard which he brought up to her – good nourishing food to her own recipe. He kept making the baked custard for her until she came home, and even after that he continued to bake it for the rest of his life, taking great pride in his ability to make the ‘perfect’ custard dish. For months it was all his beloved wife could eat. Marga used to credit my grandfather’s cooking with saving her life. In fact, I’m sure it did.

2013-10-05 16.15.54

I treasure the secrets in my grandfather’s wallet. They’re a window into what was most precious in his life. They reveal a man with the tenderest of hearts.

That little scrap of paper with the custard recipe shows me that true love exists and endures, and that love, home and family remain the most important things in the world.

My wish for you today is that your own heart be filled with what matters most to you. All my love, ♥ Nicole xx

Wednesday Blessings

rainrainbow

“When people refer to ‘Back in the Day,’ it was a Wednesday. Just a little fun fact for you.” ~ Dane Cook

It’s been a rough ride this past week or so. That’s why I’ve decided to gift myself an ordinary Wednesday!

There’s a gentle rain falling, and I started my day by staying in bed, listening to the morning birdsong and the sound of rain on the tin roof.

fairywrens

Now I’m sipping lemon tea and blogging, before the day unfolds.

There will be writing this morning, early, at one of our favourite cafes in Bangalow.

2013-04-04 09.22.32

And then a morning of craft, catch-ups, cups of tea and friendship at my local CWA. (Country Women’s Association for those of you not in the know)  Lunch will be shared at the craft tables, and there will be plenty of laughter, chatting and moral support.

2012-05-09 09.58.28

Home for a nap and then some time in the garden, and tonight I’ll be cooking a lamb roast and a lemon delicious pudding for dinner, and inviting an elderly friend around, whose wife has recently gone into care.

I’ll finish off with a long soak in the bath, some meditation time, and then hopefully a restful night’s sleep.

For me it’s a day of rich blessings, of celebrating the ordinary, connecting with people I love, and taking some time just for me.  You can’t ask for more than that.

I hope you get to spend a little time doing things that fill you up too.  Much love, Nicole ♥ xx

Making My Life Work for Me – Week 3

“Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.” ~ Oscar Wilde

“A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge.” ~ Thomas Carlyle

“Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life.” ~ Leo Buscaglia

Welcome to Week 3 of our six week Making My Life Work for Me Program. (If you’re just joining us now, pop back and read the very first post so that you can gather the materials we’ll be using today.)

Our focus this week is on reconnecting with the energy of love in our lives.  Life becomes very empty without love – and I don’t just mean romantic love.

Get ready to open up your heart and let love in. A life lived with passion, purpose and a full heart will make you feel alive, energised and so grateful for the blessing of every day.

hearts

Instructions:

We will be following the same format each week.  Read through this entire post before you get started. You can do the activities all on one day, or spread them put over the week – whatever works best for you.

Meditation:

We’re going to start with a meditation to help you connect into and draw more love into your life.  Hold your crystal and drape your scarf or shawl around your shoulders.  Set aside twelve minutes for this. When you’re ready click the link below and simply follow the sound of my voice:

Nicole Cody’s Guided Meditation for Manifesting Love

Know that true and lasting love is possible. Know that you are already Loved. Love is your Nature. Love is your natural expression. ❤

(PS – I apologise for the breathy-ness of the recording, especially towards the end but my big fat heart is playing up today.)

Visualisation:

Do this straight after your meditation, when you are ready and open for receiving! Close your eyes and use your imagination. See yourself the way you want yourself to be in the world.  Feel yourself well loved, in love with life, and expressing that love joyfully in the world.  Have gratitude and expectation of drawing these things into your life.  Really put some energy into this.  You can repeat this step again this week (even daily) if it feels right.  Thoughts are things, and this is how you manifest in the Universe!

Using Your Journal:

Go back to the front of your journal and read your Pledge out loud.

You’ve committed to making a better life for yourself.  A better life means a life that holds more love – more connection to the significant relationships in your life, new relationships, and time for what matters to you. You are worthy of true and lasting love – with yourself, with family and other important people, with life paths, places and lifestyles. Be open to love in all its forms as you work with your journal this week.

Feel free to use your paints, coloured pens, glitter and stickers to make your journal visually attractive.  Get involved in the love manifestation process by pouring your creative heart into this week’s activities.

Card of the Week:

2013-03-24 16.30.18Let’s start our week by selecting some reflective spiritual Guidance.  Take your deck of positive cards, or your rune bag.  Close you eyes and offer up a prayer for the Highest Good, and then quiet your mind.

Randomly select a card/rune, trusting that it will have a message to guide you this week.  Write down the name of the card/rune and the message.  Feel free to add any additional thoughts or insights you might have.

Here’s what I chose for us: I love the message and appropriateness of this week’s card!

2013-04-07 08.45.41

2013-04-07 08.46.14

Our lives are made rich by relationships, and by having things in our lives that we care about deeply. Who can you reach out to this week and in the months ahead? How can you show love for yourself or someone special to you?

Week 3 Journal Activity:

On a clean page write a stream of consciousness around the question Where do I need more Love?  Start by clearing your mind, and then focus on your heart. This can be a hard thing to do if you haven’t checked in for a while. Look to the following areas and choose any or all of them to explore: self, health, family, life partner, friendships, animal companions, home, hobbies and interests, career, finances, spirituality, community.  No matter what you find when you look inside, intensify that feeling and then start writing. Draw pictures or mind map if you feel like it. Play music if it helps evoke the mood. Cast your net wide, and over the next few days keep adding to your list.  Allow any emotions that come up to be honoured, and then let them go. Keep bringing your attention back to your heart.

And now for heart art…

Collage – Self Portrait: Things that my heart loves.  Today we’re going to make a collaged picture of ourselves, made up of all of the things our heart loves.  If you choose, you can also add in photographs or copies of photographs of people, pets, places and other things dear to you.

Take your pile of old magazines and place them in front of you.  Holding your crystal close your eyes and say out loud “Universe, I am open to all Guidance and my own Higher Wisdom to help me invite, understand and honour the energy of love in my life. I AM love – love is in me and all around me.”  Take a moment and sit in that energy, really feeling yourself connecting into and opening to that heart wisdom.

Then when you’re ready, open your eyes and start flicking through the magazines.  If any pictures or words appeal to you, cut or rip them out and place them beside you. When you have enough images cut them up neatly, and then spend some time arranging them on a page or double page of your journal. Start by drawing a rough outline of your head and shoulders.  Then fill in your self portrait with images and words. If your journal isn’t big enough, feel free to use a sheet of cardboard. Glue your images to the page and leave it open to dry. There are so many things to fill you up with love.  Expect them to start turning up in your life.

Were there any surprises?  Did you notice any particular themes? How can you bring more of this nourishing love energy into your life?

Gratitude:

What’s already working in your life?  List five things in your journal each day that you are grateful for in your life.

Nightly Healing :

Get into bed and spend five minutes lying quietly in meditation with your eyes closed.  Call on God, Universal Energy, your Angels, your Guides, your Ancestors, whomever you feel comfortable and safe with.  Ask for their help.  Fill your body with white light, and then draw coloured light (just allow a colour to come to you) through your crown chakra (an energy point on the top of your head) and send it anywhere in your body that needs healing.  Feel the warmth as the energy radiates through your body, uplifting and healing you.  Know that answers will come while you are sleeping.

Give thanks, send this same healing gift from you to anyone or anywhere else if it feels right, and then sleep.  Expect dreams that inspire, heal and inform. Wishing you a wonderful week.

Much love to you, Nicole ♥ xx

Working with the energy of forgiveness

“Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.”
Suzanne Somers

Negative emotions can disrupt the flow of your heart chakra just as easily as boulders in a stream. How many boulders have piled up in your heart over time? Each boulder represents a major hurt, a major resentment, a major betrayal or disappointment, a deep wounding, shame or grief.

When the flow is disturbed or slowed, stagnation happens. Stagnant heart flow breeds anger and resentment, depression and self-loathing.  It muddies the clear waters of the heart, and that dirty water spills over into everything you do.

So how do we get those boulders out?

Forgiveness.

Forgiveness of others.  Forgiveness of self.

Forgiveness is the gift that sets us free. It’s not about condoning or approving what has been done, it’s about releasing yourself from the pain and the hurt of the past, and allowing yourself to move from stuckness back into flow.

Meditation on forgiveness:

Here’s a link to a simple guided meditation on forgiveness that can help open and clear your heart chakra:

Nicole Cody’s Guided Meditation on Forgiveness

Journalling:

Allow yourself to feel sorry for yourself for a bit.  Just a little bit.

Or a big bit if that’s what you need.  In that space of reconnecting into misery, start writing, beginning with the words, “If only that had never happened I would have been able to…”

Get it out.  There’s no point keeping it all bottled up.  All this stuff is doing you damage, all these half-truths and misconceptions and limiting beliefs.  Clear your heart stream of these sticks and stones. When you’re done, take a breath. Give yourself a ‘mental’ hug.  Good work. Feel the space you’ve just created in your life.

Activity:

Today, when you feel yourself move into an energy of impatience, resentment, frustration, anger, say in your mind “I forgive you and myself. I wish you well. I send you love. I bless you and I set you free”

Another useful blessing is “All is well in my world. I am love. Love is what I am attracting.”

Here’s a very short, powerful prayer for forgiveness.  Have a peaceful and blessed day. Love and Light, Nicole xx
