How To Work With The Energy of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.
~ Suzanne Somers

Hey, Lovelies.

How’s your heart?

Not your physical heart, but your emotional one. Your spiritual one. The energy of your heart chakra.

Is it in flow? Do you feel peaceful, connected, open, uplifted and compassionate?

Negative emotions can disrupt the flow of your heart chakra just as easily as boulders in a stream. How many boulders have piled up in your heart over time? Each boulder represents a hurt, a resentment, a betrayal or disappointment, a deep wounding, shame or grief.

When the flow of your heart is disturbed or slowed, stagnation happens. Stagnant heart energy breeds anger and resentment, depression and self-loathing.  It muddies the clear waters of the heart, and that dirty water spills over into everything you do.

So how do we get those boulders out?

Forgiveness.

Forgiveness of others.  Forgiveness of self.

Forgiveness is the gift that sets us free. It’s not about condoning or approving what has been done, it’s about releasing yourself from the pain and the hurt of the past, and allowing yourself to move from stuckness back into flow.

Tools for Forgiveness

Meditation on Forgiveness:

Here’s a link to a simple guided meditation on forgiveness that can help open and clear your heart chakra. You will need to set aside about 10 minutes of quiet time.

Feel free to hold a crystal while you follow the meditation. You could also use a drop of any of these: Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Geranium, Sandalwood, Frankincense, Lavender essential oil – massaged over your Heart Chakra.

Journalling:

Allow yourself to feel sorry for yourself for a bit.  Just a little bit. Or a big bit if that’s what you need.

In that space of reconnecting into sadness or misery, start writing, beginning with the words, “If only that had never happened I would have been able to…”

Or try this: “The reason I am so angry/upset/stuck (choose your own emotion) is…”

Get it out.  There’s no point keeping it all bottled up.  All this stuff is doing you damage, all these half-truths and misconceptions and limiting beliefs.  Clear your heart stream of these sticks and stones.

When you’re done, take a breath. Give yourself a ‘mental’ hug.  Good work. Feel the space you’ve just created in your life.

Affirmation Activity:

Today, when you feel yourself move into an energy of impatience, resentment, frustration, anger, or anxiety, say in your mind “I forgive you and myself. I wish you well. I send you love. I bless you and I set you free”

Another useful blessing is “All is well in my world. I am love. Love is what I am attracting.”

I also love the ancient Hawaiian spiritual practice – the Ho’oponopono. This simple practice involves the four energies of Repentance, Forgiveness, Gratitude and Love, and all you need to is say some simple words to invoke these energies. What is important is the these words can encompass ANYTHING, and all you need to do is feel the words and be sincere. If you like, you can also let thoughts related to these words rise to the top of your awareness. It’s a great way to clean old old stuck energies. Here are the words of the Ho’oponopono:

“I’m Sorry. Forgive Me. Thank You. I Love You.”

Forgiveness is always about you, and about energetically soothing and/or cutting cords with the people (including yourself!), relationships and situations that hold you in the painful past.

It’s a lifelong process, but it’s one that will bring you comfort, peace and flow.

Ho’oponopono. It’s such a prayer of comfort on difficult days, and a meditation on personal responsibility and compassion on the good days. For me, it’s often a practice for forgiveness and alignment for my relationship with myself!
I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you. I love you.

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.
