The Pleasure Of Working Out What To Bake

“Oh, you smell delicious! What’ve you been baking today?”

“Roasted strawberries and rhubarb for a mascarpone ice cream. Lemon tart pastry, mint meringues, sun-dried tomato rolls, honey cake.”

 Brianne Moore

Hey, Lovelies.

A friend has her birthday on Sunday.

I’ve invited her over to share a meal and, of course, because it is her birthday there needs to be cake.

I’m excited about that.

I found my old cookbooks and a folder full of recipes cut from magazines or hand written on scraps of paper yesterday. So, I’ve decided to bake something new, or something I haven’t cooked in a very long time.

It gives me so much pleasure to thumb through these well-loved books, and to explore some of the newer books in my collection in the hunt for just the right thing.

I’ll update you next week on what I end up making.

For me, half the fun is in the choosing!

The rest of my weekend involves a channelled webinar for my Inner Circle Membership on the Etiquette of Energy Work, and a whole lot of wrapping of journals and planners and malas and crystals. (You can buy them here.)

Sounds like the perfect weekend! Happy happy.

Much love, sugar, spice and wrapping paper, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. hand written on scraps of paper yesterday” What a perfect line! So many of mine are also like this. Stained and scented with spices. Looking forward to hearing what you kitchen created!

  2. My favourite cake is Garam Masala Tea Cake. It is the most lusciously crumbed cake I have ever made and eaten. I found the recipe on the SBS website for those of you in Australia and are interested in trying something new. I double the quantity of garam masala…but don’t be too heavy handed or the cake does start to taste savoury…speaking from experience!! Enjoy your baking today 💖
