Journal Challenge Week 5 – August 30, 2015

“Wounding and healing are not opposites. They’re part of the same thing. It is our wounds that enable us to be compassionate with the wounds of others. It is our limitations that make us kind to the limitations of other people. It is our loneliness that helps us to find other people or to even know they’re alone with an illness. I think I have served people perfectly with parts of myself I used to be ashamed of. ”
~ Rachel Naomi Remen

Welcome to Week Five of our journal challenge. If you missed the start you can go here to catch up on the tools you’ll need, and to find links to previous weeks.

This week, starting on August 30, is supported by the energies of the glorious Supermoon in Pisces. This is the Healer’s Moon. A moon that allows healers to access energies for their own healing. A moon to help all of us find a softer, kinder space in which to relate with ourselves.

The supermoon is a powerful connector for those wanting to work more strongly with their intuition and inner knowing. That intuitive flow can facilitate all kinds of healings, transformations and breakthroughs. If you’re energetically sensitive I’m sure you’ll have been feeling this push for honesty and positive transformation in our lives.

It’s no longer enough just to survive – to keep doing what we’ve always done in ways that keep us numb, or that make us die inside a little more each day.

This week the emphasis is on beginning to honour what we need to truly live a healthy, happy and emotionally satisfying life.

Are you ready to get clearer about what that looks like?

Let’s go!

Weekly Structure Reminder

Each week of this nine week challenge will follow the same format:

  1. We will begin with the short guided meditation for the week, using your guidance stone. During this meditation you’ll be given a colour to work with for the week, and a word or phrase.
  2. We will choose an oracle card to give us inspiration and direction for the week ahead
  3. We will spend ten minutes (or more if desired!) to complete our weekly journal prompt.
  4. We will spend a few moments at the end of our day in gratitude.

Start Here!

1. Guided Meditation

Take your guidance stone and sit or lie quietly. Then simply follow the sound of my voice. You’ll need seven minutes.

When the meditation is complete, write down your power colour and your power word or phrase in your journal.

  • How can you use your Power Word this week? Write a few ideas, based on your word. Trust whatever comes and write it down. Don’t overthink it.
  • What does your Colour mean to you? What words or ideas does it provoke? Write them down. This week, use this colour to boost your energy. Shut your eyes for thirty seconds and breathe it into your body whenever you feel a bit flat or low. Wear it as clothing. Choose flowers in your colour. Eat food that colour. Be creative with it.

2. Oracle Card

Take your cards, offer up a small prayer that whatever you do be for your Highest Good, and then shuffle the deck. As you’re shuffling, ask the question‘What do I most need to focus on this week?’ Say it out loud or hold it as a thought in your head. Either will work.

Choose one card. How you choose is up to you. Split the deck. Fan them out. Top or bottom. Dive right in. There is no right or wrong.

Now look at your card and hold your guidance stone in your non-writing hand. Really look at the card. Don’t use the book or the ‘proper’ meaning. We are being intuitive here, people! What stands out for you in the picture? What thoughts and ideas do the images provoke? Take a minute or two and write those thoughts down. I know, you might feel like you’re just making it all up. That’s okay. Write anyway. Trust that there is a part of you that is wise and that has been waiting for this chance to speak with your conscious mind.

I love my oracle card this week. The words at the bottom of the card have no bearing on what has come through for me. The images evoke my memories of the Elder Elephant of Chiang Mai, one of my Aboriginal Aunties, and a burgeoning sense of hope and optimism about my future:

2015-08-29 17.53.03

3. Week Five Journal Prompt

Take some small pieces of paper and write the following phrases, one for each paper:

  • My Heart
  • My Body
  • My Spirit
  • My Creativity
  • My Self Image
  • My Relationships
  • My Personal Magic
  • My Future

If there is anything else that you want to add in, go ahead and do that!

2015-08-29 17.30.36

Place the scraps of paper in a bowl or hat, or even in your lap. Breathe in your Power Word. Breathe in your Colour.  Ask for guidance in knowing what most needs healing in your life. Then draw one scrap of paper out.

Now journal about your choice. What do you need to do to help heal this aspect of yourself? Write the wisdom out that is already within you. Trust that you know what is most needed, or what your next step can be.

Write as little or as much as you want.

Do this once, or write a little every day. Whatever works for you. Choose just one, or a new one each time. Hold your guidance stone in your non-writing hand or place it on your lap or beside you while you write.Genuinely seek to connect with what matters to you.

Here’s my beginnings. I decided to draw myself at the centre of the page and then free write whatever came to me about that topic. During the week I will choose again. If a choice comes up more than once I won’t reject it. I will see it as a sign that there is more to explore about that topic:

2015-08-29 18.03.43

Using the Gratitude Rock:

The Gratitude Rock anchors positive energy and gratitude at the end of every day.  You can carry your stone with you, or leave it beside your bed.  At night, before you go to sleep, hold your Gratitude Rock in your hand.

As you hold the stone say to yourself I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life.  Then hold in your mind one or more image of a thing you have been grateful for today. Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe. Visualise a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.

Now here’s the fun bit – imagine all of the other people who are taking part in this journalling challenge with you. Once again build up a strong positive energy in your heart, and then imagine shooting a stream of golden light out into the Universe to those people.

Say Thank you.  I Bless You.  I intend for you Love, Miracles and Abundance. Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Place your rock back beside your bed, and go to sleep, cocooned in this good energy.

Happy exploring through words this week! Let your Power Word and Colour guide you. Think on the wisdom you’ve taken from your oracle card. Use it all! And remember to pop over to facebook and let us know how you’re going. I always love to hear from you.

Much love, Nicole <3 xx

Water Oracle – For Embracing Opportunity

Indian River Lagoon by Gunner VV

Indian River Lagoon by Gunner VV

“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”
~ Margaret Atwood, The Penelopiad

Water has always held energies of healing and change for me. It cleanses, nurtures and empowers. Today’s oracle is all about using water to tune in to your own deeper soul wisdom.

Is your soul parched? Do you need more of water’s healing presence in your life?

Over the next week, pay attention to water wherever it shows up. The water that comes out of the taps in your home, the water you drink, having a shower or bath, going for a swim or soaking your feet, rain falling, and bodies of water such as rivers, lagoons, lakes and oceans. See what water whispers to you. Pay attention to what it shows you, and how it makes you feel.

♥ The Healing Message and Gift of the Water♥

Each water image has a message for you. I have also selected a crystal to best support the message and energies of change in your life.  You could wear or hold this crystal, pop it in your pocket, under your pillow or beside your bed. (If you’d like to know more about working with crystals click here) The Power Word is a word to remind yourself of the quality you most need right now.  You can turn it into your own personal mantra by saying “I choose ___________ ” (insert your Power Word).

1.  Green Lake:

Message – Green Lake invites you to embrace happiness in relationships. This is the energy of lasting love visiting your life. It is a deeply heart-centred message, reminding you to start by loving and caring for yourself. From this sound relationship with self, deep and loving relationships with others will follow. Green Lake also shows you that love and friendship are moving toward you. This is a huge heart-chakra healing, shift and opening. Family healing can occur. Relationship healing can occur. Recovering from trauma can occur. There is opportunity coming for you to begin new and meaningful heart-centred relationships. Soul mate relationships and life-long friendships are being drawn to you or presented for you to renew and reinvigorate. For some it also heralds the arrival of a child.

Crystal – Green Chrysoprase

You’re being released from old patterns and holding patterns.  Expect good outcomes, legal wins, inspiration, creativity or good ideas that can positively shape a brighter future for yourself and your family. You may dream about past lives. You may begin to feel or sense energy. You’ll come to know and understand things that were previously beyond you. Intuition is a natural force, and a normal part of life. In you, intuitive abilities run deeper than for most people. It’s something that has been a part of you for lifetimes. Look to activities and teachers that help you to explore and connect with this wise part of yourself. Time in nature and on your own will help ground you and hone your sensitivity.

The Universe is calling you to step into a new phase of growth, productivity and responsibility. The key here is to have fun with it, to treat it all as a fabulous adventure rather than as something that is stressful or demanding. It’s a terrific time for having those deep and meaningful conversations with yourself or others. If you’re a writer, now is the time to finish (or start!) that book. “The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently.”
~ Pema Chödrön, When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times

Well, here we are, nearly at the end of January.

Already I feel some of you slipping into despair. Slipping into the old patterns of thoughts and behaviours that no longer serve you. Going back to what was…

Some of you are feeling muddled. Even a little defeated. You started on a high, and already you feel your momentum dwindling.

That’s okay. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Change is almost always a gradual process.

Honey, don’t give up! It’s only January and we have a whole abundant year of possibility ahead of us.

Did you go ahead and choose your power word already? If yes, take that word out and get ready to exercise it a little. If no, then go here and get your power word sorted. You can even go a little further if you want, and explore it in more depth here, connecting your word with a crystal or stone.

That tiny word or phrase you’ve chosen holds a special magic for you this year. Let’s take a few minutes and connect back into that magic, so that it appears in your life as a guiding force.

Image from danspapers.com

Here are some tips and techniques for really using that word as a tool to bring about change:

1. Hold your Power Word crystal in your cupped hands. (Didn’t do that yet? Go here and get that crystal sorted) Breathe deeply, relax your body and then think on your word. Feel that word, and the energy of the word, entering your body. Feel it as a colour. Feel it as a vital flow and force within your veins, your nerves, your brain, your cells.

2. Ask yourself, How can I best live my word today? Now wait for an answer or a knowingness from within. It might be an idea, a specific course of action, a task or an inspiration. It might be small, or grand. No matter. Sit with that guidance and then apply it in your life today. Write notes in your journal if it helps. Then take a minute or two to plan your day around these intuitive insights.

3. At random times during the course of the day, hold your crystal and connect in to your word. Holding on to the energy of that word ask yourself What do I need to do right now? Doing this will keep you focused, and help you make better choices and decisions that will manifest a stronger year for you, with more deliberate and positive results.

I’m here to keep reminding you, and supporting you. I know that 2015 can be the year where it all changes for you. But for that to happen you need to be present in your life, you need to choose differently and consciously this year. You need to empower yourself. You can do it!

I’m cheering you on. You’re not alone in this.

Lots of love, Nicole xx

Top 10 Tips for Planning a Successful 2015

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

“It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.”
~ J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit

Well here we are, in the opening pages of a fresh new year. As some of you will already know, I’ve allocated this week for my own personal planning summit. I’ve always found that a little bit of planning goes a long way towards helping me achieve my dreams and round out my year in a fulfilling way.

So, what do you need to do to make this next year really count?
Most people start the year strong, and then slacken off, so here are my top ten tips for planning a year brimful of wins!
1. Start 2015 by ditching New Year’s Resolutions, and choose a Power Word instead. A power word is a word to focus your intentions and energies, so that it informs and advises everything you do. This year my word is BUILD. Don’t have a power word of your own yet? Go here to get that power word sorted. Want to make it even more powerful? Do my power word meditation.
2. Goals for the year? Only pick one or two important things, and develop habits around these things so that it changes your life. Break your goal down into small actionable steps – daily tasks and weekly tasks, all incorporated as part of your new routine.
3. Three MITs for each day. An MIT is a Most Important Task. Each day, right from the word go, know what your three most important activities will be. Then get them done! Prioritize them to get done first in your day – then, no matter what else happens, you’ll know that you’ve got your MITs out of the way.
4. Schedule time for maintenance or delegate it out. We often forget to allocate time to the things that keep the show on the road. It could be household maintenance; cooking, cleaning, yard care, decluttering. It could be personal maintenance; trips to the dentist, getting your hair done, buying clothes, having that massage or back adjustment. It might be relationship maintenance; time with your partner, time to hang out with friends, time for family or pets. When we don’t make time for maintenance or plan for someone else to do it, we pile pressure upon ourselves because we have the expectation that we’ll get EVERYTHING done in our ‘free time’, and seriously, who ever gets much of that? (Also, if you jam free time full of jobs, it defeats the purpose of ‘free’ time.)
5. Surround yourself with great people. Get yourself a team. Your team might be coaches, advisers, staff, contractors, books, courses, online groups or friends who uplift you. It might be the babysitter, the accountant, the writing group, the yoga instructor, the super-knowledgeable guy at the health-food store. Success is so much easier when we have support. Ditch the negative people and people who bring you down. They were never going to be helpful anyway.
6. Focus. Let go of whatever is unimportant. If there’s something you really want to get done this year, put that thing ahead of everything else. Build your self-confidence by keeping that promise to yourself. Develop a track record in consistency. Every overnight success I ever met was a long time in the making, and got there through focus and consistency!
7. Remind yourself of your power word and review your goals daily. It only takes a minute, but keeping your goals uppermost in your mind will help revolutionise your choices and priorities. When you need to take action or make a decision, check in with your power word and goals. Then ask yourself if that decision or action moves you closer to or further away from your goals and power word.  Have a mini-planning review each month to keep yourself focused and organised.
8. Schedule regular R and R. Rest and Recreation. Total and complete days off. You. Your family. Unplugged. Birthdays and celebrations. Holidays. They all need to go into your calendar FIRST before your year fills up. It’s about quality of life. Right?
9. Know your starting point. Do a Year In Review for 2014. Look at what worked and what didn’t. Know what you own, and what you owe. Know your expected expenses. Know where your money came from. Look at what paid off, and what didn’t. Learn from your existing track record of successes and failures. Write it all down. That way, at the end of 2015, you’ll be able to see just how far you’ve come.
10. Slow down. Breathe deeply. Practice kindness and gratitude. Repeat. 🙂
2015 can be a real game changer for you, so dream big and give it your all.
Bless xx

Power Word Meditation for 2015

Image from artofhealthfulliving.com

Image from artofhealthfulliving.com

“The more of me I be,
The clearer I can see.”
~ Rachel Archelaus

Today I’ve prepared a short guided meditation to help you to truly connect to your power word for 2015.

If you haven’t yet chosen your power word go back and choose it here.

If you have a crystal that you’d like to nominate to hold the energy of your power word, go ahead and select one. It’s also fine to do this meditation without a crystal. Just do what feels right for you.

Here’s the rock that I’m going to use in conjunction with my power word in 2015:

2014-12-30 20.41.18

It’s a banded milky quartz and fire quartz from the Gibb River in the Kimberley. The stone is river smoothed, but pock-marked and imperfect, and it still holds tiny traces of dirt from the muddy river bank where I found it.

My power word for 2015 is BUILD and when I hold this stone I feel that energy of building. My stone has dirt still embedded in its cracks, it is solid and well used, and it feels honest somehow. The bands of colour in the stone remind me of the need for me to take small but consistent steps. The darker thicker layer at the bottom of the stone prompts me to build solid foundations.

Use your intuition and I know you’ll be guided to the right crystal choice. Feel free to post a pic and your power word over on our facebook page so we can share a little good energy for the build-up to 2015.

I also encourage you to keep a journal handy so that you can record any insights after your power word meditation is finished.

4cc6026d7b09e875ffe2d00fd12b4baf

Guided Meditation.

Read through the simple instructions first, before completing this activity in your own time.

Hold your crystal in your cupped hands and close your eyes. Spend a minute relaxing your body and then bring your attention to your power word.

Imagine your word as a colour. Imagine your word as an energy.

Notice where in your body you feel this word.

Now ask yourself ‘How can this word help me in 2015?’

Sit or lie quietly, holding your crystal, and open yourself to any answers, insights or images that come. Keep asking yourself that question. Wait for more answers, each time allowing yourself to go deeper.

When you are done, bring your attention to the crystal. Visualise the colour and energy of your word enter the stone. See the word shining brightly inside your stone. Then see your word shining brightly in you – in your heart and in your mind.

When you’re ready, bring your attention back into the room and record any insights or understandings in your journal.

During 2015, try to do this simple meditation weekly to help keep you focused and on track.

Choosing your Power Word for 2015

“The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms.”
~ Socrates

2015 is almost upon us, and already I can feel the opportunity and potential transformation that this new year brings.

Choosing a power word will help me to focus, and make the most of 2015’s energy.

Why a power word?

I long ago gave away the practice of multiple New Years Resolutions. Just the thought of it is overwhelming. You know; all the things you are going to do, all the things you are no longer going to do – and then dividing those up into areas for finances, family, health, spirituality, matters of the heart, interests and hobbies, professional and personal development, global domination and so on.

For the past few years I’ve gone with a far simpler system. I’ve narrowed my resolutions down to one word. My power word for the year.

Every time I think of that word I will be reminded of my intentions for 2015. I can hold that word up and use it to evaluate my thoughts and my actions, so that I can determine if I am moving towards or away from the energy of this word, this quality I want more of in my life.

For 2015 my power word is BUILD.

Build is a highly emotive word for me. To me, it is rich with action and result. It speaks to me of new beginnings, of strengthening what is already good, and of creation. It feels empowering. It energises and inspires me.

I can build on my good health. I can build my strength. I can build my energy.

I can build my business. I can build my tribe. I can build new books, new programs, new courses. I can build my team. I can build my relationships. I can build my life.

With every action, choice or decision I make in 2015 I can now ask myself if that is building my wellness, my business, my dreams, my abundance.

I’m thrilled with my power word. I know it’s going to help keep me focused and on track this year.

Now let’s work out what your word is.

JOURNAL ACTIVITY:

Finding your Power Word for 2015 is simply a matter of exploring what’s important to you. Is there a recurrent theme in your life you’d like to put more attention to, an area you’d like to shine in, or a dream that never gets air time?

Or is it an energy, a philosophy, a verb that calls you to action?

Use the following Questions to help you arrive at your own Power Word or Power Phrase ( a Power Phrase has more than one word!)

  1. What’s the one key area of your life, that if you put purpose, passion and action to, would move you to a better place by the year’s end? Only choose one area. If you actually make all the change and improvement you need before the year is finished you can give yourself a well-deserved break, or choose another word!
  2. What’s an energy or philosophy that inspires and motivates you?
  3. If you had this change or this energy in your life, what would your life look like?
  4. Write a list of positive words and phrases that embody for you the quality, activities, knowledge and actions of this key area.
  5. Choose one simple word or phrase that sums up this energy for you.

list-of-positive-words

Once you have your Power Word, commit it to memory. Write it in your diary. Place it on post-it-notes around your house, make it your screen saver – in short immerse yourself in this word, and the meaning of this word for you.

Let this one word remind you about what’s important to you this coming year.  Let this one word help you define and transform your life!

“As far as her mom was concerned, tea fixed everything. Have a cold? Have some tea. Broken bones? There’s a tea for that too. Somewhere in her mother’s pantry, Laurel suspected, was a box of tea that said, ‘In case of Armageddon, steep three to five minutes’.”
~ Aprilynne Pike, Illusions

Will you join me for a cup of tea and a little magic?

What’s your Power Word for 2014?

“The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms.”
~ Socrates

I long ago gave away the practice of multiple New Years Resolutions. Just the thought of it overwhelms me. You know; all the things you are going to do, all the things you are no longer going to do – and then dividing those up into areas  for finances, family, health, spirituality, matters of the heart, interests and hobbies, professional and personal development, global domination and so on.

Living with Lyme I have so little energy to waste on superfluous things. And lists like that exhaust me.

Last year I ditched the concept of resolutions altogether and went with a far simpler system. I narrowed my resolutions down to one word. A Power Word.

In 2013, my power word was HEALTH.

For 2014 my power word is PROSPER.

Every time I think of my word I am reminded of my intentions for 2014. I can hold up the word PROSPER and use it to evaluate my actions and decisions so that I may determine if I am moving towards or away from the energy of this word, this quality I want more of in my life.

Prosper to me is not actually anything to do with money, although money is a part of prosperity. To prosper is to add to, to succeed, to do well, to thrive.

With every action, choice or decision I make in 2014 I can now ask myself if it will prosper or diminish me.

It’s so easy to be guided by my power word. I simply think of my word and then apply it to any situation:

Will this meal prosper me (support my health and my healing efforts) or diminish (sabotage, weaken or lessen) me?

Will a nap prosper me or reduce me?

Will exercise today prosper me or weaken me?

Which of these work activities shall prosper me most, today and in times to come?

I’m thrilled with my power word. I know it’s going to help keep me focused and on track this year.

Now let’s work out what your word is.

Finding your Power Word for 2014 is simply a matter of exploring what’s important to you. Is there a recurrent theme in your life you’d like to put more attention to, an area you’d like to shine in, or a dream that never gets air time?

Use the following Questions to help you arrive at your own Power Word or Power Phrase ( a Power Phrase has more than one word!)

  1. What’s the one key area of your life, that if you put purpose, passion and action to, would move you to a better place by the year’s end? Only choose one area. If you actually make all the change and improvement you need before the year is finished you can give yourself a well-deserved break, or choose another word!
  2. If you had this change in your life, what would your life look like?
  3. Write a list of positive words and phrases that embody for you the quality, activities, knowledge and actions of this key area.
  4. Choose one simple word or phrase that sums up this energy for you.

Once you have your Power Word, commit it to memory. Write it in your diary. Place it on post-it-notes around your house, make it your screen saver – in short immerse yourself in this word, and the meaning of this word for you.

Let this one word remind you about what’s important to you this year.  Let this one word help you define and transform your life!

What’s your Power Word for 2013?

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

The New Year – most people try to jam it full of resolutions.  All the things you are going to do.  All the things you are no longer going to do.

It’s become quite vogue-ish to create lists of resolutions for the key areas of your life. A list for finances, family, health, spirituality, matters of the heart, interests and hobbies, professional and personal development.

I don’t know about you, but for me that’s a little exhausting.

And another thing…

How am I ever going to remember all of those resolutions in my ‘key’ areas?
