That Asking Space

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Always say “yes” to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? what could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say “yes” to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.”
~ Eckhart Tolle

I was listening to a friend talk about her business direction and her life path yesterday. She is a wise and passionate woman, and right now she’s going through a major life change. Coincidentally, or not, she’s also waking up spiritually.

One thing in particular stayed with me long after our conversation was finished. At one point, her voice trembling a little, she had spoken a sentence with a fervent conviction. That sentence was a plea and a prayer all rolled into one. It was not directed at me, or the other friends who were present. It was directed at the Universe.

I stood there, and I thought, ‘Just show me what I am supposed to do – show me why I’m here.’

I felt a thrill of recognition at my friend’s words, and I understood that her sincere asking of that question had already put events in motion that, one day soon, will show up as answers in her life. I knew that because that’s how things happened for me, when I’d asked something similar.

Have you ever found yourself in that space? That asking space where you know you have a purpose, you feel you are here for a reason, and your brain can’t make sense of it even though your heart is urging you forward?

I have.

Many years ago, shortly before I moved to the Kimberley and experienced my psychic awakening I had felt that calling in every cell of my body, but I didn’t know what it meant. I only knew that I could no longer ignore it.

One night I stood outside in the moonlight on Fraser Island where I was then living, I looked up into the sky and I surrendered. I gave up the plans I’d been hauling around in my head because I knew they didn’t fit who I was becoming. Instead I said  ‘Use me. Use my life. Use my talents and gifts. Work through me. Whatever it is, I’ll honour that. Just show me.’

I didn’t get an answer that night. But for the first time in a long time I went to bed feeling calm and centred.

Somewhere in the cosmos came the whir of gears and the opening and closing of doors, and soon enough I found myself on a new path, with a clear purpose – it’s one I’ve been living ever since.

So if you ever find yourself in that same space, that asking space, don’t be afraid. Wait til you feel it with your whole heart, surrender yourself to that space and put your question out into the universe. Know that it will be answered. Know that once called, you will be claimed.

Bless xx

Are you brave enough to follow The Call?

Image from dailyorganisedchaos.com

Have you ever had a crazy, crazy hunch, or an idea you just can’t get out of your head?

Maybe in the middle of being a Dentist you start thinking of Art School.

I mean REALLY thinking about Art School.

You become a closet hoarder of Art School brochures, you haunt their on-line curriculum, and while you spend your days peering into people’s mouths, part of you is dreaming about how different your life could look…

It goes from being a wild idea to the tender beginnings of a plan. (For more information on how to protect that tender plan or idea read this!)

Or you wake up thinking about Peru.

Of all places!

Your whole life Peru hasn’t even been on the radar and now it’s everywhere. There are posters of Peru in the Travel Agent’s window, your friend lends you a book about Peru, there’s a show about it on the Discovery Channel. Your dreams are filled with llamas and Machu Picchu.

You can’t explain why, but suddenly you have an overwhelming urge to go there.

It’s known in my world as ‘The Call’.

Maybe it’s God. Spirit. Angels. Your wise Higher Self. Guides.  Your own heart…

Whatever it is, it’s calling you, and it won’t let up.

Art School.  Peru.  Walking across Spain. Entering that competition. Calling your friend from College all those years ago. That idea for the book/TV show/film/restaurant/rock band/charity/house makeover/epic adventure.

You find the seed of a strange and unexpected idea inside you, that grows into something bigger.  It gets reflected back to you from all angles. Waking, sleeping and everything in-between – there it is. The Call.

And in my experience, when you follow that Call, life begins to gift you all manner of support, synchronicity, helpful people and lucky breaks.

You meet your soul mate.  You finally work out what you want to be when you grow up.  Your spiritual and psychic gifts kick in. You do that thing, that leads to the thing (and there could be a bit of a chain of that happening, so insert extra ‘things’ here if necessary) that gets you to this amazing new place of flow and happiness in your life.

You look back later, and see how it all came together; how your life changed direction, how endings and beginnings merged to provide you with a clear path, and a deeper understanding.

When you get The Call will you pay attention? Are you brave enough to say yes? Are you bold enough to follow your heart?

♥ Because what will your life look like if you don’t?

What do you have to lose? ♥

Let the Teacher appear…

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. ~ Henry David Thoreau

If you have a dream, chances are you’ll need help to get there. Whether you want to write a book, climb a mountain, win Olympic Gold, speak a new language or improve your health, your best bet will be to attract a good teacher into your life – one who will believe in you, and have the ability to help you to grow and to shine.

Sometimes the only thing that holds you back from success is not a lack of talent or good ideas, it’s a lack of knowledge, skills or techniques.  But that doesn’t have to be an obstacle – trust that there truly is someone or something out there in the Universe that can help you bridge that knowledge gap. Someone will have walked that road before you, and they’ll be willing to show you how to follow in their footsteps…

You might need a coach, a mentor or a teacher. Maybe a course or a book will help.  It might even be a job, a radio interview you just happen to tune in to, a magazine article or a useful suggestion from a stranger.

Know that the Universe is listening, and that it responds to your call.

Let the Universe know that you’re ready.  Ask for support.  Ask to be shown.  And then trust that the perfect person or information will show up in your life.

I’ve created a short guided meditation to faciltate this process, and help you draw that teacher or resource to you.  All you need to do is listen, and stay open to the possibility of help turning up in your life:

Nicole Cody’s Guided Meditation for calling Teachers into your life

Believe in yourself.  Believe in your dreams.  Allow yourself to be magnetic to change and growth.  Now is your time to shine! ♥ xx

Sometimes Your Only Job is to Ask for Help

Problems are not the problem; coping is the problem. ~ Virginia Satir

I have a friend going through a tough time right now. For her everything seems to be going wrong. There are substance abuse issues, and she thought by cleaning up and getting that out of the picture, somehow everything would be fixed.  But the addictions only masked pain, hidden traumas, and a deep inability to cope with problems from the past.

We all have our strengths, and we all have our breaking points.  What cripples me might be a walk in the park for you. Still, comparing ourselves to others never helps.

When you have gotten to a place in your life where something isn’t working, where nothing is working, where you feel backed into a corner, helpless, weak, angry, resentful, disempowered or worse – when your self esteem is through the floor and you just can’t think straight anymore…

YOUR ONLY JOB IS TO ASK FOR HELP

IF you could have fixed it, if you’d known what to do, you would have done it.  The pain you’re in is because you DON’T know how to help yourself.

That’s okay.

YOUR ONLY JOB IS TO ASK FOR HELP

There are so many wonderful people in the world who have trained specifically to help you with your problem. They may have even been in your shoes.

When you’re this far down, and you are just not coping, there is someone out there who will know what to do.  Reach out you hand.  Ask.

Whether it will be a quick fix, or something that takes time to sort out, you don’t need to know what the answer is, you only need to know that someone else will. Whatever you are going through, someone else has walked that road before you.  And one of them will have a map to get you out of there. In fact, it’s probably their calling.

One day, it might be yours.
