It’s Okay To Ask for Help

Problems are not the problem; coping is the problem.

~ Virginia Satir

Hey, Lovelies.

I know, I know. You are great at helping others.

So good at it.

You are also good at advising others to seek help. Because, we all need it from time to time, right?

I also know that when we are great at helping others, we often suck at asking for help for ourselves.

In fact, sometimes – when we have been used to being the problem-solver, or that strong person and the backstop for everyone else – we don’t even THINK to ask for help. We’re used to doing it on our own, figuring it out for ourselves, and getting it done.

I am sure you are capable in most areas of your life. But what about the parts of your life that aren’t working?

Sometimes the reason you aren’t getting to something is because you simply don’t know how.

Or maybe you don’t want to, or it’s so far down your priority list that you won’t get to it in this lifetime…

That’s okay. That’s life! Can you ask someone to teach you, show you, do it for you?
Because you know, don’t you that

It can be such a relief to have someone come and fix the thing, or help you in your life, when you have not been able to easily get it sorted yourself. In fact, most times you’ll wonder why you didn’t get help earlier.

All that wasted worry energy can be freed up to be put towards something else in your life. Hooray!

Sometimes, though, it’s bigger than that. Messier than that. Harder than that.

When you have gotten to a place in your life where something isn’t working, and where you feel completely stuck, a failure, backed into a corner, helpless, weak, angry, resentful, disempowered or worse – when your self esteem is through the floor and you just can’t think straight anymore…

If you could have fixed it, if you’d known what to do, and if it were that easy, you would have done it already. No-one is dysfunctional or miserable because they want to be that way. The pain you’re in is because you DON’T know how to help yourself.

That’s okay.

There are so many wonderful people in the world who have trained specifically to help you with your problem. They may have even been in your shoes.

When you’re this far down, and you are just not coping, there is someone out there who will know what to do. Reach out you hand. Ask.

Whether it will be a quick fix, or something that takes time to sort out, you don’t need to know what the answer is, you only need to know that someone else will. Whatever you are going through, someone else has walked that road before you. And one of them will have a map to get you out of there. In fact, it’s probably their calling.

One day, it might be yours.

Today, I’m encouraging you to look at your life, and to ask for the help you need to get things sorted.
I’m holding you in my prayers and meditations, and cheering you on.

You’ve got this.
