It’s a day of Family First for me!

“I don’t care about whose DNA has recombined with whose. When everything goes to hell, the people who stand by you without flinching–they are your family.”
~  Jim Butcher

Ben drove us to the city yesterday so I could finally have some decent internet connection. We’d planned a million things for the next few days but suddenly that’s all changed.

Just as we arrived at our front gate we had a phone call to say that Ben’s mum was vomiting, confused and about to be transported by ambulance to hospital.

And Rufous our young pup has taken a tumble and hurt his back leg, which now requires a vet visit.

So last night and today and perhaps the days ahead for us will be family first. Ben’s mum is 92 and frail. I need to pop around to her home early this morning to clean. We need to take Rufous to the vet. We need to go up to the hospital. We need to be with our family.

Hugs yours today, okay? Or give them a call. Whether they are blood-relatives or animal friends or people who’ve come to mean as much to you. We’re all each other has, and in the end, we’re all that matter.

Much love to you, Nicole  xx

The Energies of November – 2017

“…the whole ‘know thyself’ thing isn’t a journey to a fixed destination. Learning about myself changes me, forcing me to learn more. ‘Know thyself’ isn’t a goal; it’s a road.”
~  Garon Whited

Hello, Lovelies :)

Here we are at November. Energetically it’s a month for knowing ourselves deeply, for healing old hurts and for prioritising and redesigning our lives so that they better represent the person we are and the person we want to become.

That’s important work at any time, but it becomes all the more significant as we realise that the work we do in November is setting us up for the year ahead. The actions we take, the choices we make, and the healing, planning and dreaming we do clears the way for 2018, allowing us to consciously begin manifesting the kind of year we intend for ourselves.

Cards for the Month:

I’ve chosen two cards for November for you: one from the Osho Zen Tarot Deck, and one from Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Oracle. Please note I don’t use these cards in the conventional way, but rather as a stimulus for channelled information.

Here is what I have received from each card:

“Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it.”
Salvador Dalí

November invites you to embrace your faults, and to see your individuality as a good thing. There is no point in trying to conform and losing yourself in the process. Your authority and integrity come from that place inside you where you can be vulnerable and honest – where we get the real you and not some slick marketing promise, or you trying desperately hard to be someone that you’re not.

What you love, who you love and what makes you happy is what’s important. Not what other people think. Not what other people may try to impose upon you. Embrace the yearnings of your heart this month. Stop fighting them and surrender instead. Make your life suit you and support you. Wear clothe that express your personal style, listen to the music you love, rearrange your home and your routines so that what matters to you is better represented.  You’ll be glad you did.

November is an excellent month for healing the hurts and low-self-worth issues that stem from the bullying or judgments of others directed at you as a child, or through your adult years until now. November teaches us where to stand strong, and where we will be better with some flexibility in our lives. We get to define or redefine our priorities. Much of this can happen on its own as you experience emotional shift, but if you know this is a major issue for you seek professional support and get the help you need to move on.

When you live authentically, magic happens. You become magnetic to the right lover, the best fit with friends, the opportunities that actually suit your talents and abilities. November encourages you to move from a limited or stuck version of yourself, or a small version of yourself, to one that is vibrant with your true colours, and full of kindness and possibility.

The second card I’ve chosen is Mending. It’s a time for co-operation, forgiveness, shared vision and tending our dreams.

“Sometimes, reaching out and taking someone’s hand is the beginning of a journey. At other times, it is allowing another to take yours.” Vera Nazarian

In November our self-worth and confidence grow, for no apparent reason except that enough time has been lost in the mistaken belief that we are somehow not enough.

We are supported to acknowledge and accept that there are people in our lives who once hurt us but who have changed, and we see where we may reconnect or mend relationships, letting the past drop away behind us. The blinds fall from our eyes and we also see the relationships and situations that are damaging to our well-being, no matter how positively these things may be viewed by people looking in on our lives. We come to see what is good for us, and what is poison. We’ll see where we need to act, ending or redeeming relationships. We’ll see where we need to forgive ourselves or ask for forgiveness.

In all areas of our life Mending encourages us to repair, improve, make-over and heal ourselves where our life is no longer pleasing or functional. We are shown that it is up to us to choose joy, and to craft a life for ourselves that has beauty and meaning.

It’s a fabulous month for planning, and for all forms of self-improvement. We’re invited to put energy into the things that are dear to us and to work together on projects and dreams.

Best crystals this month?

Green Aventurine and Iolite.

Green Aventurine helps us connect to joy, optimism and self-confidence.It fosters self-love and gratitude for ourselves

Iolite is a mystical stone that helps us to illuminate what’s hidden within ourselves. A stone for self-exploration and for helping us to find our way.

Essential oils to support your journey?

Young Living’s Acceptance and Joy essential oil blends would be my picks for November. Use Acceptance for emotional healing – diffusing anger and pain, ending procrastination and opening to new directions and opportunities. Joy opens our hearts and helps us to re-engage with the flow of life. It is uplifting, comforting and empowering. Dab a drop of either oil on your Crown Chakra, back of neck, wrists and the soles of your feet, inhale directly or add to your diffuser.

Want to make your own blend? Each of the following oils will work beautifully on their own for you this month, but they’ll also make a delicious combination for diffusing. Vetiver will calm and ground us, promoting emotional balance, Lavender keeps us in flow and relaxed,  Ylang Ylang opens our hearts and is supportive when we feel anxious or overwhelmed, and Bergamot for joy, gratitude and optimism.  To diffuse add 2 or three drops of each oil to your room or personal diffuser. You can find the oils here.

Need some extra encouragement, support or inspiration for November or the year ahead?

I have lots of ideas and events that can help you!

  1. If you jump over to my Cauldrons and Cupcakes Facebook page at 9am Brisbane time today I’m doing a Facebook Live Event to tell you more about the month ahead. It’s totally free and I’d love to see you there. Can’t make it then? Don’t worry. You can catch the replay!

All you need to do is come visit my blog to access it, or if you subscribe to my blog (link on home page) it will get delivered straight to your inbox.
  3. #GeSHiDoMo 2017 – (Which stands for Get Sh*t Done Month 2017) This crazy November-long online program and community costs just $22 Australian dollars and it begins today! We ran this last year as a one-of thing but had so many requests to do it again that we’ve made it an annual event. I’ve created a simple system for planning and actioning your To-Do List in November. It’s a month of fun activities and support to help you get a serious amount of sh*t or a serious amount of self-care done. Lots of videos to help you, and Facebook Live sessions with me. There are some great prizes, and a really good bunch of people there. You’ll love it! You can read more about it and come join us from here.
  4. Soul Sanctuary Retreat – Working With Crystals – Do you need some time for recharging, reconnecting and being re-inspired? In late November I’ll be running my final residential retreat for 2017 in beautiful Byron Bay, Australia. It’s a special time of year for my team and I. We plan this retreat, no matter what the content focus might be, as a week of Soul Sanctuary – time for self-nurture, friendship, reflection, planning and the foundation of some truly life-changing habits. This year’s theme is ‘Working With Crystals’. I’ll be teaching you foundation skills for meditation and self-care, intuitive practices including card readings, a bunch of stuff on how to choose and use crystals, as well as lovely crafty stuff like making your own crystal tools, essences, jewellery and mandalas. We’ll also be using November’s energies to plan for 2018. 2018’s heart-centred energies support connection, collaboration, communication and community. It will be a year for expressing ourselves in the world, for starting and growing life-changing projects, for truly becoming more and offering more of our gifts, talents and wisdom. This Retreat will help you to understand the energies and opportunities of 2018, and get you started with a plan, a full spiritual tool-kit and a personal session with me, focusing on how to make the most of the year ahead. More info here. We still have a few places left, but please act quickly.
  5. And save the dates for the following goodness:

Is Work Moving You Toward Or Away From What You Want? – Monday Oracle 10 April 2017

“I tend to be… they say ‘workaholic,’ which I just find to be ‘motivated.’ ”
~ Sarah Hay

Hello, Lovelies!

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen this Monday, and my take on the energetic outlook for the week ahead. I use any oracle or tarot cards shown as a prompt for channelled messages and my own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book. ‘Workaholic’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for April, you’ll remember that April has strong energy for believing in ourselves and reclaiming our direction.

So, what gifts does Workaholic bring for you this week?

This is a week for honestly evaluating how we spend our time.

Ask anyone who truly loves what they do, and they will most likely tell you that they work long hours, that they often wake up thinking about their work, and go to bed still thinking about it too. That’s not workaholism – that’s passion. That’s total engagement with an idea or a vision. Where others might see sacrifice or lack of balance, that person sees only their calling and being in flow with that thing. They are compelled and it adds to rather than subtracts from their lives.

Have you ever lost track of time while doing something you enjoy? That’s the kind of energy I mean.

Some of us work hard because there are bills to pay. We end up working in jobs we hate to pay for things we can’t really afford. Life becomes an endless rat race.

Then there’s work as a drug. Every spare hour is filled with some kind of job. And we are the ones who fill up those hours. This goes beyond being busy. (No, this doesn’t even have to be paid work. I’m just talking busy-ness. Even retirees can experience this.) We sign up for more and more and more. In fact, many of us have grown up believing that this is the measure of a successful person, or at least what it takes to be successful. But is it? This is workaholism – a mind-numbing addiction that is just as deadly as alcohol or drugs – because it keeps us from feeling our feelings and facing whatever it is that we are avoiding. It also ramps up our stress, weakens our bodies, invites illness and destroys lives.

Sometimes we end up in that workaholism space by choice, but often it sneaks up on us. Even people who love what they do can fall into this trap, and then find themselves facing burnout and falling out of love with their dream because they forgot to make it sustainable. Workaholism creates numbness and exhaustion so that we stop asking ourselves if this is what we want, or how we want to work and live, or if we would rather choose something else.

The energy of this week supports you asking yourself that very question. Is this the life I want for myself? Is this the work I want? Is there room in my life for living and doing what I love to do? How do I want to spend my time? What matters to me?

Find some time for yourself this week, and ask yourself those questions. And if you’re not happy with the answers begin to make some changes. Look to simplify your life, to find some time for the things that matter, and for the underestimated joy of just having spare time for living.

Helpful essential oils?

Young Living’s Clarity essential oil blend, or a combination (or singly!) of any of Basil, Bergamot, Cedarwood and Lavender. Clarity essential oil blend promotes focus and clear thinking, but it’s calming and uplifting at the same time. I love this oil, and it’s my oil of choice in my diffuser this week. You can find all the oils here.

Holding you, as always, in my thoughts, prayers and meditations, and intending for a you a life of abundance and joy, where you are no longer limited by your doubts.

All my love,

Nicole ❤ xx

Gratitude; A Way to Comfort Ourselves – Monday Oracle 27 March 2017

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
~ Oprah Winfrey

Hello, Lovelies!

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen this Monday, and my take on the energetic outlook for the week ahead. I use any oracle or tarot cards shown as a prompt for channelled messages and my own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book. ‘Gratitude’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for March, you’ll remember that March is all about creating systems and structures which make your everyday life more supported and sustainable.

So, what gifts does Gratitude bring for you this week, and how does this fit in with March’s energies?

Let’s be honest. Life can be difficult. It can be a roller coaster. Sometimes we get a run of wonderfully memorable days. Some days it seems we are stuck in an endless cycle of days we’d rather forget.

Gratitude reminds us to keep bringing our heart back to what matters most. Not just in the good times, but the bad times too. Gratitude isn’t about having a positive attitude. It’s about finding the things that can comfort or warm us, despite what else might be happening in our lives.

What matters most to you?

Who matters most to you?

Are you giving enough time to these relationships, causes and activities in your everyday world?

If not, it’s time to rewrite the script of your life so that what matters and what makes your grateful is well represented instead of something that becomes a reward at some distant time in the future after all your to-do list tasks have finally been crossed off.

Be aware too that our vulnerabilities and old hurts, especially those old wounds from childhood, are close to the surface right now. You might find yourself just a little more teary than usual. You might need a little extra quiet time to find your way forward as you finally step away from the past. You might need to break down in order to break through.

Reach out to trustworthy friends or family. Seek help if you need it. Actively work on letting go of what no longer serves you. And of course, in the midst of it all, count your blessings and cultivate gratitude for the things that matter to you in your life.

Surround yourself with what supports you and uplifts you. Do what you can to uplift others. But never at the expense of yourself.

Be gentle with yourself this week.

Supportive crystals this week?

Tourmaline in Quartz will build courage and help you to stand by your choices and decisions. Sodalite will help you to understand and speak your truth. Green Aventurine is the perfect happiness stone, helping to elevate your mood and your sense of gratitude for the everyday. Rose Quartz if you need a boost of love, kindness and nurture.

Helpful essential oils?

Young Living’s Joy or Believe essential oil blends, or  a combination (or singly!) of any of Bergamot, Basil, Ylang Ylang and Frankincense. The Joy blend is fabulous if you are feeling anxious or uncertain, or a bit sad or stuck. It’s reassuring and uplifting; wonderful for gently shifting depression and self-doubt. I often wear it as a perfume. Believe oil is a super stress-buster that boosts feel-good energies and self-esteem. It smells so uplifting and pretty too. It’s my oil of choice in my diffuser this week.

Holding you, as always, in my thoughts, prayers and meditations, and intending for a you a life of abundance and joy, where you are no longer limited by your doubts.

All my love,

Nicole ❤ xx

Why You Need Time for Yourself This Week! – Monday Oracle 20 February 2017

“Don’t die with your music still in you.”
~ Wayne Dyer

Hello, Lovelies.

It’s a big week ahead for putting your own needs front and centre in your life!

The oracle card I have chosen to guide us this week is ‘Service’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for February, you’ll remember that February is all about turning inwards, and tuning in to our own wants and needs, staying true to ourselves and our goals despite our fears or what other people may tell us. Keep that in the back of your mind as you read through the rest of this post.

So, what gifts does Service bring for you this week?

It’s a big wake-up call!

Usually (especially for Lightworkers and sensitive souls) our first thought when we think of service is to serve others.

This week, we are on notice that service must begin with us – we must look after ourselves and our own needs and dreams. This isn’t selfish. You cannot give to others from an empty cup. It’s important to fill your own cup first!

If you’re coming into this week already exhausted, take action to get this sorted out before exhaustion becomes burnout. Stubbornness might carry you through in the short-term, but if it is employed as a daily coping mechanism to push past fatigue or misery, it will never end well. Cut back your schedule. Cancel or rearrange things. Rest. Retreat. Take a ‘mental health’ day, or at least a few extra hours for yourself.

cq4c4_iviaanxn4

This week is a good time to plan for or take action on personal maintenance issues too. You know, those things that are so easy to put off, and put off… Your yearly health check or pap smear, a dental check-up, a haircut or shopping for new clothes or shoes, fixing that broken thing that you never quite get around to, getting your tax sorted. Let yourself be a priority for a change. Go do those things you’ve been avoiding or making a low priority while you run around after everyone else.

Service also reminds us that the last day of our lives is not the time to realise that we never lived true to ourselves and our dreams.  Putting the hopes, needs and dreams of other people before our own is part of the problem. When we constantly put others first, we instruct the Universe that it’s okay for us to be second best, and for our own needs to go unaddressed.

But is that really true? Are we really okay with that?

I love Wayne Dyer’s quote at the top of this page, ‘Don’t die with your music still inside you.’  We don’t know how much time we have. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. So, if there’s something inside you that needs to be expressed or experienced don’t keep putting it off. Because we all run out of time. Make a start. Let go of grand plans and just begin.

Supportive crystals this week?

Carnelian will support you if you are tired, unwell or plain burned out! Add White Howlite to this if you are struggling with depression, anxiety or overwhelm. Just pop them in your pocket, or wear them somewhere on your body. They are also good to hold in meditation or to place under your pillow before sleep. And if you’re looking for a stone to help you commit time and action to your dreams, you can’t go past Ametrine!

Helpful essential oils?

Young Living’s Joy or Common Sense essential oil blends, or  a combination (or singly!) of any of Rose, Rosemary, Lemon, Vetiver and Lavender. The Joy blend is fabulous if you are feeling anxious or uncertain, or a bit sad or stuck. It’s reassuring and uplifting; wonderful for gently shifting depression and self-doubt. I often wear it as a perfume. Common Sense oil is a super stress-buster that will help with allowing you to become clear about what you want, and to feel secure with your choices and decisions, especially around change. It’s my oil of choice in my diffuser this week.

Holding you, as always, in my thoughts, prayers and meditations, and intending for a you a life of abundance and joy, where you are no longer limited by your doubts.

All my love,

Nicole ❤ xx

Day 7 – Oracle Card Challenge

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”
~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Current Priorities

All of us have so many demands on our limited time. How do we know where to put our focus? This next exercise will help you to gain clarity around the priorities that your Soul Wisdom knows are best aligned with your Highest Good.

Here’s what you need to do.

Take your crystal, and complete this short guided meditation:

Hold your stone in your cupped hands, close your eyes, and slow your breathing. Bring white light into your body until you feel peaceful and calm. Then bring white light into the crystal too. Allow yourself to connect to the stone. You may feel it tingle, or visualise a colour in your mind’s eye. When you are ready, open your eyes. Keep your stone near you, and hold it when you write.

Now shuffle your cards, while silently asking the question to yourself ‘What do my current priorities need to be?’

When you have shuffled the cards and they feel ‘done’, select up to five cards using the method that feels right for you. You may find that just one card will do the job and give you the insight that you need. If not, choose a maximum of five cards to show you where to better place the focus in your life.

Position the cards face up in front of you, in the order in which you drew them.

Clear your mind by closing your eyes and taking one deep breath in and then out. Open your eyes again. Take a minute and look at the first picture. Allow that the first card will be the most important priority. All others will follow, and some may even be a support focus for that first card. You’ll know if that is true for you.

What stands out for you today? Is it an image or a colour? Is it a number or a word? What are your first impressions? What thoughts come into your mind? Work through each of the cards one by one. Take a minute or two and write some stream-of-consciousness thoughts down for each card. Don’t censor or judge them. Trust the process. Draw a second card for clarification on any of your primary cards if you need to.

Finally, read back over what you have written. Pay attention to which order the priorities have shown themselves. Know that there may be more work for you to do here, exploring these things after our challenge has finished.

Thinking of you, and sending love,

Nicole <3 xx

Reality Check – A Reminder of What Really Matters

Image from Mummy Quotes

Image from Mummy Quotes

“Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.”
~ Stephen R. Covey

I have a beautiful girlfriend who is the ultimate career woman. She has worked for the same corporation for 25 years, starting at the very bottom and working her way up. She is one of those women who has climbed the ladder and broken through the glass ceiling. For twenty five years she has devoted herself to this organisation, and enjoyed a meteoric rise. She’s a stunning project manager, and she gets things done. They always call on her in a crisis. There is always a crisis. She works insane hours, lives and breathes company business, and is paid accordingly.

In the middle of this she has managed to complete a degree, an MBA, and to marry and have two children. She always wanted to have children but by the time she and her husband started trying for babies in her late thirties, pregnancy just wasn’t happening. She has two beautiful daughters, aged 3 and 6, both from IVF, which was a long and difficult process. It took many attempts to bring those little girls into the world.

No, this is not a post about leaving babies til the last minute.

It’s a post about leaving life til the last minute.

You see, my friend sent me a frantic text yesterday morning, and then called me as soon as she knew I was awake.

I haven’t seen her for a couple of years. You know how things are when people get busy.

She had news. The worst kind. She’s been diagnosed with aggressive and advanced ovarian cancer. It’s inoperable. They think she may have twelve weeks to live, give or take. There’s no time left for treatment. Only for palliative care.

She started losing weight eighteen months ago and put it down to stress. But secretly she was also thrilled. She had put on plenty of weight during each of her pregnancies and had never been able to get it back off again. Still, her tummy stayed round and bloated.

She hasn’t felt her best since the babies were born. But that’s normal for busy mums, isn’t it? Anyway, she always said to me that she was too busy to have the luxury of a sick day.

My friend left it so long to do something about the pelvic pain, the back aches, the bladder leaks, the fatigue, that when she finally made the time to see a doctor it was all too late. She is riddled with cancer. It’s in her bowel, her brain, her liver, her lungs, her bones. Everywhere.

What should she do, my friend asked me. She has recently moved her husband, two little children and their nanny to yet another new city while she works on a difficult merger. They haven’t really settled in yet. She began to tell me all about the work…

Screw the work, I said. Come home. Come home to your family and your husband’s family. Come home to the people who love you, and who can take care of you all. Forget the responsibilities. Now is the time to focus on what truly matters. Living. Loving. Drinking up every last moment. Creating the best kinds of memories. Gifting yourself and your loved ones the time you have left.

She kept crying, over and over, I thought I’d have more time. God, it almost undid me.

All her working life my friend has put things to one side; holidays, celebrations, lazy Sundays, time out with family and friends, because she though that one day she’d be in a magical place where there was plenty of time, and plenty of money and plenty of life left to enjoy all those good things.

heart

Life is so short. So precious. None of us ever really know how much time we have.

Oh, it breaks my heart, dear ones. It just breaks my heart.

I’m going to take a few days off blogging, while I support my friend through this next part of her journey.

Please, look after yourselves. Look after your health and your loved ones. Work out what matters and spend time on those relationships and activities. It’s the journey, as much as the destination. You know that, don’t you?

That great behemoth of a corporation my friend works for will get by just fine without her. She might not have realised it, but she is expendable to them, although I’m sure they’ll miss her, and her talents.

Her husband and kids? I’m sure they can’t say the same.

My friend, ever the one to seek productive outcomes from any situation, asked me to write this post. She hoped it may serve as a reality check for people like her, who’ve strayed too far from what really counts.

Will you hold her and her family in your thoughts and prayers? Her name’s Julie, and she sure could use a little extra love and light right now.

Thank you.
