If You Weren’t Afraid

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.”

Anais Nin

If you weren’t afraid, what would you do?

Who would you be?

How would you live?

If you weren’t afraid, what would you differently today?

Tomorrow?

Close your eyes.

Imagine you were already doing that thing, and that the outcome was in your favour. The result was good. The decision or action was positive. Success!

Feel it in your body.

See it in your mind’s eye.

Make it as real in your imagination as it possibly could be.

Know that this imagined life is possible.

And you can start moving towards it today.

But what about your fear?

Simply sit your fear on a seat in the corner of your mind, give it five minutes to tell you all the reasons why you shouldn’t do this thing, thank it for wanting to keep you safe, and then…

Go make a small start. Do the thing that scares you, or take a step towards it.

You might not ever get rid of your fears, but you can learn to manage them. Fear usually happens when we move outside our comfort zone. When we have conquered a fear and keep moving forward, a new one will come to take its place as, once again, we stand at the edge of someplace unfamiliar. Even the simple knowledge of that process can help you deal with your fear and anxiety in a better way, so that you don’t stay stuck.

So does the knowledge that just about everyone who has the thing you want experienced fear too. But they moved through it and kept going, just like you are going to do.

Keep visiting that vision in your mind, of you, successful and beyond that place of fear. Then keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I think you’ll surprise even yourself with how far you might go toward making your dream reality.

I’m cheering you on, and sending gentle hugs of encouragement, keep me posted on your progress, Nicole xx
