Stones, Crystals and Meditation Magic

I have long been a meditator. In fact it has been a daily practice for me since adolescence. Even with my recent bout of ill-health I haven’t missed a day. It’s as much a part of my life as sleeping or breathing.

As I was walking along the beach on Monday morning I came upon a particular rock. It’s just a stone. But it holds the energies of the ocean and the earth. It is an anchoring stone. And it comes from Byron Bay, which is a place of great healing and transformation. As I held it in my hand I knew that I would meditate with it, and that this stone would hold those energies in a way that could be transferred to someone else.

Which gave me an idea…

I have decided to dedicate a meditation each day of the month to a chosen stone and a crystal companion. The stone becomes the Anchoring Stone, which helps us to stay grounded, clear and calm, connecting into our bodies, and to the earth and nature. The crystal becomes the Connection Stone, enabling us to connect into our intuition, Higher Self, Guides, Ancestors and the Divine.

I will use the energies of the month to support me as I meditate with intention, infusing the stones with that energy.

Here are the stones I will work with every day in July:

The energies and intention I will infuse into the Byron Bay Beach Rock will be that the holder comes to know and understand their body and how to honour and take care of it to give lasting health and wellbeing. This knowledge will also contribute to a state of inner calm and of self-care.

The energies and intention I shall infuse into the Tasmanian Quartz Crystal will be a deep connection to the user’s ancestral line, intuition, Guides, Angels, the Divine – facilitating a stronger understanding of the user’s individual talents and gifts, and those that have been passed down through their ancestral lineage. All of this will help to give clarity of life path.

My team will devise a new competition each month to enable someone from our Cauldrons and Cupcakes community to win the stones as well as a meditation recorded just for them.

All of the love and energy and intention that I pour into these stones daily will then be available for the user in their own meditation. It’s also okay if you’ve never meditated before. I’ll send you instructions!

I’m so glad that this idea found me, so that the right stones can find you.

The Strength Of Your Song – Monday Oracle 12 June 2017

Hello, Lovelies!

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen this Monday, and my take on the energetic outlook for the week ahead. I use any oracle or tarot cards shown as a prompt for channelled messages and my own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book. ‘Dissipating’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for June, you’ll remember that June is a gentle month of revitalisation, redirection and emotional and physical nourishment.

Now, lets look at the gifts Dissipating brings this week.

We are cautioned against all forms of dissipation this week.

What does that mean? Dissipation can be defined as an act of diffusion (watering down), dispersion (scattering) or of wasteful expenditure.

In a month that is all about self-nurture and attending to our own priorities we are reminded not to bleed out for others at the expense of ourselves. Don’t end up with no fuel in the tank for what matters. Don’t be busy for busy’s sake. Don’t talk endlessly about the thing you want to do without actually taking any action steps towards it. As my darling guide Rollo often reminds me, don’t feed the chickens (ie don’t waste time helping people who don’t appreciate it, or on people or tasks that time suck – taking you away from important priorities). Chickens are never satisfied and will keep pecking away at you and invite their friends for a free feed too!

 

It’s wise to be mindful of whom you share your stories, hopes and ideas with. Don’t choose people who will put you and your ideas down, or be less than supportive. If you don’t know how your idea will be received then keep it to yourself until it has taken enough form that it won’t easily be knocked down or ruined by the criticism (even well-meaning!) or negativity of others.

And do you see that beautiful golden bird in the bottom left of the card? That’s YOUR bird. If you listen carefully the bird will sing you a song that creates a map for heart happiness. Problem is, most of us have trained that bird to sing songs to make everyone else happy. What could you learn about yourself if you opened up to that magical song this week? How could that change your life?

It’s a very important week for tuning in, for endings and fresh beginnings, for picking things up again, for turning in new directions, for resurrecting what never got finished but that meant the world to you.

Supportive crystals this week?

Blue Quartz calms our fears and helps us to trust ourselves and our dreams. Green Chrysoprase opens our heart and helps with emotional healing and self-acceptance. Black Tourmaline is great if you have boundary issues.  Fluorite encourages us to see the possibilities in ourselves, especially in regard to creativity or business.

Helpful essential oils?

Young Living’s Abundance essential oil blend, or a combination (or singly!) of any of Orange, Geranium, Frankincense and Myrrh. Abundance opens us to the flow of life, helping us to act from a place of love, trust and benevolence. Just rub a drop together in the palms of your hands and then breathe in and wipe through your aura.  Dab a few drops on your wrists or over your heart – its warm, spicy aroma makes it a great perfume or cologne. A few drops in the bath are wonderful too. You may want to dilute with a drop or two of a base oil such a sweet almond or coconut before applying directly to the skin.  It’s my oil of choice in my diffuser again this week. Chakra Journal Challenge – Week 5 – Heart Chakra

Hello, and welcome to Week Five of our Chakra Journal Challenge!

Every Tuesday in March and April I will post a Journal Challenge for you, based upon a journey through the main chakras. You don’t need to know anything about journalling, chakras, crystals, oracle cards or energy work. I’ll explain everything that you need to do each week. Then you’ll have a week to complete the simple activities I share.

If you’re only just joining us please go back and read my Orientation Post first.

About the Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra is located right where our heart is, in the centre of our chests. The colour of the Heart Chakra is green.

The Heart Chakra is an open doorway, the anchor for our soul into our body, and the seat of our emotions. When our heart chakra is open and balanced we are in a space of self-love, self-nurture, generosity, kindness, humour, empathy, non-judgement, happiness, compassion, expansion, optimism and FLOW. We’ll see beauty everywhere!

When the Heart Chakra is out of balance we can experience too much empathy, and hypersensitivity to the moods and emotions of others, where we will process these emotions as our own or feel responsible for them in other people. This is draining emotionally, physically and spiritually.

When the Heart Chakra has low energy flow we can experience loneliness, a sense of not belonging, we’ll shy away from intimacy and commitment, be overtly critical of self and others, be defensive and even paranoid. It is also an energy that creates addiction, including workaholism (see this week’s energy forecast for more on this!) because addictions mask and numb PAIN.

In all instances what the heart chakra needs is LOVE. Treat yourself and others with kindness, and spend time listening to your heart. Your heart holds all the wisdom of your soul, it truly knows what is best for you and what direction best serves you. All you ever need to do is tune in to that wisdom.

 

Weekly Structure

Each week of this nine week challenge will follow the same format:

  1. We will begin with the short guided meditation for the week, using your guidance stone. During this meditation you’ll be given a colour to work with for the week, and a word or phrase.
  2. We will choose an oracle card to give us inspiration and direction for the week ahead.
  3. We will spend ten minutes (or more if desired!) to complete our weekly journal prompt.
  4. We will give ourselves healing energy at least once this week.
  5. We will spend a few moments at the end of our day in gratitude.

Guided Meditation:

You’ll need ten minutes to listen to this short guided meditation. Feel free to hold your crystal while you meditate.

 

 

Journal Prompts

Now answer the following questions, writing as little or as much as you need:

  • What does your Power Colour mean to you? What words or ideas does it provoke? Write them down. Then use that colour to boost your energy. Shut your eyes for thirty seconds and breathe it into your body whenever you feel a bit flat or low. Wear it as clothing. Choose flowers in your colour. Eat food that colour. Be creative with it.
  • How can you use your Power Word this week? Write a few ideas, based on your word. Trust whatever comes and write it down. Don’t overthink it.

Want to go deeper with your journalling? Try these additional prompts. Write the beginning of the sentence and then keep going, using stream of consciousness. Do one or all of them. You’ll be amazed what you might discover about yourself!

  • When I connect into the energy of my Heart Chakra it makes me strong to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Heart Chakra it makes me scared to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Heart Chakra it makes me curious to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Heart Chakra it makes me excited to think that…

Your Chakra Card For The Week:

Take your chosen oracle or tarot cards, offer up a small prayer that whatever you do be for your Highest Good, and then shuffle the deck. As you’re shuffling, ask the question ‘What wisdom does my Heart Chakra have for me this week?’ Say it out loud or hold it as a thought in your head. Either will work.

Choose one card. How you choose is up to you. Split the deck. Fan them out. Top or bottom. Dive right in. There is no right or wrong.

Now look at your card and hold your guidance stone in your non-writing hand. Really look at the card. Don’t use the book or the ‘proper’ meaning. We are being intuitive here, people! What stands out for you in the picture? What thoughts and ideas do the images provoke? Take a minute or two and write those thoughts down. I know, you might feel like you’re just making it all up. That’s okay. Write anyway. Trust that there is a part of you that is wise and that has been waiting for this chance to speak with your conscious mind.

Hands On Healing:

This week our hands-on healing is simple, easy and powerful. It’s a great healing to do last thing at night, in bed, just before we go to sleep.

  1. Lie in bed, on your back, comfortable and with a straight spine.
  2. Shake out your hands and activate your hand chakras. (Can’t remember how? Go back and review our Orientation Post)
  3. Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your belly. Let white light flow from your hands into your body.
  4. When your body is filled with light, run green light from one hand to the other, in a  gigantic healing loop. Feel the green light cleansing your heart, your blood, your cells and organs, your energy field.
  5. Let the colour of the energy change as you do this, if any other colours come to you and feel right.
  6. Finish with white or golden light into your body.
  7. Fall asleep, knowing that you will still be healing as you sleep.

You can also do this healing  when you first wake up. Enjoy!

Practicing Gratitude

The Gratitude Rock anchors positive energy and gratitude at the end of every day.  You can carry your stone with you, or leave it beside your bed.  At night, before you go to sleep, hold your Gratitude Rock in your hand.

As you hold the stone say to yourself: I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life. Then hold in your mind one or more image of a thing you have been grateful for today. Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe. Visualise a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.

Now here’s the fun bit – imagine all of the other people who are taking part in this journalling challenge with you. Once again build up a strong positive energy in your heart, and then imagine shooting a stream of golden light out into the Universe to those people.

Say Thank you. I Bless You. I intend for you Love, Miracles and Abundance.Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Place your rock back beside your bed, and go to sleep, cocooned in this good energy.

About the Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located at our belly button, and it is bright yellow in colour. It’s the place where our sense of self-identity resides. It is where our personal power, integrity and self-esteem are anchored. It’s the ‘I AM’ centre of our body.

When our Solar Plexus Chakra is balanced we feel calm, energised, clear and certain about who we are and where we are going in life. We have confidence, vitality and purpose. We demonstrate self-control and sovereignty in our lives. We can also mentor and lead others from this space. Life is meaningful and we have gratitude for ourselves and our lives.

When our Solar Plexus Chakra is unbalanced we go one of two ways. For some our self-esteem and confidence can drop, we feel flat and tired, and we may be lost and confused about what is best for us and which direction to take. We make poor choices and don’t seem to care or be able to stop ourselves even though we are aware of our patterns. Some people with an unbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra swing the other way and become stubborn,obsessive, intolerant, narrow-minded, bossy and overbearing. These people become workaholics who are relentlessly driven and who take no joy from life.

Weekly Structure

Please note that I’ve been under the weather with an awful tummy bug for the past week, so I was unable to record a new meditation. Instead I am using an old recording (it’s still a good one!) but it does not specifically cover the power word and power colour. That’s okay – just set your intention that your power word and power colour will come to you during or at the end of this meditation, and then proceed as usual. When the meditation is complete, write down your power colour and your power word or phrase for the week in your journal.

  4. Concentrate that energy on your belly first, and then take the energy further though your body, wherever it feels most needed.
  5. Fall asleep, knowing that you will still be healing as you sleep.

You can also do this healing  when you first wake up. Enjoy!

Is Perfection Your Secret Disease? – Oracle for Monday 6 March 2017

Hello, Lovelies!

The oracle card I have chosen to guide us this week is ‘Perfection’ from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for March, you’ll remember that March is all about creating systems and structures which make your everyday life more supported and sustainable.

So, what gifts does Perfection bring for you this week?

Perfection is a trap that steals time, momentum and positivity. It’s a sickness, a weakness that masquerades as something worthy.

We tell ourselves that we strive for perfection because we care so much. We want to do a good job. We want to get it right. We hold ourselves to a high standard.

In fact, sometimes we can’t even see that the reason we’re not moving forward is a perfection thing.

But so often it’s a perfection thing…

Perfection stops us from making decisions. Because what if there is a better one? What if we get it wrong? What if what we choose or decide fails us in some way?

Perfection stops us from even starting.

Instead we build entire worlds in our heads about how it could look, or even worse how it should have looked. (Yep, we spend time looking at the past, wishing we could have done things differently!) We use all our energy on thinking and worrying and comparing instead of simply DOING.

Perfection gets us into such a knot of not-good-enough that we procrastinate endlessly, and wear ourselves down into dust. We’re exhausted and spent before we even begin.

Perfection is an insidious disease that robs us of momentum, optimism and satisfaction.

This week the Perfection card reminds us to stop for a moment and examine our patterns of thought. And to look carefully at our patterns of action, or inaction.

What’s stopping you? What thoughts are going through your head? What’s worrying you? Why are you hesitating?

If necessary get it all down on paper. Just to get it out where you can see it clearly instead of having all those subversive joy-killing thoughts at the back of your head.

Then find a starting point and DO SOMETHING.

Not starting because of fear of failing is actually failing anyway. Had you ever realised that?

So – say yes. Or no. Start something. End something. Get some action happening and some choices made.

You may feel very wobbly as you start out, but action creates momentum and momentum creates stability and clarity. If you keep waiting, not doing anything, that clarity and momentum will continue to elude you. And you’ll stay a victim of the perfection disease.

Be a beginner, and then keep going. That’s how you get to mastery.

But above all, just be yourself!

Lapis Lazuli is a stand out for its ability to strengthen both wisdom and self-belief. Carnelian is fabulous for energy, courage and creativity. Tourmaline in Quartz will build courage and help you to stand by your choices and decisions. Sodalite will help you to understand and speak your truth.

Use one to two drops of each in your diffuser – they blend beautifully together.

Listening To My Body

Yesterday I stopped.

Although I am on holiday and had a million exciting events planned I decided to cancel all of them.

Instead I put myself to bed and slept. Rising in the late afternoon I took a short walk, ate a simple meal overlooking the world from the top floor open-air cafe of our hotel. I watched the river flowing. I watched the sun set. I watched the play of lights in the night sky, and then put myself back to bed again.

So much sleep, and I feel as if I could still sleep some more. So it’s likely I will.

 

Once I would have pushed through this exhaustion. I would have allowed stubbornness to keep me upright and engaged, no matter how fatigued I might be.

No more.

Part of my holiday plan is to listen to my body and give it what it needs. It needs sleep. So I will happily comply.

The Strange Dream

I had the strangest dream last night.

A dream that seemed less like a dream and more like a garden party.

My grandfather was there, handsome and charming as ever. Dressed in his best summer nautical whites.

My grandfather passed away some years ago. I knew instinctively that all of the other people in the dream had also died. But there was no solemnity or sadness. We were celebrating something, waiting for an honored guest, and it was very social.

My grandfather introduced me to an older woman, and a girl in her early twenties perhaps.

We chatted for a moment, and then the happy young girl fixed her eyes on me in a way I could not ignore. She asked me to give her mother a message for me. She told me her mother’s name and where she was from.

And then she gave me the message, which was short but clear.

The message was in two parts. Both for her ‘mom’, but one private and one I could share.

Here’s the share message.

God is love, and love is everywhere.

We have just found out that the Anglican Hall has accidentally double-booked us!!!

We will still have access to the hall today, but not until 4pm.

I’m so sorry for any inconvenience!

We’ll set up just as quickly as we can, and if you want to help us out with that your help would be much appreciated too.

The pop up shop will still go ahead as planned and tonight’s activities will be unaffected.

The shop will be open all day tomorrow – 10am to 4pm.

I’m doing my very best to be calm about it all.

Hello Lovelies,

Here’s this week’s oracle card and my take on the energetic outlook for the days ahead.

‘Serendipity’, from Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Oracle deck reminds you of your place in the Universe this week, and that place is a place of magical interconnection.

You’re not alone. You’re being watched over and guided. There is so much love directed your way. Tune in to those energies this week. Reach out to your Guides and Angels for answers and assistance. Talk in your head with your loved ones who’ve crossed over. Know that you are supported and aided when you ask for help. Trust in a benevolent Universe.

Know that either someone has your answer OR you are theirs… Sometimes it isn’t about finding the solution to your own problems. This week is also encouraging many of you to become the solution for others by sharing your ideas, opinions, talents and wisdoms with the wider world.

This is also a fantastic time for soul connection and awakening psychic energies. Listen to your intuition this week. Make space for quiet time with your cards and some journalling.

Mini Online Chakra Wisdoms Retreat – Day 1

Right now I am running a very special Chakra Wisdoms retreat here in Byron Bay – a delicious week of meditation, shamanic wisdoms and a facilitated journey deep within as we explore our chakras and how their energy shapes us.

I know how much some of you love to follow along and participate from home, so I’ve created a simple series of exercises to help you take your own inner journey using your chakras and oracle cards for guidance.

Each day we will have a series of simple reflection questions for you to contemplate.

Then you will be asked to choose a colour. That colour represents the chakra you will work with today. There will be a challenge for you based on the colour you chose.

Finally you will choose an oracle card to give insight into the chakra you are working with today.

 

Reflection Questions

Take ten minutes, sit quietly on your own, and answer these as truthfully as you can. These answers are just for you. No-one else will see them. Write them down. Let the answers stay with you. Write as little or as much as you need.

  1. Where do you feel or hold fear in your body? Are there any places that have been this way since you were a child? Are any of these places newer?
  2. When you feel really good about yourself and your life where does that feeling sit within your body?

Pick the colour that most stands out for you:

  1. Orange – Sacral Chakra

 

2. Red – Base Chakra

 

3. Sky Blue – Throat Chakra

Now choose your challenge based on the colour you selected. Each of these activities will help to nurture and strengthen the Chakra you have chosen as today’s Chakra:

  1. Orange – Orange corresponds to our Sacral Chakra, our centre for Creativity and Sensuality. Choose one of the following activities to support your Sacral Chakra today: *enjoy a massage *have an aramotherapy bath or diffuse some oils *watch a movie *listen to music *go to a gallery *make some art *write *work on a favourite project *explore a new part of town *go to a new cafe or store
  2.   3. Sky Blue – Sky Blue corresponds to our Throat Chakra, our centre for Communication and Speaking Our Truth. Choose one of the following activities to support your Throat Chakra today: *sing – in the car or the shower or just in your lounge room *phone a friend *sign up for a course *write a letter *join a social or online group with common interests *begin planning a course you will teach or a book you will write *try laughter yoga *listen to music *make music *do anything that makes you deeply relaxed
  4. Yellow – Yellow corresponds to our Solar Plexus Chakra, our I AM centre for anchoring our personal authority and sense of self.  Choose one of the following activities to support your Solar Plexus Chakra today: *say yes to something you want *say no to something you don’t want *affirm your boundaries *choose to speak positively about yourself and others *create a life plan or a business plan *make a decision in an area where you’ve been procrastinating *take some time for a solo adventure – even if that’s just a cup of coffee on your own in a new place, or ten minutes exploring an interesting store *find yourself a coach or mentor who believes in you *make a dream board
  5. White – White corresponds to our Crown Chakra, our centre for Spiritual Connection and Higher Purpose. Choose one of the following activities to support your Crown Chakra today: *meditate *go for a long walk *take time to sit quietly in nature *journal and work with your oracle cards *have a crystal or reiki healing *pray or visit a temple, church, mosque or sacred site *rest or take some quite time for yourself *book into a spiritual course or yoga retreat *stretch your body *read a book *take a course to build your knowledge
  6. Purple – Purple corresponds to our Third Eye Chakra, our centre for Spiritual Insight and Life Vision. Choose one of the following activities to support your Third Eye Chakra today: *spend some time giving yourself an oracle or tarot reading, or visit someone who does these *visualise yourself having, doing or being something that is a life goal for you *make plans for the future *take a walk in bright sunshine or moonlight * burn some incense *journal your problems and consider solutions *meditate *play with your favourite crystals *give or receive energy healing *take a nap *have an early night *do something that stimulates your imagination
  7. Green – Green corresponds to our Heart Chakra, our centre for Love and Emotional Expression. Choose one of the following activities to support your Sacral Chakra today: *give or receive a heart-to-heart hug *forgive yourself *forgive someone else *make contact with someone you miss *declare your love *be kind to yourself *meet loved ones for a shared meal *plan an outing or holiday with friends or family *worship or give thanks in a way that is meaningful to you *celebrate your life by doing something that makes you happy *donate or volunteer *smile and be kind *spend time with your pets *seek help from a therapist if you are stuck in grief, loss or anger *place flowers by your bed or desk *treat yourself to a haircut or manicure *buy one small thing that makes your feel good and nurtures your soul

Choosing your Daily Oracle Card:

Don’t be scared about using Oracle or Tarot cards. They are simply a tool to help tune you in to your own intuition and inner knowing. It is possible that you may also choose the same card more than once over the course of this challenge. Each time you choose a card, treat it as a whole new message. You may find yourself having several interpretations from just one card over time, depending on the questions you have asked.

Take a favourite stone or crystal, and complete this short guided meditation:

Hold your stone in your cupped hands, close your eyes, and slow your breathing. Bring white light into your body until you feel peaceful and calm. Then bring white light into the crystal too. Allow yourself to connect to the stone. You may feel it tingle, or visualise a colour in your mind’s eye. When you are ready, open your eyes. Keep your stone near you, and hold it when you write.

 

Now shuffle your cards, thinking about the colour and chakra you have chosen today. Silently ask the question to yourself ‘How can this Chakra support me today?’

When you have shuffled the cards and they feel ‘done’, select just one card. How you choose that card is up to you. You can split the deck. You could take the top or bottom card. You could fan the cards out and take one from the array.

Place the card face up in front of you.

Clear your mind by closing your eyes and taking one deep breath in and then out. Open your eyes again. Take a minute and look at the picture on the oracle or tarot card.

What stands out for you? Is it an image or a colour? Is it a number or a word? What are your first impressions?

Write these down in your journal.

Now let’s go a little deeper. What feelings or words does this card evoke in your mind when you think about the card and its images in relation to the question ‘How can this Chakra support me today?’ Take five minutes and just write some stream-of-consciousness thoughts down. Don’t censor or judge them. Trust the process.

Finally, read back over what you have written.

Expect that more insights may come up for you during the day. Write anything important down in your journal so that you can continue to reflect upon it.
