Is Perfection Your Secret Disease? – Oracle for Monday 6 March 2017

“Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.”

~ Leonard Cohen

Hello, Lovelies!

The oracle card I have chosen to guide us this week is ‘Perfection’ from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for March, you’ll remember that March is all about creating systems and structures which make your everyday life more supported and sustainable.

So, what gifts does Perfection bring for you this week?

Perfection is a trap that steals time, momentum and positivity. It’s a sickness, a weakness that masquerades as something worthy.

We tell ourselves that we strive for perfection because we care so much. We want to do a good job. We want to get it right. We hold ourselves to a high standard.

In fact, sometimes we can’t even see that the reason we’re not moving forward is a perfection thing.

But so often it’s a perfection thing…

Perfection stops us from making decisions. Because what if there is a better one? What if we get it wrong? What if what we choose or decide fails us in some way?

Perfection stops us from even starting.

Instead we build entire worlds in our heads about how it could look, or even worse how it should have looked. (Yep, we spend time looking at the past, wishing we could have done things differently!) We use all our energy on thinking and worrying and comparing instead of simply DOING.

Perfection gets us into such a knot of not-good-enough that we procrastinate endlessly, and wear ourselves down into dust. We’re exhausted and spent before we even begin.

Perfection is an insidious disease that robs us of momentum, optimism and satisfaction.

This week the Perfection card reminds us to stop for a moment and examine our patterns of thought. And to look carefully at our patterns of action, or inaction.

What’s stopping you? What thoughts are going through your head? What’s worrying you? Why are you hesitating?

If necessary get it all down on paper. Just to get it out where you can see it clearly instead of having all those subversive joy-killing thoughts at the back of your head.

Then find a starting point and DO SOMETHING.

Not starting because of fear of failing is actually failing anyway. Had you ever realised that?

So – say yes. Or no. Start something. End something. Get some action happening and some choices made.

You may feel very wobbly as you start out, but action creates momentum and momentum creates stability and clarity. If you keep waiting, not doing anything, that clarity and momentum will continue to elude you. And you’ll stay a victim of the perfection disease.

Be a beginner, and then keep going. That’s how you get to mastery.

But above all, just be yourself!

Supportive crystals this week?

Lapis Lazuli is a stand out for its ability to strengthen both wisdom and self-belief. Carnelian is fabulous for energy, courage and creativity. Tourmaline in Quartz will build courage and help you to stand by your choices and decisions. Sodalite will help you to understand and speak your truth.

Helpful essential oils?

Young Living’s Believe or Common Sense essential oil blends are good choices this week. Believe works to boost our self-confidence and self-belief.  Common Sense oil is a super stress-buster that will help with allowing you to become clear about what you want, and to feel secure with your choices and decisions, especially around change. If you want to make your own combination or use a single oil, choose from grapefruit, basil, geranium and frankincense. Use one to two drops of each in your diffuser – they blend beautifully together.

Holding you, as always, in my thoughts, prayers and meditations, and intending for a you a life of abundance and joy, where you are no longer limited by your doubts.

All my love,

Nicole ❤ xx

A Note of Encouragement For You – Monday Oracle for 27 February 2017

“Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery.”
~ J.K. Rowling

Hello, Lovelies.

The oracle card I have chosen to guide us this week is ‘Acceptance’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for February, you’ll remember for these last few days of the month that February is all about turning inwards, and tuning in to our own wants and needs, staying true to ourselves and our goals despite our fears or what other people may tell us. Keep that in the back of your mind as you read through the rest of this post.

So, what gifts does Acceptance bring for you this week?

This week is a week for accepting that where we are at is where we are! We cannot run away from ourselves or the truth of our current situation, even if we want to be further along in our lives, and have a head full of plans and dreams to make it so.

We are also reminded that we are enough. If we have been given a dream, we are enough and there is enough within us for us to be able to realise that dream.

We are worthy of love. We are worthy of success. We are worthy of happiness. We are worthy of redemption. No matter what has gone before, what choices we may have made or failures we may have endured, there is always hope. Life is constantly changing, and so can we.

Sometimes the realisation of our hopes and dreams starts in the most humble of ways, with steps forward that are invisible to everyone else except us.

But we can see them. That matters!

Saving an extra $5 a week, walking around the block, writing 500 words a week, putting one less sugar in your coffee, devoting an hour every Sunday to your bigger plan – none of that is dramatic or sexy or immediately life-changing. But it all adds up. Slow steady change is more likely to become transformative and sustainable than one or two crazy efforts that exhaust you and can’t be easily replicated.

Acceptance encourages us to stay true to our course, even if we can’t see results yet. It reminds us not to compare ourselves to others. It tells us not to give up on ourselves and our dreams.

Supportive crystals this week?

Carnelian will support you if you are tired, unwell or plain burned out! Add White Howlite to this if you are struggling with depression, anxiety or overwhelm. Just pop them in your pocket, or wear them somewhere on your body. They are also good to hold in meditation or to place under your pillow before sleep. If you are struggling to communicate your thoughts and ideas, or need support to speak your truth or ask for help, choose a lovely blue Sodalite! Rose Quartz if you need a boost of love, kindness and nurture.

Helpful essential oils?

Young Living’s Joy or Common Sense essential oil blends, or  a combination (or singly!) of any of Rose, Rosemary, Lemon, Vetiver and Lavender. The Joy blend is fabulous if you are feeling anxious or uncertain, or a bit sad or stuck. It’s reassuring and uplifting; wonderful for gently shifting depression and self-doubt. I often wear it as a perfume. Common Sense oil is a super stress-buster that will help with allowing you to become clear about what you want, and to feel secure with your choices and decisions, especially around change. It’s my oil of choice in my diffuser again this week.

Holding you, as always, in my thoughts, prayers and meditations, and intending for a you a life of abundance and joy, where you are no longer limited by your doubts.

All my love,

Nicole ❤ xx

A Short But Important Message For You

2013-03-19-14-06-57

“One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself.”
~ Shannon L. Alder

Every morning when I wake up I sit in meditation.

I say prayers for my family and friends, I send healing to those who need it, I send energy and love to my students, and then to the world.

After which I always think about you, dear readers, and I ask ‘What do my readers most need to know today?’ This usually helps me to write a blog post, or to prepare an activity or meditation.

Today when I asked, I got a very clear message. So clear that all I need do is record it here:

“Everyone on earth should believe that they have something to give the world which cannot otherwise be given.”

I know that this is true.

And I know that it’s a message some of you absolutely needed to be reminded of today.

So, go be you. Go be who you are and know that this is enough. To live as yourself. To act and think as yourself. To interact with others as yourself. To love as yourself. Your true self. You whole self.

Even if you have never been brave enough to be you until now.

Because it’s time.

I love you.

Go well today,

Nicole <3 xx

What Are You Ready To Give Up?

Image from www.buildfaith.org

“Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I’ve done it thousands of times.”
~ Mark Twain

Tomorrow, the 17th of December, sees the beginning of the energies of the new year arriving.

2017 will show her face early this year. So that means today truly is the last day of the old 2016 energy (and of the energy of the entire era that started before the birth of Christ and has been staggering to its eventual end from 2012).

Today is a fabulous day for giving something up.

Something that no longer serves you.

Something that holds you back.

It might be a habit, a behaviour, an attitude, a limiting belief, a relationship, a food group. 🙂 But whatever it is, you already know that you’d be a lot better without this thing in your life.

There is enormous support and energy available to you today as you decide to give something up so that you don’t carry that stinking old pattern into the bright clean new year.

You might need to give it up for ever, or simply for a while. You might need to just change your relationship with this thing.

So, what will you give up today?

It’s time.

Sending masses of love and support your way,

Nicole <3 xoxo

The Energies of August – 2016

“If people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all.”
~ Michelangelo Buonarroti

Hello, Lovelies :)

Welcome to August. August is a month for knowing ourselves, for bettering ourselves and for furthering ourselves. As we act from a place of self-awareness and personal clarity things will begin to fall into place for us. Sure, the actions we need to take and the decisions we must make may not be easy, but all of them shall be leading us very clearly in the direction of our choosing. No more drifting. It’s time to commit or to walk away. Time to stick with something, or to choose something new. Coasting this month, or waiting to see how things turn out will just lead to further stuckness and confusion.

In everything you do this month, do it for yourself and not to please or placate others!

Cards for the Month:

I’ve chosen two cards for August for you: one from the Osho Zen Tarot Deck, and one from Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Oracle. Please note I don’t use these cards in the conventional way, but rather as a stimulus for channelled information.

Here is what I have received from each card:

0shozenMaster

“The warrior has awareness…we are aware that we are at war , and the war in our minds requires discipline. Not the discipline of a soldier but the discipline of a warrior. Not the discipline from the outside to tell us what to do and not to do, but the discipline to be ourselves, no matter what.”
~ Miguel Ruiz

August encourages us to own our Mastery and to work on deepening our knowledge and skills. We are better to specialise and to make one thing our own then to cast our nets widely and be a Jack or Jill Of All Trades.

Everyone has something that comes easily to them, or that they can do well. Often we discount that thing for the very reason that it came easily to us. In August don’t be so quick to talk down or overlook your natural gifts and talents. Is there anything you are ready to teach or share, even if it’s in the most small and humble of ways?

August brings awakening psychic energies, and a need for soul connection. It is also a month of unexpected magic, Universal assistance and breakthroughs.

There’s a flipside though. We are beginning to be aware of those areas of limitation – where we don’t naturally shine. August allows us to finally see that it’s our choice. We can work hard to build up those areas of weakness, or we can delegate them out to someone who does shine in that space, and who can complement and support our own gifts and talents.

Yang

“I can’t do everything, but I can do something.
I dedicate this month to what I can do.” ~ Nicole Cody

The second card I’ve chosen is Yang. This card reminds me a little of the Good Witch Glinda in the Wizard of Oz, telling Dorothy that the power was in her all along.

You have a magic in you. Something that is your own personal superpower. Something you do in a way that makes this thing uniquely your own. But that power is no good unexpressed.

August is giving you every encouragement to get out of your own way and launch your dreams, your business, your art, your images, your thoughts, yourself into the world.

Roll up your sleeves and get to work. If you do, all kinds of good stuff can be unleashed, including support and synchronicities.

Maybe it’s time to set up your own Instagram or Pinterest account. Maybe it’s time to set up your Etsy store or your website. Maybe it’s time to teach or blog or craft or simply to wear your magical red shoes when everyone else’s shoes are sensible black.

Be you. Magnificently and unashamedly you.

Best crystals this month?

Clear Quartz will activate your latent psychic abilities, and tune you in to your own soul wisdom. It enhances purpose and decision making, and is a great stone for all forms of communication.

This is a super stone to hold, to place in your pocket or to wear on the midline of your body as a pendant..

2015-03-18 06.38.17

Aragonite Star Clusters are a nurturing stone that call back your scattered energy and help you to remain centred, grounded, clear and balanced, even as you radiate that focused energy outwards.

If you can’t find Aragonite, look for Septarian Nodules which have Aragonite as part of the conglomeration of this mixed stone. That’s an Aragonite Star Cluster in the photo below.

2014-11-27 14.17.41

And this is a Septarian Nodule. The Aragonite is the dark brown mineral. Its companions are Golden Calcite and Siltstone.

Essential oils to support your journey?

Try this focus-enhancing diffuser blend of 3 drops of Rosemary, 3 drops of Basil, 3 drops of Orange and 2 drops of Lavender.  It’s fantastic for concentration, thinking and decision-making and for getting things done. If you feel ungrounded or really stressed add 2 drops of Cedarwood or Vetiver to calm you and bring you back into your body.  My fairy friend Sokli calls this her Ready to Work! blend.

The Non-Believer and the Desperate Hour

“Desperation can make a person do surprising things.”
~ Veronica Roth

*This post is a continuation from yesterday’s The Non-Believer and The Amazing Offer

Sunday was a rare crisis-of-faith day for me. I’d slept poorly for days, I was churned with anxiety over a job offer from my old life, and I was wondering if what I did really made a difference in the world. Even more than that, at nearing fifty years of age, I still struggle at times with having a parent who does not accept what I do as a psychic and is not proud of me, but who would be if I went back to the corporate world. (I know… but my job is always to be truthful with you, so there it is. It creates a sucking sadness in me that dulls and roars in turn, and I never quite know what might trigger it. The little girl in me still aches to please.)

Sunday is an unplugged day for me. I have a session with my Planner, I spend time with my husband, and I don’t work at all. I don’t even look at my computer, because that way I can ignore the constant stream of messages and emails, of which a handful are always urgent. If I read one, I’d have to respond. If someone needs me I can’t not.

On Sunday afternoon my phone began to ding as a series of messages came through. I glanced at the screen and saw that they were facebook messages so I ignored them. But they kept coming. I realised that someone was urgently trying to get hold of me. And something in me made me break my Sunday rule. I opened the first message, and then read them all one by one. They were all from the same person.

They were all from the business coach who’d slammed me for being a psychic earlier this year, and who’d then trash-talked me to my friend. The same coach who’d urged me to give up my psychic work and go back to the ‘respectability’ of the corporate sector.

Contact me, his message said.

After six messages, it changed to Contact me urgently.

Image from www.dr.dk

Image from www.dr.dk

I knew it wouldn’t be about him reconsidering me as a potential client for his mentoring program. I knew deep in my bones that he had a problem. I could feel the desperation in those three terse words.

I texted him back. How can I help?

A series of photos followed of his tiny daughter. The coach was travelling with his wife and young family, doing public speaking engagements and such. They were away from home and his little girl was ill. Nothing specific. A fever. She was quiet. She didn’t have much appetite. She’d been listless. They’d taken her to a local hospital, and the staff there diagnosed her with a cold. They’d given her something for the fever and sent her home again.

For him to even contact me, given how rude he’d been and how clearly he’d told me he was a non-believer in all things psychic, I knew he was out of options. I was his last resort.

I skyped him.

The coach was awkward, and wouldn’t quite look me in the eye. Did I think there was something wrong with his daughter? Because both he and his wife thought there was something not quite right.

I tuned in.

What I got disturbed me. I could feel infection through her tiny body, building up into a crisis. I knew it had already affected her kidneys. I knew she was not far from going critical.

Put her in the car, I said. Take her back to the hospital, the closest one. Go now. It’s something serious. She needs urgent medical attention. It’s an infection, I said.

He hung up on me.

Forty minutes later he called again. They were at a new hospital and the staff wanted to send them home. His daughter’s fever wasn’t too high. They thought she had a cold or a little viral infection.

Did you tell them she’s had medication for the fever, I said. That’s what’s masking the true situation.

Over the next hour we talked a few more times as the doctors told the man to take his daughter home, after which he’d check in with me and then at my insistence tell them he wanted her to stay. But I could feel his resolve wavering. He was tired. He thought he was over-reacting.

In my mind’s eye I saw it. Something the little girl hadn’t had half an hour before. Show them the rash, I said.

What rash? She doesn’t have a rash! He was belligerent now. Angry with me. Angry that he’d contacted me.

Lift up her shirt, I said. She has tiny purple dots on her tummy and back. Hurry!

I didn’t hear from the coach again for hours. Not til nearly 1am on Monday morning, my time. During that time I’d held his family and his daughter in my prayers, sent her healing energy, and meditated on her soul and on her life. I felt how touch-and-go it was.

Image from www.verywell.com

Image from www.verywell.com

This is what the coach told me. They admitted his sick little girl straight away, diagnosing her with meningococcal disease. They gave her life-saving drugs, but she was already in a critical condition when that happened. And it progressed quickly from there. She had now sustained kidney and liver damage, and it looked like she might lose the fingertips of two fingers, and the top joint of a toe on one foot. It might get worse, he said. He was sobbing.

She’s already turned the corner, I told him. You saved her life. I know it looks bad, but she’s going to be okay. I talked to him for over an hour, just supporting him and being there for him. By the time I got off the call I was wrung out.

I couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night. Instead I meditated and sent them love and healing, and prayed for them. I was grateful that the coach had honoured his own intuition in knowing that there was something wrong, and then in reaching out to me of all people.

On Monday morning I rang the guy trying to recruit me and told him a flatout no. Then Ben took me and Cafe Dog out for breakfast. I told him what had happened with the coach and his baby girl, and what the outcome was.

See, Ben said to me. What you do does matter.

And I knew Ben was right.

The corporate man will find someone else to head up his ridiculous-deadline project now that I’ve declined his offer. Some other person will flog the team senseless and create the things that I won’t do, no matter how well paid I would have been. It doesn’t matter if people like the coach lambast me and put me down. Even if later, they turn to me. There will always be people, within my family and within my community, who judge me for what I do and find me wanting. Who don’t understand me. Or who fear being judged themselves, by virtue of association with me .

I can only be who I am. Who would I be, and what message would I send if I tried to turn my back on this thing that I am? How could I ever support you, and encourage you to claim your own intuitive and psychic ability?

We were made this way for a reason.

It’s hard, sometimes, this road that I walk. But it’s worth it. Just like it will be for you too. Each of us have our own unique natures and gifts. We all matter, and we all have something to offer. All of us must strive to be true to who we came here to be. Or else, why live at all?

The Energies of May – 2016

“Always be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate version of someone else.”
~ Judy Garland

“If you end up with a boring miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest, or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.”
~ Frank Zappa

Hello, Lovelies :)

Welcome to May! May is a delicious month, and her energies are kind, supportive and expansive. Let me share some observations about the energy of the month ahead, as well as a few suggestions for embracing all that May has to offer.

Cards for the Month:

I’ve chosen two cards for May for you: one from the Osho Zen Tarot Deck, and one from Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Oracle. Please note I don’t use these cards in the conventional way, but rather as a stimulus for channelled information.

Here is what I have received from each card:

floweringosho

“We are each gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.”  ~Evelyn Dunbar

May’s energies are encouraging us to share ourselves and our gifts with the world. Even if this is in the smallest of ways, we’re being asked to live more joyously, more authentically.

Most of us have hidden aspects of inner selves for so long that we’ve forgotten those parts of ourselves. Or they are dusty and rusty from lack of use. May celebrates the essence of 2016 and this new vibration that our world has moved into – collaboration, community, cooperation, connection, inclusion.

It’s time, you see, to be who we are.

Image from www.quoteslo.com

Image from www.quoteslo.com

It isn’t just about what you have to share with the world. It’s about simply being more authentically you in the world.

Like toe-socks? Wear them with pride.

Don’t like coffee? Be a proud tea drinker instead.

Whatever your preferences, quirks or points of difference, May is the month to embrace them. And then, if you’re brave, be a little more public and a little more vocal about being yourself and doing your thing – without the need to validate, excuse or apologise.

If you have something to offer out in the wider world, know that there are others who are waiting for the thing you’re holding back. It’s time. Take tiny steps if you must but do put one foot in front of the other as May urges and cheers you on. May is a brilliant month for breaking through and developing some momentum.

Got something to launch? Hello, May! May is your month for unfurling those tightly held buds and beginning to blossom.

The main thing to embrace about May though is simply this: Just be YOU. Out and proud about being yourself. Shining from within, so that your inner light begins to light the way for others to do the same.

“Happiness is not a goal…it’s a by-product of a life well lived.”  ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

The second card I’ve chosen is Milk and Honey. This card reminds you that now is the time for incorporating activities into your life that nurture, sustain and inspire you.

May is a month for celebration of both the special and the ordinary moments in life. For feeding our souls as well as our bodies. For taking time to engage in pleasure and gratitude.

So often we rush through life, busy-busy, and forget to take time to enjoy the place that we live, the people around us, and all of the goodness life has to offer.

May is a faster energy month, after our April of being cocooned and going slow. Pay attention to your diet this month. Eat foods that heal and energise you, but remember to have the occasional treat-day, where you can indulge in the activities and foods that give you pleasure.

All this introspection, soul-searching and hard work is going to pay off, you can be sure of that. In the meantime enjoy the journey, or at least give yourself moments of light and joy amidst the everyday grind.

Best crystals this month?

Green Aventurine is a stone that promotes joy and happiness. It helps our inner child to sparkle and come alive, so that we rediscover our sense of humour and curiosity, our sense of adventure and our appreciation for life.
