1. Body Awareness

“We are spiritual beings in physical bodies. This guided meditation will help you to be aware of both your energetic or ‘soul’ nature, and your physical vehicle. It will orient your chakras, and connect you into the earth and wider universe.

You’ll need to set aside about half an hour for this meditation. Sit or lie somewhere quietly, using pillows or blankets if needed to make yourself comfortable. At my last retreat, my Beginner Channelling Intensive, I taught a new healing method. It’s a beautiful technique, and simple  – an energy balancing, healing and expansion, performed in silence, and using energy, awareness, essential oils and crystals.

Yesterday, I got to experience just how powerful this method really is.

A dear friend, also a student of mine (yes, I become very close to many of my students and clients over the years – I am no guru on a mountain) came to my home after I’d had  a busy and stressful day.

After a busy and stressful few months as I have dealt with family illness, supporting clients through difficulty, and some health hiccups of my own.

Ben and Harry have gone home to our farm for a few days, and I’m here alone in the city, nursing Bert, and working.

My dear friend brought me food. Made me tea.

And then, most importantly, she settled me on my couch, covered me with a blanket, and gave me a healing using the technique I had taught her only a few months ago.

It was the first time I have been properly at the receiving end of this technique.

What an experience! At the time I was moved quickly and deeply into a place of relaxation. I felt my tension and worries drain away. I became filled with hope, love, energy and a sense of connection to the Divine. By session’s end I was completely peaceful in a way I haven’t been for months.

My friend left, almost straight away. I attended to our darling Bert, the dog who has just had major surgery, had a fragrant warm bath, and then put myself to bed. (At 6pm, yes I did!)

I slept for eleven restorative hours, during which I had some amazing dreams, and woke this morning feeling the best I’ve felt for such a long time.

What a profound experience.

This morning I am feeling blessed and humbled.

Strengthening Intuition Week 5 – Sensing Energy in People

Today we’re going to explore two useful methods for sensing energy in people.  Once again, these methods will build on the skills you are already developing in working with your hands.

Materials Required:

  • You, and your activated hand chakras
  • A willing human volunteer
  • A place where you can work, undisturbed, for five to ten minutes.

*Note – if you cannot find a willing human volunteer, this method also works on animals, so recruit a helpful cat, dog, hamster, horse etc…

Method One – Sensing General Energies

This process is very similar to the one for sensing energy in places.  You may like to review that information first here.

The thoughts that come often unsought, and, as it were, drop into the mind, are commonly the most valuable of any we have.  ~John Locke, 16 May 1699

  1. Begin with a quiet prayer, or the setting of your intent, that everything you do be for the Highest Good of All.
  2. Have your willing volunteer stand, sit, or lie – whatever is most comfortable for both of you.  (I prefer people to lie down – on a massage table, bed, couch, or even the floor – so that they can relax completely as I work.)  If you choose to have people sit, make sure that you can move around them.
  3. Activate your hand chakras (Review that process here)
  4. Place your hands over the person’s heart and take a moment to tune it.  You don’t need to touch the person – just hold your hands about ten centimetres (3 inches) above the heart itself.
  5. As you tune in, relax, and open your mind to any colours, words, images, emotions or sensations that come to you from this person.
  6. Then slowly move your hands over the person’s body, without actually touching them.  What do you feel?  Look for places that feel hotter or colder.  Look for places that feel heavier or lighter.  Look for places that don’t feel ‘right’ in some way. Open your mind to any further information about what you are sensing with your hands.
  7. Go back to the places that stood out for you energetically.  Summon golden or white light through your hand chakras and transmit that energy into those places on your friend or pet.  Just direct that beautiful energy from your hands and keep giving that energy until the place on the body begins to feel more balanced and positively changed.  *Note – it is quite normal for people to remark that your hands feel hot as you are working with them or giving them energetic healing.
  8. It’s okay to ask for feedback or to ask questions about what you are sensing as you go – this is a useful practice as it helps build your knowledge and confidence.

Method Two – Working with The Chakras

There is a little useful general information on Chakras here as well as a nice healing exercise.  Chakras are energetic centres within the body.  They are quite strong and easy for beginners to feel.

Begin with a quiet prayer, or the setting of your intent, that everything you do be for the Highest Good of All.

Using one of the following Chakra charts to guide you, feel for each Chakra, starting with the Crown Chakra at the top of the head, and ending with the Base Chakra.  Keep your hands about ten to fifteen centimetres (3 to 5 inches) above the body.

Feel for the amount of energy that is present in each Chakra, paying attention to any that are very strong, or very weak.  If any feel very weak, or cold, add some energy to them by directing that beautiful golden or white light from your hands into the Chakra itself to help them come back into balance.

When you are done, just bring your hands back together for a moment and give thanks.

If you are working with animals it is fine to rest your hands directly on the animal’s skin.  Most animals enjoy the connection and the energy they feel.

Animal Chakras will generally follow the same basic patterns as this chart for dogs, so you can use this as a guide for horses, cows, llamas, guinea pigs etc.

The Power of Hugs


Yesterday was a wonderful day and a difficult day in equal measure. I am mid-way through running my Temple of Light retreat, I had a big day of work ahead of me, it was Fathers Day here in Australia, and it was also my beautiful Nana’s birthday. Lots going on. And not just for me. Many on my workshop are going through big energetic and emotional shifts. Luckily we have hugs!

Hugs are good energetic medicine. When we stand heart to heart, encircled in each other’s arms, there is a strong flow of love, light and healing that is transmitted from one to the other. We both benefit. When we stand barefoot on the ground and hug, the earth benefits too, and is also able to add her own grounding and healing energies.

Hugs aren’t just comforting. Hugs can be a way to transfer energy, strength, support and compassion, one to the other, more completely than you might ever achieve by using words alone. Hugs enable us to communicate heart to heart and soul to soul.

Yesterday I began my day with hugs to support my students in their journey. When I spoke to my Dad on the phone a little later in the morning, and felt his pain and sorrow as his mum, my Nana, slowly worsens and moves towards her last hours, all I wanted to do was to give him a hug, and I ached that I couldn’t. My own heart ached that I couldn’t wrap him and my Nana up in my arms and physically transfer some of my love and energy to them.

When I finished my call I was so very grateful to have hugs from some of the people here at the retreat with me. It gave me great comfort and eased my pain.

During the day yesterday there was lots of cause for hugs – hugs of comfort, hugs of nurture, hugs of connection and of gratitude. Hugs of sheer happiness and joy that needed to be shared.

Last night, after a trance channelling session for my group, it was hugs that brought me back into my body, and helped me to ground again.

You may have never thought of yourself as a healer or an energy worker, but every time you give someone a heartfelt hug you become both these things.

I hope you get to experience some of that hug magic today. The world needs more hugs.

Day 30 – Gratitude Challenge

There is a natural flow and inter-connectedness within the Universe, and we are part of that energy too. No matter how ordinary and mundane we may feel from day to day, the truth is that we are incredible BEings – we are Souls having a physical experience here in this lifetime.

Each of us is Blessed with a way to tap into that interconnectedness of all things.  It’s called intuition. If you doubt this, think for a minute: Have you ever thought of a friend and then they called you? Have you ever had a hunch, a positive feeling about something, an insight or understanding without knowing why?  Has your body ever communicated with you by showing you what makes it feel good, and what doesn’t?

We are strongly guided. We are deeply loved. And each of us has the ability to use our thoughts and emotions to influence our reality. In truth we are all Lightworkers. The more we release feelings of fear and lack, and move into a place of gratitude, trust and abundant thinking, the more our inherent intuition and spiritual connection will strengthen – acting as a compass to guide us through life’s journey.

Today, take a moment to tune into the music of the universe, and the wisdom of your own heart. Be grateful for your sensitivity, your energy, your intuition, the Infinite Love that surrounds you, and for your connection to that Love.

Counting Our Blessings and Using our Gratitude Rock

If you need a detailed reminder of our daily process, you can review it here in Day 1 of the Gratitude Challenge.

  1. List five Blessings in your journal, explaining why you are grateful for each one.
  2. Count your Blessings off on your fingers, summoning positive emotion and saying Thank You from your heart for each one.
  3. Write the following words on a piece of paper, feeling the truth of this energy in your heart,  and add this paper to the ones already under your Gratitude Rock : I am connected to all things, and I honour and claim my spiritual and energetic connection with the World. I am grateful for my intuitive gifts.  Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
  4. Tonight before you go to sleep, hold your Gratitude Rock and affirm I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life. Visualise one thing you have been grateful for today. Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe, then imagine a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.
  5. Still holding your Gratitude Rock, bless your fellow travellers on this Gratitude Journey by sending them golden light, and saying Thank you.  I Bless You.  I intend for you Love, Miracles and Abundance. Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here.

Get comfortable and close your eyes.  Visualise all of the friends across the world who have been supporting you on this 30 Day Gratitude Challenge.  Each night, before they go to sleep, they have been sending you positive energy and intention – they have been sending you the energetic vibration of Love, Miracles and Abundance.

Today, flow positive Energy, Love and Gratitude back to them.  Imagine it as golden light flowing energetically from you and travelling all across the world, blessing these souls with your intention and emotion.  You don’t even need to use specific words if you don’t want to – just energy and emotion. Remember to say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You from your heart.

Really feel the inter-connectedness and Oneness of all things.  Feel your place in the world and this invisible energetic bridge that links our hearts and souls.

Allow a feeling of connection to flood through you.  Open yourself up to it. Trust in it. Know that you are a Spiritual BEing having a physical experience and that this energetic connection is your birthright.

Give Thanks for your spiritual nature. Give Thanks for your spiritual connection.  Really feel the Love and Energy that is always around you and flowing to you.  All you ever have to do is connect in with your heart.  It’s as simple as that!

Drinking in Colour – how to do a Healing Walk

Have you ever had a rough day? Silly question.  Of course you have. Like you, I have my occasional difficult patch, that place in my life where emotionally (and sometimes phsyically) I am stretched thin. Sometimes it’s from psychic work, sometimes the dramas of life – it never really matters how I get there, once I am there the only thing to do is nurture.

But what do you do when you feel that terrible gnawing emptiness, exhaustion, or deep emotional pain? When you are so drained that you are out of ideas for how to make yourself feel better…

I recommend a walk.

On this walk I want you to do three things:

  1. Breathe.
  2. Let the rhythm of your steps begin to calm your mind, just like a moving meditation.
  3. Drink in colour.

How do you drink in colour? Let your eyes drift to the things around you. Your soul will guide you towards colours that are soothing, healing, restoring, harmonising. Your chakras and your aura will become more energised. The colours you bring into your awareness will bring gifts to soothe and uplift you.

You’ll arrive home feeling calmer.  You’ll find that eventually, or much sooner, answers and ideas start to flow.

I took that sort of a walk this morning, and snapped some pictures so we could share this experience. If any of the images stand out for you, focus on them for a minute or two and let their energies infuse your consciousness.

Walking and drinking in colour is free. But the rewards are high. Often the best healing tools are right at our doorstep.
