Hey, Lovelies!
I had two disconcerting messages in my overflowing inbox yesterday that said essentially the same thing:
Now that Coronavirus is over, when will you be seeing face-to-face clients again? When are you going back to normal?
Yep. I had to read it through a few times too.
In parts of Australia lockdown restrictions are being eased, and there is the promise of greater personal freedoms and easing of trading restrictions for many businesses.
But, that doesn’t mean that the threat from the virus that causes COVID-19 is over. We still need to practice social distancing and good hygiene. The transmission curve may have flattened, which is great news, but there is still no cure and no vaccine.
For an immuno-compromised person like me, there is no change to my current self-imposed isolation. I can’t afford to catch this virus. I’m not taking any risks.
I am only now recovering from the severe Strep infection I picked up from a client who came to see me while sick earlier this year. I’m still exhausted. I still have a mild cough. I get tired quickly from any form of exertion. The bug that caused a mild earache and sore throat for my client flattened me. Months later I am still not back to where I was before I got sick.
Why did I get sick? An infected person came into my personal space. That’s why I am not seeing clients face-to-face this year. You can be infectious with COVID-19 and not display any symptoms. I just can’t take that risk.
A couple of my clients who have tested positive for COVID-19 have had few symptoms or none. But many more who tested positive have been to hell and back. Many of my clients who survived COVID-19 infections are still not ‘back to normal’ after their illnesses even though they no longer test positive for the virus. They have ongoing issues with breathlessness, loss of cognitive function, loss of lung function, kidney problems, digestive issues, heart problems and some are also recovering from strokes, amputations and other clotting injuries. They are emotionally traumatised and some have now got PTSD and post-viral syndrome. Clients and/or their family members have died from this infection.
The best way to deal with COVID-19 is to not get it in the first place.
If you’re immuno-compromised or in a higher risk group you’ll find this post useful for tips about how to manage your wellbeing as people start to come out of isolation.
Meanwhile, I’m working happily from home. If you’d like to book a session with me you can do that by contacting Simone at admin@nicolecody.com – we won’t be meeting face-to-face, I’ll be working with you screen to screen, and I promise, apart from the hug, it will be just as good.
Stay safe, stay cautious, stay alert, and look after yourselves and each other.
All my love, Nicole xx
