Are You Ready To Reclaim Friday the 13th As A Day Of Love?

I’ve always found the superstition and fear around Friday the 13th a little odd. The word Friday comes from the time of the old Gods. Freya, Frigg and Venus  were each the Goddess of Love for their respective pre-Christian cultures. Until the patriarchal Christian religious beliefs came into vogue, Friday was a day named to honour love, sex, feminine energy, family, fertility and creativity.

The number 13 has also had an unhappy makeover. It was once held to be a sacred feminine number. The average number of menstrual cycles a woman has in a year is thirteen. There are thirteen lunar cycles in a year. Thirteen was considered a number of potent good fortune – representing lunar energy and intuition, luck, fertility, and the Great Goddess. During the Middle Ages it became associated with both the thirteenth Apostle and the betrayal of Christ, and also the arrest, torture and burning at the stake of hundreds of the Knights Templar at the orders of King Philip on Friday 13 October, 1307.

‘Friday the Thirteenth’ has gradually become known as a day of ‘witchcraft’, bad luck, danger and death. Such is the level of fear that the number thirteen evokes that this fear even has a scientific name; ‘triskaidekaphobia’; and the fear of Friday the Thirteenth is called ‘paraskevidekatriaphobia’.

Today I choose to reclaim Friday the Thirteenth as a celebration of love, intuition, cycles of life, connection to self, soul and soulmates, fertility in all its forms and a day to honour Mother Earth.

10 Reasons Why You Need My End-Of-Year Retreat!

My Kind of Happiness – Mystical Crystals

Many years ago when I lived in the Kimberley – that wild outback corner of remote Western Australia – my Aboriginal Aunties showed me how to make stones sing, and how to infuse them with the energies of plants and places.

I’ve put that knowledge to good use this past few months as I have prepared crystals for my final two retreats of the year.

Yesterday I walked our farm here in Byron Bay, digging up crystals that have sat beneath trees and significant plants as the sun and moon have transitted overhead for many months. The crystals are all natural beauties, and now they hold qualities beyond their original energies – just like my students will soon, when we have finished our retreat together.

Today’s task is to write in each journal I will gift my students, adding a photograph of the plant under which their stones have come into their additional qualities, and an explanation of what those energies are.

It’s a labour of love that will take many hours, but I have ample tea and my little farmhouse has been transformed into a workstation for stones and books and bags and other gifts and tools we shall use together on this next retreat, which begins on Saturday.

There are many other things in store for my participants, but I shan’t disclose them here because I don’t want to ruin the surprises! This retreat is my Temple of Light – a shamanic guided meditation retreat, and one of my favourite and most transformative meditation techniques ever.

Our final retreat will be in Byron Bay, Australia, from Saturday 25 November to Friday 1 December – a delicious week of Working With Crystals, where I’ll be teaching you how to connect, heal, create, infuse, grid, program, meditate and make magic with crystals. This is the first time I will have shared most of this information. I’ll be teaching the sorts of things you can’t learn from books, the sorts of things that have been passed to me by other Elders, and of course my Aunties. It’s a very Soul Sanctuary affair, this final retreat of the year, full of learning but also of rest and rejuvenation energies. So there will also be time for beach swims and little adventures in Byron Bay and some pool time in our bright summer sun. And yes, it’s suitable for total beginners as well as advanced practitioners.

Full Moon Meditation and Journalling Exercise for Releasing Fear – January 2017

Are you done with fear holding you back and keeping you small?

Me too.

Fear is the big thing that stops so many of us from living a more fully expressed life. Fear limits us. It stops us from being ourselves. It stops us from taking risks, from starting, from trying, from becoming. Tonight’s full moon brings favourable energies to help us move past fear and into connection with our authentic selves. From that place of truth we can then dream a new life, a new self, a new future into being. This is perfect timing as we sit in the first month of the first cycle of a whole new energetic era!

For the next four days we’ll be influenced by the Full Moon in Cancer. This moon supports us as we travel into and through our deepest fears and insecurities. It’s a time for exploring and owning what has been repressed, forgotten or shoved to one side in our lives. It’ a time for naming and letting go of these old beliefs and behaviours. It’s a great time to facilitate a gathering awareness of our truth and a strengthening sense of wholeness for ourselves.

Wholeness centers us. It returns flow, hope, strength and inspiration to our lives. We need more of that in the world right now. As you move from fear back into flow you hold a strong and stable vibration that will exert a positive energetic influence on the world around you. So, thank you for doing this! Let’s Begin!

Choosing a Crystal

You may wish to choose a crystal to work with this while you journal. It is entirely optional, and you’d be fine without one too – but for my fellow rock lovers, read on…

(If you’re working with my Year of ME Planner, please choose a different stone to your 2017 Gratitude Crystal! – You could use your citrine or chrysocolla stone though. )

You can hold this crystal as you write or meditate, place it under your pillow or beside your bed while you sleep, or carry it in your pocket to help you stay focused.

You could choose your stone based on what most appeals to you. That’s a very valid approach. But if you need a little direction, good crystals to work with this week include:

  • Clear Quartz or Quartz with Inclusions or Phantoms
  • Citrine
  • Smoky Quartz
  • Hematite
  • Fluorite
  • Amethyst
  • Tiger Iron
  • Chrysocolla
  • Petrified Wood

Preparatory Meditation:

We can’t think, or be in flow, if we are stressed and uptight. Before you begin to reflect on and journal your exploratory questions, take a minute or two to perform this simple meditation.

Belly Breathing Technique

Before you begin writing, sit or lie quietly. Place your crystal in one hand and then put that hand over your heart. Place your other hand low on your abdomen. Close your eyes if it feels comfortable to do so.

Feel for the moon. It doesn’t matter if it is day or night when you do this. The full moon’s energy is strong. Draw this energy down and imagine the moon’s energy wrapping around you like a silvery cloak. Let this energy calm, nurture and hold you.

Now take 6 deep breaths.

For each breath, when you inhale focus on your belly rising out further than your chest.

Take 6 long, slow and unforced breaths, gently allowing your hands to rise and fall with your chest and belly.

You’ll feel your body relax and unwind. You can breathe normally after six breaths or do another cycle of six.

Visualise a colour in your crystal, or if you are just using your hands, visualise a colour in the palm of your hand above your heart. Breathe in to activate your hands and let that colour expand, so that it links both of your hands. You’ll now have a glow of coloured energy sitting from your throat to your groin. That light is healing and energising. Don’t think about it too much. Just let it be there in the background.

Now take 6 more long, slow and unforced breaths, gently allowing your hands to rise and fall with your chest and belly. Feel all of the tension drain away. Feel yourself open to your intuition and to the moon’s guidance.

When you’re ready open you eyes, still feeling your connection to your crystal and the moon.

Now you’re ready to write!

Journal Questions:

Write the answers to your questions on loose sheets of paper, or paper that can be easily removed from a book or notepad. At the end of this activity you will burn these sheets to complete the meditation and release ritual.

If you are working on a computer or tablet, you will need to delete the file. (Or print, delete file and then burn pages!)

You can choose any or all of the questions below. Write as much or as little as you need. It could be three words or three pages. Spread it out over a few days, or spend a solid hour or two over one day – it’s up to you! If you’re in flow, keep going and see where it takes you. Be brave, and write from your heart. Let all your fear, worry and insecurity fall onto the page as you write.The idea is to get to out of your head, and out of your body and onto the page.

If you’re using a crystal, hold it in your non-writing hand, or place it in your lap or pocket.

 

If you don’t know how to answer something, ask yourself What am I resisting here? What can this teach me about myself? And then be brave and go deeper. Breathe into it. Keep writing.

When you have finished, and there is no more to say about that question, write I now release these fears and limiting thoughts. With the Moon as my witness I move back into flow. I open myself to new and better possibilities. Then sign your name. Do this for each question that you answer.

  2. When I think about my health, and living with vitality, my fear is that…
  3. When I think about my sexuality, and about taking pleasure in my body, my fear is that…
  4. When I think about my family, my fear is that…

  7. When I think about my art, my fear is that…
  8. When I think about my home and my living space, my fear is that…
  9. When I think about travel, my fear is that…
  10. When I think about my career, my fear is that…
  11. When I think about my business, my fear is that…
  12. When I think about friendship, my fear is that…
  13. When I think about what others think of me, and how they may perceive me, my fear is that…
  14. When I think about my personal appearance, my fear is that…
  15. When I think about who I could become, my fear is that…
  16. When I think about this idea I have, my fear is that…
  17. When I think about my country, my fear is that…
  18. When I think about the environment, my fear is that…
  19. When I think about world events, my fear is that…
  20. When I think about the future, my fear is that…

When you are done, sit for a moment and close your eyes. Place one hand back on your heart and one low on your belly. Breathe in and out six times, being aware of the rise and fall of your chest and belly, being aware of the radiating colour that links your hands. Feel yourself connected to the moon and to a place of deep calm.

Open your eyes.

In your own time, and in a way that is safe for yourself and for those around you, burn your pages. You could do this outside, or over a barbeque, fireplace or in a large heatproof pot or bowl. Let the flames render your fears into ash. Let the ash be scattered on the winds, or washed down the drain and returned to the earth. You are done with it. It’s time to move on.

Keep being aware of your breath. Be aware of the energy in your hands. Be aware of the moon above you. Be aware of this new energy of calm and possibility you carry with you. You can use the crystal you have carried through this process as a reminder and talisman – linking you into this place of calm and flow.

So, my lovelies, I meditated at the crystal grid until 2am for all of us.

A huge effort, and this morning I am thoroughly exhausted. But happy.

So now we are off to the beach with Cafe Dog, for a walk and a cleansing swim.

After which I intend to come home and nap all day to integrate these new energies and to recover from the efforts of the past few weeks.

A New Moon Guided Meditation for Our Highest Potential – December 2016

Today, Thursday December 29 heralds the new moon. This moon closes the door not only on 2016, but on the entire thousands-of-years-old patriarchal energetic cycle that began its conclusion in 2012. This new moon welcomes in an entirely new energetic era – one of balanced masculine and feminine energy, one of hope and compassion, one of community, connection, information and advancement. It is my belief that you have chosen to be alive at this time as we straddle two worlds, the old and the new.

Tonight’s new moon brings a powerful energy for creating positive change and manifesting your heart’s desires. It is also a great time for connecting into your own intuitive wisdom, and deepening spiritual connection.

Everything is created first in the zero-point field, that place of potent emptiness that resides as the spaces between the fabric of existence.  The New Moon is potently linked to this space of possibility, where our thoughts and intents begin to shape matter itself into our new reality.

Tonight’s new moon also offers us something extra. It’s a moon that supports us being attuned to our highest potential for this lifetime and an opportunity for us to leave the past behind and to truly embrace a positive future.

Tonight I will be holding space in my personal meditation for you as I sit with our Ancestors and Songlines crystal grid here at my farm. I will be intending that you move into your heart-space, and reconnect with your own Soul Wisdom. I will be intending that your feet find their way in 2017. That your path becomes clear. That you can more easily be yourself. That you know and express yourself truly. That you live life to your highest potential. That you are loved for who you are. That you come to know how much you are loved.

Perform Your Own New Moon Ritual

I’ve also created a simple guided meditation and a series of rituals to help anchor your own intentions using the transformational forces of the moon as she moves from this place of darkness back into light.

You can do any or all of these simple practices, and you can do them today or any time in the next three days, up until January 1, 2017.

You’ll need this simple preparation:

  • choose a crystal or stone to hold in meditation
  • choose a  second stone or crystal to return to the earth after the meditation
  • have a glass of water ready
  • have a journal and a pen

 

Journal First:

Some time today, or before your meditation tonight, take your journal and write a letter to the Universe outlining what you intend to leave behind in the past.

This could be behaviours, attitudes, situations, relationships or any other thing that weighs you down or makes you feel bad within yourself.

Start with the words ‘I now release…’ and then add your list. When your letter to the Universe is finished sign it with the words ‘And it is so.” Then sign your name and add the date.

Begin again on a new page.

Sit in reflection, and then write down what you want to have, create or do, especially those things where you have previously been blocked by fear or insecurity.

Words that can be useful to help strengthen that state of creating or manifesting include the action words: claim, invoke, manifest, intend, believe, draw to me, welcome into my life, create, become, do, transform, embrace, love, adore, cherish, make, construct, transform.

Write a second letter to the Universe, beginning with the words, ‘As I step into my Highest Potential…’

Then list the things you wish to have, create or do. Be as broad or specific as feels right for you. Conclude your letter with the words. ‘I claim this and more, for my Highest Good. And it is so.’ Then sign your name and date it.

Keep your pages somewhere safe, although there is no need to read them again unless you are drawn to do so.

Standing Meditation for Clearing, Shifting and Healing your Psychic Self

This Meditation will ground you, as it opens you up to more of your own natural energetic and psychic ability.  It is very comforting for people who spend most of their day indoors, or in front of a computer.

Note: You will need your glass of water for this meditation.

  1. Find a place outside where you can comfortably stand barefoot on the skin of the earth.  If this is impossible in your climate then stand barefoot at a window or on timber floorboards. Find a place where you can do this without interruption.  It is up to you what time of the day you complete your practice.
  2. Drink half a glass of water.
  3. Then stand barefoot on the earth (or in your chosen place) with your face turned toward the sun (or the moon if you do this at night).
  4. Close your eyes.  Draw in sunlight through your heart chakra, or if it is night, draw in moonlight through your third eye.  If it’s cloudy, draw clouds and wind and rain and all those other elements into your belly via your sacral chakra (the second one up, three finger widths below your belly button. Do this for two to five minutes.  Let your body be energised, balanced and healed by the gifts of nature.
  5. When you’re finished, drink the rest of the glass of water.

Expect to feel different in the days to come.  Expect to be shown things in dreams, to become more perceptive and intuitive.  If you want to work with energy or psychic skills, expect them to become stronger and clearer.

Even if you do not want to choose a life path that is more actively spiritually and psychically connected, you will become more emotionally open, more energised, and more naturally intuitive.

Thank you, for working on your own self growth. Every time we do, it lifts the energy of Mass Consciousness.  Every time we clear and shift old energies, it makes its easier for ourselves and everyone else to become more open to our Soul Truth.

Simple Guided Meditation for Stepping Into Your Highest Potential

I’ve recorded a fifteen minute guided meditation for working with this new moon. You can use this meditation on any evening from tonight up until January 1, 2017, or on any future new moon to come to help keep you connected into this energetic support.

I’ll be starting my own meditation at 8pm AEST, if you’d like to tune in around that time, but I also love the idea of a wave of meditation across the world. Take a moment to tune into my crystal grid, and the central rose quartz stone. Send it a little love, light and positive intention. Feel that intention radiate back out into the world, amplified.

After your meditation is concluded you may want to hold your personal crystal and journal any insights that have come during your meditation, or that come after. Use this personal crystal any time you want to quickly connect back into this awareness of your connection and highest potential. It is a great meditation and journalling aid.

In your own time take the second stone and return it to nature. As you place it on the ground, or cast it into a river, lake or ocean, visualise the stone anchoring light, truth peace and hope. See it as a small beacon of light that is rippling out the energies of Highest Potential all over the world.
