Selflessness or Self Sacrifice? – Monday Oracle 11 September 2017

Hello, Lovelies!

If you read my forecast for September, you’ll know that it’s a month of possibility and expansive energy, of change and curiosity, and of starting small projects that may take a long time, but that we care about deeply. Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts which the oracle card Guilt brings us this week.

So, what awareness does Guilt bring us this week?

The overwhelming message this week is to stop doing for others what they could do for themselves, and to use your time on what matters to you!

Expect strong emotions this week, and use them as your compass. Projects, people and places may call to you. Maybe you want to dive right in to a new art project. Perhaps you’re deep in a renovation and all you want to do is keep going while your energy is high. You may feel compelled to spend time in nature, or hanging out with a friend. Or maybe you’re the opposite and you’ll feel the need to disconnect and be on your own for a while to recharge your batteries.

You may also be feeling guilty, resentful or angry because there are relationships, duties or tasks calling on your time, and you’d rather be somewhere else, doing something else!

Your emotions will help to show you your priorities and what truly matters to you on a soul level this week. Look to what excited you or engages you. Tune in to any anger or resentment you feel too. That will also tell you something. If you are tired of being the one who puts in all the effort in a relationship, if you’re feeling guilty because you’re spending time with someone out of duty when you’d much rather be anywhere else, if you’re pretending not to mind supporting someone else when really you feel taken for granted – all of these situations show you clearly what isn’t working for you.

This week pay attention to your feelings and let them show you where to put more of your energy and where to put less. It’s not selfish to look after your own needs, and there is little point in wasting precious time and energy on people and situations who have little regard for your efforts.

If self-sacrifice means you are sacrificing yourself in order to please or appease others then the price is too high. Selfless giving doesn’t cost your soul – it fills you up with love or gratitude or satisfaction instead. Make sure your service comes from selflessness! (How can you tell the difference? Tune in to your feelings. Are you drained {self sacrifice} or filled up {selflessness}? There’s your answer.)

This week brings great emotional clarity about life priorities, but with that clarity may also come the realisation that you can’t keep doing what you’ve always done. It may suddenly become urgent for you to make changes that allow what’s important to you to take more space in your life. That’s okay. Honour your needs and make those changes.

Each of the following oils will work beautifully on their own for you this week, but they also make a delicious combination for diffusing. Frankincense elevates our mood and promotes spiritual connection and intuition, Lavender keeps us in flow and relaxed,  Ylang Ylang opens our hearts and is supportive when we feel anxious or overwhelmed, and Orange for joy, gratitude and optimism. To diffuse add 2 or three drops of each oil to your room or personal diffuser. Sifting and Sorting! – Monday Oracle 28 August 2017

Hello, Lovelies,

If you read my forecast for August, you’ll remember that August brings an emerging energy of creativity, emotional healing and an abiding need for more balance in our lives. Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts which the oracle card Rejection brings us this week.

There are two aspects to the energies of the week ahead, and both of them relate to discernment. Let’s look at these aspects in more detail.

1. The act of discerning when making choices. This week we are supported to make good decisions – making choices about projects, business, art, life directions, partners and even moral choices or decisions – by weighing up the various options using our values and our wise internal compass to help guide us to the best option for us. (Note that the best choice for us may not be the choice approved of or understood by others.)

As we weigh up our choices we will reject those that don’t work for us/our project/our art/etc or that don’t adequately represent our values and personal alignment. Rejection is not a bad thing – it is merely an act of sifting and sorting to come up with the best decision for us.

Understanding this helps us to understand that when we are rejected (or our project, art etc) it is also simply a matter of someone else sifting and sorting for their best fit – no need to take it so personally.

2. Acting on our decisions, even at the risk of rejection. Part of the creative journey, the entrepreneur’s journey, the journey of love, the spiritual journey, the journey of the self is to risk judgement and rejection.

This week we are encouraged to act, to decide, to put ourselves out into the world. Being able to do this leads to an expanded sense of personal freedom and inner peace. We are encouraged to follow our hearts and our inspiration and to worry less about what others may think or how they might perceive us. What other people think of us is none of our business! The one person we need to please and satisfy with our decision-making is ourselves. Making choices to please other people, or worse – to please them at the expense of ourselves and our own dreams or needs, is never a good plan.

As we tune in to our hearts and make better choices for ourselves we will see doors opening for us, and windows into new possibilities and horizons.

Hello, Lovelies!

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen this Monday, and my take on the energetic outlook for the week ahead.

‘Wisdom’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

The week ahead is so well suited to supporting us as we seek to find direction, a path to follow, or a deeper sense of who we are and why we are here.

This week, tune in. How you do that is up to you. Get quiet. Go for a walk. Spend some time journalling. Play with your oracle or tarot cards. Do some yoga. Be in your body. Be with your soul. Listen to music. Get into your heart space. Take yourself on a little adventure that reconnects you to your sense of self.

This week things will become clearer. You’ll become aware of what needs to be healed or changed in your life.

Or you’ll suddenly see a way forward with these things that you were already aware of but were stuck on.

You’ll become better aware of what heals and nurtures you.

You’ll become better aware of what limits or poisons you.

Once you know that, move toward what is beneficial, and away from what is not.

Your heart will call to you. Your wise self will whisper to you. There is a place within you that always knows, and that will always guide you true.

All you need to do to work that out is tune in. Be still. And wait for the answers to come. As you slow down (even just for a few minutes each day) you begin to connect into your own intuitive wisdom, your own heart centre, your inner compass.

This week supports us to bring our lives back into balance and to do some physical and emotional spring cleaning.

It’s a great week for starting a new health regime, for cleaning up your diet, for getting your body moving again.

Get a massage.

Book in with a counsellor, a coach, a chiropractor, a therapist, your tax advisor or accountant.

What a beautiful week to help set us up in more balanced and healthy ways for 2017!

Trusting Your Instincts In Relationships

I have some friends going through hard times in relationships just now. They are wondering how they ended up where they are – with a lover who cheats, with a husband who suddenly wants out, with a boss who keeps lying.

When I’ve talked with them they’ve been so hurt, so distressed and devastated at what has happened.

Then they’ve asked the questions.

Why did this happen?

How did this happen?

Why did I not see this coming?

And the truth is, a wise part of them did see it coming. A wise part of them already knew. So, where did it all go so wrong?

All of us have intuition, and instinct. This force within us operates with a vast amount of information – not just our conscious awareness.

When I pressed my friends, eventually all of them admitted that there had been things in their relationship, from early on, that made them uncomfortable. Or there was a point where things began to change. And that point was a long way from where they are now.

In each situation, my friends had intuitively picked up on an energy or behaviour that was out of flow, out of truth – either with the way the person was presenting themselves within the relationship, or with my friend’s values and beliefs. My friends’ intuition had red-flagged something, using those feelings of discomfort and that instinctive knowledge to bring the situation to their conscious attention.

So why didn’t they allow themselves to be guided by that intuition? Quite simply, their mind got in the way. They discounted or second-guessed or validated that discomfort away. They saw what they wanted to see, or needed to see, rather than what was. They gave second chances, chose to believe what they were told, and shoved that discomfort back down where it no longer bothered them.

Haven’t you done that before? I know I have.

But that’s okay. Intuition is not a one time thing. Our internal wisdom will connect with us over and over again. Our job is to listen, and to pay attention. To give ourselves space to think things through and to honour these feelings and ideas that arise from deep inside us.

Of course, intuition doesn’t simply show us what’s wrong. It can also show us what’s good. We have a compulsion to introduce ourselves to someone at a party. Things blossom into a beautiful relationship.

Suddenly it seems like we can’t stop thinking about a business idea, or studying again. When we are brave enough to honour that instinctive direction we find ourselves loving the changes we have made. They feel so right for us.

We come to an awareness, without evidence or proof, that maybe the aloof girl or guy in the office is just shy, and when we make an effort to get to know them we find out that we were right.

Intuition says, Hey – let’s drive down this street for no apparent reason – come on, humour me! And there you find your dream house, or the shop with the thing you want, or an old college friend walking their dog, the same friend whose address you lost years ago and who you’d had no idea how to track down.

Intuition and instinct show us where we are out of flow with the Universe, and also how to get back into flow again, with relationships and actions that support our Highest Good.

So the big question is – are you honouring your intuition? Or are you second-guessing yourself?

Maybe it’s time you started paying attention, and trusting what comes up for you.

Welcome to Week 4 of our six week Making My Life Work for Me Program. (If you’re just joining us now, pop back and read the very first post so that you can gather the materials we’ll be using today and catch up with our prior activities.)

Our focus this week is on knowledge – and the acts of learning, sharing and valuing our own knowledge and skills.

Life is a learning journey, and we come here to teach as much as we come here to gain knowledge.  One of the ways to make our life work better for us is to identify areas where we’d like to learn more, and to acknowledge the things we already know and can do with a level of mastery.  I’m not just talking school learning – one of my best friends, a woman with very little formal education, has just begun teaching sewing lessons, and it has turned into a thriving business for her.

Instructions:

We follow the same format each week.  Read through this entire post before you get started. You can do the activities all on one day, or spread them put over the week – whatever works best for you.

Meditation:

Using Your Journal:

Go back to the front of your journal and read your Pledge out loud.

You’ve committed to making a better life for yourself.  A better life means valuing your time and your skills, investing in yourself, and setting clear boundaries.  Be open to knowledge in all its forms as you work with your journal this week.

Feel free to use your paints, coloured pens, glitter and stickers to make your journal visually attractive. Be mindful of words and what they mean to you this week.  Look for words that make you feel clear, focused and powerful.,

Card of the Week: 

2013-03-24 16.30.18Let’s start our week by selecting some reflective spiritual Guidance.  Take your deck of positive cards, or your rune bag.  Close you eyes and offer up a prayer for the Highest Good, and then quiet your mind.

Randomly select a card/rune, trusting that it will have a message to guide you this week.  Write down the name of the card/rune and the message.  Feel free to add any additional thoughts or insights you might have.

This week’s card, chosen by me, bears an important message. We often think of boundaries as limitations, but boundaries can have many positive advantages in our lives, if we use them to protect what is precious to us.

Take some time to reflect on the boundaries in your life.  Do you expect respect, or do you let people take advantage of you? Do you make room for your own interests and dreams, or does everyone else come first?

Week 4 Journal Activity:

On a new page write a stream of consciousness around the question What knowledge and skills can I share with the world?  Think outside the square.  What are you good at?  What do you enjoy doing? Where have you developed skill and expertise? What do you enjoy doing, or teaching others? Draw pictures or mind map if you feel like it. Think right back to when you were young, and then follow the path of your life to the present, and beyond that into the future.

And this week’s creative activity is:

Collage – The Essence of ME and All that I’m Becoming  Today’s collage will help you to understand what your soul loves to do and share, and the learning paths you might follow into the future, to further enrich your life.

Take your pile of old magazines and place them in front of you.  Holding your crystal close your eyes and say out loud “Universe, I am open to all Guidance and my own Higher Wisdom to help me understand my own wisdom and my future possibilities.”  Take a moment and sit in that energy, really feeling yourself connecting into and opening to all that your soul knows now and desires still to learn.

Then when you’re ready, open your eyes and start flicking through the magazines.  If any pictures or words appeal to you, cut or rip them out and place them beside you. When you have enough images cut them up neatly, and then spend some time arranging them on a page or double page of your journal. Let the images and words inspire and inform you. If your journal isn’t big enough, feel free to use a sheet of cardboard. Glue your images to the page and leave it open to dry.

What’s already working in your life?  List five things in your journal each day that you are grateful for in your life.

Nightly Healing :

Get into bed and spend five minutes lying quietly in meditation with your eyes closed.  Call on God, Universal Energy, your Angels, your Guides, your Ancestors, whomever you feel comfortable and safe with.  Ask for their help.  Fill your body with white light, and then draw coloured light (just allow a colour to come to you) through your crown chakra (an energy point on the top of your head) and send it anywhere in your body that needs healing.  Feel the warmth as the energy radiates through your body, uplifting and healing you.  Know that answers will come while you are sleeping.

Give thanks, send this same healing gift from you to anyone or anywhere else if it feels right, and then sleep.  Expect dreams that clarify, empower and enlighten. Wishing you a wonderful week.

Making My Life Work for Me – Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of our six week Making My Life Work for Me Program. (If you’re just joining us now, pop back and read the very first post so that you can gather the materials we’ll be using today.) This week our focus is on being open to new ideas, new solutions and things that have been lurking in our subconscious that we have been too stressed, tired, wired or defeated to pay any real attention to.  There’s good stuff in that head of yours.  There’s treasure for sure!

We will be following the same format each week.  Read through this entire post before you get started. You can do the activities all on one day, or spread them put over the week – whatever works best for you.

Meditation:

We’re going to start with a meditation. But today it’s an active meditation. Find a song or piece of music you love and queue it ready to play.  Hold your crystal and drape your scarf or shawl around your shoulders.  Start your song and then close your eyes.  Lose yourself to the music.  Let the music get right inside you. When the song finishes sit for a minute, absorbing the energy, and be open to what comes next. The music will deliver a message to you.  Be open to it, and write it down in your journal. It could be lyrics, an image, an idea.  Trust whatever comes to you. This week, in quiet moments, expand on what this message means to you, and how you can begin to incorporate this energy in your life.

Do this straight after your meditation, when you are ready and open for receiving! Close your eyes and use your imagination. See yourself the way you want yourself to be in the world.  Feel the emotions that come with this, and have gratitude and expectation of drawing these things into your life.  Really put some energy into this.  You can repeat this step again this week (even daily) if it feels right.  Thoughts are things, and this is how you manifest in the Universe!

Using Your Journal:

Go back and re-read your Pledge.  Think about your commitment to making this new life for yourself: one that fits you much better, one that gives you far better satisfaction and scope for joy. Hold this energy of possibility in your heart as you work with your journal this week.

Feel free to use your paints, coloured pens, glitter and stickers to make your journal visually attractive.  Get involved in the creation process and let your Inner Child rock your world, in the very best of ways!

Week 2 Journal Activity:

Write as little or as much as you need to. Simply ask yourself the question and then answer it, letting the words pour out of you. If you feel blocked get up and go for a walk.  Play your song again, and then write! Draw pictures or mind map if you feel like it. If you cry or have some other emotional release understand that this is a good thing.

And now for some fun…

Collage – Things that inspire me.  Take your pile of old magazines and place them in front of you.  Holding your crystal close your eyes and say out loud “Universe, I am open to all Guidance and my own Higher Wisdom to show me the things inspire me, and show me beneficial direction in my life.”  Take a moment and sit in that energy, really feeling yourself connecting into and opening to that wisdom.

Then when you’re ready, open your eyes and start flicking through the magazines.  If any pictures or words appeal to you, cut or rip them out and place them beside you. When you have enough images cut them up neatly, and then spend some time arranging them on a page or double page of your journal.  If your journal isn’t big enough, feel free to use a sheet of cardboard. Begin by writing the following pledge into the front of your journal.  When it’s written, repeat it out loud, with as much sincerity as you can muster. That way the Universe is put on notice of your intentions:

Dear Universe,

I am open to the possibility that there is more for me in this life, and I am ready to receive clarity, direction and inspiration.

I am so very grateful for my life, and for the learning and growth opportunities I am being shown.

I am ready to embrace positive change and to accept an avalanche of good in my life. 

My commitment to you is that for the next 6 weeks (and beyond) I am willing to explore my heart, to connect with my innermost wisdom, look for and name things I am thankful for, and to celebrate the many Blessings I already have.

Card of the Week: 

2013-03-24 16.30.18Take your deck of positive cards, or your rune bag.  Close you eyes and offer up a prayer for the Highest Good, and then quiet your mind.

Randomly select a card/rune, trusting that it will have a message to guide you this week.  Write down the name of the card/rune and the message.  Feel free to add any additional thoughts or insights you might have.

I chose a card for us as well, just to set the tone. It’s a fitting start for us, don’t you think?

Week 1 Journal Activity:

On a clean page write a stream of consciousness around the question What do I need most right now?  Write as little or as much as you need to. Simply ask yourself the question and then answer it, letting the words pour out of you. Draw pictures or mind map if you feel like it. If you cry or have some other emotional release understand that this is a good thing!

And now for some fun…

Collage – Things that are good for me.  Take your pile of old magazines and place them in front of you.  Holding your crystal close your eyes and say out loud “Universe, I am open to all Guidance and my own Higher Wisdom to show me the things that nourish and support me right now.”  Take a moment and sit in that energy, really feeling yourself connecting into and opening to that wisdom.

Then when you’re ready, open your eyes and start flicking through the magazines.  If any pictures or words appeal to you, cut or rip them out and place them beside you. When you have enough images cut them up neatly, and then spend some time arranging them on a page or double page of your journal.  If your journal isn’t big enough, feel free to use a sheet of cardboard. Glue your images to the page and leave it open to dry.  Now you have a strong visual reminder of what’s good for you, so that you can begin to make choices that bring more of this energy into your life.

Gratitude:

What’s already working in your life?  List five things in your journal each day that you are grateful for in your life.

Nightly Healing :

Get into bed and spend five minutes lying quietly in meditation with your eyes closed.  Call on God, Universal Energy, your Angels, your Guides, your Ancestors, whomever you feel comfortable and safe with.  Ask for their help.  Fill your body with white light, and then draw coloured light (just allow a colour to come to you) through your crown chakra (an energy point on the top of your head) and send it anywhere in your body that needs healing.  Feel the warmth as the energy radiates through your body, uplifting and healing you.  Know that answers will come while you are sleeping.

Give thanks, send this same healing gift from you to anyone or anywhere else if it feels right, and then sleep.  Rest well, my friends, and have a beautiful and inspired week.
