Day 11 – Oracle Card Challenge

“Hide not your talents, they for use were made,
What’s a sundial in the shade?”
~ Benjamin Franklin

Strengths and Gifts to Call On

Often the things that we are good at, and the talents and gifts for which other people value us and our contribution, are things that are not clear to ourselves!

Today’s challenge will help you to redefine and become clear about what these strengths and gifts are.  Once we know this, we can deliberately and consciously choose to use them in our lives. Result? We always move into greater flow and personal satisfaction.

Here’s what you need to do.

Take your crystal, and complete this short guided meditation:

Hold your stone in your cupped hands, close your eyes, and slow your breathing. Bring white light into your body until you feel peaceful and calm. Then bring white light into the crystal too. Allow yourself to connect to the stone. You may feel it tingle, or visualise a colour in your mind’s eye. When you are ready, open your eyes. Keep your stone near you, and hold it when you write.

Now shuffle your cards, while silently asking the question to yourself ‘What are my strengths and gifts that will best support me and my dreams right now?’

When you have shuffled the cards and they feel ‘done’, select three cards using the method that feels right for you.

Place the cards face up in front of you.

Clear your mind by closing your eyes and taking one deep breath in and then out. Open your eyes again. Take a minute and look at the first picture.

What stands out for you today? Is it an image or a colour? Is it a number or a word? What are your first impressions? What thoughts come into your mind? Do this for each card and write your responses down in your journal.

Now let’s go a little deeper. What feelings or words do each card evoke in your mind when you think about the card and its images in relation to the question ‘What are my strengths and gifts that will best support me and my dreams right now?’ Write some stream-of-consciousness thoughts down for each card. Don’t censor or judge them. Trust the process. Draw a second card for clarification if you need to.

Finally, read back over what you have written.

It is useful to revisit and read over this information often. We are almost always painfully aware of our faults, but we need many reminders about our gifts!

Hugs and love, Nicole <3 xx

Day 9 – Oracle Card Challenge

“Home wasn’t a set house, or a single town on a map. It was wherever the people who loved you were, whenever you were together. Not a place, but a moment, and then another, building on each other like bricks to create a solid shelter that you take with you for your entire life, wherever you may go.”
~ Sarah Dessen

Home and Heartland

Today’s question will mean different things to different people, so work this according to your circumstances. For some people this activity will be about home – where you live, and your home environment. For others it will be about your heartland – a project dear to your heart, your happy place when you are spending time doing this thing.

If you feel that you need direction in both areas, do this activity twice. Once for each situation.

Now shuffle your cards, while silently asking the question to yourself ‘What do I most need to know about my home?’ or ‘What do I most need to know about my heartland?’

When you have shuffled the cards and they feel ‘done’, select one card using the method that feels right for you.

Place the card face up in front of you.

Clear your mind by closing your eyes and taking one deep breath in and then out. Open your eyes again. Take a minute and look at the picture.

no peace like home

What stands out for you today? Is it an image or a colour? Is it a number or a word? What are your first impressions? What thoughts come into your mind?

Write these down in your journal.

Now let’s go a little deeper. What feelings or words does this card evoke in your mind when you think about the card and its images in relation to the question ‘What do I most need to know about my home?’ or ‘What do I most need to know about my heartland?’ Take five minutes and write some stream-of-consciousness thoughts down. Don’t censor or judge them. Trust the process. Draw a second card for clarification if you need to.

Finally, read back over what you have written.

This is a good activity to come back and add to over time!

Much love, and I hope you’re enjoying this challenge, Nicole xx

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”
~ Mary Oliver

I saw a new lyme doctor yesterday. Why a new doctor? It goes like this:

The first doctor I saw diagnosed me but wouldn’t treat me because ‘lyme was contentious and he was trying to fly under the radar’. My second doctor treated me aggressively with antibiotics and herbs, saving my life. The AMA put restrictions on his practice and prevented him from offering treatment to lyme patients. My third doctor – highly respected as a lyme physician here in Australia – had one appointment with me, where he prescribed a new and intense drug regime, shortly after which he took leave of absence for health reasons. I waited and waited for him to come back to work, and then found out in late December that he was no longer treating lyme patients as their immediate physician.

Meanwhile symptoms I’d not had for a long time had flared up, new problems had emerged, and I was keen to find someone who knew what they were doing and who could offer me continuity of care. After realising there was no-one in charge of me and not likely to be for some time I’ve been winging it, with a little help from my kind and courageous GP, and my own intuition. Winging it, I think I’ve done quite well, but still, I’m no doctor.

As you might imagine, I woke apprehensive. Discussions with other doctors had suggested that this year I’d have an even more harsh offering of drugs to take. That this year would need to be hard-core to make up the ground I’d so recently lost. I’d been told I’d need to see this new doctor and follow her own strict protocols as well as conventional lyme protocols for at least a year to get results.

I’m so tired of the pain, the brutality, the isolation imposed by both the disease and the treatment. As I lay in bed yesterday I offered up a prayer to the Universe. Let me get my answer today, I affirmed. I promise that whatever I am shown, I will honour that path.

In my mind I’d already decided that this doctor would be the last one. Intuition had led me to her. I’d already been given guidance in my channelled sessions that this year I would eventually forgo drugs. I would eventually forsake the last vestiges of traditional medicine, and I would find a way to heal, thoroughly and well.

This is it, I thought. My last roll of the dice.

But it didn’t feel like luck. It felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff, from which I would either fall or fly.

Paradigm shift. They were the words that kept playing in my head. Those words and the fragment of a Mary Oliver poem, Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

I knew I was missing something. Some vital thing. A  key that would unlock this whole mess. A clue that would break me open and in the same breath begin to piece me back together again; gently, gracefully and with meaning.

I sat in the doctor’s office and we talked shop. Drugs, stats, bloods, symptoms, history. The usual. All the things she’d asked for.

‘You’re psychic,’ she said, reading my file, where for once I’d been bold enough to list that as my occupation. ‘That’s a real gift. Intelligent too, I can see. No-one would have developed this complexity of treatment protocols for themselves without deep intelligence.’

She looked at me, and held my gaze. ‘This isn’t my usual approach. But I assume you’re good at what you do too. I can see you have most of this under control. I don’t need to spend time discussing diet and nutrition with you. You’ve done most of the things I would recommend. I can see how sick you’ve been. How sick you still are. And you and I both know I can’t heal you – that healing comes from some other place. So, what do you need to heal – quickly, easily and with grace? How could you love your dis-ease?’

This wasn’t how I’d expected the session to go. I’d expected that she would tell me.

‘It’s funny,’ I said to her after pausing to gather my thoughts. ‘I fought so hard not to be psychic. But lyme stripped everything else away from me until it was the only thing left that I could do.’

I thought a bit more, and a realisation came to me like rays of light penetrating a deep dark forest. ‘You know,’ I said, leaning towards her, ‘when I do my psychic work, no matter how ill I might be, I move into a different space. A higher vibration. For that time I operate as if I don’t have lyme. And the effect lasts for a few hours afterwards, before I eventually come back into this disease state.’

She kept looking at me, holding that space for me, and suddenly I knew. Words tumbled out of me…

‘I’ve been so ashamed to be who I am. To be psychic. I’ve felt so guilty that I did not turn out the way my parents and teachers expected. The way society expected.’ I knew it to be true as they were coming out of my mouth. Guilt. Shame. Judgement. Such low vibration words. The complete opposite of the way I felt when I was firmly in my truth, owning my gift and living as a psychic, a shaman, as a spirit woman, guide and teacher. There I was open, I was light, I was in flow and everything in the world was beautiful and good. I was everything and everything was in me, and it was all as it should be. Peaceful. Blissful. Oneness.

There was more. I realised that I’d always held an expectation that when I eventually became well, that I should go back to my corporate life – the life in which my family and I had been so invested.

How could I ever be well when being well would mean walking away from my soul truth and my integrity to go back to living a life path dictated by others?

The shift in me was strong and immediate. Peace surged through me and calm lit every cell.

All I needed to do was own who I am. The beauty and the power and the strange rightness of this life. Of my skills and talents. Of my passion and my gift.

We both decided I need a light amount of drugs for a mop-up of one of my co-infections. A little retweaking of this and that, some healing and rewiring at an energetic level. I’ll keep using my herbs and essential oils. I’ll keep using my meditation and energetic healing. We’ll play it by ear, listen to my body’s own wisdom and see where that takes me. There’s some rebuilding to be done, some repair. But it is all fixable. It’s already shifting.

Finally, I have found a doctor who speaks my language and who can respect and mirror back to me what I most need to hear.

When I got home there was a message in my inbox. Dana, my PA, had forwarded me a poem sent by a lady called Illona. Thank you, Illona. It was so very timely.

It’s no coincidence that it’s also a Mary Oliver Poem.

I present the message in its entirety below:

Message: Nicole, I see this so much as who you are:

Today again I am hardly myself.

It happens over and over.

It is heaven-sent.

It flows through me

like the blue wave.

Green leaves – you may believe this or not – have once or twice emerged from the tips of my fingers

somewhere

deep in the woods,

in the reckless seizure of spring.

Though, of course, I also know that other song, the sweet passion of one-ness.

Just yesterday I watched an ant crossing a path, through the tumbled pine needles she toiled.

And I thought: she will never live another life but this one.

And I thought: if she lives her life with all her strength

is she not wonderful and wise?

And I continued this up the miraculous pyramid of everything

until I came to myself.

And still, even in these northern woods, on these hills of sand, I have flown from the other window of myself to become white heron, blue whale,

red fox, hedgehog.

Oh, sometimes already my body has felt like the body of a flower!

Sometimes already my heart is a red parrot, perched among strange, dark trees, flapping and screaming.

— Mary Oliver

big hugs

Oh my goodness how that validated everything I had seen and felt and known earlier that day. It was as if the Universe herself had turned up in my inbox to reflect to me the truth of that insight I was finally brave enough to own in my heart.

There is such wisdom and grace in the world when you open yourself to it.

Bless xoxo

2015 – Guidance for the Year Ahead

tumblr_mavn6key1T1rd2zpyo1_500

“Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.”
~ William Jennings Bryan

“Ah, Nothing is too late, till the tired heart shall cease to palpitate.”
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Happy New Year and welcome to the energies of 2015!  I have no doubt you’ve already begun to feel the pull of this new year. Her bright possibility and call to action are loud and clear. She is intoxicating in her sway.

Let me tell you more about her!

I have one tarot deck that I use only for the first day of the new year.  For over 20 years I have worked with this deck as a touchstone to set the themes of my year ahead so that I might live with greater awareness and understanding.  I don’t use the cards as a predictive tool – rather I use them for reflection, and to seek guidance about qualities, actions and perspectives that might benefit me over the next twelve months.

Just after midnight I asked for one card for you – to give YOU guidance over the year ahead.  This is my personal interpretation of that card for you.

Take what resonates as truth for you, and discard the rest.

THE MOON – Insights for 2015

“The Moon’s gates reveal the unlimited splendour of the Soul.” ~ Anon

2014 was a consolidation year – a year to anchor dreams, to commit to change, to end things and to lock things down. It was a year for facing up to our reality, including problems and long-standing issues. It was a year that supported the logical and rational.

In 2014 we began to see that it would no longer be enough to live to please others, or to make our life a quest for external acknowledgement and approval. 2014 required us to dig deeper, and to begin to understand who we truly are, and what calls us. 2014 made us re-evaluate, to long for and begin to work towards wholeness. It also helped us to find and appreciate our inner strength and tenacity.

2015 is a year of expansion. A year of possibility and opportunity. There is so much that this new year can gift us. But it demands something in return.

Authenticity. A need to drop the mask and present ourselves honestly – with vulnerability, and with all of our glorious imperfection.

To make the most of 2015 we really do need to start by being true to ourselves. And then we must make choices based on alignment with our authenticity.

If we do that, magic will begin to happen!

2015 is remarkable for two main reasons:

1. We are being given the opportunity to finally let go of significant limiting behaviours, patterns, relationships and beliefs that have been holding us back, and that no longer serve us. To do this we must first sit in awareness, and catch ourselves in that space of limitation. Then in the moment, make a different choice. Think differently, speak differently, behave differently. Don’t live on automatic pilot. Take responsibility for our choices and actions. There is so much power available to us when we live our life from the present moment with clarity, focus and awareness.

walkaway

2. 2015 is also about advancement. The Universe is encouraging us to go after what we want, and what supports our life purpose and Highest Good. It’s a year for dreaming big, but it is also a year of ACTION. We’ll do best with a plan, some definable goals, and a mindset of growth and expansion. Think learning, possibility, support and vision. Take advantage of opportunity, and actively work to bring about change and growth. We must make an effort in order to see an outcome.

tumblr_mcctye1qUw1r0on9vo1_500

In 2015, to really grow and shine, we MUST let go of making decisions based upon duty and the need to gain approval and acceptance from others. We must begin to live for ourselves, being true to our own needs and desires. Not from a place of selfishness. No. From a place of honesty. From a place of valuing ourselves as much as we value others.

Being honest is important in 2015, and that may be a difficult road if we’ve been lying to ourselves about what we want, what makes us happy, or if we’ve created a life around putting other people and their happiness ahead of our own. We’ll need to own our truth, our limitations, our obstacles. We’ll need to own where we are right now in order to have any hope of scaling the heights of our own possibility.

At the same time, we’ll feel that we just CAN’T go on living the way we have been. We’ll be compelled to hold ourselves to a higher standard. We’ll crave that opportunity to liberate ourselves and to be more fully whole.

There is a great opportunity this year for us to remake ourselves, redefine ourselves and make considerable progress in the areas that matter most to us.

We will find that it no longer works for us to be in jobs, relationships and situations that compromise our integrity and prevent us from living authentically in the world. We will also find that we can’t keep treating ourselves meanly and with a lack of respect or care.

Our hearts and heads are finally learning to work together. We’ll be able to hear that clarion call of our intuition, and the music in our heart – and it will drown out those old stories of duties, limitations and perceived lack.

This coming year also provides the energy for drawing to ourselves lovers, life partners, friends, colleagues and business associates who WILL uplift and support us in our quest for greater authenticity and truth in our lives and our loves.

2015 is a powerful year that will be noticeably and meaningfully shaped by our choices, decisions and actions. For people who have done the self work, and who are prepared to continue to ask more of themselves, 2015 will be the year where it all changes…

For the better, of course. 🙂

I’m wishing you your best year yet! A year rich with meaning, and filled with love, support, kindness, well-being and flow.

Bless ♥ Nicole xx

Wise Birds Come Visiting

Moon-and-Cockys1

“One day you live somewhere, you call dat country home. Smell like dis place. Earth. Sea. But make you happy again. We send all dem black fella birds remind you your promise. Remind you your story. Then you know it’s time. Time to be dat story. Live dat story in your heart. Live your true Dreaming.” ~ Auntie

I woke yesterday to the mournful cry of the black cockatoos. Black cockatoos are never just birds for me. They are a spiritual presence in my life. A strong tie back to the land where I was first welcomed to country, the wild remote Kimberley of Western Australia.

Now I live on the opposite side of Australia, but this place ties me energetically back to the Kimberley, and my wise old Aboriginal Aunties. Somehow, living here, they feel stronger in my heart.

This country where I have my farm, Byron Bay and its hinterland, is home to the Arakwal People. The Bundjalung mob have called this place home for thousands of years. There is strong Aboriginal energy here. It nurtures me at every turn.

The past few days I’ve been feeling better. Stronger. Yesterday I woke with a sense of energy and purpose for the first time in over a year.

As I sat in meditation the mournful cries of black cockatoos seeped into my consciousness. At the end of my meditation, as I stretched and breathed the cool morning air I watched them sitting in the big old hoop pine near my back door. So many of them.

There’s my Aunties“, I thought to myself, and tears pricked my eyes. My heart was back in country, and I could feel the red dust in my veins.

Soon Ben and I were in the ute, driving down to Byron Bay to read the papers and have an early morning coffee.

I took a notebook and began jotting some ideas down. To one side I also wrote a shopping list on the back of an old envelope, because its been weeks since I’ve been well enough to shop and we’re running low on basics.

“Good,” Ben said as he sipped his coffee. “Shopping. We’ll go tomorrow.”

I was careful not to let him see the ever-expanding list beneath it.

I began to plan some ideas and goals for the weeks and months ahead. Mostly they were things to write. Old manuscripts to edit and tidy up for submission. Some e-books and courses. Things for my new website. Words to get down on the page, bit by bit, now that my brain is working and I have a little more energy. Things I thought I should be writing.

I was proud of myself. It was a sensible list, with no crazy deadlines. It would allow me to rest, write and rest some more. But oh, how good it felt to be creating some kind of plan.

As we sat on the sidewalk outside Mary Ryan’s a sudden mad cacophany of screeching filled the air. What seemed like a battalion of white cockatoos flew directly up the street, making a line for the hoop pines that rim the edge of the beach. Some of them alighted in the paperback above me. A single white feather fell down and landed in my breakfast.

More soared up the street. Seven white birds, strong and vibrant. They whooshed past our table and a tear slid down my cheek. Seven birds. Seven Aunties. I felt them all beside me. I heard their voices in my ear.

The trees at the top of the hill near the beach were filled with cockatoos.

IMG_5937

I looked down at my list. Was that really what I wanted to write?

All I could hear was Auntie’s voice:

“Now you got your Story, your Spirit no longer lost. That Dreaming inside you make you understand who you are. That Story how you gonna walk this world.” ~ Auntie

When I got home I put my list away and spent some time in the kitchen instead, baking a cake, doing some dishes, preparing some food for the week ahead. I was lost all of a sudden. I had no confidence in my list. What was I supposed to write?

I tossed that question around in my head all day.

Late in the afternoon Ben came up from the river paddock with a present for me. A wedgetail eagle feather.

“It reminds me of one of those old-fashioned quills,” he said. “Maybe it’s time to start writing again.”

I agree.

But what?

There’s a fresh white page in front of me, longing to be filled with words. I’m going to trust that just as I feel guided back to writing, what to write shall also be shown to me.

And of course, I’m open to suggestions. 🙂

Why are you following this path?

“You’ve got this life and while you’ve got it, you’d better kiss like you only have one moment, try to hold someone’s hand like you will never get another chance to, look into people’s eyes like they’re the last you’ll ever see, watch someone sleeping like there’s no time left, jump if you feel like jumping, run if you feel like running, play music in your head when there is none, and eat cake like it’s the only one left in the world!”
~ C. JoyBell C.

Why are you doing this thing?

Why?

Are you interested in this path? Did you choose it for yourself?

Life is short, and there are many roads that might take us where we want to go. Is that path you’re on working for you? Are you enjoying the journey, or at least satisfied with the end destination?

It doesn’t matter what path you choose, only that the choice satisfies something within you. If it doesn’t, it is perfectly fine to choose another path, and I encourage you to do so, even though change can be scary and confronting.

What sense is there in choosing boredom, mediocrity or misery if there are other alternatives? You came here to LIVE this life. It’s always going to be an adventure into the unknown.

I know that for some of you the path is hard right now.

Take a moment and tune in with your inner wisdom.

Why are you here?

Why are you doing the hard yards while everyone else is out having fun, why are you standing by this relationship, sticking to this brutal regime, writing this book, looking for a better way, putting together your website, slogging it out through University, spending all your free time painting, working out, clocking massive hours at your job, adding to your portfolio, turning up each day?

If you don’t know the answer to that, it’s time to re-evaluate your life!

If you have an answer and it’s a big enough WHY then I know you will get through it.

There is nothing like love, a dream or a deep-seated core belief to keep us going, and to give our feet the energy to keep walking that path, even when we have nothing left in the tank.

Image from Beyond Rubies

Image from Beyond Rubies

What if you are walking this path for ‘success’? To be a ‘winner’ in your field, to have fame and fortune.

Those are reasons that sit outside yourself, rather than in the marrow of your being.

Please, don’t tell me you are only in it for the money.

Please, don’t tell me it’s because you want to be on Oprah, to get your five minutes of fame, to be the next big thing.

Fame and fortune can be fleeting. And there’s no guarantee they’ll make you happy. We tend to take our problems where-ever we go…

If your motivator is a vague catch-all of mega yachts, mega millions and other intangible things, that vision won’t fuel you when the going gets hard.

And the going always gets hard at some point.

Image from BRW

Image from BRW

This is YOUR life.

If you want to meander along a gentle path of home, family, a day job and truly meaningful days off, then live that path with joy.

If you’re happy with your life, stay on the path you’re on.

If your vision is fame and fortune for no real reason, and as a result of no deep-seated passion then you need to choose a better path or a bigger WHY.

But if you’re one of those people who has a burning desire within you, a compulsion to do something and keep doing it, a need to serve others, a vision you can’t let go of, a drive to make yourself over, an inspired dream, a sense of destiny then put energy into that.

Here’s the truth of the matter:

You’ll never set the world on fire if your heart’s not in it.

The converse of that is this – if you live with passion and commitment, if you hold to the path where others give up because YOU JUST CAN’T STOP DOING THIS THING AND BEING THIS THING, you will get there.

This life is yours. You choose any path you want. You can change mid-journey. You can change any time you want!

For some of you, that path was lit up bright in your heart and coursing through your veins before you even got here. You’ll be full of this strange compulsion to follow a particular destiny. You’ll feel that urge deep within you to BE something or to DO something.

You’ll know if that’s you.

And if it is, my best advice is this: Don’t give up. Fuel yourself with that dream. Make it the brightest star on your horizon. Deep inside you already know it was what you were born to do. Oprah and mega-bucks had nothing to do with it. It’s about destiny.

Live your Dream. Why else are you here? Live that Dream!

How to work out what your heart wants…

“…everyone wants to be excited by something magical and wondrous – to be reminded of how they once saw the world …”
~ John Geddes

You don’t need to figure everything out on your own. There are always signposts, gentle nudges in the right direction, a trail of breadcrumbs, a giant flashing neon sign.

Problem is, when you are stuck in your head (yes, you know what I mean) going round and round with your own lousy thoughts and worries, being steered by your anxieties and insecurities, it can be easy to miss all that guidance.

Late yesterday afternoon as I was standing in the paddock, five black cockatoos flew over my head. As they neared me they began to call. They cruised directly over me, although they had that whole expanse of sky at their disposal. Then they wheeled around at the old hoop pine, flew over my head once again for good measure, screeching at me the entire time, before alighting back in the hoop pine.

My whole body tingled, and the hairs rose on my arms. You see, that morning I’d been struggling with where to go next with my writing. I have several unfinished projects, each of which will take me in a very different direction. Which one should I run with? I just couldn’t decide…

When those black cockatoos turned up in the paddock I was flooded with knowing. Here were my black sisters, my Kimberley Aunties, flying over to comfort, reassure and remind me. Suddenly the direction I needed to take was writ clear in my mind, as well as my heart.

Today, if you’re in that place of needing some clarity – here I am, waving a big sign for you.

You have this awesome internal guidance system inside you, called your SOUL. And your soul communicates with you by intuition.

If you’re uncomfortable with the concept of a soul, then perhaps think of this energy as your own internal wisdom and most heartfelt, honest preferences.

Your soul isn’t governed by your head. Your mind is just a helpful super-computer at your soul’s disposal. You won’t get the answers you seek from your mind alone. Being stuck in your head is most often a fruitless exercise, or at least one of diminishing returns the more time we spend there.

The magic starts when our heart and mind connect and share wisdoms with one another. The heart knows, and the mind has the genius to make it happen.

Image from Scenic Reflections

Image from Scenic Reflections

Right now, if you’re feeling lost or stuck, it’s perfectly okay to ask for a sign or some kind of answer that gives you clarity – or at least a place to start. Then trust that your Soul and the Universe will use everything at their disposal to get that message to you.

For me, yesterday, it was black cockatoos.

You’ll know what it is for you. Your soul will make the message or the messenger look brighter, shinier, more obvious – this thing, whatever it is, will just stand out more. It will be meaningful for YOU.

It might be a sign on the back of a bus, a song on the radio, an article in the newspaper, a recurring image or idea. Don’t worry about what it could be – just trust that this thing will make itself known to you!

Eg: You’re thinking about returning to study, and you need to have your application in today, but is it the right thing to do? On the way to work you get stuck behind this bus…

Suddenly, you have your answer. You’re on fire. You just KNOW what you need to do!

There’s another thing I need to tell you, to help you recognise what it will be. It won’t be mind driven. Mind-driven solutions are logical, expected and rational. And quite often they leave us dragging our feet. Our heart won’t be in it. We won’t light up when we think about it. It will be an answer or solution we feel we should take, one that will be a crowd pleaser or the sensible choice. Tune in – part of you will be sitting in deep resistance to that particular idea.

If that’s how you feel, that’s not your thing…

Yesterday, as I watched my black cockatoos and thought about my wise Aunties, and as my heart knew which direction to take, I was filled with bright energy and hope. My eyes pricked with tears.

And I also knew the answer had been in me all along. It was just my mind that was objecting…

Your heart always knows what it wants. Your Soul is perfectly equipped to get that message to your conscious mind.

The whole Universe is contriving to help you live your best life.

So ask. And trust.

I have so much faith in you…

I’ll leave you with the sounds of the black cockatoos, Much Love, Nicole xx

“If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.” ~ Gail Sheehy

Congratulations! You made it to the final week of our Positive Change Program. This week’s about putting it all together, and then making a commitment to follow through on the dreams, plans and concrete steps we’ve identified in our journey to become MORE than we currently are, and to move from here to somewhere new.

There are tremendous energies of change around us right now, and if we actively use these energies instead of fighting against them, we’ll begin to create a life that is more aligned with who we are on the inside, and who we desire to become.

Doing this work sets us up well for 2014, and the expansiveness and opportunities that accompany the new year.

So let’s go!

Count Your Blessings!

Your Blessings Book can become a great source of comfort and inspiration.

Recording the small and simple blessings and the peak moments in our day reminds us of the positive energy already present in our lives.  As we focus on this positive feel-good energy, we attract more of these moments and blessings to us.

Reading back over these blessings reminds us of how rich our lives already are. It also shows themes – the things that you’re aware of and that are important to you, and gives you hints about what to include more of in your life.

Once again this week write down three blessings in your life every day – three simple things for which you are grateful.

Write them like this: Today I am thankful for (the blessing) because (write down a simple reason). eg: Today I am thankful for early mornings, because they are my time for meditating, writing and connecting. Early mornings set up my whole day in a positive way!

I keep a Blessings Book as a regular part of my life. Perhaps you’d like to extend this practice past the end of the course. I promise it’s worthwhile!

Affirm the Positive!

Take your rock from Week Seven and thank it. Write the Affirmation you used in your Blessings Book. You can now place the seventh rock beside your bed or somewhere where you’ll see it often.

Select the eighth and final rock from those you selected at the start of this course. This is your eighth Affirmation Stone. Carry it around with you, or place it somewhere where you can see and hold it every day.

Hold this eighth stone in your hands. Now think of who you want to be become, and what you hope to achieve through this positive change. This week we’re focusing on OUR EMERGING SELVES. We’re going to see ourselves as we wish to become and affirm that as a statement of declaration to the Universe.

When we state that we ARE something, we’re saying to the Universe ‘Hey! Line me up with all the good stuff that matches this new picture of myself’ and we begin to build a powerful belief within us. It’s all about claiming who we are and committing to that energy.

State it like this: I AM NOW ON MY WAY TO  ______.

Get excited about having this new energy in your life. As you affirm it, really see yourself doing it, having it, being it. Own that image of yourself.

Give yourself permission to become this thing.

Using your Gratitude Rock

This little rock is becoming a powerhouse of positive energy. Even simply holding it will be tuning you in to this. As you hold your stone tonight say to yourself I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life.  Then hold in your mind one or more image of a thing you have been grateful for today.  It doesn’t matter if you review your Blessings from your Blessing Book, or add in something new.  Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe. Visualise a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.

Now imagine all of the other people who are taking part in this Positive Change Program with us – people from all over the world, just like you. Once again build up a strong positive energy in your heart, and then imagine shooting a stream of golden light out into the Universe to those people. Each of us benefits for the love and support we share, and we grow stronger and more open and connected.

Say Thank you.  I Bless You.  I intend for you Positive Change, Love, Miracles and Abundance. Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Place your rock back beside your bed, and close your eyes, cocooned in this good energy. Know that you ARE making positive change in the world, and in your life, and helping others to do the same.

Homework:

You’ve explored so much over the past seven weeks. Your journal and your Blessings Book are now filled with clues that can help you build a road map for continuing to work with the energy of change.

Your task this week is to take some real time – a minimum of thirty minutes, but you may need a few hours – and review what you have written.

  • Take a highlighter and mark any words, sentences or paragraphs that really stand out for you.
  • Look for common themes; ideas and concepts that come up more than once. Write them down so that you KNOW you’re finally paying attention to yourself and your own heart and soul wisdom.
  • Pay attention to anything that literally jumps off the page at you. Those things are usually a very good indication of a place to start.

Then look at the Action Steps you identified in Week Seven.

Based on all of this, write a new, expanded list of action steps. Some will be things you can start on straight away. Some will become part of your longer term plan. These steps create the road map that gets you from where you are now to where you want to be.

Commit to working on your plan. Commit to having, doing and being more. And then honour that commitment by putting energy into these things.

Our lives are a work in progress. And it’s likely that as we travel we’ll change headings, happen upon new things that appeal to us, and let go of other things we’re done with. That’s okay. What’s important is that in moving forward, we’re getting ourselves out of stuckness and back into flow. And flow is where the magic happens.

I’m cheering you on. You can do this!

Much love to you, ♥ Nicole xx

Create Positive Change Program – Week 4

Letting Go by senyan1

Letting Go by senyan1

“It’s not hard to decide what you want your life to be about. What’s hard, she said, is figuring out what you’re willing to give up in order to do the things you really care about.”
― Shauna Niequist, Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way

That’s the thing about change. It requires room. Change’s very essence is about allowing for things to evolve, to become different, to be altered from what they are now. But how can that happen if your life is already crammed to capacity with being and doing? How can you grab hold of the new if your hands are already full?

This week we’re going to look at how we can begin to make room for the things that matter to us.

It will mean letting go of, or temporarily putting aside, some of the the things we’re currently giving energy to so that there is space for what’s coming.

Are you ready for that?

Good! Let’s go. 🙂

Count Your Blessings!

Writing our Blessings down provides a concrete reminder of the everyday good and everyday magic already present in our lives.  This simple practice draws more abundance into our lives by focusing our attention on what matters to us.

Again this week write down three blessings in your life every day – three simple things for which you are grateful. When we count our Blessings we are inviting positive energy into our lives and putting ourselves into a receptive and abundant state of mind.

Write them like this: Today I am thankful for (the blessing) because (write down a simple reason). eg: Today I am grateful for Australia’s Outback, because being under this wide blue sky makes my heart feel free.

The wide soft sky at sunset...

The wide soft sky at dawn…

Affirm the Positive!

Take your rock from Week Three and thank it. Write the Affirmation you used in your Blessings Book. You can now place the third rock beside your bed or somewhere where you’ll see it often.

Select the fourth rock from the eight you selected at the start of this course. This is your fourth Affirmation Stone. Carry it around with you, or place it somewhere where you can see and hold it every day.

Hold this fourth stone in your hands. Now think of something else in your life that you want to change. This week we’re focusing on what we ARE READY FOR. Affirm that as a statement of declaration to the Universe.

Here are some examples:

I am ready for a Soul Mate.

I am ready to become a published author.

I am ready for a healthy, happy pregnancy.

I am ready to commit to higher study.

I am ready to create my dream job.

I am ready to embrace change and become a successful visual artist.

Each day hold that stone in your hands and repeat your declaration, out loud, or in your mind. You can do this just once, or as many times as you like. Say your declaration with enthusiasm and commitment. Put lots of energy into the words I AM READY. This simple act of declaration begins to align you with this energy, opening you to more of this thing in your life.

Using your Gratitude Rock!

Are you enjoying this part of our Program? I confess it might actually be my favourite!

Let yourself heal, let yourself be nurtured, let yourself connect spiritually while you sleep.

Homework:

This week we’re going to do a little honest exploring, via our journal.

In as much or as little detail as you need, answer the following questions. You can repeat the questions more than once, and you can also make the actions as small or as massive as you are ready for. Big change can often come from the tiniest realignment or action so don’t feel you NEED to make a grand gesture. On the other hand, sometimes big is what it takes to finally move us out of stuckness and back into flow.  Tune in to your heart. You’ll find your way!

I’m prepared to give up ______ to help me improve my health because ______.

I’m prepared to give up ______ to help me improve my financial situation because ______.

I’m prepared to give up ______ to help me improve my relationship with ______ because ______.

I’m prepared to give up ______ to free up more time because ______.

I’m prepared to stop ______ because I’m aware that ______.

I’m prepared to swap ______ for ______ because ______.

Create Positive Change Program – Week 2

Image from www.newpix.ru

“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

One of the biggest obstacles to change is that feeling of overwhelm we get when we look at where we are now, and then at the distance between us and our goal/heart’s desire/impossible dream. The bigger the gap, the more likely we are to feel stuck, or unable to make that first step. In fact, we can get so stuck that we can no longer even conceptualise that first step!

It’s not unlike that brain freeze feeling you get from eating ice-cream too fast – there’s pain, confusion and a need to lie down in a darkened room. And that’s when the ghosts come out – all those voices from our past (or even our present) that tell us we can’t do it, we’re not good enough, we don’t deserve it, we don’t have what it takes. Our failures parade before us. We see all the things we’re not, all the things we don’t have, and all our glaring faults.

This week we’re going to work with energies that get us back on solid ground – connected into our heart space, and able to ‘hear’ our inner guidance about what to do next.

Are you ready?

Great! Let’s go!

Anchoring your heart energy

Lie down on the ground. If at all possible lie on the earth itself – the grass or sand or rock or dirt. Now imagine the back of your heart opening up and connecting deep into the core of the earth. Feel that earth energy warmly grounding you, supporting and nurturing you. Then open the front of your heart and connect it up into the sky. Go up beyond the blue. Feel the sun, the moon and the stars. Open to the wisdom and guidance of Universal energy. In this space of being anchored and connected just breathe and fill your body up with energy and love. Let yourself be replenished.

What do you feel?  Be open to any insights or revelations. Do this process a few times over the next week. What you feel and become aware of will change over time. Write down anything important in your journal.

Count Your Blessings!

Every day this week write down three blessings in your life – three simple things for which you are grateful. See if you can come up with new things each day. Cultivate an attitude of awareness, actively looking for the positive moments in your life.

Write them like this: Today I am thankful for (the blessing) because (write down a simple reason). eg: Today I am grateful for my barista because she always makes the most wonderful creamy latte for me!

26-Pink_background_branches_windows_7_wallpapers-010

When we count our Blessings we are inviting positive energy into our lives and putting ourselves into a receptive and abundant state of mind.

Affirm the Positive!

Take your rock from Week One, and thank it. Write the Affirmation you used in your Blessings Book. You can now place the first rock beside your bed or somewhere where you’ll see it often.

Select the second rock from the eight you selected at the start of this course. This is your second Affirmation Stone. Carry it around with you, or place it somewhere where you can see and hold it every day.

Hold this second stone in your hands. Now think of something else in your life that you want to change. Affirm that as a statement of declaration to the Universe,

Here are some examples:

I choose Healthy Relationships.

I choose Financial Stability.

I choose Bright New Ideas.

Each day hold that stone in your hands and repeat your declaration, out loud, or in your mind. You can do this just once, or as many times as you like. Say your declaration with enthusiasm and commitment. This simple act of declaration begins to align you with this energy, opening you to more of this thing in your life.

Using your Gratitude Rock!

The Gratitude Rock anchors positive energy and gratitude at the end of every day.  You can carry your stone with you, or leave it beside your bed.  At night, before you go to sleep, hold your Gratitude Rock in your hand.

As you hold the stone say to yourself I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life.  Then hold in your mind one or more image of a thing you have been grateful for today.  It doesn’t matter if your review your Blessings from your Blessing Book, or add in something new.  Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe. Visualise a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.

Now here’s the fun bit – imagine all of the other people who are taking part in this Positive Change Program with us – people from all over the world, just like you. Once again build up a strong positive energy in your heart, and then imagine shooting a stream of golden light out into the Universe to those people.

Say Thank you.  I Bless You.  I intend for you Positive Change, Love, Miracles and Abundance. Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Place your rock back beside your bed, and go to sleep, cocooned in this good energy.
