Hey Lovelies,
Hopefully as you are reading this I am still asleep this morning. I got no sleep the night before, worrying about the little unborn baby who needed emergency surgery to come into this world safely, and yesterday was such a big work day for me.
I was fortunate to play a part in this baby’s safe delivery into this world, and his parents, Diane and Steve, have called their newborn son Nicholas, in honour of me. Isn’t that the loveliest thing!
He’s had a rough start to life, so I’m hoping he’s sleeping in too today. We both need it.
Mum and bub are doing well, and getting the support they need from their fantastic hospital team – they’ll be in care for a little while yet. Thanks, everyone, for all your messages of love and support for this new little family. Please keep sending love, prayers and positive energy their way.
We’re all in this together, and we need to look after each other. Life is chaotic and stressful right now, and that won’t be changing anytime soon, so rest up, check in your loved ones, stay healthy, find things that make your heart sing – and do them!

Dr Michelle is a front-line emergency medicine doctor who volunteered to work in New York during the worst of the COVID crisis, and is now working in California in a COVID field hospital. She is living away from her college-aged daughter and elderly mother, both of whom are immuno-compromised, so she can keep them safe. She sacrifices so much to keep serving people.
