Excitement! I went on a short outing today to my favourite local Farmers’ Market at Mullumbimby. After the last few horrendous days of Lyme herxing I appreciated the fresh air and change of scenery…
My first stop was an excellent breakfast from The Nomadic Kitchen – Rice, banana and tomato sauce, and fried egg. I can’t begin to tell you what a rapturous combination this was, and it fuelled me up for the morning shop.
I then filled my bags with organic sourdough pumpkin bread, swiss brown mushrooms, sweet little muscatel grapes, kefir, and a few varieties of fresh garlic;
as well as organic zucchini, lady finger bananas, eggs and bees wax tea-lights;
some tasty kale (my current addiction – and my cows’ too, who ate all the kale I had growing at home!!!) and pak choi;
and a multitude of smiles and hugs.
Here’s the organic beeswax lantern (also available at the Markets) where I burn my little tea lights. Makes the whole house smell of beeswax and honey and it glows translucent and shimmery when it’s lit!

*sigh* This post gave me the strength to hang on until my favorite market starts the first weekend in June. (I’m sort of near Chicago.)
Today, we are having unseasonably cold temps–it should be around 10C, but barely above 2C. The pumpkin bread sounds incredibly yummy, though!

Oh How I wish I were there 🙂 !! Love farmers markets….we have a small one near us that opens in July…every Saturday I bring my children and they so enjoy the fresh fruit, veggies, homemade breads, cheese…..then we go home and devour it all 🙂 !!

wish I was there…our farmers market in my small town is gtting smaller…pad politics and infighting…so sad it used to be thriving and quite the social event…maybe someday it will come back to life. Thanks for the nice stories Aloha from Hawaii
