Wrestling With Hard Choices

Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same thing.

~ The Fray

Hey, Lovelies.

There’s a song lyric that has been stuck in my head the past few weeks. Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same thing.

There is so much wisdom in that line.

It can be hard to ask for help when help is the thing you need the most.

It can be hard to change your patterns when the old ones are comforting even as they destroy you.

It can be hard to leave, when it would be so much easier to stay in a place that is certain but also unhappy or unfulfilling.

It can be hard to let go of an unfulfilled dream, when the dream is holding you back from new ways of being and new horizons.

To get out of bed to go exercise when the morning is cold and you are tired.

To eat the salad and drink the water and take your vitamins when a latte and a grilled cheese sandwich is so much easier.

To make the phone call that will potentially save someone’s life, and keep their kids from harm even though it’s a betrayal of trust.

That last one.

Yeah. That last one.

A friend we are supporting is spiralling down into mental illness and substance abuse, and it’s becoming untenable for her and her young kids.

Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same thing.

I guess I’ll make that call.

If you’ve got some spare energy, love and light, feel free to send it my way.
A sad but resolute Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. I wish you and send you Love and that is what it is about – Love you are not doing this out of spite, it is not ‘dobbing’ it is the love for the family and the friend.

  2. Sending love and light and strength to you Nicole, in amidst such difficult times for your friend and her family and you. 🙏💜
