Getting Ready For The Sokli Diet

Everyone has healing nutriments that make them better and that also includes stuff you can’t eat and that is important nutriment too – like places and things you love and things you can do as well as eating things. So I like making nutriment plans to help people get better because then they will be happy and when they are happy they can feel and hear and remember their connection to the Earth and help her too. Love from Sokli, who is a fairy who knows stuff.’ ~ Sokli

Those of you who know me well will also know that one of my dear friends is a fairy. Her name is Sokli, and she’s funny and wise and only a little bit old (about 200 years) and she is very interested in helping humans.

She often speaks to my students at my retreats and live events when I channel, and helps them with their health and well-being by telling them about what foods are best for them or what crystals, or where their best healing place is, or the best activity for them to help them be well and happy. She lavishly doles out information and usually sprinkles in some advice for people’s pets (animal family people, she calls them!) too.

Sokli has made Ben and I promise that we are going to follow her VERY BOSSY AND GOOD SOKLI DIET (her name for it, of course!), custom-made just for us, for ninety days.

We couldn’t start while we were away on our break – there was wine to be drunk, and chocolate to be eaten and all sorts of other lovely ‘holiday treats’ as Sokli calls them. Sokli is all for holiday treats and eating for pleasure, as long as people don’t eat like that every day.

I’ll be spending a few hours with Sokli on Sunday, getting our instructions and lists together. She has saved my life with her ideas more than once and is always so funny and supportive.

I’m actually looking forward to following her diet to the letter – except for the occasion of my PA and right-hand-woman Trish’s birthday, where Ben and I have been given the okay to GO CRAZY JUST A LITTLE BIT to celebrate.

I’ll keep you posted on how it all turns out.

Trish has actually suggested that I start doing channelled health readings with Sokli as one of our personal consultation options for our clients. (She already does this for a very few people who have been totally stuck with their health stuff.) We’re seriously considering it!

But first step: Ben and me and the VERY BOSSY AND GOOD SOKLI DIET.

I’m so ready for this.

Lots of love, Nicole xx

I was horrified the first time it happened…

“Most fears of rejection rest on the desire for approval from other people. Don’t base your self-esteem on their opinions.”
~ Harvey Mackay

I remember, years ago, when I first started channelling.

It was excruciating.

My logical mind was stuck in judgement, cynicism, scepticism and disbelief. My soulful self trusted anyway and urged me on. I was conflicted, confused and stuck, with no-one to show me the way or help me.

And then my sister stepped forward.

She used her scientific curiosity and encouraged me to do the same. With her beside me I stepped more and more into the person I am today. I worked from a trance channel space, with my sister or trusted friends sitting with me, asking questions, guiding the sessions and recording them for me or taking notes.

At first I channelled Guides and Spiritual Beings. Their messages were helpful and wise. We found evidence of things that proved that I wasn’t making it all up. That helped me to not give up. I worked on my craft and became more and more competent in what I was doing. It was fascinating. I began to feel good about my abilities.

And then the awful day came.

I was with my sister and some Aboriginal friends; Vynette, Leanna, and Liz. We meditated together and then I settled into the trance space. But instead of channelling one of my Guides I channelled this squeaky-voiced, childlike being.

She told us her name was Sokli, and that she was what we humans would call a fairy.

My friends asked her many questions, to which she happily responded. Sokli was funny and earnest and talkative.

The session ended and everyone was abuzz.

Everyone except me.

I was horrified. I had just channelled a fairy. What if someone found out? How would anyone take me seriously ever again? I didn’t know anyone who channelled fairies. All the spiritual and psychic folk channelled dead people or Ascended Masters and Master Guides and Very Important Energies With Wise Sharings For Humanity.

Perhaps it was a fluke, I convinced myself. But at the very next session she turned up again. And again. And again.

Gradually we began to know her well. That was over twenty-five years ago, and Sokli has now become a dear friend and companion. She’s still funny and wise, and all of my students and clients who have met her have been entranced by her eagerness to help, her specific and personalised wisdoms about health, food, crystals, animals and plants. Sokli is generous and caring, and she has a beautiful innocence and straightforward way about her.

I’m embarrassed that I was so awkward about all of this emerging spiritual and psychic phenomena back then, and about people finding out that I believed in fairies. I still worried so much about how I would appear to others, and about my credibility.

Now I feel blessed to have Sokli as one of my crew.

Humans from all corners of the earth have long believed in spirit beings who came from the earth herself, and who could – at times – walk between worlds or dimensions. Not Gods. Not Angels. Not ETs. Beings different to ourselves who are intrinsically tied to nature and the planet. There are many names for them. Many cultural beliefs. Our Ancient Tribes have always believed.

Children believe in them.

But as adults in the modern Western world, we are taught that this is childish. After twenty-five years of experience, I beg to differ.

Come hang out with me and Sokli in Brisbane on June 22 (Details here) and find out for yourself.

And don’t worry if you live too far away to make it. After the event we’ll create a special online package to share the magic with you, no matter where you live!

Up Late, Writing

“Listen.
I will lose myself
if it means I can find you.”
Alaska Gold

I didn’t mean to do it.

I meant to open up one folder, to check one fact, on one page, and to add one small note that was in danger of being forgotten if I didn’t immediately write it down.

I’m meant to be finishing the edits on the last three chapters of my memoir right now. I’m meant to be getting ready for my August retreat. I’m meant to be finishing the content for my new website. I’m meant to be catching up on sleep.

So it was only going to be one thing captured on paper. Not even proper writing. Just the recording of a small idea…

I sat down a little before 9pm to write that simple thing before I went to bed. A simple thing about a dragon and a sister who loved her missing brother very much and could not give up on him.

At 2am I looked up again and half the night had flown.

The fire had burned to cold ashes while I had been traversing volcanoes, diving with mermaids, flying through the night sky on the back of a winged beast, and engaging in acts of espionage and treachery.

My skin was goosefleshed and my feet were icy bricks.

My cheeks were streaked with tears, and there were three new chapters on the screen in front of me.

I didn’t mean to do it. But I am glad I did!

This writer’s life is such a glorious adventure.

Much love to you, Nicole ❤  xx

It’s a Fairy Forest here at the farm!

“Few humans see fairies or hear their music, but many find fairy rings of dark grass, scattered with toadstools, left by their dancing feet.”
Judy Allen

We’ve had a furious amount of rain here at the farm these past few weeks. Everything is damp and waterlogged, but green green green!

On my morning walk I marvelled at the fungi forest in our paddocks. Mushrooms of every shape and size.

The one in the picture above is the size of a dinner plate.

And these tiny delicate ones are covering the trunk of the fallen coral tree like lace.

Soon enough they’ll all be gone, so I am enjoying their magic while I can.

How about you? Can you slow down a little today, or over the weekend, and take yourself for a walk in nature? Who knows what you might find, what inspiration could come to you, or what you might learn about yourself and your feelings.

I can highly recommend walking. After our retreat I rushed straight into a busy week of medical appointments in the city and the stress of supporting family members. It was so good to come home yesterday and decompress by spending some quiet time in nature. Walking helped me come back to centre, release my stress and reprioritise what truly matters so that I don’t get caught up in external dramas. Maybe you will find that kind of peace too, if you walk long enough. If long walking’s impossible a short gentle stroll or even sitting outside in nature with a quiet and watchful eye can be enough.

Biggest hugs and love, Nicole ❤ xx

There’s almost nowhere to walk – with mushrooms everywhere under my feet

Perfect umbrellas for fairies!

Lace-like and delicate. For fairy dresses perhaps?

Saving Dudley Dog!

“Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.” ~  John Grogan

Australia is in the grip of a ferocious heatwave right now. Late yesterday afternoon I lay down on my bed in our air-conditioned bedroom, thoroughly exhausted and grateful to be in the cool. I’ve worked a few big days, and been on call outside work hours too. So many people have been affected by the moon, and the energies of February. It’s been a time of high stress and peak transformation for many. Even my spare hours have been crowded with lending support to others. But that’s okay – it’s why I’m here.

As I was almost asleep I heard a loud but insistent voice. A squeaky, childlike voice.

“Wake up, wake up!” the voice said. “Dudley Dog is in trouble.”

It was my fairy friend, Sokli. She sounded quite agitated.

“Hurry up,” she said. “You have to call his mum. He’s too, too hot and there’s no water and no shade and he’s in big trouble. You have to help him NOW!”

Immediately I thought of a friend, and her dog Dudley. But she would never leave her old dog out in the backyard in a heatwave! I struggled to think who Sokli might be talking about.

“You know his mum,” she said. “The Jo Anne Lady. She just moved houses and she isn’t allowed to have a dog inside. You have to call her!”

Suddenly I did remember a Joanne lady who I haven’t talked to for over a year, possibly longer? Yes, that was the one. I turned on my computer and found her phone number. Joanne was still at work in the middle of the city, and surprised that I was calling her. Did she have a dog called Dudley? Yes, she did, a German Shepherd cross. He was a rescue dog, about four years old. She’d had him for six months and he was the love of her life. How did I know? Joanne’s surprise soon turned to panic as I told her he was having problems with the heat. She promised me she would leave work straight away and go home to her pet.

I hadn’t been off the phone ten minutes when Sokli began yelling in my ear again.

“TOO SLOW. SHE’S TOO SLOW! She has to hurry up or Dudley won’t make it!”

I called Joanne back. She was just leaving work, and still had to catch a bus and then walk the rest of the way home. The trip would take an hour. Maybe more if the traffic was bad.

Joanne moved to this house last weekend, after taking a transfer to a new city. She hadn’t met the neighbours yet. She didn’t know anyone who could check on her dog for her. “Call the RSPCA,” I urged her, “or your closest vet. I promise, it’s a genuine emergency.”

That was all I could do. I did a healing meditation for Dudley, and I called on every energy and entity I could think of to help him until someone turned up at his door. I put a post on my facebook wall, asking my friends to send love and energy to him and his mum too. I figured it would help both Dudley dogs and both mums.

Late last night Joanne rang me back. Someone from the vet’s office had rushed to Joanne’s house and found Dudley collapsed in the back yard. He was dangerously dehydrated and in severe heat distress. If they had found Dudley even an hour later they may not have been able to save him.

Joanne had left two bowls of water out for Dudley before she went to work, and he had a doghouse to shelter in too. But in a heatwave a doghouse becomes like a sauna – and offers no protection from the heat at all. In the late afternoon Dudley had absolutely no shade, and his water was long gone.

Joanne texted me again this morning. Dudley is being moved from intensive care, and they expect he will make a full recovery. The vets are quite amazed at how well Dudley has bounced back. What a lucky thing that Sokli was paying attention yesterday afternoon, and that so many caring people sent love and energy Dudley’s way. Thank you to all of you who helped. I know it made a difference!

Please, if you are experiencing a heatwave or a hot day, think of your animals and do all you can to provide them with a cool shady place to rest, and lots of water in multiple locations in case one gets knocked over. Shell baths with water or ice are good too. If possible, let your pets come into the cool of the house until the heatwave has passed.

There are some excellent suggestions for keeping your pets cool here.

It’s also a kindness if you can leave bowls of water out for the birds and the wildlife. Everyone is affected by this kind of heat.

Thank you again, and lots of love from Sokli and I,

Nicole <3 xx

Some holiday snapshots today. The picture above is of the sun coming up over Santorini. We were on deck in the cool morning air before dawn, and saw an enormous sea turtle come up to breathe just as we sailed slowly past.

This next one, the steps to a chapel within the walled city of Dubrovnic.

2016-06-14 10.11.19

I know. It’s a lizard. But not just any lizard. And the photo does not do her justice. She was actually a bronze-green colour, with amber eyes. But she was shy…

So, why is there a photo of a lizard? Remember that I told you Sokli was talking to the lizards. I hadn’t seen a single one, although she assured me that there were many in Dubrovnic. So she made me sit down on the steps of the chapel, and she called one over to meet me. The lizard came down from the roof (Sokli pointed her out to me), she crept down the wall, and then came level with my eyes. After I took her photo she gazed straight at me for the longest time.

I felt a great sense of peace and happiness come over me, and Sokli assures me that the lizard gave me a Blessing. I have never been the recipient of a lizard’s blessing before!

The picture below is part of the ruins of Ancient Olympia. This was an unexpectedly wonderful site energetically, built as it is on the remains of even earlier temples and energetic gridlines. There are layers of meaning and significance here. It provides an oasis of serenity with all of the old trees and stone, and the river boundaries with their fresh running water. I’m looking forward to bringing some of you back here with me next time!

Part of the old walled city of Dubrovnic. It was good to be well enough to walk the walls (very Game of Thrones, don’t you think!) but I didn’t see a single dragon.

Love to you all, Nicole xx

Fairy Magic!

“That’s the thing about magic; you’ve got to know it’s still here, all around us, or it just stays invisible for you.”
~ Charles de Lint

I have a special necklace that I often wear when I am working. It has a small rose-gold cross, a Phantom Good Mark (yep, truly – Ghost who walks and all that) that Ben had made for me, and a St Raphael medal (St Raphael is known as the healing angel).

When we came up to the city last week I accidentally left it behind at the farm after taking it off and leaving it beside my bed the night before we left home. How frustrating. I’d really wanted to wear it overseas.

So you can imagine my surprise when I opened my glasses case yesterday. I have two pairs of reading glasses that I only use when my eyes are playing up from Lyme. I keep one on my desk in Brisbane, and one at the farm. I haven’t used either pair for months but yesterday my vision was so bad that I needed them.

There was my necklace, hidden beneath my glasses! I should have known that might happen. Strange things like this are quite the regular occurrence in our household.

2016-03-07 08.53.04

Thank you, Sokli.

Of course it was fairy magic.

How else could I explain it?

All Things Fairy!

2015-12-12 11.48.31

“Things that fairies love? Well, every fairy is different, just likes peoples are. So I will tell you what I love. I love flowers and crystals and shiny sparkly things, and babies smiling, and people laughing, and music, and the smell of puppy feet. And I love you! Thank you for believing in fairies!” ~ Sokli

We had the loveliest ‘Making Friends with Fairies’ workshop yesterday. Kids and adults all gathered around, talking about one of the things I love best – fairies!

We talked about some of the different kinds of fairies, where they live, and what they do. Flower Fairies and Treekeepers, Forest Fairies, Mountain Fairies, Rock Fairies and Water Sprites to name a few. 🙂 We learned how fairies can help us and our pets and our homes and gardens.

We played with crystals and learned how to make a fairy garden, and then we made some lovely sparkly fairy attractors to hang in our gardens or houses.

Here are a few of them. Aren’t they pretty!

2015-12-12 12.13.17

In the afternoon I ran another workshop called  ‘Introduction to Gridding with Crystals’, and I was very grateful that my fairy friend Sokli decided to visit and share some of her knowledge with the group by telling people what crystals were good for them, and why.

It was a super day, and we all learned a lot. I’m so happy that I am able to share my love of fairies and crystals with others. And it was a lovely surprise to have Sokli turn up to speak with us.

Her biggest message for everyone? Be kind. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to each other. Be kind to the animals and nature places. Be kind to the planet.

Whether you believe in fairies or not, I think that’s a pretty good message.

It’s my final day of Pop-Up Shop today, and it’s also our Healing Practice Day, so if you’d like to come along and practice some simple energy healing techniques for yourself and others we’d love to see you. Details on my Events page.

Thank you too, a million times over, for everyone who has already bought one of my Planners. Some of you have also been asking if I could make a monthly subscription for the $275 year-long course and support. I’m sure I can, but I need a stretch of a few good hours in front of the computer to work out how to make that happen. So please be patient with me and I’ll do my best to get it sorted out for you in the next couple of days, as soon as I get a spare moment.

Much love to you, Nicole <3 xx

Colour Me Calm

Image from Sodahead.com

“Give crayons. Adults are disturbingly impoverished of these magical dream sticks.” ~ Dr. SunWolf

I’ve found a wonderful new form of meditation.

It’s colouring.

To give myself a calming break in a busy day, I take five or ten minutes just for me. I sit quietly with my tube of pretty pencils and my fairy book (thanks, Thanh – loveliest present ever), happily choosing colours which I then apply to the page.

2015-03-10 07.41.08

It’s a joyful and reflective process. Often my colour choices are quick and completely intuitive. Sometimes they require me to sit and gaze restfully at the page until I am drawn to a particular pencil.

It doesn’t matter if I only shade one or two tiny feathers, or make a few spots of detail here or there. It’s the process that is calming.

It’s the losing myself to the picture and the forming colours that is relaxing.

2015-03-10 08.02.01

I never thought that, as an adult, I would take up colouring books again. I’m not confident with drawing. I have never thought of myself as particularly artistic. But to have an outline on a page, and to use my imagination to bring that page to life? It’s a delightful activity.

If you can’t find a colouring book you like, do a quick google search of colouring pages for adults or colouring mandalas for adults. You’ll find plenty of beautiful images to download and print, ready for you to work your own colourful magic.

For stress reduction, nurture and reconnection, colouring is a simple activity that I highly recommend!
