“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”
~ Laozi
I saw this picture posted in my facebook feed yesterday (see below) about the joy of passionate, crazy, engulfing wonderful love.
Yes, I thought to myself. Yes. That kind of love is wonderful…

But what about the other kinds?
The kind of love that enabled my elderly grandfather to learn to cook so that he could nurse my grandmother through a long illness with her favourite baked custard recipe.
The kind of love that enables a starving woman to walk endless miles of dangerous road to get her malnourished child to a UN aid station.

The kind of love that saw my dog Bert never leave my side through the darkest days of my illness (and he’s still at my feet right now!).
The kind of love that gets you out of bed day after day to keep practicing your violin, working on that writing project, toiling on that garden renovation, putting energy into that curious dream that only you understand…
That feeling you get when it’s just you and the ocean and your heart swells in gratitude for that place of peace and joy and wonder inside you.

There are so many kinds of love in this world. Each has its own beauty and value.
And the best thing is, you can experience any or all of them!
Sending lots of love to you today, from my heart to yours, Nicole xx
Well said! And much love to you, Nicole!
(ps. sounds like Bert deserves a big dinner cookie 🙂 )

Lovely blog Nicole…As I have learnt the best love is when you can love yourself and then you can be there for others more fully. Hope all is getting better with you, I watch you from afar and send you lots of love for your healing. Thank you for all you have done for me in my life and for being such a wonderful and special light. God bless you….and love as always Penelope xx

All those Love’s are transient experiences….. Realise the greatest Love of all … The Love that you are …. It requires no other ….. It just is …
I really like this blog – great to celebrate all the different kinds of love. A life full of loving (all those different kinds) and being loved is a good life….
When my marriage sadly ended I was reminded of all the power of the love of friends who stepped right up to catch my fall. Have never forgotten ….so here’s to the love of friends, the love of chocolate and movie nights, and many more ….
Thanks for you post!
This post reminds me of the movie “Love Actually”. It shows the different types of love…between brother and sister, husband and wife…the love that is really lust, and others. I especially love the end of the movie which is scene in an airport showing people hugging and the picture multiplies over and over again. There really is so much love in the world…it’s all around us!
Thanks for the beautiful photos!
You know, that’s one of my favourite movies too!
Hugs and love to you, Savvy Sister xoxoxo
